Easy street parking especially during the day. Excellent room, spacious, little fridge, coffee and tea. Nice view. Very friendly staff and also other travelers were kind. For some reason our door did not close (possibly my error because it is a soliddoor and lock) and it was open from 3-8pm. Other guests let the receptionist know who came up to close it. Nothing was stolen.
Public transportation is excellent and Downtown is in walking distance (20 minutes).

I booked a stay from hotels.com -- it was my second time at the location. I reserved a room at 6pm -- I arrived at about 1am to check it. Nobody was there. Outside, there was a self check-in box -- my name could not be found. I called an emergency number on the window -- an upset man answered, unwilling to speak English. He repeatedly asked for my room number -- obviously I wasn't given one yet. I was told to wait outside for 30 minutes for someone to arrive. A friendly, chatty security guard arrived exactly 30 minutes later, and it took another 30+ minutes to get into our room. Basically -- he demanded that I visit the front desk at 7am to pay -- despite my previous reservation, and it being already 2:30am. The security guard awkwardly took photos of all of my personal info, then he sat outside watching my window for at least 30 more minutes.

The room was facing the front of the building- bright lights blasting through the windows all night, heavy street construction starting at 7am, an empty mini bar, and a large beetle immediately found crawling over the bed.

The next morning, the staff still seemed completely clueless about who I was, my situation, and that I was commanded to visit the front desk, less then 5 hours after my arrival.

Finally, the neighborhood in general is not welcoming. When Parking my car, I found a large swastika spray painted on the building next door. It is a very ugly reminder of the current climate in all of Saxony.

A nice hotel very close (2 minute walk) to Karl-Liebknecht St. which has a great selection of restaurants and pubs. It’s also convenient to walking into old town Leipzig or catching a tram to get there. The hotel room was a very spacious double with a good condition, large and clean bathroom. The front desk help was friendly and spoke good English. The street is currently under repair (June 2019) so that made things look a little shabby outside but upon completion will probably improve the look. We had a car and were able to find free parking nearby.

good hotel, in a nice neighborhood

We had a pleasant stay in the hotel. We stayed in one of the rooms in the back of the building, because from the front there is a large building site. It was very silent in the night. In the evening we were a bit bothered by the cigarette smoke, from downstairs and surrounding buildings. The staff was very kind and helpful, we were provided with additional towels (hand towels are not provided) and a water kettle.

The room was small (the cheapest option), but clean, with comfortable, although rather small for a couple, bed. Judging from the lights/lamp set up and traces on the wall, it used to be a single room. It was enough for us to stay for 3 nights, although I must say that gradually we got tired of a small bed and little space. The windows are big and we kept them open for most of the time.

Wi-Fi was not that good but it didn't bother us much, since we spent most of the day outside of the hotel. The area is good for outing, with plenty of restaurants and shops walking distance. The tram is few steps from the hotel. We didn't really try the breakfast.

appreciated the bottle of water in the room. was not impossible to find a parking lot in the nearby streets (in february), but i guess during high season it could be tough. the breakfast was quite ok, one could even make an own waffle.

This hotel is not as bright and cheerful as the pictures. For the price, it should be half the amount. there is a kitchenette with basic amenities and the heater works, but compared to other hotels, this was not worth the price. Parking is challenging, although the neighborhood is near plenty of restaurants and the center of town. The wi-fi is slow, and the light is a bit dark. There is no sauna despite it being advertised as such.

Good Location

This hotel is in a great location. It's convenient to a tram line and there are many eateries in the neighborhood. I chose this hotel because it was near an apartment where friends were staying. It was well situated for WGT-goers. The only bummer was the lack of AC, but it never got hot enough that I was truly uncomfortable, and I was only in the hotel to sleep for a few hours each day, anyway. I would stay here again in the future.

Wonderful small hotel. Arrived early evening in a strange city and reception staff friendly and helpful with immediate local information. The room was large and modern with windows that opened for fresh air. Buffet breakfast was basic but had everything one needed. Again staff friendly and attentive.
Excellent value and can highly recommend.

A quiet location with good transport.

This hotel is in a very quiet street between two roads with regular tram service. The room was immaculate. Clean, quiet and with superb central heating, but which you have to turn on! The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on and I would have liked to take the mattress home with me! Trams 10/11 to city centre are two minute walk. I highly recommend \"Lulu Lottenstein\" restaurant close by as suggested in hotel brochure. Potato soup with truffles (4.90!!) and a goulash of venison with tiny dumplings and a glass of excellent local RED wine. Total 24 Euros. Went back next night and had the soup again but with Wiener Schnitzel as big as your shoe...and two glasses of wine. 24 Euros again! Worth visiting via Tram 9 just one stop( go right out of hotel to main road) is Bayerisher Hbf with its brewery and restaurant. Superb in house beers and food looked good. For beer lovers I also suggest the brewery opposite Bach's church, Thomaskirche. Also great German food here. The church itself and Bach museum (free) are a must as is the Mendelssohn House and Grassi Museum, with the finest collection of musical instruments I have ever seen.Stunning....and free! The rail fare to Dresden was excessive at 54 Euros (£44) for a one hour journey. Hotel receptionist was born there and told me, on my return, that the bus takes on hour and is 6 Euros!!! Dresden has been rebuilt extensively since the appalling and unnecessary allied bombing in Feb 1945. Worth a visit just too see Opera House

Great hotel for your money

The staff could not have been nicer! Every evening they got me a mug of hot water so I could make tea. The room was nice, clean, quiet, and good intetnet connection. Location of the hotel is also great-- the neighborhood is fun and full of restaurants, and it's easy to walk to the Altstadt from the hotel. Terrific all around!

My girlfriend and I stopped in Leipzig on our way to Munich as part of our holiday. We picked this hotel because it looked great. We were met by friendly staff and cannot fault the room or buffet breakfast. What we loved the most was the surrounding neighbourhood which had loads of restaurants and small shops which had a great vibe at night.

We chose the hotel because of a Rick Steaves recommendation. For only 9 Euros, it had a great breakfast. The staff spoke English, our room was spotless and everyone was helpful. It is nice location south of the old city in an up and coming trendy part of town. Our bed was great and the hotel is only a half block from the tram line running into the altstadt. However, we walked to the altstadt most of the time - it's that close and there were many trendy shops we wanted to check out along the way.

One year ago, I stayed in this hotel and, while it was clearly a discount hotel, I had a pleasant and comfortable stay. On this most recent trip, I was assigned to a very tiny room in an adjoining building. The room had no space for me to put my luggage and there wasn't even a table or a chair where I could sit! To top everything off, the weather was terrible and I had to walk outside through cold, rainy weather to have my breakfast every morning!

It's rather problematic if you arrive after 11pm. The outside checking-in machine did not display accurate information and it was actually confusing. They only give the telephone of the security person who only spoke German. Finally, they did not have a pillow menu as offered.

Perfect hotel for the cool traveller

Hotel Markgraf is perfectly located in the coollest and most happening part of town, yet just a 5 minute tram hop to the city centre. It's welcoming, spotless, quite and with well-designed rooms that are simple and yet you can still feel comfortable if you want to sit and work in them, for example. It really is ideal.

A nice hotel, but a bit warm in the room and difficult to cool the room down. Too bad the room has wall to wall carpets. Also a bit sad that the hotel has a huge HOTEL lit sign outside the front rooms.

Didn't have breakfast as thought 9 euros was a bit steep. Plenty of bakeries/bistros close by for breakfast. Staff very pleasant but limited knowledge of English.

This property is well located just off Karl-Liebknecht Straase in south central Leipzig, close to bars, restaurants and good transportation. While it offers 4 star accommodation, I would rate it as more of a 3 star property by Irish/UK/US standards. Having said this it is great value compared to similar properties, with comfortable rooms and helpful staff and was perfect for my trip. Breakfast is extra at €9.50 and is worth it if you're up early enough. I would be happy to reccomend this hotel for holiday and basic business travel.

Really enjoyed 11 nights in Leipzig staying at the Hotel Markgraf. Our room was spacious and quiet, and the hotel generally was clean and simple. Staff were helpful - for example, providing maps, selling tram tickets and giving advice on getting around.

Breakfast was a bit expensive - €9.50 per person - there are cheaper options on nearby Karl Liebknecht Strasse.

Definitely not a four star, at best a two

BOoked into the Markgraf as my wife and I were moving to Leipzig, and the Markgraf was close to our new apartment. Pictures looked good on expedia, and a four star is usually a safe bet. Rooms are tiny, even by European standards, floor was stained, walls are paper thin, hot water was hit and miss at best. Your results may vary, but I paid the same price for the Penta hotel six weeks earlier, and it was worlds better than the Markgraf.

The hotel is about a mile from the city centre. Easily walkable, but frequent trams for those who can't manage it pass close by. Very friendly staff. Free internet in the foyer. Clean and comfortable. A quiet area, though the street is cobbled which means there is some noise from the light passing traffic when the windows are open. The buffet breakfast is plentiful and of reasonable standard, though it is not included in the room price. Spacious and attractive breakfast room with terrace. Overall convenient, pleasant, and good value.

Hotel was excellent overall. Good value ££ for rooms.
Breakfast seemed a tad over priced at 13 euros although it was pretty good - decent choice.
Rooms were very hot in summer - esp. top floor. Air con would have helped. Comp. mini bar nice touch ( orange juice, sparkling water, cola and a bar of chocolate all comp. in the mini bar. Alcoholic drinks are all chargeable but seem reasonably priced)
Location good. Easy access to/from hotel and city centre by tram. Restaurants/pubs right at the bottom of the street and good choice - although quiet on Kornerstrasse (where the hotel is) i.e. ideal location in many respects.
Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.
Would certainly recommend this hotel. Leipzig / Saxony is a wonderful destination for leisure travellers and the Markgraf is an ideal base.

Jeg var der som et stopover, så kun for en billig, hurtig overnatning. Man skal lige huske at ankomme senest kl. 21:00 ellers kommer man til en lukket dør. De var dog hjælpsomme og jeg fik et værelse.
Hvis man er til fest og farver, så en god beliggenhed. Undlad dog bilen, parkering er ikke nem at finde.

Não optamos pelo café da manhã, então não posso opinar a respeito (custo de 15 euros por dia por pessoa). Cama / roupa de cama e chuveiro bons. Travesseiro não me adaptei. Reservei um apartamento família considerando a informação que tinha elevador. Quando chegamos ao local, o elevador não abrange todos os andares, tinha 3 lances de escada para chegar até o ap, como estava com idosa que não sobe escadas, não foi possível manter a reserva. Nos realocaram em 2 quartos duplos, porém um bem mais simples que não tinha frigobar. Não foi como gostaríamos mas ao menos encontraram uma solução que o elevador chegava. A arrumação ocorre a cada 3 dias, caso queira toalhas antes disso ou troca de cama tem q pagar extras (não gostei dessa parte).

Spontan mittags reserviert und abends angereist. Sehr freundlicher Empfang, durchweg nur nette Mitarbeiter. Zimmer sauber, Bett sehr bequem. Das Einzige, was ich bemängeln könnte, ist die Enge im Bad, man \"klemmt\" fast zwischen Dusche und Heizung (zumindest in meinem Zimmer). Geparkt hab ich quasi vor der Tür. Lage perfekt, viele Lokale und die Straßenbahn um die Ecke, nicht weit zur Innenstadt. Preis unschlagbar, habe unter 60€ gezahlt. Komme sicher wieder.

Top-Hotel für einen Kurztrip. Tolle Lage. Die Innenstadt ist fußläufig nur ca. 15 Minuten entfernt. Zimmer sind praktisch eingerichtet und sauber. Mehr braucht man nicht. Reichhaltiges Frühstück mit netten Personal. Super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Hotel Markgraf in Leipzig

Es war sehr gemütlich, kein lauter Lärm von Autos oder Straßenbahn. Das Zimmer ist völlig ausreichend, das Bad ist auch sauber & i.O .
Personal auch sehr nett & witzig drauf . Ich würde es jeden weiterempfehlen.

Gut gelegen, guter Preis aber im Ferienapartment kein Stuhl zum Sitzen und trotz Angabe, dass die Zimmer mit einem Aufzug erreichbar ist, war dieser in der Zwischenetage und man musste Treppen gehen - sehr schwierig für die 88 jährige Gästin!

Hier wird Gastfreundschaft gelebt.

Sehr empfehlenswert. Super Lage, nahe der Tram und Ausgehviertel, dennoch ruhig gelegen.
Das Zimmer war sauber und komfortabel.
Was ich besonderes hervorheben möchte war der äußerst nette Empfang und die Gastfreundschaft. Jede Interaktion war super freundlich und man hat sich sehr willkommen und gut aufgehoben gefühlt.
Das Frühstück war lecker und hatte eine gue Auswahl. Toll fand ich auch die vielen liebevollen kleinen Details und Aufmerksamkeiten. Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt!
