Something that was said at the desk made me believe we were given one of the worst rooms due to booking with a third party. Tiny room divided bath with tiny shower with hard to use faucet that made it easy to burn yourself. Place felt and looked dusty. Loved the setting view and food service and most of the staff except grumpy manager.

In general, my wife and I were very pleased with our stay at the Yankee Clipper Inn. We had a lovely room in the Quarterdeck House with a fine view of the ocean through a large window. All the rooms in the inn seem to be different. Ours had no balcony, others did. We had an ocean view, others didn't. The air conditioning in our room worked very well, thankfully. One of the days we were there was beastly hot and the A/C was a life saver.The included breakfasts in the main building were very nice. There is one concern that should be addressed however. My wife and I are elderly but not handicapped. A handicapped person would have a very difficult time staying in the Quarterdeck House. To get to the house you must walk down what I thought was a rather steep set of stairs and then a steep pathway down to the entrance. The real problem was in order to get into the main part of the inn for breakfast, for example, you could not cross over the expansive lawn. There is another house not owned by the inn between the two buildings of the inn and you are not allowed to walk across that lawn. That means that to go to breakfast from the Quarterdeck house to the Yankee Clipper, you have to walk up a steep pathway and then up steep stone stairs, then walk along the road and then down a long steep driveway.It was tough enough for us; I don't know how a handicapped person could manage all that. That said, we still had a good time. My advice is choose your room carefully.

We truly enjoyed our stay at The Yankee Clipper Inn. We stayed in the Quarterdeck Inn that’s next to the larger Inn. Our room overlooked the ocean. It felt like we were on a cruise ship - it looked that close. The room was spacious with a really nice sitting area where you can view the ocean. The room was clean, comfortable with a small but updated bathroom.
The Inn was very quiet and well maintained. Parking is close but keep in mind you have a manage down a granite stairway to get to the Inn. Each morning we walked over to the Yankee Clipper for breakfast. The staff there were amazing. Super friendly, and can handle anything you need. Mike at the front desk (I assume is the owner or manager) Is great. The made to order breakfasts were delicious. The grounds are breathtaking - walkways, patios, cliffs, sunrise views - all beautiful. We loved every minute there.

The town has tons of shops, a couple beaches and many restaurants to check out. The city of Gloucester is just a few mins drive and worth the visit. Our stay at the Yankee Clipper about 2 weeks before Christmas was awesome. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean, only one thing, the room was on the 3rd floor, which was hard for me because I don’t do stairs well. Next time I’ll ask for the 2nd floor. I would definitely recommend going to Bearskin Neck during the holidays, there were horse drawn carriages, carollers and many little shops. We had a lot fun, will be coming back, for sure

Very nice property and location. It definitely had an old-school, quiet feel to it. I would've liked a small fridge and microwave in the room, instead of the one shared on the 2nd floor. Also, I didn't see, when booking, that there were stairs and no elevator. The staff were all very friendly.

My 64th Birthday stay. We arrived on Wednesday, I watched the Sunrise on Thursday morning- my Birthday. Breakfast, included in our stay, was wonderful! I decided to rest by the pool and enjoy the beauty of my surroundings. THEN the Lawn Guys arrived- weed whackers, blowers- SO LOUD!! I went back to my Room - the Smoke Detectors, ALL 3 were BEEPING!! NEXT, at 3pm- the Locksmith arrives! Drilling and BANGING the Front Door, steps away from my Room!! I mentioned this to the Manager, at Check Out, the next day. His response- Thursday's are Maintenance Days. OMG!! Thanks for the heads up! So much for my quiet, relaxing Birthday!! UGH

We paid for an ocean front property as advertised. We were very disappointed when we arrived we were told there are no rooms available on any of the ocean front properties and they nonchalantly put us in a very old run down house across the street right on the street with a dumpster view. The window blinds were broken or just fixed down so they were down all the time making the room even darker. I was so embarrassed as I had invited my friend and she even said the mattresses were so old and sagging and even the bed linens were very old. We did not take showers and checked out the next morning. I wish it was more transparent online. I don’t give negative reviews but I thought I would have liked to know about these before booking.

Also the room smelled musty. The coffee machine did not work and the old door locked us out of the room. This place needs serious updating.

Very disappointing trip here at the Yankee Clipper inn - Although we supposedly received an upgraded room - it was tiny with a foul odor with an even tinier bathroom.
The room was not that clean and the noise coming from the upstairs room all night was unbearable- the breakfast was good and our server Claire was lovely. The hotel was certainly not worth the $300 a night we paid for it - we would not return

The breakfast was super good. Great choice of freshly prepared hot options including a fresh fruit yogurt parfait.

Lovely room on 2nd floor overlooking the ocean and rocky coast. A spacious deck adjoins the room with table and chairs. Breakfasts are hot and cooked to order. There is a short drive to picturesque Rockport center with its great Shalin-Liu Performance center, art center, and harbor.

The Yankee Clipper Inn provided an excellent weekend away. The staff were friendly, kind and attentive. The inn was beautiful, spotlessly clean and comfortable. It's location is ideal. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Yankee Clipper Inn. The location is amazing. The building is full of charm. The breakfast is fantastic. And the hospitality by from the manager Mike can't be beat. We stayed across the street at the Bull Finch house and still had an amazing view. We walked to town (about 1.25 miles). You get beautiful views and close ups of some very nice homes. We will definitely go back.

We thought we were staying in the main house. Had no idea there are several smaller homes that are with the Yankees Clipper. We stayed in one of the other smaller houses. My husband is 6'5\" and barely fit in the bathroom. The breakfasts were exceptional though and everything was clean. It took care of our needs

The property is absolutely gorgeous, and the views from our room were breathtaking. The breakfast was yummy. We were in the additional house instead of the main house which was fine for us; however, if you had any type of walking constraints it would have been hard to get to due to 2 sets of outside stairs and then walking to the house in the morning for breakfast. Benefits though, you have your own outside entryway that faces the ocean. Each house has an ice machine and refrigerator. My only suggestions are: the room decor needs to be updated, need a full length mirror in the room, more towels and a shower rod that is curved so the curtain doesn't stick to you. Overall, a great stay!

A very nice fall getaway.
I picked this hotel for the view and I wasn't disappointed. It was spectacular. The manager Mike was so accommodating and gracious. The staff we encountered which was Patrick and Anthony, where beyond helpful. I can't say enough about this place. The location was perfect to drive to Salem and Gloucester. Every morning I would sit outside and enjoy the view and then would head over for a delicious breakfast. If you want an amazing place to stay, I would highly recommend the Yankee Clipper Inn.

25th anniversary vacation. Wanted to be secluded, however two trips to Boston were long days. Beautiful view from our room. Very comfortable to come back to. Breakfast was excellent. Walking distance to Rockport easy. Close to Gloucester for whale watching.

Charming ocean front inn! - loved it!
We booked a last minute room at this inn and had no idea what it would be like. When we arrived our key was ready and waiting for us which was refreshingly fast and easy. We parked right outside the door which was great. Inside, it’s very historical feeling. Very clean and quiet. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Our room was small but charming. The setting is beautiful, sitting right on a rocky edge of the ocean. Beautiful grounds with lots of places to sit outside overlooking the water. About a 20 minute walk to town. We loved our stay!
