The bed was the most comfortable I slept in so far. Room was large enough for a single person. They had free amenities in the lobby and the breakfast had a good Japanese spread. The only con is the elevator is super slow lol but at least they have one! Family mart underneath is super helpful. Would stay again and it's super close to the takachiho gorge!

Just OK. Would stay closer to the City Center

The hotel is an 11-minute walk from the main bus station/tourist center. Due to bus schedules, I needed to leave a day early. The hotel did not budge in terms of giving me a refund for the extra day. For that reason, I will not stay there again. I also learned there are other hotels much closer to the city center, which would have been more convenient.

The staff were friendly in terms of making calls and helping with the bus.

There is a very well-stocked Family Mart on the bottom level of the building, which was convenient. Otherwise, you will need to walk a distance to get food!

Pros: Good value. Spacious rooms. Relatively large beds. Quiet area. Easy, ample parking. Hotel connected to a convenience store. Good free breakfast. Walking distance to Amaterasu train attraction.

Cons: A bit further away from Takachiho Gorge, about 5min drive. No view from hotel. Laundry was a bit expensive, had to buy detergent from the front desk separately from the laundry machine fee.

Sunday night saw a lack of dining establishments. However there is a Lawsons convenience store below the hotel. An older style hotel but clean and quiet and close to the gorge entrance with beautiful gardens surrounding.
Staff were very nice and breakfast was great.

The most wonderful place in Japan!

We travelled to Takachiho all the way from London. This hotel was so clean and had a wonderful view to Takachiho hills. Hotel staff were so helpful.
I love to visit Takachiho again and love to stay at Hotel grateful Takachiho.

Nice accents specific to Takachiho - a giant fresco of Sarutahiko in the lobby, and local sweets and tea when checking in.
Very kind English-speaking staff.
The only complaint is the tea / coffee cups in the room are ridiculously small.
Overall, a bit pricier than a business hotel but I would definitely stay there again.

Location, the convenient store is just downstairs and you can walk to everywhere if you like to walk.

Comfortable and pleasant stay with great staff

I stayed at Hotel Grateful Takachiho for 2 nights recently and had a wonderful experience all-round. I found the hotel staff to be very friendly and courteous, who were able to provide me and my boyfriend with sightseeing recommendations and advise us on how to get to places. The staff also went the extra mile at times - for example, sheltering us with umbrellas while we were walking to the hotel as it was raining! The rooms itself were excellent - well-decorated and comfortable, and so clean! The view was great and it was such a pleasant and relaxing stay. Thank you Hotel Grateful Takachiho - どうもありがとうございました！

The staff especially Kouiroku-san(?)was especially helpful especially when I needed a Japanese speaker to help resolve a pickle over my onward reservation in Nagasaki and Unzen and he went out of his way to help and I am very grateful for his assistance. The hotel is adequate in all its facilities and I would say value for a couple of nights stay if all you needed is a convenient stop and rest

Simple, frill-free hotel, good if only short stay

It is simple business hotel, only have 1 small restaurant and no facilities whatsoever.
Below is a convenient store and they have no Spa nor Gym.
Free parking but limited lots, many often reserved with cones.
Room is small and the staffs are all non-English speaking.
However, 1 or 2 were very helpful, even with language barrier, tried their best to help us on guide to see/eat around the area.
It is a small town anyway, just 2D1N in this area is enough.
5-10mins to all the attractions in the area including the Gorge.

Clean, spacious and comfortable pillows and beds. Nothing in the vicinity so it gets boring at night. All English movies are pay per view. The hotel rates are higher than average so it will be nice if some free movies are included. The convenience store at the hotel was our only form of entertainment at night. There are coin operated washing machines. We didn't get breakfast and settled with food from the convenience store which were cheap and delicious.

•フロントの女の子たちが可愛かった
•朝ごはんはそこそこ色々種類があって、優しい味で十分満足でした。
• 1階がコンビニで便利です。
改善して欲しい点
ハンドタオルでも良いのでもう1枚プラスして欲して欲しい。
バスタオルとフェイスタオルしか無いのを見て、トイレ後の手を洗って拭いたタオルで顔を拭くのか？と残念に思いました。
私の選択ミス。
駅からトランクを転がして歩くには、路面が悪いし遠い。手ぶらで歩くのなら全然平気な距離です。
また行くなら、車レンタカーまたは駅から近いホテルかなぁ

22時過ぎのチェックインでしたが、普通に対応してくださり、手渡されたお菓子は、とても美味しかったです。
なにより、決め手だったコンビニがB1にある！と言うのが最高でした。B1というより、道路に面した24時間のファミマで、お酒もあり、通常に買い物できたのが嬉しかったです。
新しくて、室内も広々としていて、清潔でした。二人掛けのソファにも満足。

一つだけ気になったのが、荷物置きがどこから持ってきた⁈という位に部屋に不似合いに古かったこと。一緒に泊まった友人と大笑いしてしまいました。

一階にファミマがあり便利。
駐車場もとても広いです。
受付にたくさんのお酒を扱っていてゆっくり選んで購入できました。
朝食が大人1000円小人700円とホテルにしてはお安くいただけます。
メニューも焼きそばやミートボール、玉子料理など子供用もあり。
子供がマンゴージュースを取る際に受け皿を割ってしまい、２名の方がキッチンより来てくださり迅速に片付けと、子供の手を洗ってくれました。ニコニコしたがら対応してくださり、お世話になりありがとうございました。

Kleiner Tipp, kein Frühstück buchen, war ein Witz. Ansonsten wenn man vom zu harten/kleinen Bett absieht, ist es für eine Nacht echt praktisch. Es ist günstig, kostenloser Parkplatz und ein 7Eleven direkt im Untergeschoss.
