Room was very clean, staff were very courteous and helpful. Onsen facility was very good. Dining options were limited. The cafe, food court, bakery were closed after 4pm, so dinner choices were limited to the expensive restaurants, unless you have transport and willing to travel to Myoko town.

Beautiful resort, incredibly friendly staff, great restaurant options and incredible skiing 2 minutes away. We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed every single minute of it. The only restaurant I couldn’t recommend is the shabu-shabu restaurant as the portions were small and not much flavour for the money. Well kept rooms, ski/ board storage was great and the onsen was one of the best I’ve visited in Japan.

Clean, spacious modern rooms. Space to unpack bags though this was a little sparse for 2 people on a 1 week ski trip. Onsen is amazing. Staff are friendly and courteous. They speak little English but not a problem with apps. Could use more dining space as we always had to make a reservation for dinner in advance. The food was pretty good though could use more variety.overall a pleasant stay. Not much variety in ski terrain as lots was closed off due to avalanche risk. Safety is important.

Dinner restaurants are limited, get booked out quickly. Staff were not very helpful. Shuttle buses to other ski areas were not available during the whole time that we were there and there was no alternative offered. It seemed that they are not very helpful to offer alternative whenever something is not available, eg restaurant or shuttle buses services. Drinks are very expensive including soft drinks. $11 aud for a soft drink.

This deserves much more than an 8.4 rating. We had one of the best ski stays ever at the Arai and we’ve stayed at Chamonix, Aspen, Jackson Hole, and Big Sky. The hospitality and food was amazing with some of the best service possible. The price was so much more reasonable than any other US destination. Thank you Lotte Arai.

The property was great but hard to get to and only had a shuttle at certain times. Make sure you reserve a seat beforehand and that it lines up for right after your train arrives. Also bring snacks because a lot of restaurants weren’t open during the end of the snow season

This beautiful resort would’ve gotten the 5 stars it deserved had it not been for the Vietnamese restaurant in the pas through that I reserved a table at. I was ignored while others were seated and orders taken and weee eating before I was acknowledged.

Had it not been for that place experience this place was easy 5/5.

Second visit to Arai. Snow was brilliant! Lifts are great compared to the older and more tired resorts like Akakura Onsen. My issue this visit is many facilities were closed. Bakery Cafe, Convenience Store, Asahi Restaurant we closed the entire time or for half our visit. The Plate was also feeling tired in terms of quality compared to our 2024 visit. Rooms and service are great. transfer excellent. Those issues made the great time more bland.

Hotel is split into Lodge and Aria. Lodge is more \"fancy\", Aria is basic. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, however the service is odd - no one greeted us on arrival, no one assisted us with bags. Staff just kept walking past us. Our main issue with the hotel came from the Ski rentals staff - they are rude and intentionally unhelpful. The impression I got was they are not interested in helping foreigners. Very unorganised. We filled out the rental form a day prior to us needed the gear - tried on boots etc. Expecting that everything will be ready the next day ready to go. But no, we needed to bring the copy of the form with us on pick up - why? You already have the original. They denied us our rentals without the copy. My husband had to hurry back to the room to find it. I had two young children with me, 1 yr old and 5 yr old and a ski lesson to get to. They ignored us while waiting for my husband despite the guy who served us the pervious day, acted like he didn't even recognise us. Once we got the rentals, I asked one of the guys to help my 5 yr old put his boots on, my hands were full holding our baby and clothes. He seemed very annoyed with me for asking for help, he walked over loosened his boot and walked off. I needed his help to put his boot on! Returning the gear was another drama, but you get the gist - not the best experience and would not recommend this hotel based on our experience with the ski rentals shop and lack of service provided by the hotel.

The Lotte Arai Resort exceeded all of our expectations on our recent 2 day getaway to the mountains. We only learned about this resort because it was affiliated with the Ikon pass, but we will certainly return for our next snow adventure in Japan.

The location was beautiful and less than 2 hours from Tokyo by shinkansen. There was a convenient hotel shuttle that provided door to door service from Joetsumyoko station to the hotel. The check in process was flawless. We stayed on the 5th floor of the Lodge building in the most spacious hotel room I've ever encountered in Japan. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room conveniently connected to our kids room next door. Restaurant reservations were a snap to get online. The Japanese restaurant AKIRA had both an extensive Japanese buffet for breakfast and a tasty local set menu for dinner. Restaurant HA NOI was fine but not up to US standards for Vietnamese food.

The ski/snowboard rental process was quick and easy. We were able to reserve snowboard lessons online without difficulty, and our friends were able to join the group lesson with only 1 days prior notice. The Village Station food court had modern Japanese standard fare that hit the spot after a busy morning on the slopes.

There were so many other nice details provided at Lotte including: the Christmas Market where we had a nice Irish Coffee, the Christmas Cake, the pool table and darts, and best of all, the Onsen.

Nice property!

A very comfortable stay for us on a road trip. The property is located in the mountains, about 30-45 minutes to the coastline where all the actions are.

Rooms were very clean and spacious. We had rooms that overlook the ski lifts. We went during the quiet season so there was limited dining options. It is a huge property with lots of attractions and we could imagine the buzz in the peak seasons.

There was no air-conditioning in the rooms during our stay but the staff brought in electric fans which did the job. A nice stay after all.

Great enjoyable stay

Our second time after 5 years and it’s still as well maintained. We stayed on the lodge/ club side and enjoyed the views from our room. The bar is a favorite, and Japanese restaurant as well. Can skip breakfast if not a big eater- bakery seemed nice. Didn’t enjoy the Korean restaurant as much. Skiing was great! We were lucky to get one day of powder! Ask for Kim in ski school.

This property has everything you need for an enjoyable time, especially skiing and soaking in the onsen.
The downside is not being able to explore outside the area freely as we were dependent on the hotel’s bus schedule the ride takes 30min to the train station.
We also had difficulty communicating with some of the hotel staff, even though we spoke Japanese fluently! We understand their need to wear masks (sort of) but many times we just wished they spoke more clearly.
All in all, we had a memorable time at Arai.

Check in was a lengthy process. We found that they could not seem to locate our bags and ski equipment that we sent ahead. They seemed disorganized and confused. Other guests in the lounge areas, dining room and onsen were very loud. Overall not very relaxing. The skiing was not great, as it was so warm, the
conditions were bad. The food in the breakfast bugfet was good, but the non Japanese items on the
dinner menu were not executed very
well. Fairly tasteless yoshoku choices.

This property was very over rated. There was no microwave in the room which made it extremely difficult to eat snacks. I thought for the price of the room it was incredibly small. We paid less for more elsewhere in Japan. I was not impressed at all and will not be staying here in the future and will not recommend the hotel to any one I know.

This was a great stay. The property was a bit dated and the rooms were older but the amenities were great. It’s not necessarily ski in ski out as you have to walk a bit to the lift. But overall it was a great experience. The hotel had a lot of foreigners that feigned absolute ignorance about the rules of the hotel. What was disappointing at breakfast you see the server telling you use gloves and mask when going to the buffet, and then you see a foreigner completely ignore those rules and uses his grubby hands to touch all the bread to choose one at the middle and toast it. Otherwise the stay was enjoyable.

So basically you are stuck in the hotel which doesn't have a lot of restaurants to choose from. Sushi counter has only a few seats available. korean restaurant and buffet is nice. so stay there for about 3 nights is enough

Booked a superior trple twin room (for 2 adults and 2 kids 13 & 11), and the check in staff kept trying to give us a room with 3 single beds. It required intervention from the hotel manager to finally get the type of room we had actually booked. When we got to the room only had 3 sets of towels, Yukata, and toiletries.
Breakfast was 12,000 JPY for 4 people and was not worth the money. I've had the same budget buffet breakfast in the business hotels for less than a 1/3 of the price.
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so you need to bring a lot of snacks, drinks, etc, or travel several kms to the nearest convenience store or further for shops.

On the plus side, the hotel looks very new and is very clean. The kids activities are great, but a tad pricey.

Very nice new self-contained resort, of much higher quality than most Ski resort accommodation in Japan, though would benefit from a few more facilities like a gym and a convenience store. There is a bus to take you to local shops but I was only there one night so didn't use. The skiing has limited runs but what there is is of good quality. Great onsen including outdoor bath. I tried to eat at the Korean restaurant without a reservation but was told it was full although several tables seemed to be available. Bakery was nice. Overall good for short skiing trips.

Worth a short ski trip

The resort is divided into 3 staying areas ie Hotel Arai, the Lodge and the Club. The room in the Lodge is big for 2 people. The Italian and Korean restaurants are generally good and so is the overall service. It has a hot spring in the hotel complex and you need to walk a little distance (with cover) if you are staying in the lodge or the club. Not much to do in the resort if you are not going up the hills for winter sport or going to the swimming pool. Ski pass and ski rental on site is a big pricey. The ski equipment on rental looks fairly new. If you are a beginner to intermediate skier, you may find the choice of routes a bit limited and maybe a bit boring after a few runs.

I was hesitant to stay at this resort because of mixed reviews read earlier. We found it to be a very lovely clean and new resort with friendly staff who if they could not understand english did their best to find someone who could! It was not overly crowded and in fact sometimes we were skiing by ourselves on the runs.. Its probably better for those who go off piste- there are only about 3-5 blue runs if you do not want to. Three day trip would probably be perfect.
With respect to the dining and all the prices and charges for extras (like swimming!) in the resort I think that they will eventually hit on the right formula. It's not quite there yet. There is not much to do around on a no ski day.
We used the hire equipment and it was practically brand new and had no problem.
We did not use the ski school though so cannot comment.
My summary is that the resort is nearly there. If the market is Australians or other Western countries they have to figure out what the families need with regard to food choices etc

Paying for privacy

The accommodations are overpriced and there's no options other than the hotel, but you're paying for privacy and sparsely populated slopes and it is worth it for the skiing. Things I wish I had known:
- For breakfast, do the western restaurant (the Japanese restaurant doesn't have much for breakfast)
- For dinner buffet, do the Japanese buffet and make a reservation! There aren't many tables so you may not get a seat without a reservation. The western buffet is also fine and had full kiwis the night I tried it. You can order a la carte from the Italian restaurant at the lounge but be prepared for a long wait and unattentive service (half an hour for a pizza and was such a pain to pay my bill...) - I recommend you just do buffet to avoid service issues.
- Don't buy the first-class lift ticket unless it is a light snow day. You can go on the lift half an hour early (8am instead of 8:30), which is worth it I think, but one day there was a lot of snow and everyone who got on early had to wait at the top of the mountain in the blizzard conditions while the staff \"checked the mountain\" -- not clear to me why they couldn't have done that 10 minutes earlier since we are paying a premium for early access...
- Annoying that the hot springs close at 9am on weekdays since checkout is at 11 and I would have liked to go after breakfast before I checked out.
- It's not a very well run hotel (check in and rentals are a pain), but snow is worth it.
- Wifi was incredible

The resort is amazing. Beautiful finishing.The food is extremely BAD of all the restaurant! We had to leave the resort every night to eat in the local restaurants.The restaurants in the ski filed you could only pay by cash but there is no ATM facilities in the resorts which is make it very difficult for an international traveler. Also this is not mentioned on the website.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this lovely resort! The rooms were exceptionally clean and well appointed. The onsen, fantastic. The restaurants, delicious.

The location is a tad remote but if you took advantage of the free shuttle to the train station or even to the local rest stop, you would have enough choices for picking up snacks or eating a casual meal off the property.

Some people have said this place is expensive. You get what you pay for. We didn’t find prices any more than any North American hotel.

If anything, they’re trying their best to accommodate their guests but you could tell that things could be running more smoothly, especially at the front desk. No on was there upon our arrival. I had to go to the back and knock on the door. Check out was a bit of a wait since only two people were working. There was a huge line of guests checking out. However, one employee did do her best to make sure we did not miss the shuttle.

Perhaps allocation of staff could be improved. The breakfast restaurant was always overly efficient. Some staff just seemed to linger around with nothing to do. Plates were promptly removed and everything was replenished quickly. The Japanese dinner buffet had no one clearing tables so we sat with piles of dishes next to us during our meal.

Overall, we were pleased with our stay but there were some improvements they could easily make. They have so much potential!

A great new resort right on the snow field

Came here with two small children to show them snow for the first time.

A great choice. New hotel with lovely large rooms, ours overlooked the ski field. The skiing lessons and instructors were fantastic, and staying right on the field was great.

There’s a range of food options, as well as a small village close by you can eat and get supplies.

Highly recommended.

Also snowed during our stay which was great.

Fantastic hotel, onsen and ski resort; very friendly and helpful staff. We also liked the bakery. The only downside is there are no casual, less expensive dinner options. Both the buffet (approx $70/person) and the Japanese restaurant were fantastic, but we would have liked if there were other more affordable choices. If you don’t have a car you won’t have any other dining options.

New hotel with minimum customer experience in staff. Most of the staff cannot speak English. Buffet dinner, which is expensive but not up to standard. Definitely not worth the price we paid for. Its like canteen food with an extremely expensive price tag to it. Breakfast was worse, I think the 3 star hotel in my country offers 10 times a better spread than what they offer there. Some left overs from dinner buffet food, a few miserable sausages.
Paid for an expensive resort experience but get a one star feel throughout our stay. Highly not recommended. There are much better ski resort in Japan that are really worth going - Not this.

The resort first of all is quite overpriced. The ski ticket machine at the hotel didn’t work and caused us a lot time to get a refund.

The hotel allows non guest skiers to access the ski slope through the hotel lobby. At times the lobby was filled with hundred of people. It’s a complete chaos. The concierge, hotel staff and the guest elevators were occupied non guest skiiers. It’s a complete nightmare for hotel guests. I’m utterly disappointed!!

大人４人で２部屋のコネクティングルームをとりましたが、
通された部屋が狭い２人部屋でした。
４人での予約だったため、ベッド2つでは寝れないので部屋から電話をしましたが、人手不足なのか？全く電話にでる気配がないので、フロントに戻りました。フロントも人手がないのか？だいぶ待たされ、通された部屋が２人部屋だった事を伝えたら、１０分くらいかかりコネクティングルームの鍵をくれました。年寄りがいて早く休みたかったので一安心しましたが、片方のテレビが電源が入らず使えませんでした。フロントに電話してもでないので、かたほうのテレビはあきらめました。
部屋は綺麗でしたが、最初に通された部屋から本当の部屋に入るまで時間がかかり、年寄りがいたのでちょっと大変でした。

予約制で、時間があまり選べなかったことが残念でした。
プールを利用しましたが、受付を通さなければならず、手間取ってしまいました。
同じところに大浴場があり、受付があると思うと気軽に行けず、一回しか入れなかったのが残念でした。
大浴場は広くて楽しめました。

団体が入ってみたいですが夕食会場の案内の悪さ、ブュッフェに対して料理提供が全然できていない。
朝食会場も人数に対してテーブル案内が無いので6人がけに2人が使用したり今まで色々利用していますがあんなに並んで待たされたホテルは初めてでした。
ホテルは静かで良い所でしたが食事に関しては残念でした。もう少しお客様をスムーズに案内できるように考えられた方が良いと思います。

清潔なホテルで、贅沢感もあり良いホテルかと思います。

他方て、従業員間の意思疎通があまりうまくいってないのか、サービス面で少し気になるところがありました。一例を挙げさせていただければ、お水のボトルが毎日サービスでつく規定になっているところ、三泊中初日以外支給されていませんでした。無料なので、ありがたいサービスですが、だからこそこちらから言いづらいので何も言わずに至急いただきたかったです。また、夕食でビュッフェを利用したところ、20:30最終の時間のところ、20:00段階でかなりデザートが足りていませんでした。また、スタッフの方々が店内で静かな声でしたが、「チーズケーキはもう出さなくて良い」と話していたことが偶然聞こえましたが、子供がチーズケーキを食べたがっていたので、ダメ元でスタッフの方々に聞いたところ、もう在庫がないのでチーズケーキはお出しできませんと言われました。内緒話を踏まえれば在庫自体はあるはずなので、(こちらの聞き間違いの可能性もありますが、)嘘をつかれたのではないかというモヤモヤが残りました。

ただ冒頭で記載させていただいたとおり、ホテルは清潔であり、スタッフの方々の対応自体は丁寧ですので、閑散期で安価であったことも踏まえれば多分に良いホテルだと思います。

コロナ禍に初めてArai棟に宿泊。今回は念願のLodge棟に宿泊しました。とても快適な部屋でみな大喜びでした。オフシーズンでしたので2食付で1人約16000円は大変お得感がありました。また機会があれば訪れたいです。

清潔感あり、静かな環境、スタッフの対応が良かった。浴室の露天の虫達には、ちょっと引きました。定期的に特に朝晩は対応が必要では。せっかくの景観が残念😢でした。
ドライヤー始め、コスメも良かったです。

It is a clean hotel and in very reasonable price. Only HKD 450/ per night . The lobby is newly renovated and the room is a bit old. But, the room is clean and I have no complaint. U can enjoy free onsen and the environment overall is good.

クラブ棟で2泊しました
以前のホスピタリティがあって高級なリゾートを体感できたTHEクラブではなく、今や施設がきれいだけど価格が高いだけのビジネスホテルです
荷物も部屋までご自分でとの事、到着早々無駄にホテル、部屋のグレードにお金を使ってしまったと感じたのは始まりで
朝食会場は2ヶ所ありますが洋食会場は質、種類ともに値段に間合いません
何よりスタッフがチェックイン、チェックアウト業務しか出来ないようです
何か質問、要望があっても叶うことはないでしょう
唯一の救いは屋内駐車場と言うことだけです

A+++++ powder skiing & beautiful onsen

The Lotte Arai is the best hotel for skiing and onsen. Super soft endless powder snow on the gorgeous mountain hills and the slopes were adventurous and super exciting. The expert++ slopes can be another surplus if you are expert level. The onsen is luxury level. Sitting in the hotel water with snow falling on your head, especially at Lotte's well groomed onsen is unforgettable.
The food at the hotel is not luxury level and limited as the location is all on its own with the city being 20-30 mins drive away from the site. One snowy evening when the Japanese, steak house, and Thai restaurant was full we drove out in the heavy snow to a slightly city area and found a local restaurant reccomending their stove rice pot, it became my top 3 best restaurant in Japan. I would reccomend driving out for food there was also a great Yakiniku not far away too.

超級滿意的酒店

好大型的酒店也有好多設施，自助餐和溫泉都很好，位立於滑雪場內。但個人覺得這個滑雪場對我這種snow board初級者不太適合，最底的綠色線雪道地形斜道不夠，橫版基本上動不了。如果上去上一條綠色線，雪道太窄而且九曲十三彎，加上最大問題是沿途旁邊全是萬丈深淵，心理壓力太大。

年末のスキー旅行のために３泊4日で滞在しました。
施設の充実さや清潔さには問題がなく、温泉やプール、レストランもとても綺麗でした。

レストラン数は少なかったものの、朝は和食、夜はステーキハウスがおすすめ。
夜の和食はテーブルの大きさに対して、料理の皿などが大きすぎて、あまり考えられていないと思います。

サービスに関しては、和食以外は問題ないけど、和食は難ありです。

レセプションでも対応がしっかりしているスタッフと不慣れスタッフがの差が激しく、目を見て話ができない方もいるので改善をされる方がいいと思います。
ちゃんとした対応ができる素晴らしい方もいるので勿体無いです。

全体的にいいホテル・リゾートだと思うのですが、ホームページが見づらく、重いので早く改善をした方がいいと思います。レストランのメニューも見えないし、デザインだけいい（重たいので結果全て表示されないので結果として微妙であるが。。）ホームページよりも、きちんと情報を見つけることができて、わかりやすいものに作り変えた方がいいです。

溫泉要自攜毛巾，否則每次二百円，用完酒店房間沒有毛巾了。上年直接去就有毛巾在溫泉區，對這個改變感到失望。韓國餐廳變越南餐廳有點不三不四，定價亦高。酒吧亦較昂貴。其他仍覺得可以。

とても良いが不快に思う箇所がいっぱい

今回2度目の利用でしたが、すごく素敵なホテルで快適に滞在できました。
ただ、いくつか気になった点がありましたので、改善いただければと思います。

まずスキーレンタルの際、装備を整えた後に元々履いて来たシューズを預けようとしたところ、預かりはできないと言われ、ロッカーを使うよう指示されました。しかし、ロッカーを使用するには現金200円が必要で、現代では現金を持ち歩かない方も多いため非常に不便でした。
スタッフに相談しても柔軟な対応をしてもらえず、仕方なく一度着たスキーギアをすべて脱いで部屋まで現金を取りに行く羽目になりました。
部屋までは途中雪道もあるので片道10分かかりすぐに滑れると思ってたので大変な思いをしました。現金不要の仕組みや柔軟な対応を検討してください。

あとスキーレンタルのスタッフの対応について、
明らかに態度が悪く意地悪な方がいて、特に外国人のお客様には良いサービスをしている一方で、日本人に対しては冷たい対応をしていました。

また、スタッフ同士でのいじめのような雰囲気も感じられ、不快に思いました。
そのスタッフの話し方や態度は非常に失礼で、まるで客を舐めているような印象を受けました。
色々なスキー場へ行きましたがここまで最悪の対応ははじめてです。

またその虐められているスタッフの対応はどのスタッフより丁寧で心がありました。良い人材がその女性スタッフのせいでいなくなります。

せっかくホテルで快適な時間を過ごしていたのに、その女性スタッフ2人のせいで気分が台無しになりました。スタッフの教育やサービスの質を見直してください。

さらに、レストランスタッフの制服のズボンが短かったり、傷んだ靴だったりと、見た目に清潔感が欠けていました。また、皿の片付け方がガチャガチャとうるさく、ホテルとしてのマナーが欠けています。せっかく美味しい料理も落ち着いて食事を楽しめませんでした。サービス業としての基本的な教育が必要だと思います。

温泉について、綺麗でリラックスできる空間ではありましたが、流れている音楽が雰囲気に合わず、音量も大きすぎでした。心身ともに癒される空間として、音楽の選曲や音量を見直していただけるとより快適になると思います。

全体的には素晴らしいホテルで快適に滞在できましたが、一部スタッフの対応やサービスの改善をお願いいたします。
これらが改善されれば、次回はさらに快適な滞在ができることを期待しています。また利用させていただきたいと思いますので、よろしくお願いいたします。

前回(2年前)、利用をさせて頂きましたが、ビッフェの内容がかなり良くなったと思います。
この食事内容からしたら、かなりコスパは良いと思います。
ベッド(シモンズ)の寝心地も良いです。

夏場で、自然の中なので仕方ないことですが
ナイトプールに虫がたくさんいて、
(スタッフさんは網で取ってくれてましたが)
虫が苦手な我が家は5分で終了しました、、、
そんなこともあり、宿泊者で、プールにあの値段はなしかなぁ。。。

アクティビティは豊富で楽しかったです！
ご飯も満足だし、お部屋もきれいだし、お風呂もよかったです！
