I wasn't happy with this stay at all. We have stayed at other hotels in northern Italy at this price point and we had much better experiences elsewhere. The room was so small and the double bed was pushed up against one wall and we weren't given any coffee at all in the room nor any face cloths. The room faced the front entrance and street and it was incredibly noisy. The only redeeming factor was the pillows. They were comfortable but the blankets were not. I wasn't happy with this stay. The front end staff were kind, though.

The staff were nowhere to be seen at any point during my stay. There was no concierge service, no reception, no one to ask about anything or raise concerns with. If I’d known this I wouldn’t have booked this hotel!
The room was only cleaned once, not daily. The aircon was on full blast with no controls and no way to turn it off and the hair drier didn’t work.

Booked for six nights and only stayed for one. There was no Wi-Fi in the property or air conditioning. There was also a poor level of safety with the main doors being left unlocked all night as well as the safe not working. While in the room there was an overpowering smell of damp and after being moved rooms there was still damp. Both rooms contained damp growing on the interior walls. No staff were present for the majority of the time and when they were present there was nothing they could do. Keys were left in a basket at reception for anyone to be able to access. Paid for breakfast however, there was no facilities available. No refund was giving when requested and one of the other guests had to go purchase food for breakfast. The phone number that was left for emergencies would never get answered meaning if something had happened then no one would have been able to do anything. This hotel was an absolute joke.

Don't stsy there!!! This was a horrible stay. We had an international flight and found out that the air conditioner didn't work and we found out the next day from staff that they have not been working for a while. Our room wasn't the only one. I was eaten up by mosquitos becaise we jad to sleep with our windows open. We had no water pressure in the morning and staff helped me to wash out my hair in other areas of the building. Staff at tge front drsk front desk is non existing but there is a phone number in case of an emergency. I called that number during the night and the person told me he would come in 10 min to liik at the air conditioner. When I called back 30 minutes later he said that this is the hotel in Rome. I had to use my xell phone to call be because the phone in our room had no cord tp ne plugged in. Many people left early leaving notes at the front desk that they had no water and aircondirioner. One of the workers quit thay day...said it was a horrible place to work, wasn't getting paid at times. I'm not surprised.

This hotel is awful and not as advertised. It does not have:
- Air conditioning
- 24/7 reception
- Bar
- Room service

It also fails to meet the basic requirements of a hotel that shouldn’t need to even be advertised:
- there is no toilet seat on our toilet
- the room is dirty
- some lights don’t work
- power outlets are faulty and coming off the wall, which is not safe
- the safe is not attached to anything so if someone did break in they could just take the whole thing
- furniture is broken in the room
- there is no manager on sight and they don’t answer their phone

I had a very disappointing experience during my stay at this hotel. Their website clearly mentions that the rooms have air conditioning, but when I arrived, there was none. I called the main office to ask about it, and they told me the hotel does not have AC, even though it was 80 degrees outside. I was left miserably hot and uncomfortable the entire time.

On top of that, the room had no fridge, so I could not keep any drinks or food cold. The room itself was small, old, and worn down. It did not match what was advertised online, and I would not stay here again.

Working to obtain a refund. Our room felt wet and was attached to an outdoor space that was not usable as it was wet and the furniture was not clean. It was so humid we were concerned about mold. The room had wallpaper falling down. The heater was broken, there was barely any light and there was only one power receptacle within the room. The room pics didn’t match the booking and the Receptionist stated that was Hotels.com issue. Felt like a bait-and-switch situation. Opted to go to another hotel. Still trying to get a refund for the room booking and the city tax they collected at check in weeks later.

Disgusting Hotel! At this property, we were given a room WITHOUT windows! (Misleading advertising). The toilet was inside the shower. Please read that again, the toilet was inside the shower!!! The room didn't have air conditioning, only heater. The wallpaper was coming off and it had yellow stains. The buttons of the elevator didn't work. So, good luck trying to get in the elevator. The entrance doors from the hotel, had a sign in Italian that read: \"Authentic doors don't work, open with your hands.\" Just pathetic! It's illegal to rent a room without windows; so, I don't understand why this hotel it's here on Expedia. We refuse to spend any time in the room that they gave us. So, we spent about an hour searching for another accomodation in Florence in such a short notice. Hotel Panama refused to refund our money. So, we're now still fighting for it with our credit card company. Don't book in this hotel. It's dilapidated! Shame on Expedia for suggesting this hotel.

They canceled my hotel reservation when I was on a flight from America. They called me but did not leave a voice message after being awake 40 hours they did not even help me find another hotel. Staff was very rude and apologized, but gave me no reason for canceling my reservation after I booked a month ahead of time. I do not recommend this place for anybody they are not reliable avoid at all cost.

This hotel is situated walking distance to some of the best spots Florence has to offer. Restaurants are nearby so you don’t have to rely on transportation. The only complaint that I have is that the wi-fi did not work on the upper level. I spoke with front desk and the manager about it and nothing was done about it. I thought a complimentary breakfast would have sufficed to compensate for the inconvenience but there was no remedy or offer to help mediate the issue. Overall, it’s a beautiful room that’s equipped with a bathtub and patio to smoke or catch a tan. Hopefully the wi-fi is better in the coming weeks

The room only had one window on the ceiling and it was super small, no lighting and felt suffocating. The shower and the toilet occupied the same space. So water just fell everywhere. The woman who greeted us upon arrival on the 13th of August in the afternoon around 4pm, was incredibly rude. She was not helpful in the least and gave attitude.

The bedroom provided was not what I paid for or asked for. I had asked for 2 twin beds and we got 1 bed in the worst possible room.

The towels smelled like white vinegar, there was no shower curtain and water would splash everywhere, the room was very badly lit, and to top it all off, we got ants all over our bags because I guess there is an infestation of some sort.

We loved the staff, the morning breakfast and location was walkable to Florence. The few issues we would have appreciated a bit more: it was the hottest week on record and our room was not cool enough after being out all day. The bed was very hard, that made resting in a hotter room after a long day of walking through Italy a challenge too. The shower was tricky to learn because it didn’t have a curtain and we had to try hard not to splash water on the floor. Otherwise- we looked forward to the breakfast and the quaint look of the hotel.

This hotel is a fraud. No AC - claiming to fix AC but no one showed up - check all reviews running into this same problem. Lied to Expedia that they fixed AC after we left therefore declined to refund. Actually we went back later to drop the key and knew AC wasn’t fixed at all. The air in the room was extremely stuffy and the window opened to the street, thus unsafe to open at all. Expedia customer service is willing to help, but the situation just got too complicated as the hotel was intentionally exploiting the communication and procedural loopholes.

We booked 2 rooms and one of them had no air conditioning. Then they change our room and again air conditioning was not working. And there was only one person there and said he is not able to do anything. After so much arguments he said he will call electrician . When we asked for refund he said no . We spent whole night without AC . It was terrible.
Next day there was another person on reception and and he said he doesn’t know anything about issue.

I very rarely do this, but I would strongly Recommend not booking this hotel for your stay in Florence. We were told after check-in that the AC is off until June (Even though it was on hotels in Florence we stayed in) our room only had One small window in the ceiling And it was the top floor and unbearably stuffy and hot. In order to sleep We had to keep the hallway door open, so there was some form Of current. Since we had to leave the window open all night, it was very loud from the street and we also had a ton of mosquitoes as the hotel is against the river. The tv also didn’t work Neither did the hot water, Both of those Issues were nothing compared to the unbearable heat we endured all night. We Spent a great deal on this hotel Put a huge damper on our trip.

I stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Panama. It’s just out of the busy centre of Florence but far enough to be away from the noise and hustle and bustle of Florence. It’s a good 15-20min walk from the main train station. There are good bus links nearby but I walked everywhere so that I could see more of Florence. It’s not great for nearby restaurants so I suggest eat in town before heading back to the hotel for bed. Honestly though, if you’re like me and don’t mind a 20min walk to most places, then this hotel is in a good place.
The hotel and room was clean and basic, but honestly it was just a base for me to sleep. If you’re out and about most of the day then it’s perfectly fine. The breakfast was disappointing for selection and very few. And you could homely have 1 coffee. Other then that it was good.

Booked a non smoking room but room stank of smoke. Went to the front desk to complain they said about spraying and opening window, which we did. Even after leaving window open all afternoon and evening until we got back did not help the smell. Could not change room, so had to stay in room was given. Would not recommend rooms for staying presentation in reception clean and tidy just did not get what paid for. Very disappointed with service and accommodation will not waste money and stay here again. I am even putting a complaint in with Expedia to get this resolved due to miss selling of room type/condition.

A little gem

The location and service was absolutely wonderful. The only comment about our room was that the air system was a bit noisy so I turned it off and that left the room on the cool side. Breakfast was good and offered alot of choices. Be aware that the adaptor you bring needs to fit 2 or 3 narrow holes, not like Rome which fits the standard 2 hole adaptor.

Good location, booking in easy and pleasant, we were party of three couples and two of the rooms needed some T L C, paper on wall ripped and makeshift repair done to it, small toilets. thinnest towels I have ever come across hand towels were like pillowcases perhaps Italian way.
Breakfast, myself and my partner went down to breakfast there was only one boiled egg left, when asked could we please have another told all finished assume one egg per guest so someone must have taken two.
On going up for another cup of tea lady pointed to sign saying all second cups of hot drinks must be paid for, ridiculous

Beds are a little hard. Staff is friendly and helpful. Clean place. Only complaint is the air conditioning. You can’t turn it colder. It’s set at 26 degrees Celsius or so. That’s not cold when it’s hot outside. Felt muggy and humid inside the room. Oh I forgot. Our room had a tub/jacuzzi. The shower head was at waist level. No curtain to keep water from going all over the place. My girlfriend tried to fill tub but brown water came out. So had to take a shower with the flexible house shower that was at wasñist level.

Lovely hotel a short distance from city centre

This hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the Duomo. 20 minutes from the airport by taxi or 30 minutes by shuttle, including a short walk. Taxi, better if you have luggage.

All the staff were polite, helpful and friendly I had a room in the house behind the main hotel which was very peaceful and quiet.

The local area is friendly and there is a fair diversity of drinking and eating options.

The cultural options are astounding within 5 minutes walk.

Room spotless and cleaned daily and looked recently decorated.

A really good location and excellent service but check the hotel provided map first 😀

Room is so clean and staff are very helpful. Every day room service makes perfect clean. I am really happy staying in this hotel. Room is rather small but really value for money. Breakfast is also nice. Hotel is located in very good location so easy access to all public transports. Even if you take taxi it is really easy to direct taxi drive as this hotel is well recognized by local people.

But rooms are not sound proof so if you have noisy neighbors you will be suffering so apart from that everything is nice and cool.

I really recommend value for money hotel Panama.

1. There is no AC, its only a cooler. I think that was cheating.
2. The shower was a joke. I have attached a picture. I could not move without hitting my leg on the toilet or spread even my elbows without hitting the walls. It was so congested, I could not even take a proper picture for this review. Hope the picture helps other travelers.
3. Breakfast was only continental. No eggs or anything hot. Only one cup of hot beverage is included. If you want another one, you have to pay 1.20 euro per cup.
I go to Italy often and I would not stay at this place again.

Stayed for 5 nights in a single room. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Stayed in a single room, but the bed was on the small side - probably wouldn't recommend it for anyone taller than around 5\"5\". The room was spacious with a decent sized bathroom. The shower cubicle was smaller than I was used to but I personally didn't find this a problem. The location was handy and a nice respite from the crowds. A bus stop 2mins walk away takes you to the top of Piazzale Michelangelo, if you're short on time.

Hotel Panama - a great budget option

Hotel Panama offers basic amenities but I have rated as good because for the price, it was great value. It was very clean and the staff were great. Location was also pretty good - a straight road down to the centre took 15 minutes with a bus stop close by if needed. I had a single room, which was very small but it had everything I needed (including free WiFi, safe, minibar and hairdryer). The bathroom was also very small - essentially a wet room. The shower had no curtain and was next to your toilet so everything got wet when showering but dried off easily enough. If you are planning to be out all day and literally want to come back to the room to sleep, then it is a great option. If you want creature comforts and a room to relax in, then it probably isn't the hotel for you. I went in March, paid a great price for the room (cheaper than B&Bs in Britain) and was close to the city centre. It worked for me but I was realistic about what I would be getting. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, which makes such a difference. All in all, a great option and I would consider staying there again.

Negatives include: a nasty sewage smell coming from the terrance outside of our room; ants found near our bathtub (but taken care of right away); minimal options for breakfast and you are charged for your coffee at breakfast which was not mentioned until check out. Wouldn't recommend a stay at Panama

Although the hotel is only a 20-30 minute walk to the main city center I would not recommend a stay here. The bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on in my life. It was so bad, I contemplated sleeping on the floor. The rest of the hotel room was fine, relatively clean and with outdated decorating and fixtures you can expect from a 3 star hotel.

One night in Florence

One night at the end of a business trip. The room bedspreads were old and musty smelling of mildew. The furniture was quite old. The shower was makeshift. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room opened onto a courtyard which was nice. The drapes barely covered the window. The room was large enough was handicap accessible. Overall met the needs within walking distance of many of the city center attractions but not a great value for the price.

Great location, close to Santa Maria Novella Station and all cultural and ecclesiastical attractions. Had a major problem with our car and staff were extremely helpful with sorting out transport to Renault garage, additional accommodation and storage of our luggage whilst repairs were carried out and we continued our trip by train.

Breakfast usual continental, lovely coffee and everything fresh, pleasant service.
Easy walk to the Bus and Train Station, but a taxi only cost Euros 7.
Would go again Ideal for single travellers.

Not worth the price

The description was nothing like the actual room. We were made to believe that there would be a lot more room and more amenities, however it was extremely small and located on the street with no crosswalks. It wasn't the worst hotel we ever stayed in, but it was no worth what we paid for it.

Hotel Patavium is about a 12 minute walk from the centrale stazione, and also about 15 minutes to the city centre. we found the facilities to be clean, modern, and very comfortable. We enjoyed the varied breakfasts, and the overall quality of the hotel. It is just off the main path, but very easy to get around on foot. Although in a residential area, the hotel is adjacent to a deli/salumeri, pizzerias, and small restaurants. we highly recommend 'A Banda del Buso' on Via B. Cristofori for fantastic pasta and atmosphere.

Expecting more

Based on the reviews, I was expecting this hotel to be great. However, I found it to be a disappointment. Construction made the hotel less accessible, as we booked the hotel to be close to the train station but was difficult to cart our luggage to their location. Wifi was horrible, it hardly worked. Mosquitos infested the room which left us with many bites and bumps. The upside was breakfast.

This hotel was a convenient place to stay.

The hotel was easy to find, the staff was very helpful, and the continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise! Our room could use fresh wallpaper, and the bathroom and shower was a very tight squeeze, but the location was great.

Ok, for the rate they charge

Room was right at reception...suppose not all that bad.
But there was a smell in the room which really was not pleasant, I suspect this was from the plumbing pipes as you could hear the other rooms flashing toilets and taking a shower. Breakfast should really be included for the price you pay!

Nice Hotel

Nice hotel, room was clean & comfy. Room included air conditioning, mini-bar fridge & ours had its own balcony that faced a courtyard at the rear of the property. Staff seemed very polite & helpful. Breakfast was good & worth the price we paid for it (6 euros per person per day). Location is on a quiet street outside the main centre of town, perhaps a 10-15min walk, but this meant there was less noise from traffic tourists nearby.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Panama. Room was clean and spacious. Every member of staff encountered was helpful and courteous. The location is 15 minute walk from Central Market. I would definitely go back again and recommend to friends.

Very comfortable hotel.

Pleasing hotel where I was very comfortable. As soon as I arrived I was upgraded to a double room which was very nice inspire of the peeling wall paper. The breakfasts were wonderful for the price and all staff were very congenial and helpful.

Florence - Hotel review

The hotel was further from the centre of Florence than I expected - easily walkable but I would not recommend it to those who have any mobility difficulties. Unfortunately our room was at the front of the hotel and there was a lot of early morning traffic noise. The room was shabby however it was kept splotlessly clean by the chamber maid and bed linen was clean and fresh. Choice at breakfast was somewhat limited compared to other hotels I have stayed in of a similar rating. Whilst the hotel was perfectly acceptable I would not chose it again on a future trip to Florence.

Excellent place 15min from Florence SMN station!

Excellent staff, who all know english. They speak english and guide you well.
Michaella, Carlos at the front office and Leida at the Breakfast area. Leida in particular a very very hard working lady, single handedly serving everyone at the breakfast area with a smile always.
Breakfast was ok. Missed Egg Omelette in the whole of Italy for breakfast, similar case here.
This hotel is clean, Excellent housekeeping, impeccable bathrooms..
Our room was 100, at the basement, so had network issue and we could hear the sound of the flush from the toilets in the rooms above us. See if this can be sound proofed, but not too much of a bother..

Excellent value

I booked my trip at the last minute so I was travelling on a budget; however, I still wanted somewhere clean, comfortable and close to the sights and this hotel was perfect. If I had to pick a fault it would be that the air conditioning wasn't powerful enough, but my room was not uncomfortably warm so it was fine.

Great place.

This place is great. Staff is very helpful and rooms are pretty big and very clean. The only negative is it is a 15-20 minute walk from the city center. May have to take a cab if you don't want to walk a lot.
