The hotel offers direct access to the beach, just a few minutes’ walk away. I had a wonderful stay there—it’s quiet and much less crowded, which made it very relaxing. Waikiki Beach and the International Market Place are both within a comfortable 10–18 minute walk. The hotel service is excellent. Although the room safe was not working, it was a minor issue and didn’t affect my overall experience. I will choose this hotel in my next trip.

We had a fantastic stay at the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head. The front desk staff was outstanding—warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful both during check-in and throughout our visit. They gave us excellent recommendations for delicious local meals and great spots to explore nearby.

The hotel’s location is ideal—just steps from a beautiful beach. We loved that the hotel provided beach chairs and towels, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the ocean.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we tried to extend it, but the hotel was fully booked, so we’ll just have to come back next time. Looking forward to our next visit!

After being out to sea for over a year I always look forward to getting a hotel room to rewind and finally lay in a bed. But the first issue wrong was that the toilet was not flushing and nor did I receive the complimentary beverages that the front desk clerk had offered at the beginning of the stay. Later on, as I am talking to someone in a regular tone voice I get a call saying it is too loud. Which o understand the walls are extremely thin but I didn’t see a problem talking to family after all it’s been so long to talk to them. So after the complaint I continue to talk to my family in a lighter tone of voice but apparently that was not good enough and I received another call with the person over the phone saying if we get one more complaint the police will show up to my door. The person also suggested to take us to another floor where it was considered a living room with some games. But I was so confused because after paying so much money for a room I thought I’d be able to have my own privacy and space I was barely in my room and did not get to enjoy that peaceful time to myself at all. After arriving in the living room the front desk agent had suggested to not go back in the room until after sunrise…. I was thinking to myself am I even going to be able to sleep in the room I payed for? I feel like it was a wasted of money unfortunate I thought my experience in Hawaii would have gone better. Probably would’ve saved money going to a different hotel but I saw good reviews.

We had an amazing stay at the Lotus hotel! My husband and our two adult children stayed in the penthouse suite. The suite was spacious and beautifully decorated. The wrap-around balcony allowed us to enjoy the breathtaking views from all sides of the suite. The Diamond Head view from the master suite was EVERYTHING!!! The only downside was that their elevator doesn’t go all the way up to the penthouse. You have to get off on the 12th floor and walk up. My husband has mobility issues so the 10 or so stairs were very challenging for him and there was also no ramp to roll his scooter up. Aside from that, I highly recommend The Lotus at Diamond Head in Honolulu!!!😍

This was such a beautiful hotel! The room was incredible with the best Illy Espresso machine in the room. The bathrobe was so comfortable I bought one to take home. The restaurant located at the hotel was fabulous. I would definitely recommend eating there (The Alden). The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is in Diamond Head, which is off Waikiki, so you still are close enough to the shopping and fun things on the strip, but you aren't dealing with all of the noise and people. Access to beach is feet away.

Spotless room. All the decorations in the furnishings were top notch! Loved the in-room espresso maker, microwave, refrigerator. The hotel staff is just amazing in your professionalism helpfulness and courteousness. Not crazy about the TV setup in the room it was pretty old school in technology and channel selection. No Netflix or other streaming services available. No USB port on the television. Everything else about the hotel in the room was perfect though.

We live on O`ahu on the west side, and sometimes events/activities in town run late; the Lotus has become the go-to place for crashing in Honolulu when we also want to swim at Kaimana Beach first thing in the morning, or eat at Arden, or walk Kapiolani Park, and generally avoid the craziness of inner Waikiki. Easy place to return too. Aloha no!

An Oasis on Waikiki

Mine was an unexpected stay since I missed my flight to Guam and was a last minute booking. Desk staff was awesome and the hotel is a bit smaller than its peers near Diamond Head -- just what I wanted. Peaceful, welcoming and the view over the jade expanse was a bonus during my short stay. My only regret is that I didn't have time to surf...east coasters really cherish these waters!

I recently stayed at the Lotus Hotel at Diamond Head, and the experience didn’t meet expectations. Hidden amenity and parking fees added $270 to my three-day stay, which felt misleading. The hotel has only one elevator for multiple floors, making it inconvenient to come and go.

The room advertised a complimentary bottle of wine, but I received two cans of hard seltzer instead. Another “amenity” was a free glass of wine from the hotel’s restaurant, but the restaurant was understaffed. Despite two bartenders chatting at an empty bar, we were told to wait for a hostess. A couple ahead of us was told the same thing, and now we were all just standing there waiting. After 10 minutes, we left. It felt more like a hassle than a perk.

Borrowed beach chairs had broken straps, and the foot wash station was plagued with mosquitoes, making it unusable.

On the positive side, the front desk staff were kind, the room was clean, and the welcome oshibori was a nice touch. However, these small details didn’t make up for the extra fees and overall lack of value. The hotel has potential but needs serious attention to service culture, staffing, and transparency about charges.

Quiet location. Had to walk or Uber to excursion pick ups. Walking was about 25 to 20 minutes to get there so quite removed from weikei strip. Restaurant in hotel very limited menu and opening time so had to Uber or walk to all meals even breakfast. The mattress in hotel needed to be changed out. It is hard old and sagging my husband s back was feeling it. Very clean and attentive staff. Bathroom fan not working and still didn't work after they told us maintenance had worked on it. Nicely decorated but room smelled a bit musty. I went and bought air freshener which helped but lobby was lovely. If you want to be close to strip beach amenies of c restaurants and shops i wouldn't stay here but if you want to get away from business of strip and have quiet its fine.

Very disappointing hotel

I was disappointed by this hotel. It felt more like a 3 star hotel. The location is great - its away from the craziness of Waikiki but just a short walk through the beach park to get to all the restautants and shops. However, the hotel itself looks more rundown. The room was spacious and clean, but with views of a parking lot and a sliver of the ocean through buildings. No one assisted us upon arrival or checkout with our luggage. In fact, we ended up finding a cart that was sitting around and just loading it up oursleves. It took 20 minutes to checkout because the person at the desk was talking on the phone with a potential guest - apparently something that mattered more than the guests who are already staying there. This hotel was definitely not worth the cost of the stay, and I will not be returning.

I only stayed one night there, which I regret. My view from the 10th floor, corner unit had me speechless. Yoobi checked us in and made sure we were satisfied before resuming to his front desk. I love the boutique feel and it was budget friendly, as far as beach property goes in Hawaii.

My only draw back was the narrow parking spaces in front of the entrance. That was stressful for me. Otherwise, your experience will be golden.

Cons:
The hotel is old and has a smell. From the room on the 4th floor, the view of Diamond Head is almost nonexistent, with only a small glimpse of the ocean. Cigarette butts fall onto the balcony from above. They don’t inform guests about additional fees, such as paid parking ($40 per day) or the amenity fee (also $40 per day), so you’ll face an unpleasant surprise at checkout.

It was very frustrating that, according to my Expedia booking, the property was supposed to charge me only $235.90, but in reality, they charged $445.30. They explained that this was because I booked through Expedia instead of directly with them, and also that parking is paid (which was not mentioned anywhere), along with amenity fees and other unexpected charges.

The people working at the hotel were very friendly and available. They answered our questions and were available to loan us beach chairs, towels, good restaruants, and advice. The hotel was convenient for beaches, and places to eat. We were able to walk to both. The hotel gave us two free small gifts of snacks.

We were very disappointed. When checking in we were actually downgraded from the king bed room that had been arranged to a room with two double beds. The next day we were moved to a king bed room but were required to check out by noon and not allowed to check back in until 4;00 PM, so we did not have a room the afternoon of the second day even though we had paid for a six night continuous stay, very disruptive to our plans. The staff was quite unsympathetic. When we checked out we wished to discuss our disappointment with a manager who was not available and we never received a call or email from management despite a promise from front desk staff that \"Brandon\" would contact us.
The so called VIP upgrade was a bottle of wine and two glasses of juice.
The hotel is old and worn out. The room smelled like mold. Very few dining options in the area. Restaurant at the hotel is expensive and only open for dinner.
We recommend avoiding this tired, smelly, rude hotel.

The property is conveniently located to all of the dining in the shopping at Waikiki Beach. The room was spacious and Well appointed. The bedding and pillows were really comfortable. I only call was not being white on the beach as it made. It appear in the pictures. There are two buildings between the hotel and the ocean, so your view is limited. Also, you need to walk about 100 yards down a path to get to the beach.

We were pleasantly surprised how nice the room was. We basically had views from our front door to our balcony. The location is far enough from Waikīkī it’s not caught up in the crowds and close enough for us to walk to. This hotel does not have a pool, but with all the beaches around I don’t think we missed it.

We did have a rental car and that made getting around the island. If you want to just stay in Honolulu you can get by without a car.

Definitely will stay here again.

Recently stayed at the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head and was disappointed with my stay. Was really excited to stay near the beach but away from the crowds of Waikiki so if this also suits you, location is good. We also wanted to hike Diamond head so this location was perfect for this reason. The room was nice and rooms are clean. It is a boutique hotel and it has this vibe. Our first night an alarm/beeping kept going off in the hall it was extremely loud and kept us up all night. When I brought this up to the front staff it was barely acknowledge. Our main issue was one morning while in the bathroom the light fixture fell off the wall and almost hit one of us in the head (inches away). I understand that things happen but when I brought this up to the front desk they did not seem concern and just mentioned it would be fixed during the day. I spoke to another employee at reception later that day and they confirmed it was fixed, no big apology nor any small compensation or even a free drink was giving for the inconvenience. I found this very unprofessional for a 4 star hotel since safety of guests was involved. The hotel has good amenities but I find they are investing in aesthetic extras and not the core necessities of a hotel. I do want to mention that the restaurant and bar staff, service and food are all amazing. I find what is lacking is the service at reception that would usually be associated with a 3 or 4 star hotel.

The staff was excellent, especially Anne (at the front desk). She went out of her way to make our stay special. We enjoyed the bikes they had available and the beach chairs as well. As a welcome our first night we were given a bottle of wine. We had a wonderful time.
