There are a number of 5 star hotels in San Miguel, but there are none better than Casa Sierra Nevada; this is a world class boutique property that feels as though you’re living in quiet authentic old-world Mexican luxury. The staff is without equal: friendly and personable, they seamlessly anticipate any needs or wants you may have. The amenities and concierge services are top-tier. You will not do better in San Miguel. Worth every penny.

A truly exceptional hotel in San Miguel Mexico
Our stay in the Casa de Sierra Nevada Hotel in San Miguel Mexico was one of the best hotel stays in our travel experiences. The hotel is conveniently located within two short blocks of the town's central square. The conversion of this18th century building into a gracious hotel was achieved by retaining its historic charm while providing all amenities, including a pool and spa, that travelers desire. The food in the restaurant within the premises is exceptional; the staff is warm, knowledgeable and responsive to guests' needs. The common areas of the hotel are kept very clean as are the individual guest rooms that are well-supplied. My wife and I truly had a wonderful stay.

there are so many beautiful boutique hotels in San Miguel that I am not sure why people choose to stay here. The superior rooms through expedia are no better than staying at a best western, actually worse- just a bed, small bathroom and no chairs to sit in in the room. The upgraded rooms can be very nice but I would say this is a poor value if you are booking a \"superior\" which is really a standard room- there are much better choices in SMA

Nice hotel but not a 5 star experience
Overall we had a nice stay at the hotel, but it was not a 5 star experience. Here’s why:
- On the first day at check-in we were asked if we would like to participate in any of the special activities and we expressed an interest in the cooking class. The check-in staff promised us to check availability for us, however we never heard back from him and next morning at breakfast when we asked again about the cooking class, we were told it was booked out. It would have been nice to hear this earlier, especially as he promised us to get back to us.
- The hotel offers a couple of complementary activities, such as a champagne reception every Thursday night. We decided to attend the champagne event and when we showed up at the hotel, we were told that the event is not taking place as no one had registered for it. Again, the staff did not tell us at check-in that one has to register for this and even if this is the case, they could have invited us for a Champagne tasting the day off when we showed up, as the Champagne card was already prepared in the corner. That was pretty disappointing.
- On our last day, we paid for the room and all additional charges, as we had to leave at 6 am next morning. We were asked if we'd like to schedule help for our luggage and a morning coffee, which we gladly accepted. Next morning, neither the luggage assistance, nor the morning coffee were there. And as we sat down in the cab, a staff member rushed to us asking if we had already checked out.

The view from our suite was gorgeous. we had a view of the distant mountains and the very well kept greens. The food at the restaurant in both locations was beyond delicious. Isaac, one of the office staff, was incredibly helpful and recommended several good places to eat while we were there. We would not have found out about La Unica if not for Isaac.

Casa De Sierra in San Miguel de Allende has been by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. All staff members held the upmost professionalism, truly cared about our stay, and made us feel right at home. Staff from the hotel made our honeymoon experience better than I imagined. Our rooms were spotless and flawless. Staff never hesitated to approach us and ask if we needed anything. I don't think I ever opened a hotel door because a staff member was always there to greet us. The hotel restaurant's menu is a must try. Wow.

The location , interior design were wonderful, but the staff service was some of the best if not the best I have experienced ( and I’ve been traveling since the 1960’s). The staff was always available without being intrusive , which is a difficult line to walk, they were cheerful and extremely accommodating! I would highly recommend and intend to revisit!!!

Overall stay was nice and enjoyable. Service was excellent with most of the staff, but at times some staff members were not attentive. On a couple of occasions, I had to complain just to get waited on in the restaurant. My largest complaints were that the parking was extremely far away from hotel and we typically had to wait more than 20 min for our car; there was extremely low pressure in shower and it barely dripped out; and the mattress on our bed was extremely worn out, lumpy, and uncomfortable. Other than that, facilities were very nice and beautiful and most of staff was very attentive and pleasant. Rooms were very clean and location was perfect. Walking distance to everything. Spa was incredible. One of the best massages I've ever gotten. With the exception of the steak we had the first night, food at the hotel was very good. Again, Overall it was a nice hotel but I've stayed at much better places in San Miguel.

The room that we were upgraded to was larger but more noisy due to its location in the main building, though convenient to the gym, spa, and dining. The treadmill in the gym also wasn’t working consistently. If you can look past these things, then you’ll have a great time. I sure did.

Our only complaint was that they played American music (We're American by the way) at their off property restaurant. This is a beautiful and unique property with the friendliest, warmest staff you can imagine. Everyone went out of their way to go above and beyond great service expectations. I did not have hairspray, and the manager offered to send someone to buy some. My boyfriend left his sunscreen under a chair by the pool, and a staff member found it and brought it to our room. The rooms are authentic, clean, and spacious. The food is magnificent. We will definitely be back!
