Lovely team that work at the hotel and restaurant. Great location to quickly be in the middle of Würzburg and to walk over the Main River to the other side. I was just a little disappointed with the size of my room this time, especially since I was traveling with my dog. It was a little tough to maneuver in the room with two suitcases and a dog. My room in April 2024 was more comfortable. Nonetheless, we managed and enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately a lot of construction, so work trucks etc in front of the entrance. Barebones in room; no coffee machine, 2 tissues left in the box, no bathroom supplies except for soap, one pillow each and rooms only get serviced every 3 days! I understand not replacing towels and sheets every day to be “environmentally friendly” but straightening sheets and making sure tissues are filled shouldn’t be too much to ask? On a positive note, the staff are very friendly and view is lovely.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It felt like we were staying in a bed and breakfast with a lovely restaurant. We were there for two nights and had a nice visit and really enjoyed eating in the restaurant one night. The breakfast was very enjoyable as well! The staff were very helpful with suggestions.

Wahlfisch is an excellent choice of hotels right on the Main River and within minutes to shopping and attractions in Würzburg. The twin beds in single rooms is not what Americans are typically used to, but they are comfortable and adequate.

Absolutely lovely place, clean double room, even had a private garage for your car/motorcycle. Staff were always wonderfully polite and friendly, and located close to the city center, 10-15min walk from 3-4 massive historical monuments, (castle, palace, church).

A nice moderately priced hotel across the river from the Fortress Marienberg. Conveniently located within 5 minutes of the tram. Easy walking to the town center as well. The rooms are a bit small, I had a twin but good enough for a few nights stay if one is organized with their belongings. Wish they had a refrigerator in the room as that would be helpful.

Site advertises laundry facilities. There are none. Desk clerk said we could send out to be laundered and MIGHT be back in two days. Also, asked at desk how to turn on HVAC system. Reply always it’s not working. Asked when fixed. Replied next week like who cares. Had to ask someone else for help. At least he provided a fan. Room was hot and stifling without air flow. Paid a high price for a hotel without a working air flow system.

Comfortable charming hotel by the river

Great location right by the river. Our 2 single beds room is small but has everything we need. The bathroom door is glass so if someone turns on the light in bathroom, the whole room is lighted. Maybe a watch out for a light sleeper.

Excellent in so many ways!

EXCELLENT! I called ahead with a few questions. I received accurate answers from a friendly and courteous gentleman. I mentioned we would need a parking spot. When checking in around 1730 Angelica was an angel and took great care with us. She walked us to our parking spot in a secure garage. There is limited paid parking here and apparently the nice gentleman had reserved a spot for us. Thank you! Our room had a king bed, a kitchenette with small fridge, hot plate, electric kettle, dishes, flatware, coffee cups, pots and pans. The fridge came with a few beers and water bottles. We enjoyed a few and were happy to pay for the thoughtfulness when we checked out. The bed was AWESOME! We slept like royalty. We were on the 1st floor which made it easy for us to bring our bikes to rest for the night. We did not have a view but we were only in the room to sleep. We spent our days exploring the city castles on our bikes. We did not eat at the hotel but the meals looked delish and there were many who were dinning there. Our trip was perfect as we celebrate 35 years as Mr and Mrs. If in town again we will stay here. It felt like everyone who works here may be the owner. Everyone served with care as if they owned the place. Excellent customer service.

Beautiful view but for the price wasn’t up to par.

Well, it started out very nice. Friendly check in nice room overlooking the river and castle. Hot day so we put the a/c and left for the city. Back at 11p and room is hot. Night person was amazing and moved us to different room. Would have thought at checkout we would have at least gotten the 12 euro parking comped. The hotel wasn’t cheap!

Great place to stay

This was our second stay of several days at Hotel Walfisch, having enjoyed the hotel two years ago enough to book again. The location is great, with a view of the river and easy walkable access to the town center. There is a charge for parking but it is close and safe. The room itself is very comfortable, This time we ate supper at the restaurant one night and it was delicious.
Wurzburg is a great town with lots to do and see, but this time we explored the surrounding countryside more and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hotel Walfisch is great!

Fantastic hotel experience! Very helpful and accommodating staff. Small rooms but sufficient for our small family, and the AC during the June heat was a blessing. Had a great view of the river and the Marienberg Fortress from our window. The food was also really good! The location was perfect for walking along the river, the All Saints bridge, and the cathedral. This hotel helped our European vacation start out right!

History is alive in Wurzburg.

Great location within walking distance of city center and all sights, and lovely placement on the River Main with great views of the castle across the river. Historic, and rather lovely building.
The comfort of the stay could be improved, however. The room was awkwardly shaped with a TV stand placed away from the wall, the carpet was very old and did not seem very clean, and the bathroom had a major water issue, so it was flooded after two showers.
Service was generally friendly, especially at breakfast, but the initial check in experience was very off putting, with front desk service rather diffident at best.

A Whale of a Hotel

The Walfisch service was excellent from walking in the door to say hello and getting step by step instructions on unloading baggage, claiming the room and parking the car. Breakfast was adequate. The supper we enjoyed was excellent. The desk staff helped us solve a difficult problem with our car after we checked out.

It's a nice hotel in a nice quiet area. Check-in was easy, check-out a bit confused.
On my last day I had the breakfast buffet for 12.50 euros. It was a smaller spread than a 12 euro breakfast spread that I had at another hotel in another city.
The room was a good size and comfortable for a single bed.

Very convenient comfortable hotel. Nice location on the river & the town is only a short walk away. Station 15 mins walk but lots of taxis. If you have a room facing the river, you have a great view of the castle. Breakfast costs extra. It was good but there are cheaper options.

The hotel is in a great spot along the river with a view of the vineyards and castles on the hill. The town itself is very charming and easy to walk through. My only dislike was the hotel entrance, it comes into a set of stairs and it's not clear where check-in is located and the entrance had a lingering smell of cigarettes.

There for a 2 night business trip, Been to Wurzburg many times, the first time at this hotel.
The people were very nice, breakfast was more basic German style, but tasty. The location is right on the river-walk, and 2 blocks from the bridge where everyone goes for a glass of wine or beer.

Week in Wurzburg

The hotel staff were great. They spoke both German and English which was good for me since I hadn't spoken German in over 25 years. The hotel is located right on the Main River and close to all that the old town has to over. The room was clean and the building well maintained. They have a parking garage which is a plus since parking in the old town can be a challenge. I ate at the restaurant twice for dinner and it was delicious both times.

I expected a lot better from this hotel. The hotel is situated right in the historic town center next to the river and has a magnificent view of the castle. Despite this great setting I was disappointed with the stay. The room was small and looked quite dated, had only basic furnishing and accessories (no safe), also my room had no view. Parking was simply awful - the underground garage had very few spaces and was horrifyingly tight and dark, while near-by streets were residential parking only with a high chance of a ticket. Wurzbrug is a very nice town, but if you are coming by car and want a pleasant stay - i would try other hotels.

Parking garage (tight fit) is available for 10 E/day, and is very helpful to have. Wurzberg is a one or two day spot unless one takes a lot of day trips.

Hotel location cannot be beat !! Everything is walkable and the views from river facing rooms and patio are of the Marienburg fortress which is spectacular. Drawback is room was extremely small - not unexpected but much smaller than the similar \" altstadt\" inn we stayed at in Heidelberg which is a very comparable town. Fair value and I would go back - but dont bring a lot of stuff with you lol!!!

Wij waren hier ook in 2014. Alles is een beetje sleets en ernstig aan een update toe, zoals de badkamers. Geen koffie op de kamer en koffie en drsnkenautomaat beneden beiden defect. Kamerschoonmaak 1x per 3 dagen is weinig.

Freundlicher Empfang. Gutes Frühstück, auf Extrawünsche wurde sofort eingegangen. Zum Abendessen sehr gute Küche. Das Hotel selbst liegt wunderschön am Main, abends kann man mit Blick auf den Main auf der Terrasse sitzen. Es ist zentral gelegen, es lässt sich alles zu Fuß erreichen. Nur die Garage ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, eng und schwierig zu parken.

Ich habe schon schlechter übernachtet- aber auch schon besser. Das \"Comfort Doppelzimmer\" war schlicht ein einfaches Zimmer, kein Schreibtisch, kein Komfort, einfach ein kleines Zimmer mit zwei Einzelbetten (wie es auch in der Beschreibung stand). Der Aufzug ist von 1968 und letztmalig erneuert in 1988, das ist schon etwas \"outdated\". Die Leute sind super freundlich, das Frühstück toll. Ist halt ein wenig in die Jahre gekommenn.

Habe Superior Zimmer mit Main Blick gebucht.
Toller Blick auf die Festung. Tolle Lage. Parkplatz für 12.€ gleich um die Ecke. Das Zimmer war gepflegt und mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet. Die Hauptstraße hört man, wenn die Fenster zu sind nicht. Das Doppelzimmer ist klein. Schöne rustikale Gaststube und Terrasse vor dem Haus. Frühstück gibt es leider nur bis 10.00Uhr. Aber man war sehr tolerant und bemühte sich mit allem zufrieden zustellen.
