The breakfast was already laid out buffet style. Would be nice to have freshly cooked fried eggs but what we had was good.
A vast array of breakfast to suit every need and not restricted to amounts.
Clean large room. Friendly helpful staff.
Because it was April visit no hot tub as the holiday season not yet in full swing.
Lovely old harbour but an evening walk to harbour restaurants.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Halepa Hotel. The moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel’s elegant neoclassical style, blending historical charm with modern comfort. The building itself is beautifully maintained, and the atmosphere inside feels warm, welcoming, and truly relaxing.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional—always ready to assist with a smile. From the reception team to the breakfast service, everyone went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety, and the rooftop terrace with the Jacuzzi was a highlight, offering a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring Chania.

The location is ideal: the hotel is in a quiet neighborhood but still close to the Old Town and the main attractions. Having secure parking was a big plus, especially since I rented a car directly through the hotel.

The car rental service was excellent—fast, easy, and stress-free. The vehicle was in perfect condition, fully insured, and came with unlimited mileage and 24-hour roadside assistance. Everything was clearly explained, with no hidden costs, which gave me real peace of mind. Having the car allowed me to explore the stunning beaches and villages of Crete at my own pace.

Overall, Halepa Hotel exceeded my expectations. The combination of a charming hotel, outstanding staff, and hassle-free car rental makes it the perfect choice for anyone visiting Chania. I would definitely stay here again and highly recom

Hot tub wasn’t in service-wouldn’t have booked here if I’d known that. It was the only reason I’d paid extra with so many more affordable hotels in the area. Sauna didn’t work- wouldn’t have booked here if I’d known that. Wasn’t given any information about massage treatments- I didn’t bother asking after finding out about the hot tub and sauna. Air conditioning in my room didn’t work- wouldn’t even turn on. It was fairly clean and quiet which is one positive and breakfast was ok. But considering the price compared to other hotels closer to town, I’d stay elsewhere next time.

The hotel is somewhat outside of the old town so it's not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. A bus does run outside but it's a bit unreliable.

We loved our stay at Halepa! What a gem. The rooftop garden and jacuzzi/pool were a lovely touch. There's a gym downstairs and a sauna. Also, the parking lot was perfect for us.

The staff were so kind and friendly and helpful.

My only complaint is the breakfast. NOT vegan-friendly. I emailed ahead of time requesting more options and they said there were many to choose from, but this was not the case. Fruit and a few veggies, olives and bread. That's about it. I would love to have seen more plant protein options like a tofu scramble or bean salad.

Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Very nice hotel and the usual helpful Greek staff. If hotel is busy, the small breakfast area gets crowded. Fine if weather good and you can eat outside, but it was over 40c when we visited and people were staying inside. Three close and decent restaurants, otherwise 20mins stroll into town. Easy walk. The local neighbourhood is nice with its own small harbour. Would choose gain if passing through Chania.

We stayed in the old portion of the hotel. It was amazing with 12-foot ornate ceilings and a separate bedroom and living room area. It used to be an embassy in the past, so is beautiful and grand. There is a new wing that may be more like regular hotel rooms, but if you can get into the old section, it is wonderful. Staff were very friendly and helpful as well.

The only complaint I have is the noise the ladies were making early in the morning 7:00am. Either moving furniture from the upper lever or standing at the end of the hallway talking and laughing and you could not sleep.

While we had the best room in the hotel (I would have been less happy in one of the other rooms), it was somehow uncomfortable. The rooftop was hot and sterile, the hot tub uninviting. A big negative was breakfast: No fresh orange juice (in Crete! All our other hotels had fresh orange juice) and I am not a fan of Nescafe; eggs were rubbery.

A beautiful location just outside of Chania Town

We spent a week at the Halepa Hotel while visit Crete for a wedding. The hotel is beautiful and well located, we great amenities and the most wonderful staff. The food and drinks we had in the hotel were fresh and well priced and it was lovely to be able to eat breakfast outside in the garden. We also loved the rooftop bar and lounge area with the jacuzzi/pool and wonderful views of the coast.

A very pleasant stay .

Very nice hotel with pleasant 1 kilometre walk to the Harbor area. A former British embassy building the hotel has a lot of character. Breakfast was very good and parking was gated and conveniently located at the rest of the building.

We had a fabulous time staying at the Halepa Hotel. The staff bent over backwards to ensure our every need was met. Every resturaunt recommendation was a winner. Great selection for breakfast to start the day. The location is great because it is not too close to the harbor that you lose the parking spaces but not to far that you can't walk to get down there and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommended.

I recently stayed at the Halepa Hotel for 3 nights. It is very conveniently situated a short, scenic walk from the historic town and harbour, as well as some fabulous restaurants (one has tables that could not be nearer to the sea unless you were in it!) even closer. The building is impressive, the communal rooms are attractive, the bedrooms comfortable with high quality bed linens and toiletries, the garden and roof top terrace both pleasant places to have breakfast or relax. However, like other reviewers, I would say that it was the very courteous, helpful and guest-focused approach of the staff that most stood out. Special praise must go to Χάρις, who worked the late/night shift, and who was particularly helpful. Unphased by a request for a cocktail he had not heard of, he immediately found a recipe, found the ingredients and produced two delicious Negronis every night, served with style!
A delightful hotel, excellent value for money and strongly recommended by someone who has high expectations!

Lovely hotel, Lovely friendly staff. A little bit of a walk to main shops & eating places so not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Very quiet rooftop lounge area with plunge pool. Only criticisms would be breakfast set up not ideal with guests kind of clambering over one another at the small buffet area & drinks a wee touch on the pricey side @ 15 euros for a gin & tonic & an amaretto (cheaper prices may encourage more nights in the hotel rather than going out. All in all we were very well looked after by the lovely friendly staff that couldn't do enough for us in our opinion. Would definitely return.

Overbooked - no room available depiste having paid

We had a 2 nights stay booked for 01/09. We were on a flight coming from the UK so we informed the hotel of our late arrival. Once at the airport we called the hotel again to tell them we would be here shortly; they answered that they were waiting for us and our room was ready. When we got to the hotel, we were then suddenly told the hotel was overbooked, that they had no room for us and we had to go to a different hotel!! The fact that we had already paid, it was 11pm, I was 5 months pregnant and we hadn't eaten didn't seem to even bother them - we barely got an apology!
Therefore - I would give it a miss!

Hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of seating and shade, to include the roof with a view of the water. The foyer, bar, and dining area are very well appointed and decorated. The room was comfortable, with a true queen sized bed, not two singles pushed together. The elevator was large, not one of the typical tiny European types. Breakfast was excellent, catering to both American and European tastes. Parking is behind the hotel and gated, though there's not much of it and I can see it filling up fast during busier times. There is also overflow parking behind the hotel outside the gate. Location is outside the busy downtown area, which means a little bit of a walk to get to the harbour but far less traffic and congestion. There are some restaurants within easy walking distance of the Halepa. The only thing negative I have to say about the hotel is that there are some things that need updating/replacing, such as the carpet. Otherwise, the stay was great and I would readily stay there again.

Originally the British embassy which shows from the grand frontage of the property. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. Towels changes daily, bedding every 3 days. Good air con which is a must. Staff are all friendly and helpful with any enquires you may have. Mobile phone in rooms with free calls to UK and great to use as a GPS when trying to find places out and about. Nice choice of breakfast items. Breakfast can be eaten in the lovely garden or on the roof top terrace. Roof terrace has sun beds, jacuzzi spa pool and great views. The only thing to be mindful of is that it's a good 20-25 minute walk into the centre of Chania. However taxis are cheap if required and the bus stop is opposite hotel if needed. Walk is good after the huge meals served at all the fabulous restaurants in town. Would stay here again and would recommend.

This hotel had all the basics, the only thing is they didn't have a safe in the room. If you do want a safe to store your passports or any other important items it's 2 euro a day and its stored in a safe behind reception. If you're going to go hike this. Samaria Gorge, I highly recommend that you book through the front desk because they were super helpful with that! They even had an early (6am) breakfast set up for us and packed lunches, snacks and water for us! Super friendly and helpful staff, I think the rooms need a little more of an upgrade as everything is quite dated. Other than that, the location was just fine, it's about a 15-20 minute walk in to the old port, but it's a gorgeous walk along the coast so no complaints!

BEST BARGAIN IN CHANIA

From the time that I first arrived (about four hours before check-in), the staff went out of their way to attend to my requests. The room was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect: just close enough to walk to the beach and center of town, yet distant enough to be \"away from all the noise and traffic\". The manager was friendly to my visitors and when my friends and I had coffee on the roof terrace, he treated us to a Greek liquor and dessert. When I needed to check out early to catch a 6:30 AM flight, not only was I given a wake up call as requested, BUT the manager set up a special breakfast spread at 5:00 am just for me. The price of the hotel was very reasonable and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to stay in eastern Crete.

The experience at Halepa for my family of 6 including a baby was excellent. The breakfast was a great deal. George, front desk staff, bar service, and everything was more than we expected. The \"shuttle Service from the airport is A++. We cannot say enough positive things about his gem near the City Center. We love you guys.

Lovely hotel in a great location

Lovely hotel in a great location, just 10 minutes walk from some good bars in a bay and far enough from the busy old port which was a further 5-10 minutes walk. There were also some nice local bars and restaurants 10 minutes walk going along the coast away from the old town too. There is a bus stop right opposite the hotel if you don't fancy that walk every day or a taxi is inexpensive. The hotel itself is smart, clean and everything we needed. The garden is a nice place to sit and relax and the roof top area is great, particularly having a decent sized plunge pool (note it isn't a swimming pool). All in all it was exactly what we wanted!

Enjoyed every moment of it! This hotel is an example how hospitality business should be ran. Everything was just perfect, especially wonderful and highly professional staff, quiet area close to city core and fantastic room with best A/C control I have ever seen in a hotel, and windows you can darken completely and sleep late into a day - this is a hotel for a vacation! Highly recommended and hope to visit again!

Charming hotel and charming staff who were very friendly and helpful.
We loved the opulent front view of the hotel which continued inside.
The standard room we had was comfortable and quiet at night. It was nice and clean too.
We were blessed with sunny weather in November so could sit outside in the front garden with our buffet breakfast.
There is gated parking around the rear of the hotel for hire cars.
The sun terrace on the top gave great views of Chania.
There is some gym equipment in the basement but we didn't get the time to try them out.
So overall a lovely place to stay.

We spent in this hotel two nights. It was as beautiful as on the pictures. Clean, classy, relaxing atmosphere, with mansion-like decor. Private secured parking at the back, comfortable beds, air conditioning. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is plentiful with lots of choices. We had our first breakfast in the garden, but you can also have it in the elegant dinning room or at the terrace on the roof.
On the departure day we had very early flight and the receptionist made sure that breakfast was ready 30 minutes before regular time.
This former British Embassy residence is located in quiet area of beautiful villas in gardens. Very close to Old Town (25 minutes walk). We would definitely recommend it for visiting Chania as well as for romantic getaway.
When walking to Chania do not forget to stop at Teverna Blue (Μπλε - Πρωί Μεσημέρι Βράδυ) (El. Venizelou 142,) were we had the best fish and seafood in Greece.

We had been on a walking holiday in the gorges on the south west coast and stayed here to relax on the way home. The building is beautiful and historical. It is in a nice part of town. Not far from the local beach.

Staff friendly and helpful, nice spacious room, comfy bed, uncomfortable pillows though and would have liked a kettle as no drinks making facility in room. breakfast ok but limited choice of hot food (eggs etc). Jacuzzi only works in evening and it was not warm. But I think it's a nice friendly hotel and good for city break. Easy bus transport to town or short walk.

Lovely hotel with amazing staff

Lovely building 5minutes from sea very quiet

Half hour walk from city centre in residential area but 5 minutes from sea front where there are bars and restaurants not the place to stay if you want hectic night life but if you want a 'Greek' experience then it is for you

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the center of Chania. You can walk to beaches, and the old port in about 25 minutes. The location is great, the hotel is beautiful and very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend hotel Halepa if you don't mind the short walks and want a cheaper option in Chania.

A decent place to stay. Quiet hotel in a residential area outside of the downtown core of Souda Bay. The room was nice. The TV was small, but functional. Staff was amazing and really helpful. They are what make this hotel a place to stay.

Former UK Embassy Re-Tasked to Boutique Hotel

Arrived from Athens. Had made arrangements through the staff in advance for Samaria Gorge excursion the next morning for half of our party of 6, and a rental car so the other half could go to the beach for the day and everything went smoothly. Just wish we had been able to stay longer !

5 Star Luxury on a Budget

We loved this hotel! It was beautiful and quiet and near to everything. If you don't want to walk there is a bus that passes in front every 15 minutes.
The breakfast was the best of our trip by far! The rooftop terrace has a small Jacuzzi pool and amazing views. One morning it rained for a bit and I took advantage of the fitness room. They have a sauna as well.
The staff was so helpful and spoke the best English that we encountered in Europe. (Especially Jamie, you are a rockstar!) The owner Antonio is a sweetheart.
We could not have asked for more.

Hotel with character and class.

The Halepa Hotel offers extremely good value for money. The hotel is well appointed and beautifully decorated. It is located 60m from the sea and on the main bus route into the town. The Old Town and the Port is within 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from the Halepa Hotel. This hotel is a real gem and the staff is most helpful and professional. All reception staff speak English and communication is never a problem.

costas and his staff looked after everything for us.the hotel was a pleasure to stay in.
far enough out of the main tourist area to be peacefull and quiet but close enough to be able to walk to the restaurants and tavernas around the old harbour area.
