My children and I spent a total of 20 nights at the hotel in June. We really enjoyed it, especially the kids who played in the pool almost every night. All the staff were very nice and friendly. The facilities were a bit old but that was understandable. We stayed for 18 nights at the beginning, then went to another city for two days and returned to Guangzhou to stay at the China Hotel again. Because of an air conditioning problem in our new room, the hotel changed our room. After packing our luggage again, my children and I waited in the room for almost two hours (around 7:30 pm) without any response. I contacted the hotel but it seemed they had forgotten about us, although they did send someone to our room to help us change rooms as soon as possible. Since I was traveling alone with three children and had a lot of luggage, we had to carry our luggage ourselves to the new room which was right next to the elevator and not as nice as the original room. However, I didn't mind for the last two nights. The hotel later brought us a fruit platter as an apology. Overall, it was a good experience although we weren't entirely satisfied at the end but we would consider staying at the China Hotel again next time.

I have visited two times, and on both occasions the experience was great. The staff are happy and go out of their way to help and ensure the stay is as good as possible. The rooms I have had were spacious, and well maintained and have all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. There is an acceptable gym, a nice outdoor pool, and indoor hot tub and sauna. A wide range of food is offered for breakfast in the restaurant, and they cater to a range of cuisine to a high standard. The location of the hotel is convenient, a short distance from the Line 2 metro.

The hotel's location was awesome, price was fair and the hotel was updated with very nice gym room and hot tub/sauna separately for men and women. The rooms are good size and beds are comfortable. However, the AC at the room we stayed at was not the best (we didn't change room because we thought it would cool down the temperature over time, but it did not), it couldn't keep the room as cold as we like. The cleaning service/crew was excellent. We would probably stay at China hotel again but will make sure to ask for a different room if the AC isn't working as well as we would like.

The location of the hotel was great. Being part of the Marriott brand, I was expecting better services n standards.

Called the front desk on few occasions, but the staff didn’t sounded too friendly.

I was also upset that my corridor smelled of soured durian husks for almost half of my stay there. Today surprised that durian was allowed in the hotel and the smell was left to linger for so many days. Totally not something I’ve expected from the brand.

Superb hotel. Booked executive double bedroom as breakfast included and were upgraded to a massive corner suite. Liked it so much extended from 3 to 8 nights in total and kept the same suite. Breakfast on 2nd level was busy but so many options. For that reason choose to have breakfast there rather than on 17th level executive lounge. However, 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the 17th level was brilliant for hot food, western and Asian, and dessert's which changed every day. Also access to unlimited free beer, wine, whisky, vodka, gin etc. was incredible value. Hotel is in a great location with metro literally on doorstep, never a problem getting a taxi and able to to walk if you want some exercise to Beijing Rd area. Would recommend to anyone visiting Guangzhou especially if booking an executive level room. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall, a nice hotel under the Marriott brand. Comfortable room, but slightly dated, can do with some technology upgrades.

Loved the housekeeping team, but the front desk wasn’t as friendly on the few occasions when I called. The corridor area started smelling of rotting durians on my last 3 days of stay. Was disposed that the hotel actually allowed the fruits in the room.

My two night stay was wonderful from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself feels quite luxurious. The lobby and hallways are grand and elegant, and even the elevators have a refined, high-end feel. It definitely gives the impression of a classic upscale hotel.

The room was very spacious, much larger than I expected. It had a large, comfortable bed, a generous sitting area, and even a bar table. The bathroom was huge as well, with a separate shower and an oversized bathtub, which made the room feel even more relaxing and comfortable.

Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would definitely choose to stay here again the next time I visit Guangzhou.

My family and I stayed at the China Hotel, Guangzhou for just one day, but it was easily the highlight of our trip’s accommodation. Despite our short stay, the experience was seamless and truly impressive.
What We Loved:
• Exceptional Service: The staff and services were top-notch. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well-taken care of. The team is professional, attentive, and efficient.
• Prime Location: The area is fantastic. It is incredibly convenient being so close to the Metro, making it easy to navigate the city.

This was an absolutely terrible experience.

The hotel does not provide air conditioning during the winter season (at least according to the staff), and the ventilation system was completely ineffective. The room was extremely hot and dusty, which triggered my dust allergy and caused red bumps on my face and neck.

Staff came to open the windows, but this only resulted in mosquitoes entering the room in the middle of the night. We were unable to sleep at all, and got sick on the next day.

The overall experience was exhausting and frustrating. We spent the entire morning trying to resolve an approved cancellation and refund for the remaining four nights. While the front desk staff were friendly, patient, and ultimately the ones who helped resolve the issue, our interactions with other staff members were highly unprofessional. Special thanks to Miss Xie and her colleagues for the unfriendly attitude, inappropriate laughter, and repeated interruptions—it was truly eye-opening.

Some hotel staff repeatedly claimed they either did not receive any emails or had already responded. However, Expedia confirmed that follow-ups were requested, indicating that these messages were not properly checked or handled.

To the management: as locals from Guangzhou, we sincerely urge you to show greater care and professionalism in managing China Hotel. This hotel has long been a landmark that generations have taken pride in, and it is deeply disappointing to see it decline to this standard.

A good hotel located in a convenient location close to Metro Line 2. Provides clean and comfortable rooms for a reasonable price; some good deals if you keep an eye on prices.

Excellent customer service in all areas of the hotel. Provides a good gym and outdoor swimming pool. Good buffet breakfast with a wide range of world cuisine offered from 0630 each morning. Some nice displays throughout the hotel and a range of shops in the building.

This hotel has lifts problems. Although there are four lifts but only one is usable. We took 20 mins to get down from floor 16th. We stopped every floor to pick up more people.
I stayed there for 3 nights and it happened every day. Lots of others complained about it but it never been solved.

Executive suite has all amenities i need. Room is clean although some decor isn't that neat. Rug (old-fashioned hotel vibe) and sofa have some dust scent if i put something down hard (fluff!). Food in buffet breakfast are acceptable variety.
Bed is comfortable, slippers , ironing and board, bathrobes . Shower and bathtub are nicely done. Front desk speaks English well.

Fantastic place to base yourself when visiting Guangzhou. We only stayed one night for a stopover but it was so convenient with the metro right outside and it’s on line 3, same as the airport. Great position for exploring the parks and old precincts. Highly recommended. Staff are incredibly helpful and speak English.
