This resort and surrounding area of Fontana was excellent!! Stay in Fontana and on the resort where they have the best restaurants and little shops. The people are absolutely delightful in this area! The Avani spa is a must do! It has a beautiful tranquil and relaxing environment. Loved the salt room and pool area! I do not recommend visiting the city of Geneva on the opposite side of the lake/resort. It’s designed to rip you off! They charge $10 to walk on the 30ft size beach and will ticket you in a paid parking area for the dumbest reasons (they’re worse than Chicago). Anyway, I highly recommend the Fontana Abbey resort just be sure to get a view with the water! It’s exhilarating!

One of the best and cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Also, I left my laptop in the entrance lobby during arrival, and they kept it safe despite me realizing it is missing the next day. It is a great stay and will definitely be back.

The resort overall was very nice. Our room was clean. A bit noisy at times, but not terrible. The 240 restaurant was great. The food was really good and our waiter was fantastic. I would recommend especially if you have a family.

The bartenders at the Waterfront restaurant were great, attentive, and fun. Carlos and Isiah. The second day we went to the bar, Carlos had our drinks made as we were walking up to the bar-that’s great service! Food was ok, the chicken Caesar wrap-I would never order again but the pulled pork sandwich was good. We did complain about our neighbors as the TV was on all night , we could hear it through the walls and we weren’t putting up with that the following night. Staff took care of it right away. My husband and I have been coming to this resort for over 10 years, this is the first time that I’d say our stay was just ok. The staff is always great.

the stay was uneventful and the resort is nice. i arrived later at night, and it took me 20 minutes to find my room, enlisting middle of night maintenance workers to help find my way - they had difficulty too. there is very little signage. it was comical. the property is very large with lots of buildings and rooms. for expedia users, they charge a resort fee on top of the price you are booked in at.

The staff was okay. For me, no one went above and beyond. Through Hotel.com I was not eligible for any other credits offered to guess that book directly with the hotel. So in essence I paid more through booking with 3rd party.
It's a beautiful property. Very relaxing and at this time of year not a lot of people, which was just what I needed.

The resort is beautiful and had tons of activities for all ages. The restaurants were excellent and the staff was super customer oriented. We really enjoyed our stay. The only complaint is that the adults only pool area is part of the spa and you have to pay $50/day to swim there.

The Abbey is an icon and worth a stay IF you can get an affordable rate. It’s an old hotel so don’t expect things to be perfect. Despite them continually coating things in white paint it doesn’t take long or much effort to find things wrong/worn with the hotel. The room was clean enough but had red stains on the carpet and the bathroom needs an update, thorough cleaning, and caulk update. The spa is their main selling point but even there things like the steam room are in desperate need of more cleaning, tiles replaced, etc. It was worth the stay but keep your expectations lower and then you won’t be disappointed.

Also there were no chairs on our patio. the resort is clean and nice, but definitely older. could use a few updates in the guest rooms. overall very clean and nice, definitely had old-fashioned, family friendly summer resort feel with campfire and smores nights, movies, and other activities to participate in.

The property is an old Wisconsin lake front resort. There is no getting around that but they take such good care of the rooms and all of the facilities that it makes up for it. We stayed in a standard room which is obviously older but it’s super clean and really well taken care of. We had Easter brunch which was delicious. If you want an old fashioned Wisconsin lakefront resort vibe this is it.

Our King room faced the harbor which was a beautiful April view! The room was a good size for two with a couch and coffee table. I wasn’t a fan of the shower head because you couldn’t adjust it. I’m short so the water was showering my face and I couldn’t avoid getting my hair wet. The resort was clean and the grounds were well maintained. Unfortunately, the pool was a no go because it was over capacity. There were children in the hot tub so we didn’t use it either. Fortunately, there was the Avani Spa, an adult only, spa with a hot tub and pool. It was very nice but for a price of $50 per person. The lady at the front desk was not very polite; still a nice, relaxing, experience! The only time we ate at one of the restaurants was the 1024 which was not a good experience! We called about the breakfast schedule and we were told breakfast was served until 11:00. When we got there it was a breakfast buffet with no menu option. We tried the buffet but all the food, which was limited for the price, was cold! Of course we didn’t eat it and the manager seemed irritated that we complained. We did get a recommendation to Sammy’s On the Square which was delicious! We enjoyed visiting with Carlos, the bartender at 290 West which is inside the resort. It was a nice place for a nightcap and the piano player added a wonderful ambiance. We woke up on Easter to a Easter Bunny handing out candy and they offered two Easter Egg hunts on Easter. It’s wonderful for families with activities daily!

I have stayed here multiple times. It has always been my husband and I’s get away spot. This last time we stayed it was unfortunately a different experience. It was so incredibly loud we couldn’t sleep. There were children running around everywhere we went unsupervised by any parents. It made our stay very unpleasant. I myself have children but I would not allow them to disrupt others that way. Especially late at night.

I’d also like to address the salad I got from room service. I paid over $20 for a salad and it was so incredibly small and the lettuce was browning.

Lastly, about an hour after I checked out I realized I forgot an item in the room. I called the front desk and explained the situation and that I live an hour away but my husband was still in the area, if they could please go check for my lost item. They said they couldn’t do that and forwarded me to a lost and found. They wanted me to fill out a form and they would get back to me…. I called back and said can we please have someone just go check the room it was super close to the front desk to begin with. They said I’ll forwarded you to house keeping. Housekeeping didn’t answer. I called back up to the front desk and got another person and it was as easy as okay! Yeah let me check!

I’m very upset at my visit this time.

The Abbey Resort and Spa was spectacular! The staff from the front desk, restaurants, bars, spa, activities, security and cleaning were always helpful, considerate and attentive.

Their communication via text messages and email to me before I arrived and during my stay kept me well informed.

They have something very special here! I'll tell all my friends about the Abbey. I'll definitely return as well. Please keep the light on for me. 😉

Abbey resort has everything you can ask for - spacious, spread out by Lake Geneva with views from every spot and have amenities that makes it a one space for all your recreational vacation. The property has a fantastic Avani swedish spa and salon connected to the resort building, which adds a great getaway for couples or young adults to pamper themselves.

We had a wonderful one-night stay at Abbey Resort and Avani Spa. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable, which made it easy to relax as soon as we arrived. The view was absolutely beautiful and really added to the overall experience.

Everything felt well maintained, and the atmosphere of the resort is perfect for a peaceful getaway. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.

The Hot Tub was really nice we all enjoyed in it. Pool had balls to play so everyone had fun. Food was nice n big portions could not easily complete it. They need to provide complimentary breakfast instead of paid buffet. Also reception desk should never be left empty someone always needs to be present to attend your clients. One time there were two receptionists at desk but they were busy talking with each other and when I was trying to get operator on phone from my room no one picked up. Also the housekeeping are around the rooms and even if told do not clean the room unless we tell at reception to be cleaned while we are out for couple of hours. Location wise good everything close by. Nice fire pits for families to enjoy snores together and arcade for kids so everyone has something to keep them busy. Thanks to all staff for keeping us entertained and well served. Would love to go again in Summer.

We stayed one night with a very late check out for a fee. My family of 3 just wanted a relaxed break and hangout in the spa. We enjoyed the stay and the break and it’s what we came for. The hotel is beautiful, we booked the harbor view room. There was a bonfire and smores and we loved it! We got a day pass for the spa, the sauna, steam and salt room was a treat! We hangout at the adults only pool for hours, napped, read, listened to our music, unlimited coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The whole-day pass to the spa was worth it! We went in the morning and again in the afternoon. The pool needs some updating though, it needs a facelift.

Over the weekend, I had to ask the front desk twice to fix it and it was never done. Restaurant service was poor also.

My partner and I were excited to visit Lake Geneva for our anniversary after seeing strong reviews and photos online. We booked a king room with a resort view for two nights. Before arrival, trying to extend our stay by one night took multiple calls, transfers, and long hold times, which was our first red flag.

At check in, we were told our reserved resort view was unavailable and were “upgraded” to a pool view, even though the pool was closed for winter. Staff insisted this was a better option and neither addressed the fact that we did not receive what we booked. After 10 minutes of back and fourth, we were given only $30 of breakfast vouchers, and no further discount was given. We were exhuasted and didn't want to start our stay on a bad note so we went on

The room had several issues, including a broken blind, a torn chair, dirty grout in the shower, and extremely poor drainage in both the sink and shower that was painfully slow to clear. This made us question the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the room. Around the property, we also noticed visible wear and tear and poor signage for basic amenities.

We used the vouchers for a Sunday brunch buffet that cost about $75 per person. The seafood had a strong, unpleasant odor, the meats were tough and bland, and the waffles were nearly cold.

Overall, the stay was disappointing, especially for a special occasion. We left early during a snowstorm, relieved to go. This experience did not match the expectations set online.

The rooms were clean and the view from our room were just average, especially since it’s still winter/early spring. We had a lot of issues with our stay and the staff were nice about it, but ultimately useless with actually solving the biggest problem I had.

This is one of many poor situations I’ve encountered while staying here. It seems like it’s getting progressively worse as the years pass. I probably won’t be back.

The room was really clean, the bed was soft and comfortable, we had everything we needed and it is located in a really cool area- I was hesitant about not staying in Lake Geneva, however, I actually thing this area is even better- a chill lake vibe with a great cafe, adorable little bar and ice cream shop that you can walk to. There is a public beach right across the street and an amazing marina right in the backyard. The bar and restaurant look great too.

I would like streaming services readily available especially since spa times aren’t guaranteed. I’d also like options to be available in case a spa service isn’t available at Avani spa.
