My wife and I are world travelers and The Reverie Saigon Hotel is one of the best 5-star hotels that we’ve stayed in. Everything at the Reverie Saigon Hotel was outstanding and exceeded expectations. Our room had a perfect view of the river below, which immensely enhanced our experience: This was our first trip to Vietnam and the hotel was a very welcoming facility which gave us an outstanding impression and a lot of goodwill towards Vietnam. What a great representation for the great city of Ho Chi Minh.

You know you read reviews and look at pictures before making a decision. I was going back and forth between the Reverie and Park Hyatt. Finally decided on the Reverie as it seemed a little unique and thought it would be a more interesting stay.
Everything was fantastic. For us the hotel did not seem to over the top with its design, felt luxurious although I can see in a number of years certain aspects will have to be redesigned.
As for any criticism it would be nice if the piano player near the bar played beyond 6:30pm. Would have been nice to have some quiet live music later into the evening.

The hotel itself was excellent, but unfortunately the welcome did not match the standard I would expect from a 5-star property.

On arrival, I was asked to confirm my reservation before even reaching reception, and then asked again at the desk. While I understand the need for procedures, the manner in which this was handled felt unnecessary and slightly uncomfortable.

Having stayed in a number of comparable hotels across Southeast Asia and China on the same trip, this was the only place where I experienced this kind of reception. I had been travelling and was dressed casually, but I would expect the same level of courtesy regardless.

It’s a small point, but first impressions matter, and this left a slightly negative one.

Initially, our room smelled and the AC did not work properly. This was unacceptable and we requested another room. My girlfriend and I expected a 5 star hotel to be inspected prior to guest's arrival. This should be standard procedure especially at a 5 star hotel.

Maid service for the room was the best part of our stay. Breakfast was nicely prepared and the quality of the food was above average. Some notable and concerning issues were as follows.:
1) One night after dinner outside of the hotel, we were stopped by security when trying to return to our room. My girlfriend was a registered guest under my reservation. However, security wanted my girlfriend to registered at the lobby implying that she was a prostitute. We were both shocked and extremely offended. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!

2) We requested a bucket of ice and two wine glasses. This should be standard and should be included in the room rate as part of staying at this hotel. The staff charged us 1 million VND for ice and two wine glasses. This is egregious in so many ways.

My overall recommendation is that there many other hotels in Saigon that are better suited for guests wanting a peaceful, respectful and relaxing experience without feeling the way we felt.

Hotel management should review their standard operating procedures and re-train their staff to show respect to all guests and provide clear guidelines on what services are included in the overall cost.

I do not recommend the Reverie hotel in Saigon.

We experienced a serious safety issue during our stay. The shower head was not securely fastened and fell off without me even touching it. When it detached, it broke part of the ceramic fixture, which then fell onto my foot and caused a bleeding injury. I am currently pregnant, which made the situation especially concerning.

This appears to be a maintenance oversight that should have been identified and addressed prior to guest arrival, particularly at a five-star property. Additionally, a staff member indicated that this type of issue “happens all the time,” which raises further concerns about ongoing safety standards.

I will not be returning to this hotel.

This is a very shiny hotel. Claims 5 star but misses level of service we found at other 5 star hotels in Vietnam. Below the surface marble everywhere the rooms smell very musty the pool is falling apart in places. It is not worth the money they charge and definitely not a leading hotel as they claim.

There is no lounge if you have a later flight and despite being very empty they would not give extended check out.

One save is that Breakfast is almost perfect minus the lack of Vietnamese coffee options and the layout of the room. Tables are like a school cafeteria tightly stacked together. Otherwise great options and fresh food.

My guest leaves early by one day and they informed the staff more than a day before departure but the staff said they cannot handle it because their manager is not there. I called Expedia to handle it and Expedia got to the same situation like me. The next day their manager said it is over cancellation time and they will not give any refund. I actually did not ask for a refund but for a credit for the next stay, which was also rejected by their manager. NO HOSPITALITY and a ATTITUDE PROBLEM when they reply my message by a pdf email.

This hotel was beautiful, the decor is very grand but it was a fun environment to stay in. From my late arrival to my regular early afternoon departure, the staff were fantastic. The pool is a good size, with the sun there all morning, until mid-late afternoon. I only ate lunch there, and the menu offered by the pool had a great selection of Western and local offerings. I only wish I was staying for a few more days, but will definitely return!

The Reverie looks great initially but on closer inspection is a bit tired. The pool area is showing signs of wear and tear and should really be refurbished. The hotel policy on room access is an excellent example of how to alienate your guests. We arrived on a flight from London and had booked one of the hotel cars to meet us. This got us to the hotel at 7.15am. We were told that check-in was at 2pm but that our room was available if we wanted to pay. The cost was half the nightly rate, and we could access the room from 9am or a full night’s rate if we wanted immediate access. Or we would have access to the room from 12.30 for free. I offered to pay the half nightly rate with immediate access but was told that was not possible and it was hotel policy.
I totally appreciate that if you want to guarantee access to your room for an early arrival you need to book and pay for the preceding night. However, being told at check-in that the room is empty and therefore available but only for a significant fee is a poor business policy and suggests a money grabbing approach. I have never experienced this kind of policy before at other hotels in similar circumstances. If the room is available access has been granted. If it is occupied, no problem.

A true highlight of our stay was the Junior Suite. The fusion of fine Italian craftsmanship and expansive floor-to-ceiling views of the Saigon left us speechless. Every corner—from the plush furnishings to the silk-lined walls—exuded an air of regal sophistication that made it difficult to ever want to leave the room.

A special mention must go to the Reverie Lounge staff, who elevate the stay from excellent to extraordinary. Whether they are assisting with a request or simply offering a kind greeting, their dedication to service is impeccable. The Reverie blew all my expectations. The hotel is the epitome of luxury. We had booked a junior suite and were upgraded to a river view king suite. The staff were superb, the service was impeccable, the room was spotless and spacious. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Ho Chi Minh, close to all the major attractions. I would not stay anywhere else when I return.

I stayed at this hotel for six days. The room I entered on the first day had a strong musty smell, so I changed rooms, but the room I changed to still smelled bad. The fabric at the head of the bed smelled of sweat, and the bedding felt damp. The bed wasn't as comfortable as other five-star hotels. The area around the hotel was noisy, with performances going on day and night. The breakfast was tasteless, and the omelet was particularly bad. This hotel, given its price, needs to improve the quality of its food, bedding, towels, and other basic amenities.

The main issue I would like to see improved is that the bathroom sink tends to clog easily.
If this issue were resolved, I would definitely stay again and would be able to recommend the hotel without hesitation.
