Perfectly located hotel with the nicest most helpful staff. Marina, Rocco, all of the staff (and Hector the cat) were amazing. The view from our room was so pretty, and it was beautifully decorated. We came in February and the room was cozy warm (with great shower too). Comfortable beds, well-cared for property. (Fellow Americans: some units are up stairs. VERY worth it!! But talk to staff if you have trouble with stairs.) Lots of restaurants and all attractions were walkable. We hope to be back next spring!!

Recently created from refurbished buildings. Access to the hotel is up a hill through narrow streets and access to rooms is via a narrow steep staircase. We paid for superior room buts it's basically an ordinary double room. The pool was a welcome treat.Breakfast was quite a walk away and was poor with limited choice.

Pool small and cold but sunbeds round the pool were comfortable and usually in the sun.
Ask for a room in the main hotel and not the annex

Just back from a great stay in Room 7 at the Hotel Agava. Great location and really lovely hotel with the added benefit of a swimming pool. The staff were always so helpful and the breakfasts were amazing (at a local restaurant on the Riva).

We stayed at Hotel Agava for a week recently during August. We chose this hotel for its ideal location as it is walkable to the main Old Town of Split and because it also has a swimming pool. We opted for the breakfast included option that was at a nearby restaurant/cafe called Brasserie on 7, which provided a good variety of breakfast options on the menu and was a very good and new experience for us with good food and friendly staff. Our room was on the ground floor and right next to the pool, which was requested due to the other member of my party's mobility issues and was facilitated by the hotel staff in advance. The staff at the hotel were all lovely, very friendly and helped with any questions we had. Our only criticism/recommendation was that another mirror with lighting was needed in the main bedroom above the desk/dressing table. Also as our room was next to the pool (room 8), we didn't have any personal/private outdoor space to be able to dry swimsuits and towels and there was no drying rack in our bathroom. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Agava and would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others visiting Split.

A beautiful hotel in an ideal location.

The hotel is lovely and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. It's location in the old town is unique and beautiful. It is ideally situated for visiting Split and is an easy walk from all the main sites. The pool was lovely. The room itself was clean and comfortable, though the cot bed was not as comfortable as might have been wished, but it was adequate. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip.

Rocky start, but got much better

We had an interesting 2 night stay. It didn't start out great, but got better.

Our room in no way looked like what I had purchased from the photos. I paid for a large, superior room with a king bed, hard wood floors and lots of light, (I thought). What we got was; a queen bed in a small room with carpeting. It had a couple windows with nice views, but we felt that the cost should literally be half as much. The manager and I went back and forth and we thought about leaving. However, we didn't have time to find a new place, the location seemed great and we were tired and wanted to settle in. She gave us 2 days of free breakfast to help remedy the issue.

After that - we had a very friendly host for the rest of our stay and found the room quiet and comfortable enough for our 2 nights. Additionally, the location was really great and central. It turned out the breakfast was much more than we expected, at a restaurant that was a 5 minute walk away. It was a delicious 'brunch level' menu of large, very well prepared breakfasts that fueled us up for the whole day.

Net net: I would recommend this small hotel, but wanted to note that the photos might not (at all) match what you get, so be forewarned! They should really consider fixing the photos.

The staff assisted us with check in including parking our rental car in a safe lot and transporting our bags to the hotel. The front desk staff were polite and informative and took the time to explain the history of the area when we showed our interest. We were provided dining options and sightseeing options on the local map. The room was clean and the pool was a bonus as most hotels in the area do not have this option. Our stay was fantastic!

Possibly the nicest hotel we've stayed in. Ideal position for visiting Split, close to Old Town and Palace for sightseeing with lots of nice restaurants and bars also close by. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful and the property was really quaint with lots of character. Can't recommend this property enough.

This is a good location, pool area very nice, also,upstairs terrace. There was no free parking and no valet parking as stated on Expedia. We didn’t get the superior room w 3 beds and view we paid for. But they finally changed our room for last night and compensated for the error. Rooms are quite small, and few amenities, ie no ice no milk.

What a gem! This boutique hotel is in the perfect location in Old Town Split. You can walk to many restaurants and shops and are even close to the beautiful boardwalk. The room was perfect for what we needed. Very tastefully and simply decorated. And the staff was very kind. We met the owners and shared stories. And the pool was perfect for cooling off.
If you get the breafast option, you won't be disappointed. It's at a near by restaurant called Feel Green which we ate at everyday (we didn't get the breakfast option). The food is healthy and filling.

Easy and pleasant stay

This was a pleasant and easy stay. Only negatives - bed was not a king (listed as king), and the red carpeting on the floor was as it sounds...just not pleasant to have carpeted rooms anymore.
Overall we had a good stay - the pool looked fantastic though we didn't get to use it! Parking lot and the city is a very short walk. Staff was super nice and helpful. Note: certain rooms have quite a climb up the stairs!

Very central and perfect walking distance into town. Staff are really friendly, Iago was lovely and gave us lots of local recommendations. The pool is accessible at all times which is great if you want a swim either first or last thing. When picking the breakfast option it's just worth noting that you're given vouchers for a brasserie on the Riva. Lovely food and good portions but if you're staying for a week or so the menu is a little limited and the breakfast window is only 2 hours. Would definitely stay here again

Loved this quaint beautiful hotel just a few short blocks away from Split’s busy old town square, the harbor and great restaurants. Laying by the pool soaking in the warm afternoon sun and a cool swim were a welcome break from sightseeing all morning.

This was an amazing hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Views of the bay and the palace were amazing. The age and charm of the property was much more impressive than we expected.

Service was on point.

In my opinion, the only change I would suggest is to take out the carpet and replace with rugs.

The staff was so friendly and helpful!!!! They helped with luggage and gave us great recommendations on where to eat and what to see. The location is great - in the old town and near lots of interesting sites, restaurants, parks, and shopping. Seemed very safe and walkable. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. Nice pool also. The hotel also helped us with parking in a nearby lot for a reasonable charge. The hotel is on a narrow street in the old town - cars cannot come directly to the door but staff came to get luggage from the nearest car accessible street. Also stairs could possibly be difficult for some guests.

Great location. The hotel manager Anamaria was very helpful and arranged transportation from the airport, helped us get some laundry done, as well as connecting us with a great car rental agency for the next leg of our trip. Staying in Old Town is not like going to a Marriott, I don't think we could have even found the place, or gotten our bags there, without her help. Our stay was fun and unique and this hotel was perfect for getting to the tours and fun parts of the city with minimum hassle.

Hotel is hard to find because the GPS sends you to wrong address. Once you are there, staff greets you and even offered to go get our bags for us. Room was nice and clean but a bit damp and musty (could be because room hadn’t been used for a bit). Had a wonderful HOT shower. Bed was comfortable. Do watch out for the centipedes. Again maybe it was because it was the beginning of tourist season and the room had been vacant for awhile. Take advantage of the breakfast. It’s off site at a local restaurant abc was very very good! We would definitely come back. :)

Great boutique hotel

This is a lovely hidden gem in Split, a comfortable boutique hotel with excellent air conditioning, nice rooms and a decent pool. The location is great, right at the start of the Riva and close to everything but quiet at night as it’s on a quiet lane. The breakfast is served at a restaurant on the Riva rathe than in the hotel itself. We found that fine because it’s only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and the breakfast was great quality with lots of choice and is on a fantastic seafront location. The value of this hotel far exceeded other places we saw in Split. Highly recommend!

A great experience all around. Ivana arranged for a taxi pickup. I ended up using the same driver for all my taxi needs.
The room was very clean, tidy and bed comfortable.
All the staff were extremely nice.

My stay at Hotel Agava was excellent. The front desk staff (Ivana & Marina) are very helpful and kind. They are very attentive and offer great suggestions about Split and the area near the hotel. The cleaning staff is great and very nice as well. It’s really nice that there’s a pool there; very relaxing after a long plane ride. I will say - please be aware that this hotel has no elevator and the steps up to your room can be very exhausting if you have a lot of luggage :)

Nice Hotel and well positioned.

Lovely Hotel. Well-positioned (Almost walked past it as it's hidden down a side alley). In some countries, 'Boutique' means a small dingey hotel, but in this case, it is actually a good boutique hotel.

Only small criticisms preventing a 5/5 rating is;
1) No lift. If you're staying on the top (3rd) floor it's a bit of a killer lugging your families 5x cases up the stairs in the sweltering heat.
2) Towels smelt of smoke. The cleaner or towel washer needs to stop smoking around their work.

Other than that, nice staff, service good, location good, hotel lovely.

This brand new hotel is beautiful. A great location near the harbor in Split. Matina and her staff were great hosts, very accommodating of our travel schedule, attentive and even set up a shuttle from the airport for us. I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Split!

Prima accommodatie maar foto's geven een vertekend beeld. Kamer is prima en schoon maar niet heel groot. Als je slecht ter been bent minder geschikt i.v.m. de vele trappen (en geen lift). Goede plek om te overnachten en te douchen maar stel jezelf er verder niet teveel bij voor. Wel voorzien voor goed werkende airco en minibar. Op loopafstand (250m) van restaurants en winkels. Ontbijt is elders in een brasserie aan de boulevard en viel ons erg tegen en hebben na twee dagen ervoor gekozen elders te gaan ontbijten. Personeel is buitengewoon, ze doen er echt alles aan om het naar je zin te maken en zaken voor je te regelen. Parkeergarage voor (huur)auto tegen gereduceerd tarief (€ 25,- per dag) op korte loopstand
