Fantastic stay, friendly staff, nice vibe, beautiful hotel and neighborhood. The breakfast was simple, but delicious with yoghurt, fresh fruit, eggs and bacon or similar options, muffins and cheese. We highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back.

One of the most relaxing and memorable stays I’ve had in years. Swann House is every bit as charming as I remembered from 20 years ago. The owners are so warm and welcoming, and Christine, the Inn Keeper, is not only a gracious host but also a great cook—breakfast each morning was a real treat. The house is located in a lovely neighborhood, and just a short walk to Dupont Circle station, which made it easy to get around without needing a ride service. I’m so grateful we returned after all these years. I wholeheartedly recommend Swann House and look forward to coming back again.

Upon my arrival, I was given a tour of the B&B. It was beautifully decorated, and I noticed little touches that made it more special, such as snacks by the coffee/tea maker and access to sunscreen and pool toys at the pool. The included breakfast offered variety and was tasty. During my stay, I felt like I was in a home away from home. I hope to stay here again in the future.

What an absolutely fantastic place! The customer service is top-notch, with such empathetic and thoughtful staff that make you feel right at home. The environment is spotless and incredibly comfortable, and I absolutely love how they've incorporated air purifiers and humidifiers throughout! It's a breath of fresh air—literally!place. It’s just quiet and lovely and comfortable and oh my God the total shower experience with the whole bathroom was like Can-live-here One of the nicest places -!I only stayed the night, but I will stay again. If couks give up place live there - Yes I would.

What an amazing find ! Swann House is located in a safe and conveinent location. It was clean, staff could not have been more friendly & helpful. I loved the self serve ice water, coffee & tea service and breakfast. I am very picky about my coffee and it was great. The lobby area is inviting and after a very long walk on a hot & humid day we cooled off in the pool. So nice :)
I am in DC often and will absolutely be back.

Adorable inn with a focus on design and hospitality. Kaylin the innkeeper does everything in her power to make your stay special. The common spaces are stunning. We had the pool to ourselves and it was perfect for relaxing during the day. We stayed in room 4: beautiful space, nice wet room and deck.

Bring an eye mask if you’re sleeping in this room, early morning light comes in strong from a couple of smaller windows without blinds.

Clean, comfortable, and quiet -- Swann House, centrally located for our needs, was our oasis of rest in this busy city! The Turret Room (Room 2,) was perfect for our visit to DC. It’s small, but just right for travelers like us who needed a quiet room for rest and regeneration after spending the day visiting family and seeing the sights. The shower was fantastic! Leeann was very gracious and accommodating, and the extra pillows we requested for our stay were cloud soft and supportive. The complimentary continental breakfast was just right with a varied selection of grain and grain-free granolas, dry cereal, fresh fruit, delicious fresh baked goods, and hot coffee and teas. Refreshments were also available in the Common Area Coffee Nook 24/7, along with delightful Swann House short bread cookies for a snack. Swann House is across the street from the S Street dog park. If you enjoy the antics of dogs at play, this will provide all the entertainment you need from the comfort of your room (much better than anything on TV!). We look forward to staying at Swann House on our next trip to DC. I just hope we can get a reservation!

A beautiful building built in 1883 and a piece of history. It was a beautiful place to stay. A huge mansion. If you like that old vibe this is the place for you. We had a nice relaximg time. Our room had a terrace which was nice. The view from the terrace was not, but then again its in downtown DC. I booked the room called, The Shanghideaway, but was placed in The Jennifer Green room. Not the vibe I was looming for, but the terrace made up for it. During our exploration of the mansion, we found there is no such room. It was advertised falsly. Since we stayed during COVID, no staff were present, the kitchen was off limits and thats where the microwave was. Good thing it is next to many eateries. We paid for breakfast with our package and it was not worth it. In the small fridge in the room they placed, clementines (that were moldy), an orange, 2 orange juices, 6yogurts (out of date), and some kind of homemade bread that did not look right. We did not eat any of rhe breakfast there. Plus, there were two of us, any only 2 juices for two nights? We had to go out and buy breakfast anyway. Beeakfast should not be an option at this time as the buffet that is normally offered is not due to staff not being present. Over all we had a good stay as we were there for us and we got to spend a lot of time for us.

The Swann House is beautiful and i'm sure the actual home is an experience...I would make sure you are receiving a premium room for a premium price. we stayed in what looked to be the old servants quarters, recessed underneath the home. The bed was--rickety--room was clean but random and seemingly an afterthought. we booked last minute and the hotel was full so I believe this had something to do with it, but I would have stayed somewhere else for 400 dollars a night if I knew the only option was under the house.

Overall this is a quaint and cozy property. We loved our room and the beds were very comfortable. One area that I would suggest needs improvement is the breakfast. We showed up during the breakfast time frame but only half the time did anyone come and ask us about a hot breakfast. There are also many, many stairs!!! This is not the place for you if don’t want to or can’t climb mulitiply sets of stairs every day.

Sweet guesthouse in a nice location, walking distance to Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, and Logan Circle/14th street neighborhoods. Lots of great drinks and dining options nearby. A highlight was how friendly everyone who worked there was, and the tasty breakfast. I think most if not all rooms require maneuvering stairs if that is a concern for you. I stayed in the Parisienne suite, which was large and comfortable if a bit dark given that it's kind of an English basement setup. I travel to DC for business semi-regularly and would definitely try and stay here again.

This beautiful mansion is located in a terrific location. Love the dog park just across the street. The staff is fabulous and friendly. Breakfast was ok. Decent selection of breads, cereals, etc and a hot entree each morning. Very peaceful. The facilities themselves desperately need updating. The furniture is worn and sagging. Floors are chipped in areas. Mattresses and linens seriously need replacement. For what we paid, there are plenty of room and great restaurants within walking distance. I would have been very unhappy.if I had paid the “rack” rate.

A great change from the usual DC hotel experience. The inn was lovely and historic. The grounds had a lot of weeds and there was no table and chairs on the patio outside our room as pictured. A lot of pigeon droppings and debris outside our door which was never cleaned during our 3 night stay. We were moved to the basement Parisienne room due to cooling problems in Blue Sky. The bed was usable but did have a broken slat so that the mattress tipped down and it was obvious that vacuuming under the bed was never done. Despite these things we would stay again hopefully in other room. Breakfasts were lovely!

19th century villa with very unique taste

It is a 19th century villa, and this has some very good, and some bad issues. Good thing is that this is a maybe the best integration of old building with new amenities like jacuzzi bathtub and other modern things, I've seen. This is some kind of family run Inn, and you have something like a family atmosphere during your stay, some kind of retro classic in hotel industry, and this was very new and essentially good experience. Bad thing is that we came and our room Milano was not available, so we were moved in a basement room for a first night, they solved this very professionally, but this really shouldn't happen. Second thing is internet, rooms above the ground have very good internet, but basement rooms have internet from 1990 era, but this is a something that I don't know if there can be solved if you have building from 1883. Too many written warnings posted everywhere, I've never seen nothing like that, they even tells you which towel to use for makeup removal, where to put women products,etc. Unique stay, very friendly staff, but they need to solve this issues that casting shadow on overall impression.

The staff at this B and B were excellent. I booked the Serengeti suite and found it disappointing. It was in the basement with a musty moldy smell. The plumbing was off one sink had no running water and the shower came out in a stream. It had things stored in the room that obviously were just being stored for some other room in the hotel. Overall it gave the room an unused feel. One enters the suit via a side entrance and while behind a locked gate, people that were in the other room did not lock the gate so I felt a little unsafe and uncomfortable in the room. The main house looks much nicer and if I knew the suite was in the basement I would not have booked it. That should be mentioned on the Expedia website.

Room 126 was beautiful, perfect for our 4 year anniversary. Enjoyed internet, cable TV, whirl-tub, area with snacks, coffee & access to a refrigerator. Staff for Sunday morning was very accommodating & took me on a tour. Saturday staff offered a ride in the cold weather. Our check-out Monday morning was a little challenging. We had to find the hostess and we almost left with the key. She did not ask for the key and did not remind us that our pizza was in the refrigerator. Her husband was in the breakfast area and she was a little pre-occupied Monday on Martin Luther Kings birthday.

Beautiful mansion restored probably 20 years for a B&B. It is still a beautiful place but starting to show wear and tear. The Swann House needs to be freshened up. Interior repainting and carpets cleaned to start. Bathroom fixtures worn or broken and do not work properly. It is time for a 20 year update. Overall a bit tired relying on the rave reviews from a fresher time.

A beautiful B&B in DC!

The Swann House is a very lovely B&B, housed in an exceptionally well kept up house/mansion. It's just a little more than a 1/2 mile from the Dupont Circle Metro stop, so it's in a great spot as well. The staff was lovely; the breakfast very, very nice. We really liked the mid-afternoon sherry and treats, as well as easy access to a computer and printer. My only complaint is the size of the room we stayed in (and, to be fair, that I had chosen). It's really a very nice room, but suited for one person, not two. We'll try to return, but choose a different room, to be sure.

my romantic getaway

Me and my companion enjoyed our stay at the Swann House in the II Duomo room. The room itself in terms of decor and furniture was very dated. I understood each room had a theme, but in my opinion the furniture could used some reupholstering. The bathroom was weird and fun in terms of the art, and the shape,etc. however, the bathroom rug was very dingy and could have used a good shampoo. I refused to step on it with my bare feet. In terms of cleanliness, everything else was pretty clean.

My stars however goes to the service. Both women (I'm sorry their names fail me) were so friendly and warm, and accommodating. One afternoon me and my companion had leftovers from dinner the night before, and even though the microwave wasn't available to us, the staff warmed our food on their china, and served us our leftovers in the sun room. When we arrived we advised the staff that we had to leave early, the morning of our departure, so we would not be able to attend breakfast. They offered baked goods to be left out so we would have a breakfast to go, and she included tea bags that I was excited about the day before, and to boot,she left a nice thank you letter attached to our packaging.

Overall the house was nice even though I prefer more modern accommodations, but it's the customer service that gets me every time, and this case.. their service was 5 stars.

Excellent boutique hotel

Very much a boutique hotel with a warm, friendly feel. Bedroom had all the facilities and was spacious. Staff very welcoming and plenty of space in lounges to relax. If you want a busy hotel this isn't for you, but if you want warm, quiet and friendly then this is absolutely the place to be.
