Nice property but showing it’s age

Decent property but don’t let the Palazzo designation fool you. The palace is showing its age and the amenities are not necessarily palatial. The AC works well which is a must as Venice can get nasty hot. A very easy walk from the train station. I believe that there are two parts to the property. Apartments and rooms. We had a small apartment for three nights. On the hotel side, breakfast seemed to be provided for its guests. Excellent communication with the owner.

Just an average old building which I dont really see why it is advertised as a “luxury” apartment. You are paying essentially for location. Just be careful when booking as this property has no free breakfast but advertised as such. We wanted to stay in the city center but I would have never paid what I paid had I known it had no breakfast. Our apartment had 2 AC units but one didn’t cool so we had to move all the mattresses to that room because the other areas of the apartment were not comfortable enough for us in the middle of summer. Furthermore, the place needs a deep clean under and behind furniture as the dust is literally piling up.

Best part of our trip to Venice

Perfect for families. The apartment is huge, beautifully decorated, with views overlooking the canal. 6min walk from the main train/parking/bus area, which is perfect for families traveling with kids who don't want to drag their luggage 30mins across a dozen bridges into the city. There are two mini mart stores and a two restaurants a few steps outside the apartment. Check-in was easy, our host Michele reached out to us immediately after booking and personally met us during check-in to walk us through the apartment. Overall, great experience I would definitely choose to stay here again.

This is a beautiful, authentic Venetian property overlooking the canal. It is in a great location 5 minutes' walk from the Piazzale Roma - so convenient if you are arriving by bus. Bed was comfortable. Friendly, helpful owner. Everything was fabulous.

Amazing large apartment in the middle of Venice and a wonderful place to escape the crowds. Very easy to get to with luggage from Piazalle Roma and excellent communication with the owner. Highly highly recommend!

We have stayed at Palazzo Odoni before (but in the hotel, which is part of the same building). The palazzo is beautiful and in a perfect location. We liked our apartment, but there was a little confusion over the hotel and apartments being separate and it was not always easy to communicate with our host as (unlike the hotel hosts) he was not always around. It was possible to message him, but on our last day, we wanted to pay our city taxes and were unable to pay him in person. This was a small concern, and otherwise our stay was wonderful. The location is quiet, safe, convenient and very beautiful. I would recommend the palazzo (both hotel and residence) highly. One consideration though, is that there are a lot of steps followed by stairs at the entry, so guests need to be mobile.

What an amazing property! Beautifully decorated and so much space for such a good price! We booked the family room and were emailed prior to arrival multiple times to ensure that we were met when we arrived. Very friendly and speedy in check-in, then we entered our apartment - true luxury! Both a formal and informal lounge, a beautiful kitchen with everything we needed to cook our own meals, two separate dining rooms, couches galore, beautiful views from the windows. Loved it! Will definitely be staying here on our next visit.

From the moment you enter its majestic doors to see the chandeliered entry, then walk up the steps to its grand foyer, Palazzo Odoni is something special. The apartment is spacious, elegant, and lovely in every way.
The air conditioning was perfect. Whirlpool tub in the marbled bath was delightful. At night it was so dark and quiet in the comfortable beds. Although we had heard hotel rooms are very small in Italy, this provided all the space needed for a family of four adults with one extra bed. Refrigerator was helpful.
We also liked that it is located a short distance from the train station so you don’t need to drag suitcases across Venice as so many were doing. This quieter neighborhood was a good place to relax. Several restaurants were nearby. We were so pleased with this beautiful apartment!

Great location - close to Venezia S. Lucia train station and the bus station, so you don't have to travel too far into the island if you have luggage. Received very detailed directions from the owner, which was helpful, and he was there to meet us and help carry our bags up (note: there is a staircase to climb up). Our place was really a home away from home, with lovely Venetian decor, and a small kitchen so we could have a quick bite for breakfast. Although there are really lovely bakeries in restaurants in the area, so those are worth checking out. Also very quiet at night. Overall, really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it!

We spent 3 wonderful days at Residence Odoni over the Easter weekend. We were greeted by the owner who accommodated our last minute requests with great kindness and professionalism. The apartment was very nice and the location just great. It's walking distance from the main sites, yet it's quite apart from the noise of the city center. I couldnt recommend it more strongly.

Good location close to the train station. No shower, only tub. Stained/soiled linens kept us from using one of the beds. Check in kind of messy (no on site staff). No luggage storage (host let us put bags in a public un-monitored hallway). Host was nice, but stopped responding after a few email exchanges regarding issues mentioned above. Plastic and cheap light fixtures (not a huge deal there).

We chose this property because it is close to the railroad station and Piazzale Roma and the Campo Santa Margherita. It is also close to most of the sights we were in Venice to see.
The apartment is conveniently laid out. The bathroom is spacious; it's only drawback is the steep sided tub that requires caution entering and leaving. There is no maid service on Sundays, but that was not a problem for us. The kitchen is small but certainly usable. The proprietor is a nice man who was helpful at every turn. He gave us a great map of the city, a true necessity in this wonderful place of waterways and narrow streets, some barely wide enough for one person to pass another.
The property is approximately 10 minutes from the two major transportation hubs and about 15 minutes from the Academia and the Rialto bridges. We used the boat system to get to San Marco. We found lots of good places to eat nearby.

Great location but...

Great location and helpful staff! The couch bed was very uncomfortable and the regular bed seemed to be slightly slanted. I found it hard to get a good night’s sleep. It was basically clean, but a few ants in the bathroom and the tub didn’t work to give kids a bath. Overall, it wasn’t a bad place to stay and for the price we paid, it was a great deal!

The Property is at a very good place. Highly accessable from the main car and bus stand of Venice city. Only a 3-4 minutes walk from the Palazzo Roma Staion and bus stop.
The view is very nice and apartment is very good too. The dineware is also beautiful and everything of need is present in the apartment. Moreover you can walk to St Marks Square and Doges Palace from the apartment it may take 20-30 minutes but you will see the true venice in the way as you pass through lanes and cross bridges.

Well kept place in good neighbourhood. Owners obviously are proud about the apartment that has been around for 5 generations. Keep up the good work.
The only down side is that you have to cross a bridge with many steps from the railroad station to get to the island. We had to hire “the people mover” to help us with 4 large luggage. Only 10 min walk, but not an easy task in 35C weather and many steps to pull the luggage. Extra cost of 30 Euros one way.

Stayed in the appartment with a family of 5 for 4 nights. Great location, near all transport links but quiet at night. Effective air con in July, comes with a fridge and a small safe, plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, also next to park. Had a double bed upstairs, 3 single beds downstairs and a table for eating. Wifi supported 3 youtube streams which kept the kids happy. Plenty towels and hot water.

Beautiful suite rooms in peaceful Venice location

Our suite room was huge! The decor felt like being in an actual palazzo. Location was amazing. We got to really feel like locals (a rare thing in Venice!) in this area that’s a little off the main beaten track. Very easy to navigate to though (again a rare thing in Venice!) given the proximity to the train station. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring all of Venice during the day, and then coming back to soak up the peaceful local atmosphere for aperitivo or after dinner drinks.

Venice is small so there is no need to stay next to tourist attractions where everywhere is crowded. This location is 5 min walk to train station and yet very quiet, even at day time. Coming out of the property and the quiet part of the canal is next to it is a plus. Walk to St Marco takes about 30 min, which is a nice walk.
Property is clean and comfortable. Property management is professional and kind. The only con is that there isn't much room for hanging clothes.
Overall, it is good for a 4 person family.

The photo of the guest room on Expedia was misleading- it does exist in one of the apartments, NOT ours.
The good:
great location- very close to the bus, car, taxi stand to enter/exit Venice. Fairly close to train station as well.
Interesting architecture- high beamed ceilings on main floor of unit- antique furniture.
Perfect for 5 people, a bedroom for two, 3 daybeds in living room.
The bad-
Walk up- you and your luggage will need to navigate two flights of steep stairs. The inside our unit ANOTHER FLIGHT OF STAIRS FOR BATHROOM. The bedroom and the only bathroom for our unit was located up a spiral type staircase in the attic. This was very challenging for my 80 year old mother in law in the middle of the night.
Seperate hotel in building- yummy smell of fresh coffee and bread each morning wafting into unit, but NOT for you! The residence guests are not invited to breakfast and the owner of the hotel is firm (and rude) about this fact.
Old carpets - while the apartment itself is fairly clean, there is a musty/smokey/animal urine smell that permeates the hall and main floor. Carpet needs to be changed (especially in hallway) asap. Everything high appears to need dusting too.

Nice apartment with Canal view !!!

Great apartment for your stay in Venice. Has a nice view out your windows of the canals as stated. There are no lifts at this apt. You will have to carry bags up stairs to get to room. No problem. Just open a bottle of wine. Nice places to eat within walking distance. Getting around Venice is a little challenging, everyone very helpful. We were only in Venice for a full day, stopover on our way to Florence. Would definitely return here if we get back to Venice.

Our experience at the Palazzo Odoni was amazing - we were situated very close to the train station and the waterbus, while also within walking distance of many stores and restaurants. The place itself was very clean, with comfortable beds and acceptable sofa beds. Bathroom was also top notch - probably the best of the places we stayed in our 2 weeks. Michael was accommodating and gracious.

If you want an historical experience, this is it. Nice apartment, beautiful view..but trade.that for comfort.Ned was breaking down, and jet.tub never worked...its great if you are out all the time. Do not expect Anyone to be around to help you, if you need staff, call the manager. One of our best stays!

We loved our stay, everything we expected. Cosy & comfortable. Love how it's decorated in the periodic-style. Although water pressure was a little low & hot water was a little patchy at times, I'm guessing it's due to the old buildings in Venice or maybe having 5 people showering in a row, but the heating in the bathroom & entire apartment fully compensates for it. Check-in & check-out was smooth and there was an information booklet for what's where. Highlight had to be living room windows opening up to the canals, with a bonus of fantastic sound insulation!

Ok place but do your research before booking

First off this is not a hotel even though there is rooms operating as one. The rate does not include any breakfast and you cannot buy it from the hotel side. That section is owned or managed by another party. Don’t bother with trying to deal with the Hotel manager or desk staff during the day as they will not help you at all and are less than friendly. Second if you have a lot of luggage or can’t walk stairs this is not the place for you. We arrived early evening and the owner was gone for the day. The night porter who doesn’t work for the actual owner helped us with our bags which was good as there are 2 very steep and long flights up to the Residence. The Residence is a 10 minute walk from the San Marco parking garage so if you have a car and a good amount of luggage this a good location to stay. Realto Bridge and San Marco Square are only a 15-20 minute walk. The apartment was nice and well appointed. We have very little hot water the first morning but that may just be a volume of business issue on a Sunday as both the Residence and Hotel were full. The heater banged all night the second night which was irritating considering we had to wake up early so didn’t get much sleep. The location is quiet and the grounds/courtyard is really nice.

Highly recommend the Dolphin Pizzaria just half a block down the street. We ate there both nights as the food was good and the staff are fantastic. Even get a shot of Lemoncino free when they bring you your bill. Nice touch.

Palazzo Odoni, fantastic!!!

My wife and I booked a suite at this hotel for a long weekend. The suite was amazing, split over 2 levels with a jacuzzi bath upstairs next to the bedroom. The hotel is literally 5 mins walk from the main bus terminal and also close to Rialto bridge.
I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a stay in Venice in a sumptuous Venetian style suite.

Very convenient location, quite a palace of an apt

We were met personally by the owner, who gave us the keys and checked us in. There was no staff present during our stay after that, but we had no need of any. The location was ideal - five minutes walk from the parking garage. The pdf file of the map sent to us by the premises before our arrival ensured our quick arrival without getting lost, and the fold up map of Venice which they gave us made sight-seeing easy. Neat simple facilities (microwave, stove, kettle, fridge) made breakfast easy to prepare. Palace-like decorations in the rooms, curtains, paintings gave a very nice atmosphere.

Communication with the owner is great before you arrive but once you meet him, he is not welcoming and/or friendly. We stayed 3 nights. The 2nd night, someone stayed above us and you could hear every single footstep. It was so loud that the mirror and vanity were shaking against the walls which led to no sleep. The last night, there was no hot water and I could not find the night porter on duty. We were left to shower with cold water. Mind you, it was less than 50F outside. On top of that, Michele was very rude towards my family. Our sink was clogged when we got there and we had only used it to wash our hands. Michele said he would fix it right away but as we were conversing, he asked us to “speak English”. Are you kidding me? We are from the US where English is our first language. He had a very thick accent which is to be expected but he’s asking us to speak English? On top of that, when we checked out, I asked him.. “everything all good?” He replied “it’s a mess up there. Stuff all over the floor. It’s ok the maid will do her job”. We did not leave the apartment a mess by any means. Yes, the beds were not made but obviously they need to change the sheets for the next guests so I would assume it would be ok to leave the beds unmade... also, we asked for clean towels at one point and they didn’t have any even though they were not fully booked with guests. Also, I saw someone else write that Michele charged them 4€/day/pp for the city tax. It’s supposed to be 2.50€/day/pp.

Great Stay in Venice

Our apartment was on the canal side and was large, clean and beautifully decorated, The location is great... 5-10 minute walk to the Coop grocery store, train station, bus terminal, restaurants, tourist sites, etc. The apartment had a sofa bed, king bed, full bath and completely outfitted kitchen. Upon arrival Michele carried our bags upstairs for us and was very helpful with suggestions during our stay. At the end of our stay, we had an early morning flight and left at 4:00 am for the airport...the night porter carried our bags downstairs for us.

On check-in, Michele should show foreign guests how to use the television or add instructions to his information package.

Very nice place away from the maddening crowds

This is not a hotel. It is a palace that has been divided into rooms. All of our rooms were large--bedroom, bath and kitchen/living room. Since it is not a hotel there is no attended front desk, but Michele is available to assist when needed if you plan ahead. The kitchenette had an espresso maker so we bought coffee and fabulous pastries for our morning breakfast. It is not located near San Marco which to us is a big plus. Buy a pass for the ACTV vaporetto and you can go all over Venice - San Marco, Murano and Burano, etc. The nearest stop is Toma about a 5 minute walk.

This is a hidden gem, from the canal path it doesn't look inviting, however when you pass through the courtyard ( especially at night, as it gets lit by candle) you get a sense of the experience your going to have.
We booked a canal view room which was bright and airy. The apartment had everything we needed. Michele ( the owner / manager) is very friendly.
We would definitely recommend this for a city break as the location works really well.

nice hotel - ancient palace style

Good hotel, close to bus station and railway station. Clean room, spacious bedroom and living room with kitchenette. Spacious bathroom with modern features. There is only one problem - you cannot get breakfast in the hotel. Either you cook or go out to eat. The hotel is shared with another hotel where there is a breakfast area but it is not for Residence Palazzo Odini. That is the only drawback but other than that everything else is good.

Nice apartment - close to shops and restaurants. Easy to get to without too many bridge crossings while pulling suitcases. There are quite a few stairs to actually get to the apartment but it was manageable. Michele was very accommodating and allowed us to leave our luggage earlier than check in. I would stay again or recommend to others.

Spacious, great A/C, clean, perfect location to embark on sightseeing expeditions throughout the old city. Owner is very nice. Taxi/busses are 5 minutes away - this is very important especially if your flight is at 6 am.

Wanted to move in permanently

This one was worth coming back to review, worth gushing about. One of my favorite lodging experiences of many around the world. First, I had many communications with the owner, Michele, prior to arriving due to asking him questions and clarifying arrival time. He was welcoming, kind and professional. We were able to walk from the train station, taking about 10 minutes and with minimal stairs to maneuver. From the minute we rang the buzzer I was in love. We stayed in the exact room pictured and it was exactly as pictured. The windows opened out to the sizeable canal below and the room was enormous with a large, comfortable bed. The suite also included a living room area with another window, couch, TV and then an open, functional kitchen and full dining table with a full bath to the side. All the touches were just right. Michele continued to be kind and professional. The room included a helpful summary from Michele and his wife about the property, the area, and Venice. The area was less chaotic than San Marco, but not far from the vaporetto stops and interesting campos. I loved looking out every evening at the people below and seeing the woman across the street doing the same from her home! We would love to come back to Venice and if we can, we will stay in the exact same place.

Ok hotel

Too many steps to get into the lobby (44) no elevator. The apt was very nice big windows, great view. However, we all came home with bed bug bits, my granddaughter was covered with bits I also have some on my face, arms and legs.

Nice apartment in a good area.

The apartment is in a good area within walking distance to most sites and action around Venice. We had a few issues like an un attached toilet seat that you had to put in place on each visit. Also no shower just a tub with a hand held spray head which was different for us but got the job done. There is about 40 stairs to climb to get to the room which was fine for us but could be an issue for some. The master bed was wonderful along with the rest of the room. The windows looking over the cannel are beautiful..

Wonderful Palazzo next to a quiet canal

We loved staying at this Palazzo for 3 nights in June, and wished we had a longer stay. Venice was beautiful and unforgettable. The palazzo is ideally situated in the quiet part of Venice, but is close to everything. S. Lucia train station and bus station were about 15 minutes walk. There were many nice restaurants and bakeries nearby. Our one bedroom apartment facing courtyard was tastefully decorated and was spacious for 2 adults and one child. Bed was comfortable (even the sofa bed in the living room was all right for our daughter), air conditioning was cool and nice. Unlike other apartments we stayed, this apartment was cleaned daily and was kept very clean.

Host Michele was polite and kind. He waited for us, and helped us to carry some of our luggage up to our room.

We were happy to spend time in this lovely apartment for 3 nights. We will definitely return to visit and highly recommend this place to all our friends and relatives.

Great location!

Great location off the beaten path, yet within a 15 minute walk to the bus and train station. The hotel apartment rooms are decorated with beautiful Venetian antiques. This is not a full service hotel. Breakfast is not available, but their are several little restaurants in the area that serve breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a true Venetian vacation experience. .

We stayed for two nights and loved it. There's a bar near that plays live music which makes its way into open windows. It was wonderful. The place also has extremely high grade Windows so if you lock them there is no music for those that need some zzzzzs. Loved our experience.

V enjoyable stay, great location. Comfy bed and candles lit in courtyard, stairs and Windows -v romantic. No noise at night, v helpful owner. Slightly shabby kitchen and bath room but perfectly adequate. Overall a great place to stay.

Perfect for a weekend stay

The location of Palazzo Odoni 5 minutes' walk from Piazzalo Roma (the end of the road, from where Venice is pedestrianised and from where you can catch a vaporetto to anywhere) makes it ideal for a weekend stay. The decor is beautiful and the owner is both helpful and super friendly. We are a family of 2+1 and we had a great time.

Had a fantastic stay in Venice the rooms are really spacious and the manager was brilliant really helpful and lovely. The rooms are a little tired and could do with a bit of revamp but great location overlooking the canal. Overall a great stay.

Gorgeous Apartment!

This was an amazing apartment which was spacious and was along the canal.

Apartment was in a central location, close to the water bus as well as the train/bus station. You could easily walk to most landmarks and there were nice restaurants and casual eateries less than 500m away.

The courtyard is entered through a large locked door and we often saw other tourists looking through admiring how lovely it looked, which it was.

Staff was lovely and Michele the owner made sure he was present on our arrival. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect way to visit Venezia!

Perfect location for our family - easy walk from the train/bus and main ferry terminal, great non-touristy local bars and pizzeria, but best of all was the beautiful apartment and wonderful staff. Everything had been thought of and the rooms were warm and comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with local art. We will definitely stay there again and have shared this gem with our friends as well!

A Hidden Gem

The Residence Palazzo Odoni [RPO] is tucked away on a quiet canal just 5 minutes from the Piazzale Roma and 10 minutes from the rail station.In general terms the Dorsoduro area is quieter then others but is no less attractive and still accessible to the main tourist sights - if they're what you're seeking. We really felt that we had chosen the best of both worlds by selecting RPO. Plenty of good restaurants too in the area. The owner was there to meet us on arrival and the accommodation was well furnished with period furniture. Clearly there's been quite a lot of expense spent on bringing the RPO up to a very high standard. Just one small piece of advice and that is to inform you that RPO is self-catering so you either need to take some basics with you, or visit a local supermarket on your arrival, otherwise like me you will end up shopping for your breakfast on the 1st morning! That said it all added to the great experience. There are quite a few steps up to the apartments, but then there are lots of stairs everywhere in Venice, which really means that it's not very accessible to those with restricted mobility. Other than that it's a fabulous city and worth visiting & if you do then please consider Residence Palazzo Odoni.

Nice location, in a quieter area about a 20 minute walk to the main square. The room was spacious, with a queen bed in a separate room and a pull out sofa bed in the main room. The sofa bed wasn't comfortable but they usually aren't. The man who checked us in was very nice and carried our bags up the two flights of stairs. It was an overall nice stay, the only problem was we couldn't figure out how to get hot water running in the shower. We ran the water for a while, turned the knob in all directions but couldn't get hot water. It was very early in the morning and we were leaving for the airport so we didn't ask anyone, and it wasn't a big deal since we were flying home, but it would be something you should ask when you're taken to your room. Overall a nice stay for one night.

Terrific Hide-away

Located in a quiet area not too far from Piazza Roma but within easy walking distance to all the sights and great neighborhood eateries. Apt was large, comfortable, and period Venitian style- the refrigerator was a great bonus. Michele, the owner, was terrific! Friendly and helpful with lots of great suggestions & willing to help with tours and such. Great, fantastic stay!

Nice little hotel with great location

This little hotel is very nice and has an excellent location, you can walk from the train station and its in the middle of the venetian little alleys and channels, you can walk for dinner, coffee, store, etc.
The owner is friendly and is always trying to make sure things go well.
I would stay again.
We are a family of five so we had to use the sofa - bed and the matress of this one was not that good, this would be the only concern.

Granddaughter's Senior Trip

We were looking for a local Hotel close to the arriving Buses from the Venice mainland, and made the outstanding choice of the Residence Palazzo Odoni. We were warmly welcomed, and were impressed with the location, and the ornateness of the room.
We were given explicit directions to a fine local restaurant, as well as directions on how to see as much of Venice during our short stay. Many thanks to the great stay at the Odoni.

Family apartment on a quiet canal

Great location for our family of 5 - Had room on a canal. Less than 10 minutes to the market (BYO bag), bus terminal, and train station. Away from the crowds but close enough to walk to everything. LOTS of space for us and it was nice to have a small kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. Kitchen, large dining table and 3 couches (one made into a double bed) downstairs. Bathroom was upstairs with a bedroom. Stairs were a little noisy. Had windows open at night so mosquitos came in and ate us up but that would happen anywhere in Venice. No elevator and steep stairs to lobby but that was fine for us. We enjoyed our stay and would return again.
