Our suite was perfect! We stayed for 2 weeks, and felt like we were right at home! The whole staff was incredible! They were very accommodating, and extremely courteous. Perfect place to stay while enjoying Macroom, placed in the center of town. We walked everywhere! I would say that when we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to family. We will definitely be back!

The facility is pretty disjointed, long walk from parking with luggage-up and down multiple stairs. Room pretty dated, but clean. Staff was very friendly, multiple dining options and shops/dining wirhin walking distance.

The staff were absolutely brilliant. Extremely courteous and helpful.
The food was good as it has always been.
The foyer and downstairs areas ( bar, restaurant, breakfast room and coffee shop were also very good but the rooms were quite tired and need some refurbishment along with the upstair corridors.

Staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, the furniture in is dated and you can see that the hotel has not invested enough to bring it up to date. Also the cleaning should improve, especially in the bathroom. We expect more from a 4 star hotel for about 200€ per night.

The Castle Hotel, Macroon

Very direct route to Hotel from Cork.
Checked-in and was told of a Water notice - we were not allowed to drink the water not just in the Hotel but the whole Macroom region. Hotel provided bottled water for rooms. Ice was brought in from Supervalue and salad stuffs were washed in cooled boiled water.
Meals and service were very good. Sunday carvery is to “die for!!!”
Customers have access to the pool but we didn’t use the facility- “just in case!”
Price for three nights B&B was really good. I priced a lot of hotels in the cork area. The. Castle Hotel was the best value.
The Hotel is under renovation at the minute. It is tired and needs a lick of paint and a general face-lift.
Arrived, not knowing what to expect and left feeling very rested and satisfactorily pleased.
For us, the “water issue” was the only “down side”.

Nice place and amazing staff!

Nice hotel in the center of town. The staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us happy and comfortable. We arrived late and the front desk clerk quickly reserved us a table in the restaurant so we could get dinner before the restaurant closed. The food was delicious in the dining room and the full breakfast was tasty as well. The hotel is hard to spot when you’re driving through town. Once we found it we were very impressed.

Great location and the staff is incredibly friendly and will do what it takes to make your stay enjoyable. Several options included in the free breakfast. Beds were comfortable with ample pillows. We didn't have great wifi in our rooms, but didn't report it, so I wouldn't have expected them to do anything about it without knowing about our issue. Also wish they had a hot tub. Grateful for the availability of parking, but there are alot of people that use the amenities of the hotel (pool mainly, I assume), so it gets a little crowded at times, but we always found a spot. Overall, I would gladly stay there if I'm ever in the area again!

A hidden gem

Fantastic hotel from the outside its very decieving. A real tardus inside. Very clean, all staff from reception, to restaurant, to breakfast were excellent. Excellent size room and very clean. The only constructive comment would be that the ensuites and bedrooms, landings etc could be updated, but that wouldn't put me off coming back.

Overall our stay was fairly satisfactory. Room just fair. Food excellent.
We had prepaid for our accommodation so we were very disappointed & annoyed when on checking out we were presented with another bill for our stay.. Also, the staff member noted that we’d been celebrating both my husband’s & my birthdays- a bit late to notice this when we were leaving. It would have been nice for this to have been recognised with some token during our stay.
Overall a bit disappointed with our stay. More attention to detail needed.

Very friendly and helpful staff…we were going to be late arrivals 8.45 and rang hotel to let them know and were told food finishes at 8.15 and offered to keep us a chicken curry or sandwiches. Really nice breakfast. Stayed in the Castle many times over the years and it never disappoints

Historic Hotel with Good Amenities

This was a good option for staying outside of Cork without being too far away for a drive into the city. The hotel was a little hard to find -they could stand to improve their signage. Parking was readily available once you knew where it was at, which was great. The hotel is large, but be forewarned, they do hold events there and there was a loud party that lasted into the wee hours one of the nights we were there. The room was HUGE by European standards - as an American I was quite comfortable.

We were pleasantly surprised with the Castle Hotel in Macroom. The customer service was as good as a 5* hotel anywhere. The food was excellent. And thankfully we had air conditioning which was great because we were there during the 2021 heat wave.

Fantastic stay in the Castle Hotel. ALL staff were friendly and professional from start to finish. They couldn't do enough for us. Food was amazing - far better than usual hotel fare and very reasonably priced. Macroom is a diamond of a town. Every amenity within walking distance and a stunning river walk by the golf course ending in a beauty spot perfect for paddling and photo opportunities. We can't wait to go back!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The parking is right next to the hotel. They have a lovely swimming pool. The hotel is older and the Fatima is beautiful. The bar offers a variety of food and spirits. Breakfast is made to order at your request. The staff is very accommodating and extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very nice, the beds were comfortable, there is air-conditioning And bottles of water and provided in your room. Porters are available on request. They are very friendly and take great care with your luggage.

The hotel has a lot of history attached to it. The staff was amazing. We ended up having a dead car battery the next morning and Katherine, the hotel manager, called a tow truck for us and went above and beyond to make sure we were able to continue on with our travels. Hotel restaurant was fantastic for dinner and then breakfast the next morning. My family loved the pool.

Great little hotel on the road through Ireland!

Wonderful litte hotel in a great location, about 30 minutes from Blarney. The front desk folks were very kind and helpful. Would recommend-our stay was great! Clean and comfortable place . The bar was open late when we arrived and had a great meal with a great server. Can't say enough about this place-check it out!

My wife & I had a short summer break to West Cork it was our second visit this hotel in the past few years. Lovely property & staff, private car park, nice room, great food, swimming pool & steamroom! Very central to all the attractions West Cork has to offer, so much to see & do also lovely walks just outside along the river! Highly recommended!!

Generally a Pleasant Experience

The Hotel is lovely and cosy, the reception and bar staff are very friendly and accomodating. The food tastes great in the bar. Rooms are clean, warm and relaxed. This is my third time staying in the hotel, and my only concern is that I have a restrictive diet (gluten intolerant). While most of the staff are excellent to source the right food to allow for a comfortable stay, unfortunately I did experience one waitress at the breakfast not so considerate. On one ocassion when I asked if the sausages were really gluten free, she said they were. My partner tasted mine and said they were not. I then asked the head waitress and she knew instantly they were not gluten free and changed them immediately. Generally it has been a pleasant experience to stay in this hotel.

Warm welcome and reception/ check in, but two flights of stairs from the car park to reception! There is a choice of venue for snacks or meals, and the breakfast choice is good with food cooked to individual orders. Our room was newly re- furnished with excellent decoration and furniture- it was also clean, and well equipped with tea/coffee making cabinet, ironing board and iron, and bottled water , television.

Very friendly and helpful staff. There is no elevator and no bellman but no problem. They will get a staff member to carry your luggage to your room . The young lad who helped us even decline the tip we offered . Had dinner at the hotel. Food was very well prepared. Great presentation and delicious .

A lovely welcome and whilst the room didn’t have a great view is was comfortable in every other way - good even in the bar the food was fabulous and dinner was amazing.

A really nice hotel in a perfect location right in the middle of the town that's a great location for touring West Cork. Great atmosphere with friendly and very helpful staff. Great leisure centre with swimming pool and the usual extras. Excellent bar/restaurant with a really excellent menu. There's also a restaurant that we didn't try and a coffee shop at the front of the hotel. We upgraded our room and it was a good standard with tea/coffee, bottled water, TV, safe and air conditioning. The bathroom had a shower and jacuzzi bath and was well appointed and very modern. Over the style and finish of the hotel was really good although the carpet on the stairs was a bit worn on the edges of some of the steps. This is just a note and didn't affect our stay in any way.

Lovely over-night stay

Having a personal problem with our room, it was quickly and courteously sorted out to our great satisfaction. The food was great (dinner and breakfast). All staff were very accommodating.
It was lovely to see signs in the Irish language and in the old Gaelic type. Go raibh maith agaibh. I would certainly stay there again.

Charming hotel in a quintessential Irish Village

The Castle Hotel in Macroom is a lovely pit stop if you are visiting Southern/Western Ireland. It's just north of Cork- we stayed in between a visit to Cork/Blarney and on our way to Cliffs of Moher- it's a great location for Ring of Kerry, as well. The hotel was comfortable and clean, with a great bar. The room itself was a bit dated but well furbished and all needs were accommodated.

We didn't stay long enough to use their gym or pool. We enjoyed a walk in town and along the river. There's a cool castle ruin just down the street, and a lovely river walk just below the castle. Explore! You'll be glad you did.

This was a 4 night stay, a very late booking and our first trip to Ireland.

We were not disappointed, from the very warm welcome in reception, the friendly attentive staff in the vibrant restaurant/bar and the great food made it memorable.

The room was well appointed and clean. If we were to be a little picky the corridor outside was a little noisy at times, it was ok for us but may annoy some others.

This was an ideal location for what we wanted to do and with so much more to see in Cork and Kerry we will definitely be back.
