Istanbul is a city I visit every year, and this was my first time staying at this boutique hotel. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The property is spotless, with spacious rooms and an excellent location just behind İstiklal Caddesi—meaning shopping, restaurants, and nightlife are right on your doorstep. Taksim Metro is about an 8‑minute walk, and the Galata Tower can be reached in under 20 minutes on foot. Complimentary water was provided, and the hotel sits on a quiet street, making it perfect for a restful night’s sleep. The staff were generally pleasant and welcoming. However, my one disappointment—and the reason I am giving a 4 instead of a 5—was the reception experience. While most staff were kind, the lady at reception came across as cold and overly focused on selling overpriced tours and airport transfers (€70 one‑way, compared to under €5 by Metro). Despite my polite refusals, she repeatedly insisted, which detracted from the otherwise excellent stay. If not for this, I would gladly return to this hotel on my next trip to Istanbul.

Two staff at breakfast area named Gozde and Ayhan are very hospitable and amazing. The hotel is just 1 minute from Istiklal street and Taqsim square. Rooms are clean and convenient. We booked turkish hammam from hotel and we really enjoyed, also the Bosphorus tour that hotel offers was a great experience. I enjoyed my time in this hotel. I will miss Istanbul and this hotel and I hope I can come back again in near future. Thank you Mukarnas Taqsim for everything.

The place was old dirty run down not like the pictures. I wanted to leave they would not refund me before I checked in. The location was closed off so we had to walk our luggage's to the hotel more than 2.5 blocks. The lady in the Front said her breakfast is great. This was an amazing property. The staff couldn't help me enough. The room I had was large. It was clean. The picture is an old picture. They put in a ramp and tables and chairs outside.
The only problem is if you have a room on the front side of the hotel the restaurant noise across the street might keep you awake.
You may wonder where there taking you when you get taken to this property however it is worth it. I felt completely safe. I was a solo, senior, women traveling alone. I would go out in the evening to the main shopping and restaurant street just around the corner.

We loved it was 1 block from Taksim Square. The staff was excellent to work with. They had a strong command of english language. The free breakfast was the best. They had over 50 different food items. We had fresh squeezed orange juice. We had to head for the airport at 4 am. They arranged for a cab, and it was waiting at 4 am. We were returning from a Greek cruise, the hotel is just up the hill from the Cruise Port. We would definitely recommend this place, and are already looking forward to a return to Istanbul. This is a fantastic place.

We stayed for a couple of nights. Unfortunately, had the worst customer service experience. There electricity went out for about 50 minutes at night, and the management was clueless. It was fluctuating in the morning as well and the AC wouldn’t work. Upon complaining, they would just say 10 minutes, 10 minutes. If I’m paying over 100 euros at a ‘4 star’ hotel, then the least I expect is a working generator, and an apology of sorts instead of this our first experience also?

This was my second time staying at Mukarnas Taksim, the service has really gone down in a matter of three years. The hotel is short of staff. The lady at reception kept on answering phones in the middle of our conversation without apologising. We were two families who stayed in different rooms, we had a baby with us. During check-in, we were rushed to our room as our baby was tired and was crying. Behind us, the lady at reception informed our friends that our baby was creating a lot of nuisance so she had to rush us first to our room without knowing they were our friends - not polite at all! I’ve stayed in quite a lot of hotels now, and by far this was my worst experience in terms of service. We kept on informing them that our toilet sink was blocked but no one payed any attention. In terms of what we liked during our stay, the location was a top-seller. It’s in great proximity to Taksim square with all the transportation routes (metro, bus, taxi) and the quickest to the IST airport. 5 min walk to Istiklal Street, 15 mins to Galata Tower, 20 min downhill walk to Kabatas Ferry port. A lot of restaurants and Burger King, McDonald’s, Dominos etc. The Breakfast service was AMAZING!!! 5 stars to Gozde, Ayhan whom I jokingly called Ayran (Turkeys famous yogurt drink). They really made us felt better than our stay at any other 5 star restaurant we stayed, offered us free Turkish coffee which normally costed 2 euros, always made sure our baby was comfortable and entertained us.

Was very disappointed with my stay. The staff English was poor. The night guy didn’t seem helpful because he wasn’t fluent in English and charged me £42 for the transportation which was terrible because i waited so long in the cold for my driver to come. Wasn't drivers fault but the system. Terrible. Room was big but bathroom was so small. Also as a Muslim country you expect toilet facilities to be in line with our faith but No. English toilet, no good for me. Breakfast was good! They had my luggage at the main reception which is not safe at all. You just have to trust the reception guy. No ticket/ receipt given for my luggage too.
