The staff were really really kind and helpful! They really took care of us and made us feel welcome, the location was very convenient and located near a delicious bakery and convenient store.
The cleaners were always very on time, and as soon as we left (even for a short time) they managed to come in super quick to make our room as much as they could with clean towels and folded our bed even though our room was always messy with all of our things.
the only thing i didn't like was the elevator always made a ding everytime it came to our floor - im more sensitive to sound so if someone else's door closed, it would be loud for me.

I love this hotel! The people are very hospitable and I even received 2 heat packs from them because they saw I was freezing just as I arrived :)) There was also coffee beans freshly ground by machine and variety of breads provided at cafe in the morning. I was so grateful I left a tip! Thank you so much! The coffee is also delicious

Excellently located - very close to subway, making for very easy travel. Very walkable (under 15 minutes) to Namdaemun market, Myeondong, Shinsaegae Duty Free, Seoul Station, Lotte Young Plaza; as well as other less-thought of places like a 24-hour self-coin laundry, lots of coffee shops barely 5 minute walk away, and the TMoney HQ building.

Hotel itself was clean and had all necessary amenities to make the stay comfortable. Also a 24-hour sit-in dining area where you could go to relax a bit. Would book again!

Bigger than I anticipated so a plus there. There is an uphill getting there so it was a struggle with our luggage but without the luggage, it was fine.

The hotel was great! My only complaint was the beds were to firm for me comfort wise. Otherwise the shower was good-great water pressure. The complentary breakfast was fine. Rooms were clean, hallways clean and quiet. Hotel wifi could have been a bit better but I got service either by the concierge desk or their cafetera. Everyone was great, cheerful and helpful!

1.We have two rooms, both bathrooms have the same type of sliding bathroom door that kept slides open by itself. Staff said just stuck a towel to prevent it from opening. Bathroom door is not lockable.

2. Light in the bathroom is on timer. It auto shut off the lights and ventilation after like 30mins. It was a rude shock to get a blackout bathroom halfway through your bath.

3. Room door is open outwards type and cannot be secure from inside. (No additional latch). On the first day morning housekeeping staff just opened my door while I am still in the bathroom. And again someone tapped their key trying to open my room the next early morning. Felt so insecure as you can’t secure your room door properly when you’re in the room.

4. No staff around in the hotel. Everything is through machine for check in and check out. (Although you only see one of the staff once during check in). Calls went unanswered. We have to go to the reception area to get help for a clog toilet bowl.

5. About 30mins before check out time, got a reminder call to check out, followed by a staff/bouncer standing outside your room door to escort and made sure you leave the premises in time and hand over your rooms in time!

Was a little worried about the slope situation many have mentioned in their reviews when I was considering this hotel, but in reality, it is really not that bad (may still be a challenge for elderly and someone with mobility issues).
Great location. Easy walk to Namdaemun Market and lots of eateries. Close to Namsan Park/Tower (we didn't have time to visit ourselves). Close to buses and subways.
Room could have used a little more dusting. Overall room was sufficient. It seems pretty common among the bathrooms in accommodations to not have curtain/door to separate shower area, this the whole bathroom would get wet. This is not an issue at Lumia as the shower has a door and is decent size, one of the reasons we have picked Lumia over a few other options we had in mind.
Would have been nice that instructions for the washer/dryer are posted by the machines as we had a hard time figuring out the buttons and dials, all labelled in Korean. But, staff was helpful when we asked for assistance.

Got there hours before check-in and luggage was able to be stored and they have a bathroom in the lobby. Hotel owner was very sweet and helped us make our late night ramen and gave us some tips to cut our Dalgona cookies (really kind!). The space was everything we needed and we had a view of N tower from our room. Power and A/C are operated by room key so dont operate when you’ve left for the day. Overall, we would stay again and were sad to leave.

Amazing hotel, close to hoehyeon station exit 1, have to walk a bit uphill but its fine, near to a halal kebab stall near nandaemun market, allowed us to keep our bags till evening, fast check in and check out, great staffs, good choices of bfast, can see seoul tower from our rm, strong wifi, staff can speak fluent english, will be good if there was a bidet in the room. But all in all we enjoyed our stay. Thank u!!:)

I absolutely love this hotel and it was the right place to stay over. They have workers that can speak English and very helpful on the information you need to know. The room was in great condition and was surprised to see the floor was warm. I thought the bed comfort was ok but I like the big tv.

Their breakfast was so delicious! I’m so glad to have kimchi everyday and soft scrambled egg. Yes I see some other variety of food everyday for 5 nights. The juice was so fresh.

I like all the safety they offer in the room. Example fire extinguisher and strap to jump out for emergency. I do appreciate they offer free new water bottle everyday but only you take some.

This is the MUST place to stay for foreign tourist to come. Thanks you for everything Lumia Hotel!

Did not feel like a \"budget\" hotel at all! While it IS up on a hill so the walk up to the hotel with heavy luggage or after a long day of walking is tiresome, but it's a small price to pay to the excellent location, affordable price and hotel condition. It's 5 minutes from the nearest train station and 10-15 minute walk from 2 shopping markets. It was easy to go back for an hour to rest before going off to the next destination. Bathroom comes equipped with body wash, shampoo and condition (just bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste) with the shower area separated by a wall unlike many other budget hotels we saw with the showerhead right above the sink.
They do have a taxi ride you can reserve from the hotel straight to the airport for about 70USD. a bit pricey but you are paying for the convenience and comfort of not having to lug your heavy bags around the trains or having to stay awake on a bus to make sure you don't miss your stop. The free breakfast is a great plus as well. Would recommend to anyone traveling on budget but would still like the privacy of their own room.

Location of this hotel is perfect. It is near subway station and restaurants. Quiet neighbourhood.
Hotel service is just okay because toiletries were not complete. they just provided the basics - towels, shampoos, conditioners, soaps. No lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush, shower caps, shavers, etc
I will give their roof deck a thumbs up. Great view of the Namsan tower even from our rooms.

Cheap hotel but you pay for what you get.

The bed was comfortable and the hotel is in a good location. However, our room was too hot and we could not change the room temperature as there was no controller. The receptionist told us we can not change room heating and our friends in another room told us the same thing that their room was very hot from over heating temperature. We had to open the window to let in some cold air in December cold weather to cool down the room. Bathroom was all wet after you shower as the water would be running outside all over the bathroom floor. One of the receptionist was not very helpful. We had good help from another receptionist but she didn’t speak much English either, lucky we could speak a bit of Chinese to communicate with her. Our toilet was blocked and we had been advised not to put toilet paper in the toilet.

Lumia Hotel Myeongdong is a great place to stay. From Incheon International Airport to this hotel only takes 1 1/2 hours by bus or metro. Just 2 mins walk to Hoehyeon Station. The location near to Namdaemun Tradional Market, 7-Eleven store. Abourt 15- 20 minutes walk to Myeong-dong. This hotel offers Free WiFii and Breakfast Buffet. The front desk are very polite. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Very convenient for tourist especially for transit passengers. My suggestion please leave your check in luggage at the airport for free, as long your transit is less than 24 hours it is allowed. Seoul, South Korea is a safe place. We stayed here Aug 14-15, 2018.

This wasn't the hotel we initially booked, but was given to us as a substitute as our other hotel was no longer available. It seemed to be okay from the website. Once we got there, the staff were pleasant but seemed to be more concerned with the newly refurbished lift/ elevator than with us. The room was smaller than what we expected and the bed was hard. We had hoped to have a cup of tea in the room, however, the only cups provided were made of paper and so tiny they weren't worth the effort. This was a real shame as the hotel has potential, but seemed to focus on the wrong things (i.e., not what makes customers happy).

Stayed for 4 nights in a family room with 1 queen and 2 single beds. Not much space for walking about and luggages. Beds and pillows were comfortable and clean. Provided 4 sets of towels and toiletries except toothbrush and tooth paste. The walk up the slope from the subway station exit 1 was tiring for me and my elderly mother but not my teen girls. Exit 1 has to take a flight of stairs to street level. Myeong Dong is 1 station away but also possible to go on foot. Around the hotel there are food outlet that open till 2am and even 24 hours. Hotel staff speak fluent Mandarin and are very willing to assist, even print street maps and advise us on the places we want to go.

In a great location

The hotel is on a slight hill and was smaller than I expected but the staff at the reception were all very friendly and helpful.

Our room was small with the two beds pretty much taking all the space, but perhaps this is the norm in korean hotels? Our room did have ample wardrobe space, which made room for one of our big luggage and clothes, giving us some space to walk in and around the room.

What we loved about the hotel is its location. It's right next to a train station and a main street where you can easily catch a bus from, and it's only a 5 minute walk to Shensigae (a mall which has duty free) and about 10 minutes walk to Myeongdong shopping street and undreground shopping centre. It is only one to two bus stops to Lotte department store as well.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel, as we mostly just stayed in it to sleep and were mostly out and about shopping and exploring.

Possibly The Best Hotel In Seoul

Four day trip to Seoul. Exceptionally happy with all aspects of the Lumia Hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful (but don't speak much English). They did provide directions with the help of Google maps and hand signals. Always had a smile and were glad to try to converse.
Room was of adequate size, clean and had a closet, shelf space and mini-fridge. Hard bed as expected. Two bottles of water daily. as well as normal bathroom amenities. View out window was of Namsan cable car and tower. Daily cleaning service.
Fantastic location 2 blocks (up hill) from Hoehyeon station (take IMMEDIATE right turn on street upon leaving station exit 1). Walking distance to Seoul station and City Hall station. Lots of food in immediate area. 10 minute walk to Myeongdong market. Convenience store on corner (where you turn right) at Hoehyeon station.
Elevator was quick but small. Rooftop garden roomy with nice views and tranquil setting.
Five star rating for this 2 star hotel. Great price only makes it better

Looks like that it a newly renovated hotel, very cleanly kept hotel. The beds are a bit on the hard side but this is personal preference. Service is good. One or two staff speak a little English, they mostly speak Mandarin and Korean. Check in and out are quick. Breakfast buffet is very good for the price. There is a convenient store right at the end of street. Currency exchanges are either in same street or the next. You can buy fresh fruits from another store in same street or Namdaemun Market.A lot of local restaurants on main road when you turn left towards market, very good price.

This hotel has a very good location and is very near of almost everything! Easy to find, easy to transport going to a place from another, near a market. I'd recommend this hotel and I'm sure that we will book this hotel when we get back to Seoul.

The hotel was very new and clean. It is less than a 10-minute walk away from Myeongdong, so the location is very good. The only problem is that it is located at the top of a hill on a small side road, so getting to the hotel when you have luggage can be a bit of a struggle.

Nice little hotel

It is a nice and quiet little hotel and yet very conveniently located. The room looked like newly renovated and was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was trying to get a taxi from the Seoul train station to the hotel as the hotel was too close!

The hotel did the job although the taxi driver has trouble finding it. The receptionist wasn't there when I arrived so I had to wait 5 mins before she arrived at the desk. Breakfast was not too bad and the cafeteria was nice enough. THe rooms were clean and the room did the job. Its somewhere you can sleep but you wouldn't want to relax in. These type of hotels always have those high windows which give it quite a claustrophobic feel.

The room was not cleaned properly when we got the key card but it was fine for the next few days. The instruction guide showed the remote control (which controlled all devices in the room) was totally different than the remote control we used in the room. We figured out ourselves by trying. No AC available in March when we were sweating in the room. Breakfast was cold and not many options. However, good location that is the most important for tourist.

no maintenance

The switch for the lighting control broke down on the second last day of my stay. The staff was informed but they did not inform us there was no maintenance staff. So we had to sleep in complete darkness with the main power all switched off. We actually had to call the staff to know that there was no maintenance team. Waited for nothing. They only have heater during winter and is main control. We cannot adjust the temperature so we have to keep the windows open if we want balance the temperature.

This hotel pays attention to the small details.

I was a little skeptical of the first impression of the building. For the value, location, and amenities, this place was a great find. The hotel staff made sure the room was fully equipped for the three guests in the room. Complementary breakfast was a great option to help remove the stress of finding a meal early in the morning.

Place was nice, rooms small, A.C. great. We liked the breakfast and location was the best. Close to everything just a short walk up the hill from the metro. Nothing fancy but for the price I would stay here again.
