You get what you pay for, and this is an affordable option in Barre. I stayed in a “single room” and was surprised at how big it was, very spacious, two beds. The room was very clean. The bed was comfy enough, the A/C worked great on an unseasonably hot weekend. It’s very dated, and the property and furnishings look to be at least 30 years old. I stayed in the cheapest room type, though, and it sounds like the other types of rooms are a bit nicer. I stayed w a large group and saw some of them.
The person at the front desk was very friendly, and understanding when I forgot to return my (physical, metal) key and had to send it back w someone else staying there on my checkout day.
The breakfast is very simple, continental, but they do have a waffle maker for a hot option, and the coffee was good enough.
It’s very close to the grocery store, super convenient.
If I ever needed to go back to Barre, I wouldn’t mind staying here again.

Funny smell in the hallways but the room was really clean. Great shower. Very effective air-conditioning.
Breakfast was minimal.
Owner was kind enough to allow our group to watch the NBA championship game in the dining area.

The staff was great. The air conditioner worked, but needed staff to turn it on by mashing the power button repeatedly. The breakfast was pretty scarce, terrible coffee and some little pastries.

Too much air freshener! Had to unplug it and hide it in a cabinet. Still the room was soooooo over freshened! Light on the balcony, way too bright. Needs some updating! Maybe more than some.
AC worked great. Room was clean bed was ok, need more/better pillows. Happy to only needed it one night.
Front desk was helpful and pleasant. We did not make use of their breakfast.

The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. The main structure has been newly renovated and the owner is working on the perimeter buildings. The continental breakfast was fresh and the coffee was good. I booked there for my next visit in June. Great place to stay at a reasonable price.

The room was spacious and clean but a bit outdated. I read on Hotels.com there was a restaurant and a bar on site; this is NOT the case. No one was around in the morning to request a towel for our third person; we were only given two. Employee showed up ~ 9:00. Check out is 10:00.

This is a nice place to stay. It did smell strongly of incense throughout the building, and the ice machine was broken. The staff, i think he was the owner, was very nice and helpful and made up for any sort comings. I would recommend the place.

Room was very clean and nicely equipped.
Upon checking in I was \"upgraded\" at no cost to a room in the main building. This was after I asked about safety of items locked and covered in my vehicle. One biggest complaint is that the doors to the outside were not locked at night. I have heard a lot about past troubles at the location UNDER DIFFERENT OWNERSHIP and think that increased security would help. According to local people I spoke with there are a group of people living at the hotel who are in care of Social Services. While I support offering this initiative, I also think that security should be important to all.

This motel is a work in progress...which is a good thing! The owner checked us in and told us his vision for his new venture. He was the most kind and accommodating person on our 2 week trip. He's spent 8 months remodeling the place and it was very clean and our room was huge! He has lots of ideas for the future of this motel. Our only negative was the lack of a nice continental breakfast. He did have 6 flavored creamers though! He even helped put our luggage in our car because it was raining. I would like to go back someday and see all the new changes i know he will make. 😊

The room was pretty clean for the most part. The man at the front desk was nice and actually came up to our room to help us turn on the heater. It’s a convenient location if you want to go to multiple places in Vermont and even New Hampshire. Lots of parking too.

Some things that I think could improve:
the entire lobby area and hallways where the rooms are smell very strongly of incense.
The rooms could use some updating. The bolt on our door was broken off for example and the rooms are opened by an actual metal key.
The WiFi needs some major upgrading - you can’t load anything other than maybe sending some texts. I used cell service data most of the time.

Very accommodating personnel, very generous size room, clean and quiet. Large balcony overlooking trees, which we didn't get to use because we only had a short stay, but would probably be a great outdoor relaxing space where you can have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. Overall, very good stay.

If you are looking for bare basics, this hotel is adequate, but just barely so. It is clearly a facility that has been only partially renovated, but it has a long way to go. The upholstered chairs were frayed and stained, and one of the nightstand was splattered with paint. There was an old, unused TV bracket on the wall, as well as an old, uncovered electronic device that appeared to be unused motion censor. Rusty, old-style fire sprinklers were present. The sink in the kitchenette area needed to be repaired, as it sprayed up as well as down. The bathroom needed paint and still had an old, uncovered phone jack on the wall. The view off of the balcony would have been nice if it had not been for the piece of construction equipment parked out back and the dead plants on the ground below.

It seemed like we were the only people staying in the main building, which, in addition to the sketchy neighborhood and odd noises made the whole experience a bit creepy.

It seems like the management is trying to improve this hotel, but it has a long, long way to go before it is up to the quality we would expect from hotels.com.

We stayed for 1 night as part of a New England road trip. We were met by the owner on arrival who could not have been more helpful. He suggested a number of places to eat. The room was clean and tidy and included bottles of water, soap etc. The breakfast had many choices and all were fresh. Would stay again

This was not a great experience! First we were put in the Motel part-not acceptable--creepy, awful. Then he put us in the regular part of the hotel--better, but still problems--outdated, hair dryer didn't work, ice machine didn't work. Breakfast---yogurt not on ice just out--not willing to take my chances. Needs a ton of improvements--not worth the money at all.

Walking into the lobby is nauseating! There is an OVERWHELMING smell of incense because they are burning it at the check-in desk. It permeates the entire lobby, which is open to the lounge/breakfast area, so that area is affected as well! Thankfully, we had a ground-floor room with a walkout slider so we could avoid the lobby! No way we were taking a chance with the in-house breakfast!

The room was fine, but many simple things were missing that I had to go back to the lobby and request, like a working TV(It was unplugged, and the directions for the remote were missing a key step)

There were no plastic cups, no tissues in the room, and the fabric chairs at the table were covered in stains and had tears in them. Not a great look!

My husband and I came into town for a wedding and not knowing the area we chose The New World Inn. We were very impressed with the kind, welcoming manner of the owner and how clean and comfortable the place and the beds were. The shower was better than mine at home! We had a nice balcony off our room which we used in the morning and evening. My husband liked the choices of the breakfast. He also loved the freshness of the coffee. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone staying in the area.

Your filter we used to list only hotels near Barre VT
that had pools available. When we arrived at New World Inn we learned that the pool was not available. It was being
dug anew and had digging equipment in it, not water !!!
The bathroom door had a loud skreech on the last 2 inches, because the hinges were very loud and needed a hammer or something to hit them, or oil them, and the sink had no plug !
