Quiet place in busy Thamel

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. This hotel is quiet and nice, away from busy street, and I was able to stay comfortably. Overall I am happy with my stay and think it was good value. The only thing is free airport transformation. I made a request when booking but got a confirmation email in the morning of my arrival day. I was not aware of the email and ended up with arranging transportation on my own. I wish I was able to receive a confirmation on the previous day. Other than that overall it was a good stay.

The staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive. The room was perfect. Very comfortable. Very quiet. The breakfast was gorgeous. The fruit juice offered on checking in was beautiful and a nice touch.
The staff were there to help in any way needed.
Restaurant recommendations or places to see on foot. The chips with the dinners were absolutely gorgeous. I don't know the secret, but they were amazing. The breakfast omelettes were fantastic too. I stayed here twice on my trip and would do so again. Highly recommended.

I wonder how it was considered as 4 star hotel in the first place. Highly doubt about all the 10/10 reviews, if those are paid reviews. Stayed several hotel in Nepal in 10 days, but none of the hotel was misguided like this. The pictures shown in the sites are at least 5 years old. No wonder why they offer low price for so called 4 star hotel. It’s a 2 star hotel who claims they are 4 star. Booked their premium suits and it was just a bad maintained place. Not going back there again for sure.

What a great place
You’ll be made to feel very welcome and nothing is an issue from the warm welcome at reception to the people sorting your bags all with a smile.
The room I had was spacious and the balcony enough to sit quietly for a drink
Breakfast was ample with a good choice including fresh omelettes
I arranged a trip through rection and I would recommend this as i got a great day out with an amazing guide

Dom Himalaya was a very nice place to stay in Kathmandu. They provided transportation to and from the airport. The manager was very helpful and courteous and provided an organized tour and transportation to local sites. The breakfast buffet was very exceptional. The room was well maintained and comfortable. I am BEYOND impressed by this hotel. I booked it without doing too much research beforehand, figuring it would just serve as my starting point in Nepal and then I would go from there. For as well-priced as it is, I didn’t expect much. I was mistaken. I was greeted by the kindest staff and treated like family throughout (and even after) my stay. The pictures posted are accurate and don’t even do the place justice. The rooftop has scenic views and there is a courtyard for relaxing and having a coffee or a meal. It is tucked away on a small yet busy road, but it is about a 10 minute walk from Durbar Square.

I cannot recommend this place enough. You will be getting way more than your money’s worth in all aspects of the stay!

The staff were extremely helpful, considerate, and friendly! The room was clean and the breakfast was good. The hotel is back away from the road so it was very quiet. (Someone in another room mentioned a lot of pigeons outside the window and they were loud, though.)

It had an multi-adapter extension cord so that I could plug in devices into outlets other than using my one adapter plug I brought with me.

It didn't have a lot of hot water, or at least not when I took my showers. Other than that, everything was great.

The hotel advertises itself as a 4-star hotel but is far from that, even by Nepali standards. They advertise a free airport pickup, but even after they confirmed by email twice that they would pick us up, there was no one to pick us up when we arrived. Not quite the warm welcome we were expecting. Their food leaves little to be desired. They served us cold potatoes for breakfast, along with their powdered coffee. If you must stay here, go to Blueberry Cafe next door for breakfast. They are listed as a quarantine hotel, but workers told us that there was no need to wear masks in shared spaces indoors. Witnessed cooks coughing over food while cooking. Overpriced and not worth the value. Broken elevator daily. We checked out early and they stated they would work with Expedia to grant a refund, but that didn’t happen.

Property seems to be newly built, rooms were clean and cousy, but hotel is running out of bare minimal of staff, on 2 service people ( Nabaraj Jee and pradeep ) and 3 chef run complete hotel. Breakfast has no much choice and it's plater, always had HOT water issue, lift most of the time not operating, cleaning of room has to be stressed upon as only 3 jenitors on site non that too only day time . Owner himself available at hotel during day time and interacts with all guests and try his best to keep things good. Mr Nabaraj Jee is excellent and always available at your service 24/7 with smile never saw him taking rest..... Suggest adding some more staff will be good and will surely look forward to stay again 😊. # Hallal Food NOT AVAILABLE,. Nearby there are Two resturants which serves hallah food one of them is Anatolia and one just OPP to it.

A Family here in Nepal!

I'm a solo female hiker traveling during COVID. I travel a lot, and never in my travels have I stayed in a hotel run by such caring and friendly staff. Right away, they made me feel safe and part of their family. They really took care of me, calling me if I didn't come down for food, had the hotel driver to take me on errands, and went way out of their way to make sure I booked the cheapest flight to Pokhara. Even after I left, they offered to keep in contact during my continued trip in Nepal in case I need anything. The rooms are beautiful, clean, comfortable. Amazing place! Staff are tested for COVID every week, and guests can get free tests as well. I felt extremely safe and taken care of. Thank you for such an incredible stay!

My husband and I booked with DOM Himalaya Hotel based on the great reviews along with the amenities. Upon our arrival, we were notified that the gentleman in our room was unable to check out as he was very ill. They quickly transferred us to a sister hotel, Kathmandu Suite Home, for the first couple nights of our stay. This hotel was also very nice and they gave us an excellent room at this location. After two nights, they helped us transfer to DOM Himalaya for the rest of our stay. It ended up being great that we got to stay at another location as we got to try some restaurants and check out shops in another part of town, but it wasn't too far away. The manager stayed in constant contact with me to ensure we were taken care of and the staff was equally accommodating. Our room was very large and had a nice balcony that we spent a lot of time on. The entrance area is also outdoor and a great place to relax after walking around all day. It is very peaceful even though it is in the middle of Thamel. The breakfast buffet is also great and is available from 6-10am every day with some rotating items. We were very happy we chose this hotel as every individual who worked there including the bell boy, front desk clerks, security guard, waitstaff, and managers were all absolutely superb in providing the best experience during our stay. We look forward to staying here again in the future!

Raj and the staff were very friendly and engaging BUT the room we were allocated leaves a lot to be desired - We could not take a shower because the water was either scalding HOT or freezing COLD; when we asked to have it fixed, we waited a long time for anyone to come until I personally had to go to the front desk for assistance only to be told that they couldn’t do anything about it; the TV in the room was not even plugged in as there was no socket for it; on the day we checked out, there was no power to the hotel so we had to carry our bags down from the fourth floor; this caused us to want to move to another hotel after the 3 nights pre-paid stay at this hotel

A Gem ! An Oasis in busy Kathmandu.

A gem in Kathmandu. We were delighted with our stay. Booked a Superior twin room with balcony for part 1 of our stay & got an upgrade to family room 303, super. On our return, we got room 404 ( twin superior, which we had booked) which was ok but we were upgraded next day to Family 403. I advise to book a Family room ...much more spacious, has a safe etc. Staff wonderful (including helpful, friendly security staff) Reception stored our luggage while we travelled to Lumbini. When requested, they searched & found our missing pasport in our luggage and gave it to our taxi driver to deliver to us, FANTASTIC. Breakfast was excellent, varied between a la cart and buffet. Staff super, eggs , vegetables, porridge, pancakes, basically anything we asked for was freshly cooked. Free water in rooms and lobby...also free coffee. Observation....(as a keen DIY woman)...........maintenance and repairs need attention. It's a new hotel but falls a bit down here. Overall a very pleasant stay. Thank you very much for everything. First we were put in a room with 2 small single beds with no desk or luggage stand. Bathroom had no shower curtain & despite us complaining no action taken. The following day complained to d owner, first he tried to argue saying how backkpackers keep their luggage etc. After telling him we r not backpackers & d description of deluxe room on website is different, we were transfered to a family room. The toilet seat was coming off in d bathroom, got it repaired & used it. Staff should attend to maintenance & check things before checking in customers with respect & care for customers. That is d way to develop a business & a country.

I went to check-in and the staff were very courteous. In a few minutes, they told me some story about an emergency which held up some other guests at the hotel (i think i saw the another client state this in another review) and so there was no room for me. They were not sure about what to do since i was a expedia booked customer and debated a while. They didn't know i knew how to speak nepali. So finally they took me to Kathmandu Grand to a small room with window overlooking the inner staircase. The manager (i guess) of DOM though was concerned and offered a dinner on the house. I choose DOM based on reviews and the location but didn't serve my purpose.

Rooms are spacious and xlea. Small but nice balcony. Staff were friendly and helpful. The driver from airoort was great. Person who greets toh at airport with name sign is not part pf hotel and is agressive about getting a tip.
