Stay somewhere else!! The price did not match the quality of the hotel. Property is old and outdated and not very clean. Bed and pillows were not very comfortable either. Rugs were stained throughout. I will not stay here again. Front desk staff was nice but that is about the only positive I can give.

Don't order through Expedia though, it's way more expensive than going through the hotel directly!!

As expected this lodge is quite old. It is well taken care of with kind staff. The rooms were clean, I felt safe. There was a continental breakfast which had the items I needed. They were pet friendly. I believe most hotels are quite expensive for what they offer and this was no exception. Overall, I have no complaints.

Pros: staff were very friendly, they had extra “rollaway” beds (which are harder to find these days), they allow 24 hr access to pool & gym if you’re not being a disturbance, and the lobby is cute and cozy, with games and books available.

Cons: mold in two corners of our bathroom, ants attacked our pizza we had on a table in our room, wifi kept cutting in and out the entire weekend, parking lot is partially flooded, hallway smelled like cigarette smoke, and breakfast was not what I expected - bagels, toast, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, and that’s it (there was a pancake machine but it wasn’t working). With the smallest coffee cups I’ve literally ever seen lol. It was fine, but both days we had to go find breakfast that wasn’t just carbs and sugar and felt more substantial.

It’s a hotel. The price was right for us, so we can’t complain too much. We felt safe and could get sleep here, and that works for us.

We arrived on a Friday night. The parking lot was flooded due to severe area rains. The owners were working diligently to reduce the level of water. We were directed to park in the rear and had no issue doing so. I cannot and will not fault the owners. They were working very hard for those staying there.

I found the room clean and comfortable.

I know there have been derogatory comments about the continental breakfast. I saw plenty of options for food, however, there was a group of people that were taking so much food and putting it on their plates. This left the staff scrambling to restock and often. As soon as pastries were refilled, those that had food would cut in line to take more food while still having a full plate. While getting coffee, I reached for a creamer only to have a lady reach over me and just about take every one that was in the bin. I felt bad for the staff but she continued to work so others could have a breakfast.

I love this place and hope to stay again soon.

DON'T STAY HERE:
The water pressure was very low when we checked in, by 11:00pm there was no running water at all. The front desk said there was \"nothing they could do, this is winter in northern Michigan\". My family and I had to leave at midnight and drive 25 minutes to a hotel (Northwoods Lodge) that, thank god answered their phone and made it very easy to check in. I tried to contact the general manager multiple times but she will not respond to me about a refund. SAVE YOURSELF FROM THIS PLACE, drive a little extra and stay at NORTHWOODS LODGE, rooms are nicer, beds are softer and the price is about the same!

We stayed twice. Our 10/23-24 stay the staff was wonderful. The bathroom was not clean. Our 10/27-28 stay the staff was wonderful and the room was spotless
On both stays the pancake maker didn't work which was very disappointing.
Will come back on our next trip to Wisconsin.

The lobby sitting area was very nice and cozy. Typical upper Michigan decor. The entire staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly with anything we needed. However, attention needs to be paid to appearances of all behind desk staff. Some walked around with no shoes on, pants half way down with underwear showing. Pool and hot tub were very clean and kept up.
Room was clean but carpet was in bad need of a cleaning. Do not walk in room without something on feet. Shower was great, however bathroom sink lacked hot water and pressure. Really small TV in room. Beds were very comfortable.
Very disappointed in breakfast. Two days there was nothing hot to eat in the warmer; boiled eggs looked slimy and wrinkly. You could tell new eggs were put out on the 3rd day of our stay. One morning a stink bug was floating in the apple juice and we were entertained by a mouse running around in the entrance way. In all fairness to the mouse, it was cold outside and he just wanted to come in where it was warm. There was D-con behind plant for him to nibble on.
I know I probably sound like a “Karen” but all in all this is a great place to stay. Please don’t be discouraged. There are just a few things staff and owners need to work on.

Overall Great Stay!

Very friendly and attentive staff, the facility was clean, good location for our purposes (Mackinaw), and quiet.

Although rooms were a bit dated, everything worked and the beds were comfortable. We didn’t use the pool but it looked well maintained.

Breakfast was a true continental so convenient with basics such as cereal, oatmeal, and breads.

It met our needs and was very fairly priced. We would consider staying again if we are headed that way.

Worst breakfast ever. Hard boiled eggs with a paper-like texture on the outside. They offered pancakes, but only provided one syrup squeeze bottle that was near empty.
I ate a bowl of stale Cheerios and left. Not worth getting up for.

The best part of this place was the lobby and pool. The carpets were stained and dirty. Rust in the sink and tub which they said was because if the hard water, should have a fix for that. Beer can on the floor in the bathroom under the sink. I told the desk about it snd they said they would come pick it up. I had already taken care of it but wanted them to know the room wasn’t well cleaned. Later found a box in the fridge with one beer in it. We had the last room by the door . Very noisy and could hear people talking in the hallway. I would say the lady and gentleman at the front desk was very polite and friendly. From what I overheard from another guest staying there and come there every year for 10 years us all the staff walked out a week before. I would not go stay there again.

It is out dated which is fine. Breakfast was just random items. Example sausage links and biscuits. No gravey. Pancake machine was annoying most who used it.

Room was never cleaned. I even called front desk & requested it. Never came we had to stop daily for towels. Even had to request toilet paper.

We left the last night because the room was lacking. Also bedding is laundered in something harsh. I have stayed in many hotels first one the bedding made my skin itch.

The room and the bathroom were disgusting. The girl in the bathroom should be white, and it was almost black. They were pubic hairs.(I believe) left in the shower, there was a dead bug on the counter in the bathroom when we first arrived. They were stains throughout the carpet in the room. The rest of the property was great, our room and bathroom were not good.

No elevator to the second floor, doors in back of hotel were not locked at night/ no key card reader, at least they had good lighting in the parking lot. The breakfast coffee was very weak, gravy for biscuits was not good. Melissa was very helpful with the WiFi that I needed to work but had terrible time connecting. They tried to charge us $50/night for a pet before lowering the rate when we balked.

We stayed a few days at the Pellston Lodge . Check in was quick, everyone was friendly. The lobby is very comfortable and the breakfast was basically continental but happy they had that.

Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable . The room was a bit outdated but we were out and about a lot and were happy with our room. You ate just a short drive to the area attractions, tunnel of trees, Mackinaw city, etc.

Only downside for us was that the water in the bathroom was hard water and had that sulfur smell , did not enjoy that and showered less than usual. I would definitely stay here again but no more than one night if water situation the same.

I wouldn’t stay here again but to each their own…

The young lady at the front desk was okay, not super friendly but not exactly rude either. There is no elevator and I was there by myself with a newborn for a wedding so that was definitely not ideal. The room was super outdated and small which whatever, we didn’t need a ton of space. However, there were so many flies in my room, the garbage cans were so small you couldn’t throw anything legitimate away and the cleaning service never came. I had to take my trash to their super nasty dumpster (not like I’m spoiled, I take my own trash out every day, just not really what you pay for at a hotel.) I was told there was WiFi but wasn’t strong enough to actually do anything on my computer and the front desk told me it was because my room was so far away from the desk… ummm, okay. I couldn’t give my son a bath because as soon as you start to fill up the tub, the water is green! And never got hot enough to take an enjoyable shower, as enjoyable it could be knowing the water is actually green. The room at 65 degrees was sooo cold but at 66 degrees, it felt like the Sahara Desert. The bed was rock hard, which isn’t for me but works for some people. I was told there was a “hot breakfast” in the morning - it was super hard biscuits and gravy, hard stale bagels (I couldn’t even break one apart to put it in a toaster) and slimy hard boiled eggs. The ashtrays outside are directly by the door so all you smell when you walk in and out was stale cigarettes.

We turned around and walked out. It started with their inability to answer the phone, which caused us to walk from the airport, across the highway with luggage in hand. Then, when we finally got to the lobby, there was no one to greet us or check us in. There is no restaurant and we were hungry. We rang the bell 3 times only to give up and start a 10 minute hunt for a missing employee. Finally got checked in. There was no empathy for what we went through and no offer to take our luggage to our room, which, btw, was at the exact opposite end of the lodge. We’re now in our room. The trash can had trash in it; the room was hot; the AC was mediocre at best; the sink is stained and I had asked for a box fan in the reservation and there was no “I’m sorry, sir, but we don’t have a box fan”. Nothing. Not word one. So, we decided we had had enough and we would find a different place, closer to our destination. As we tell this to the front desk, asking for a refund, because we never did stay, he tells us he doesn’t have the authority to do that and we need to take that up with the manager. I’ll let you in on a secret….you can count on it! I say save your money and time. I mean the area has very poor internet, no ride share service and no restaurants outside the airport. Ok, I’m done with my rant. Thanks for listening.

The Pellston Lodge has been around for a few years, but it's still a good place to stay for when I see family in nearby Alanson. Melissa is a very nice person, as is her husband Phil, and Lucus who works evenings. The entire staff is nice. I'll be back when I come up from North Carolina.

Stayed there with my kiddos for the Mackinac Bridge Walk. Very nice property, only 20 minutes from the bridge. Great pool, too, for the little ones to swim. They began breakfast early at 4:00am for the early walkers, which was wonderful. It was nice to be able to eat there before we went to the bridge. Will be staying here again. Would definitely recommend this hotel! Thank you again for a great stay.

The good is that the people were friendly. The poor/ bad is everything else. No elevator for upstairs. We had to stay here for a family wedding on Doyglas Lake.The rates for this place are outrageous. $250-$350 @ night some of us paid with a 2 night minimum. It is very old and not very clean. The water smells and feels terrible and taste terrible. Our sink barely gave us water. The fan in the bathroom is so loud when u turn in the lifht it hurts your ears. The room was dirty. I went through with clorox wipes and lysol. Very dusty and I woukd not walk on the floor without shoes. The breakfast was disgusting. This place is a
complete waste of money. They should ve ashamed for what they charge.
