Everything was excellent. Location, condition, super clean and amazing staff. Aliscenery is a modern building. Good standard all over. Good design and good taste. There are some beautiful walks, all well signed, just minutes walk from Aliscenery. The area is stunningly beautiful. The rooms has huge windows and it’s rather like a live tv right before your eyes. The scenery changes constantly with the sea of clouds moving throughout the day. Amazing. Aliscenery is right in a tea plantation. Super cool. The views here are much better than higher up in Alishan. Here you can see the views and are not in the middle of the forest. The team speak some English which made things easy. They helped arrange a taxi to collect us from Fenqihu. They also sent the walking route map to us my WhatsApp. Super helpful. The evening hotpot meal was very good. Good quality food and really fresh. We stayed 2 nights and loved it.

I absolutely loved my stay at Aliscenery. The view was breathtaking. Ian from the front desk was extremely helpful during our stay and spoke English, which helped. I recommend our driver, Mr. Lin. The B&B will recommend a few drivers because haling a taxi or calling an uber is next to impossible in Alishan. Mr. Lin was attentive, courteous, and considerate. He didn’t speak much English but would use Google Translate and tell us about Alishan and places to see during our rides in Alishan. Aliscenery was clean and I liked that they served dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was included but you will need to make reservations for dinner before a certain time. I believe it was before 4 pm. Dinner was hotpot with a choice of either beef or pork. It was well worth it! You can do a free tea tasting experience. The tea leaves were harvested from their very own plantations. It was an amazing experience overall and I would recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in Alishan.

Very beautiful hotel and view. The looks of it is very relaxing. Very accomodating host. They pick me up in the Shizhou bus stop and drop me off the next day. There's a nearest tea plantation trail, sunset trail and sunrise trail. Hotpot dinner is great.

This was our 3rd stay at this property this year (in 4 months), and we drove 4 hours from Taipei to enjoy this piece of paradise, which we never got tired of! The property is now predictably good and feels like home now :-).

We were not made to feel welcome. Children were left out to play loudly outside of our room until about 8 pm in an area that seemed like the family compound. Not what we thought we reserved. A staff member did pick us up and drop us off promptly at the local bus stop which we appreciated.

A paradise high on the hills.

Alishan B&B Yunmingi perched high on the hills and is in close vicinity to the regional scenic trail system. We stayed in the more historic part of the B&B and fully enjoyed the view and many unique high-altitude plants in the courtyard. The room, though historic, has been modernized with comfort and conveniences. The B&B runs like a well-managed hotel, with attention to details, but all the warmth and personal touches of a B&B. We loved it!

Amazing stay

It was the perfect place to stay for Alishan. We stayed in the newer block. The rooms were new, spacious and very clean. They did not have central or room heating, but they had electric heated beds and heated bathrooms. Which made for very comfortable showers and sleep.

We did not try their hotpot dinner, but you can order in advance if you prefer eating there instead of driving out 15 to 20 min in the mountains for your dinner. They also served Alishan Highlands Oolong Tea in the evening, which was wonderful. The tea was grown on-site, and as you enjoyed your tea you could chat with the staff to learn more about the area.

Our room had a wonderful view of the surrounding tea plantations. I think most rooms have good views. We faced west, so we couldn’t see the sunrise from our room at dawn. Nevertheless, the colour of the morning sky, over the sea clouds, was beautiful. And we didn’t even have to step out of our room to enjoy it. I also went up to the rooftop balcony to get a better view. From the balcony, you can see the sun peeking over the mountains in the east as it rose higher in the sky. And enjoy the changing colours over the landscape.

Service was also very good. They also showed us a 40min route to a better viewing area to catch the sunrise. But we didn’t wake up early enough to make the walk.

Our room has a beautiful view of the tea farm and you can get a even better view of the mountains when you get to the roof top. Simple but elegant room with a comfy bed. The staff is friendly and provide freshly cooked breakfast and tea after meal. The only drawback is the transportation unless you have a car. They do provide convenient shuttle service from Fenchihu and the next morning the staff took us to the bus station to visit Alishan National Park (about an hour drive). Had we known how serene and peaceful this place was we would have stayed at least two nights here. Would definitely come back again!

Kudos to all the staffs! They were very helpful and observant to all our needs. Making you feel like home. The room was very clean, toilet was spotless. The toilet and mattress heaters were wonderful, worked really well. There is only trails and sceneries around the area, no restaurant or eateries nearby. My Husband and I stopped by a 7-11 in town to get snacks and drink before we came up. Their hotpot dinner was pretty good and ingredients were fresh, but the beef was ok-ish only. My Husband and I bought sake from 7-11 to go with the hotpot. Amazeballs. Definitely will come back again!

Beautiful out of this world stay

The B&B / Hotel is beautiful. Run clearly by the owner of the team farm, the rooms are beautifully furnished and renovated. It is aided by even more beautiful scenery and gorgeous surroundings. The only con is the location which makes it hard to reach and get to so you would have to get a driver to ferry you and and out of the mountains. However I would highly recommend it despite the trouble. A night stay here was well worth the journey as you get to soak in the beautiful mountain air and scenery.

Breathtaking view of the tea plantation and mountains from the room and the hotel roof top! Room has 2 big beds to accommodate a family of 4. Nice steamboat dinner shortly upon arrival at the hotel. Home feel. They even had a mini bus arranged to take interested hotel guests to a nearby park, about 30 mins drive from the hotel, to watch fire flies for a small fee per person. Superb fresh air at the mountain top. Will visit again!

The hotel was far from fenchihu. As we arrived early, we made the call to the hotel and the receptionist who picked up the call was rude and impatient when she explained that the car can only pick us up after 3pm. Also, the B&B refuses to drive its guests to any attractions, instead settling for dropping us off at bus stops. Travellers take note.

Sunrise is slightly blocked by mountain before it rises above mountain. Sunset is perfect!!!

This stay is most memorable! Highly recommend!

A nice, quiet homestay

Getting to this place was an adventure in the blinding Alishan fog! There were many hairpin turns and one lane road to get to this place. But we got a welcoming hotpot dinner once we arrived.

The homestay is located among tea farms so it's very quiet and quaint - just the thing for sun-rise-watching or a stroll among the bamboo groves in the back.

Need good weather to enjoy its surroundings

The staff who picked us up at Fengqihu was unfriendly and unhelpful. He drove very fast up the windy road in the thick fog which scarred us and made us felt dizzy. The lady staff who helped us during check-in was friendly. There were many rules and instructions given which made us felt quite stressed. Hotpot dinner was pre-ordered. Portion was quite big but the meat did not taste nice. Breakfast was very good. The room was freezing cold although electric blankets were provided. Would had been better if there were heater in the room instead of humidifier. We did not see any sunset or nice view as it was pouring when we arrived and the fog was very thick. The next day it continued to rain. It was a wasted trip. Paid so much but did not see anything much.

Staff went a long way to help!

We stayed at Alishan Yun Min Gi B&B recently and found the room as described. We had a minor problem (toothache on a Friday evening) and they were good to drive us to a local surgery to get some advice and pain relief. As we were in the mountains with no transport, we were grateful for the help that we got, which enabled us to continue with our travel plans without much disruption. Top marks for helpfulness!

Overall hotel review

This is the worse hotel that i encounter throughout my whole 9days Taiwan trip, other then the beautiful sight of Alisan everything is a nightmare. Me and my wife are looking forward to visit Alisan , we travel 3hrs 30mins and spent NT4500 from Sun Moon Lake to Alisan, as we reached the hotel at 2pm the nightmare begins.Firstly the automated gate was closed, we intercom and the guy came out to verify and says that we booked other hotel that also belongs to them that is further uphill, btw the picture shows only their new hotel outlook and rooms Trust me, if u saw the outlook of their old hotel you will not ever consider staying, maybe this is the reason y they nvr put in the photos. We reached there at 2pm and a lady with a terrible attitude brought us up and says that the check in time is at 3pm while all the room is empty so we left and came back at 3pm. The first thing we saw when we came back is 2 huge dogs welcoming us and no one else, we waited for 30mins in the freezing weather waiting for someone to check us in but there is no one there at all, end up we walk all the way back to the new building and the same girl attended to us saying that we sld call them before we reach. I mean what the hell right....they already expectingus to check in at 3pm abd they can still leave no one there, expecting us as a tourist to use our pgone to call their local number ....seriously i dun mind if they pay my bills.Btw if we want to have our breadfast we need to walk to the new buildi

Top 5 reason to go back to Taiwan

This place is fantastic! The views from the room and the roof was better than the trip to the Alishan park area. You’re able to catch the sunset, view a starry night and take a 30min walk to catch the sunrise all within the area of this B&B as long as the skies are clear. They have a pick up/drop off service from/to a bus stop infront of a convenience store. All you have to do is to call them using the payphone infront of the convenience store and they’ll usually be down within 15 minutes. The tea that they grow is also excellent and the staff are knowledgeable about their products.

Nice hotel close to fengqihu

Nice hotel near Fengqihu station. If you are taking the Alishan train up from Chiayi, it will end at fengqihu. This hotel is about 10mins away from the station by car, and if you inform the staff beforehand they will fetch you at 3 in the afternoon, giving you ample time (3hrs) to explore Fengqihu small town. There are lockers at the station to put your stuff for 50TWD. If you want to catch the sunrise at Zhushan be prepared to wake up at 2.30am in the morning to take a car up. However they have another lookout which is a 30min steep hike to see the sunrise from the hotel. You will only need to wake up at about 4am for this and is the option I opted for. However it's not as nice.
Staff was very helpful and went out of their way. My younger Son got very sick up here and started throwing up at 9 pm at night all the way through, The staff fetched us to the clinic about 10mins away when they didn't need to and it was really dark and foggy too so big kudos to them. Also assisted us with food choices for him the next day for breakfast.
To Alishan if you would like to take a bus the staff can fetch you to Shizhuo and it's 40mins ride up.
I would highly recommend staying here

A getaway in the clouds

Our family of 7 spent 2 nights at Yunmingi and it was an amazing experience for all of us. We booked 2 family rooms at the new wing, rooms were new, clean and well kept.
We had the hotpot that the hotel offers (at an additional twd400 each) on the second night out in the verandah, the ingredients were normal but the experience was memorable.

It was a very comfortable place to stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Lovely hotel in the middle of nowhere

Driving here was tricky. The roads are very narrow, and the map/directions included with hotels.com is not accurate. I had to find it by calling the management. There are also two locations, so be sure which is the correct one for your reservation. That said, I had the biggest suite at their upgraded location so it was pretty amazing for the price. If you are looking for a quiet place with a great view, this is the perfect hotel. Breakfast is also included, and changes slightly day to day. Be aware that sunrise is easily missable from this hotel because of the direction it faces, but sunset is perfect. Just head out early and catch the sunrise from another vantage point and you'll be fine.

Cosy Minsu at near Alishan

I was impressed by the service level of the Minsu even before our stay. We had been communicating through Expedia on the transport as well as dinner so as to ensure expectations were met on both ends. Pick up was arranged accordingly from Fengqihu to the Minsu. Check in was prompt and we were brought to our room which we were pleasantly surprised. The room was pretty spacious even for 4 of us and very clean and also a nice little balcony. We had arranged for a hotpot dinner which was pretty yummy. It had been raining that evening so it was really comforting having a hotpot. We decided to sleep early so that we could catch the sunrise. Unfortunately the next day, the fog was too thick and we couldn't catch the sunrise, so we continued to sleep in. Breakfast was typical taiwanese style with porridge and dishes.
Other than the weather, we really enjoyed our stay here. Would come back again if visiting Alishan.

The Hotel is located in the midway to Alishan National Scenic Area, surrounded by Tea Farms. There are many beautiful hiking trails passing through the TEA farms. You will see the Cloud Sea flowing around the top of the mountains during the sunset. It is easy to access any public transportation to any nearby towns. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Restaurants, Food Store, Public Transportations are nearby of 5 minutes drive or 30 minutes walk. BTW, my room has no air-conditioner during my visit in late summer. Make sure to bring your rain gear during summer. Make sure you have enough Cash too. Highly Recommended and will visit again.

Nice B&B on a tea plantation

We got to Chiayi much later than expected and had to take a cab up to the bus station and a B&B staff picked us up from the bus station. Even with a car, this B&B is bit hard to get to because it's higher up in the mountain. However, the scenery was fanstastic since the buildings are right next to tea plantations. There are short trails around the B&B where you can climb for a pretty good view. The room we got was wood and beauitfully decorated. The photos do not do it justice.

The staffs were friendly and helpful and genuinely caring people. You can also try and buy tea from the owner's tea farm. Breakfast was good and came with fresh salad (which is harder to come by in Taiwan) along with other traditional Taiwanese breakfast food. The only complaint is that neighboring dogs were howling throughout the night so it was hard to sleep. Other than that, great place to stay for Alishan!

This bed and breakfast is a fantastic location for those wanting to visit Alishan, but not wanting to deal with the crowds. It is located within the serene hillsides that border the tourist attraction and is surrounded by tea plantations. In the mornings and evenings, you will be greeted with amazing sunrise and sunset scenery while you enjoy the company of other guests out on the property's front porch or the peace and quiet of your own well-appointed suite.

The only thing I would have different is that the bedding provided looks a bit thin. By swapping it out for something that appears more upscale, it would really complete the appearance that this otherwise wonderful location is going for.

Surrounded by tea plantations and forest

As a nature lover and birdwatcher, I loved staying here. Within a few minutes walk through tea plantations, you can be in the bamboo-cypress forest. The scenery is unbeatable. To get here, I rented a car. (I wanted to drive around and explore the mountains. I came prepared with the address in Chinese and the car rental people set up the GPS for me, which worked just fine.) But I would not recommend driving in Taiwan for the unadventurous or for families, as it is dangerous by American standards. My companion and I stayed in one of the home stay rooms, which had nice wooden floors and clean amenities. There is also the hotel building, where breakfast is served. The hotel offers hot pot for dinner. It would be nice if the hotel served lunch and something besides hot pot for guests who don't have transportation to go into town, which is a hike.

Booked this hotel mainly because of the mountain view, and was so surprised by how well the property was furnished and maintained. The 4-person deluxe room was huge and was equipped with a fantastic bathroom, and the toilet seat was even heated which was a bonus for a chilling day. The room was clean and neat and extremely comfortable with sufficient lounge area for everyone. And the balcony was a value add for my family to enjoy the view and fresh air. The property is nearly an hour drive from Alishan but a quick 10min drive to Fengqi Lake, and you will definitely need to hire a car to move around. There's very limited activity around the property but it's a great place if you just want to relax and do nothing. The only downside is there is no baby cot provided but we managed to live with it. Overall this is THE BEST minsu during my entire trip in Taiwan, and would love to come back again one day.

Very big and nice room with beautiful scenery but the room was a little bit too cold for comfort. The small heater does not help. Good quality breakfast.

Top of the Mountain in a Tea Plantation

Great view! Impossible to find on your own - english-speaking mgr Grace comes down into Shizou to meet you. Get there early before the clouds come down in the late afternoon! Ask for a space heater/radiator in the room. Room is smaller than it looks in photos. The duvet is not large enough for the bed, although there is a mattress heater. TV gets 20 Chinese-only stations. We paid for a balcony, but there was no furniture so just the mosquitoes enjoyed it. Limited hours - early morning and evening - for hot water. No food allowed in room, but pleasant communal eating area in lobby - try their tea. Breakfast was light, Asian and good. Plenty of parking and good WiFi.

Simple Accomodation on Scenic Mountainside

We stayed here for one night, having visited nearby Fengqihu. Our room was clean and spacious, the shower provided hot water with good pressure. Breakfast was adequate. Neither my wife, nor I had a good sleep - maybe the bed comfort could be improved.

Awesome place in the mountains!

Being up in the hills has its perks - an awesome view. We were literally above the clouds. It's exceptional to wake up to the view of mountains and vast sky. Room is very clean and the bathroom is huge. Hosts were also helpful to guide tourists on where to explore. The only challenge is the way up to the accommodation since it's up in the mountains, you either need to hire a driver or self-drive; but you must be an experienced driver to maneuver those narrow mountain roads. And hot water is only available from 7am - 10pm.

A good view of the natural wonders in Alishan

There isn't enough words to justify this area. The homestay is perched up on top of a hill that overlooks the sea of clouds and the magical sunset. Surrounding it are the tea plantations that adds to the ambience. It is just breathtaking watching them all. The lady at reception was telling us that it wasn't everyday that we can get to see the clouds coming over the mountains and enveloping them.

The room was just great. We book the quad room which was on the 2nd last floor. They had lots of power points with a mix of international and Taiwan-based sockets which is great and WIFI can be accessed into the room. The sunset and sea of clouds can be seen from our room as well as the tea plantations. Good view from the toilet as well, not important,but really creates a gd ambience overall. For sunrise, I would recommend to go to the roof.

Can't comment on the breakfast since we couldn't eat much of it due to dietary reasons.

We had a good stay although it was only 1 night.

Pleasantly surprised

Was pleasantly surprised by the location (should have done more research), service and views this place had. Let me start off by saying, this is not Alishan, it is so far away from it, but you can see the mountains from up here and the views you get in the morning when there's no fog (it gets wayy foggy at night, drivers take care) are simply breathtaking. The place is a family run business and they are the nicest bunch of people, the breakfast is great and their hot pot while a little pricey was very nice.
This place is perfect if you have a car (you will need one or you can get the owners family to drive you to and from the bus stops/stations) and out of all the hotels I've stayed in Taiwan, this one impressed me the most.
Also I should say that we stayed in the old building, but room was renovated so it was quite clean and even had a Japanese toilet.
If you like early morning hikes this is the place for you!
(PS be careful about guard dogs in the area- just ignore them and don't do sudden movements)

Never get to stay!

We were told to change to another hotel on the day of check in because the toilet of the room we booked for was damaged by the guests before us. Though this place has great review, we never get to stay. Instead they arranged for us to stay in another B&B just a few street away which was quite good. However this B&B definitely not worth the amount we paid @ Yunmingi

Beautiful Hotel and Wonderful Staff

A Fantastic experience! The Hotel is very clean and modern, but what made it exceptional was the friendliness of the staff! At one point, our driver couldn't pick us up the next morning to take us to the bus station (about a 40 min drive), but one of the hotel owners offered to drive us up at 4 am! He even had breakfast ready to go! Also, they offer a hot pot dinner (choice between pork or beef) and it was no less exceptional than the service provided. The accommodations of the hotel are nice and clean (with a very modern feel). Open space in the room, flat screen tv, wood floors, and a fantastic view with a step out balcony so you can view the tea fields and the mountains. We could see the sun set that very first night over the mountains. Overall, I can't help but want to come back again when I visit Alishan Mountain.

Great views from the hotel

Great views from the hotel for both sunrise and sunset without the need to go with the crowd to touristy spots. Walking trails just a short distance away. Staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions, local information and accomodating your requests.

Alishan midway for a stay.

Add this place to your itinerary to Alishan! Its actually midway up Alishan from Chiayi, where you can also visit Fenchihu old street for Famous Benton meal, Donut, Ai-Yu Drinks.

The place is far from any convenient store, so stock up before calling the hotel staff to pick you up at the Hi-Life store waiting area.

My room is the old building where price and comfort meets. The view of stars atop the new building is fabulous. I will stay again if I'm going Alishan again.

这个民宿在周边民宿中算是鹤立鸡群，楼看起来就比较高级，周边茶园景观也很好。工作人员非常友好热情，晚上可以预定小火锅，超值美味卫生，非常值得。需要改进的问题是被子非常不舒服，king size的床配了个twin size的被子，并且被子和被罩极不服贴，稍微睡一下就被芯和床单分离，各揉成一团，很不舒服。另外没有冷气空调，虽然高山上温度不高，但夏季出去玩回来没法降温，只能靠风扇。希望将来能改进。总体来说还是很不错的。

非常推薦！

早餐吃到飽，料理的很好吃，另有高山茶與自製豆漿都很推。

房間很大很舒服，住宿景觀佳，可惜的是入住期間只能看到一片白牆。

店主有自製茶葉販售，也預先購買春茶請店主之後再寄送。

等天氣好的時候值得再回訪。

Poor quality and dated facilities

The facilities are kind of old. The sofa in our room is stained and the hair dryer can't work. Every electrical equipment, such as the dehumidifier, the air conditioner, the bathroom dryer, are very noisy. The quality of the towel is poor. Be careful the road to the hostel is very narrow.

Beautiful moutain and friendly hosts

Good experience of staying in a quiet country side. Clean bedroom and cosy wood decoration. It is relaxing. Sound proof is not very good but it is alright because it is not noisy here. There are few bugs flying but that is normal for mountain area like here. Learn to enjoy the beauty of nature is more important when comes here. Tea field is really beautiful around.

要訂此間的請注意⚠️

民宿業者不應該把舊館房間的照片混在新館裡讓客人誤會！

我們在此頁訂了兩晚，用導航到了目的地，才發現是三合院鐵皮屋，還以為搞錯了地址，被帶到房間後更傻眼，完全不是照片裡白色的那棟，而是鐵皮屋內的房間！

這已經夠讓我們為之光火！隔天的清掃，就只是浴巾毛巾與垃圾更換而已，房間內的地與浴室都沒清潔，備品用了隔天也沒補齊。而早餐是連兩天幾乎80%是重複的菜，了無心意！

訂之前奉勸各位先搞清楚哪種房間在哪一個館，以免難得的出遊因為住的地方而掃興了

沒有暖氣，天氣寒冷日子，只能靠電暖氈⋯⋯地點比較偏僻，自己揸車要小心因為沒有重要指示在大路！大路入小路後，又要揸極窄小路及沿途有幾條分支路，所以新手開車要小心同要揸慢一些！
