Katherine
It was so clean and the staff were super helpful! My bed was so comfortable and the room was clean and perfect for my one night stay!
Heidi
Very nice stay.
jennifer
Great location!
Paul
Hotel 24 South is a good place to stay in Staunton and a short walk from the Woodrow Wilson Museum and birthplace. There are a number of restaurants a short walk away and more a short drive away. I slept comfortably in my room, and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small and a little difficult to maneuver in as a result. Breakfast was ordinary.
Wendy
This hotel is a nice place to stay. Close to downtown Staunton VA - Blackfriars Theatre, loads of resturants (local) and loads of stores (unique). Loved our stay.
Sharon K
Everything was fantastic and we loved how close to downtown and the train it was!

The hotel is well maintain and beautiful. The staff was super helpful as we arrived very early and had a cooler. They kept it inside and even froze our meats since we had to keep traveling the next day. We felt safe and happy.
The elevators are a bit tricky since they all go different places such as the garage but they are well labeled, you just got to READ the signs.
I had breakfast outside in their garden area and my only complain was the dog poop trash was so close to the table that has the best shade and view. I moved but it was not terrible. The hotel staff made the difference and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Absolutely lovely.

The location is wonderful, just steps away from the Black Friar's Theater, Mary Baldwin University, and several good restaurants and shops. Just as wonderful is the staff - everyone was welcoming and helpful. We also enjoyed breakfast at the hotel's Magnolia South Restaurant. Service couldn't have been better.
The hotel has been located in the heart of Staunton for decades. At the same time we felt enchanted by the architecure, we also noticed that the hotel needs some updates and TLC. However, we would be glad to visit again!

We have stayed at the hotel twice now and both times we have enjoyed the great hotel location in downtown, and the wonderful staff. The rooms are spacious and clean.
Kelsey
The hotel itself is beautiful and in a good location for walkability and downtown exploring. There were socks left in the hotel room from previous guests and a hair that didn’t belong to us on one of the towels in the bathroom. Other than that it was good was a good place to stay. Would recommend

The hotel was clean. The staff was super friendly. It was a great location with many walkable shops and restaurants. We traveled with our dog and it was a comfortable stay for all.
Dawn
One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in in a long time. Clean, comfortable, pretty.
The pillows weren’t great, wished I’d brought my own. Maybe could’ve asked for another one. But, overall, I’d definitely stay again!

This hotel should be considered a five star hotel. The rooms were very clean., spacious, and easy access from the parking garage. Yes, breakfast is available but not free. Buffet style $15 per person!!
Matthew
Nice place, but indoor pool was not very clean and had a bad smell. Brreakfast buffett was nice
Thomas
This is a very nice hotel in Staunton. The rooms are clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great also.
Samantha
This was an amazing find and so nice. Room was great, staff was fabulous. The pool was nice and heated. Close to a nice downtown area this good food.
John
The former Robert E. Lee in Staunton looks to have scaled back a bit--the old bar near the entrance was deserted when I was there--but it's still probably your best bet in Staunton: smack dab in the middle of its charming downtown, and right next door to the Blackfriar Theatre. Staff is helpful, and the rooms are just fine.
Zachary
The front desk staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. Our door would not open despite getting a green light and one of the women suggesting pulling up in the handle rather than down, which solved the door problem. The breakfast staff were also friendly and moved rapidly.
As for the breakfast buffet, we were pleased with the quality. The scrambled eggs had a great flavor, probably with butter, and the bacon was indeed crispy. The fruit was good with a nice bowl of blueberries to add to strained Greek yogurt.
The parking lot connected to the hotel is very dark. Several lights did not seem to be working or maybe they are in a timer for later in the day. The rooms were made up nicely. I recommend to housekeeping to inspect the grout in the showers since the humidity of the summer could cause a few specks of mold to develop quickly. The air conditioner is not noisy thankfully.
The Blackfriars Playhouse is beside the hotel. Just walk out and there you are. Shops and dining options begin one block away. This is our third time visiting Staunton but the first overnight visit and we enjoyed it much more this time.

We had a very nice stay. Our room was clean, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants. I would recommend staying here.
Kathryn
What a lovely historic hotel! My only suggestion would be to expand the bar and the ambiance in the bar area. The room was clean and lovely. I was able to walk everywhere, and the restaurants were small, quaint, and delicious.
Katie
Beautiful property and great little town for an overnight stay.
Edward
Great grand hotel, perfect place if you are going to the theater !
David

This hotel, originally named the Stonewall Jackson, is over 100 years old, but has aged reasonably well. The rooms are small by modern standards (at least those with ony 1 bed), but adequate. The updated bath in our room was very nice, with a better-than-average shower. A nice breakfast buffet is available for purchase, currently at a price of $15 per person, and restaurants for lunch and dinner are within easy walking distance, The hotel is attached to a municipal parking garage with a daily fee mid-week, but it's free on weekends. We did find the cost of the room to be far more than expected in this small Shenandoah Valley town ($264 with tax), but the desk clerk advised us that it's a typical summer tourist-season rate for the area. Overall, the hotel is fine and I'm glad we stayed there, but I probably wouldn't choose it for a return visit in the high season.
Margaret
Perfect for a weekend get away. Very convenient for riding the Virginia Scenic Railroad (1.5 block walk), American Shakespeare Center (next door), historic District (2 blocks), Woodrow Wilon library ( a little farther maybe 4-5 blocks?).
Kim
Nice location.
John
Great architecture building, friendly staff that let us check in early, quiet room.
Carol
A pleasant city hotel a short walk to Staunton’s Main Street.
- three charming blocks filled with restaurants; shops and other fascinating attractions. I had a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel and close to town.
Mark
Great breakfast buffet! Everything fresh and plentiful.

Excellent hotel, staff and the room, perfect.
Clean and comfortable, right in the heart of downtown making it easy for walking to the many excellent shops and restaurants.
This is our new overnight spot when we take the long drive north.
Parking is a breeze, easy and cheap.

Stayed one night with the dog. Nice, clean dog friendly hotel. Would stay again if passing through

Location!
Julia
Room was small but bathroom had large vanity with room to spread out toiletries. Glasses in the room and on the breakfast buffet were dirty. Should have skipped the mediocre breakfast and headed to Beverly street where many options in the open air were available. Coffee had no flavor.
Tracy
Beautiful clean hotel. Very helpful staff 😊
Rachel
Older historic building that needs a bit of sprucing up. But absolutely lovely staff, ample breakfast and convenient parking.
Lieven
Quaint historic property in a great location with friendly helpful staff, clean, well appointed rooms.
ERICA
Room was small but very clean and well designed. Location is wonderful, right next to the Blackfriars theater and the downtown restaurants and shops. $15 buffet breakfast wasn't spectacular, but the staff was very nice and replenished the dishes and pastries. A shame that parking isn't always free, but because it was a weekend, there was no charge in the garage. All in all, a great place to stay in Staunton.
Christopher
Overall, the hotel is good. Some rooms could use some updating. The pillows were very lumpy and the tile grout was crumbling. The rooms were clean. The lobby area and lounge were excellent. The location is excellent and within walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, and bars.
David and Susan
Lovely restored hotel in a great downtown location. Gracious staff. Big welcoming lobby. Convenient inexpensive next door parking. Spacious room and comfortable bed.
Would definitely stay there again.

Very elegant. Well located in a beautiful town.
David
This hotel was excellent. Bed was comfortable, the shower hot and staff great. The location is right in the middle of restaurants and shops in downtown Staunton. Parking garage is attached to hotel.
Marshall
Very nice property with pretty rooms. Dining area with big floor to ceiling windows also quite pleasant. Staff was friendly. Nice place to stay in Staunton! Right next door to Blackfriars Theater, an easy few paces to see a great show and around the corner from old town Staunton, with a lot of great restaurants and shops.
Ibolya
My room was large, clean, with nice sunset view, a large full bathroom with plenty of towels. The bed was comfortable. Sheets were OK. There was a nice size fridge in the room. The hotel is in the dining/shopping district, on the same block and sharing the parking garage with the visitors' center, and The American Shakespeare Center and The Blackfriars Playhouse. I cannot think of a better location in Staunton. The coffee in the lobby was remarkably good, well worth noting. Guests were nice. I highly recommend the hotel, I will definitely return.
Alan
The staff and the hotel was very nice. The only bad thing I have to say was my room smelled like cigarette smoke and I'm not sure why.
Miriam
Breakfast was outstanding. Room was clean
Gale
This is our go-to hotel when we travel back & forth. We love the charm of this hotel & enjoy walking to the nearby restaurants.
Steven
This is a beautiful 100 year-old hotel in downtown Staunton. My wife and I stayed one night to break up a long drive. I much prefer a historic, well-built hotel to a new one on the side of the road. The common spaces and room were nicely updated, clean, and well-maintained. It was quiet and comfortable. There is a $7.50 per day parking fee for indoor garage parking in the same building. We also had the breakfast buffet in the morning - it's an extra charge, but well worth it. I'd stay here again for sure.
Beth
Clean and comfortable; great location!
Jennifer
Hotel was nice, staff was friendly and professional. Room was small, but very clean. The parking structure was not well lite and made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
James
Hotel was good. We enjoyed our stay.

I never write reviews but I have to write one for this hotel. It was immaculately clean, staff was wonderful, and it’s in such a perfect area. I don’t know how else to explain it except that it had GREAT energy!
John A
Such a relaxing stay at a historic hotel! Right in the middle of all the action, but quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast as well ($15) as well as an indoor pool, lounge, and other historic features. We'll be back!
Ed
Favorite hotel in country. Great American town to walk around. Definitely coming back. I send friends and they love it.
Juliana
The price you pay for this hotel is not worth it. The pool has a yellow color to it because the bottom of it has not been maintained. It is rusty all over the pool. The Jacuzzi wasn’t working. Also the trash cans inside the room are so small fit for a Barbie doll. Lastly, I got woken up at 11 o’clock asking for checkout when clearly my reservation said 12 o’clock was checkout.
The front desk people were extremely nice, and the beds are extremely comfortable.

Pretty, clean, nice staff, good breakfast ($15 which I think is totally reasonable in this day and age), comfy rooms.

Great location downtown. Excellent service.
Harolyn
Staff, cleanliness, amenities, comfortable bed, good shower - all wonderful - and what we desired and received was the close location to the Black Friar Playhouse and \"downtown\" -just around the corner!
Deborah

Fantastic location in the heart of Staunton. We watched a play at the next door Shakespearean style theatre & ate the best ribs of our lives at the Mill Street Grill. Would happily stay here again.
Gale
Great time, as always! We'll be back!!
Joshua
It’s was ok, and average, but for the price we paid I expected a much nicer stay.
Jeanne
Tv outdated…no ability to stream. No charging capability for USB C…need to get with the times! Very busy weekend and elevators slow. Breakfast excellent.

Checking was smooth. Received a map of restaurants which was great. Parking was easy. Room had everything we needed!
Sandy
Hotel was lovely. Room was a standard room. However shower handle was very loose and would change the water temperature from warm to VERY hot.
Website advised there was a restaurant for dinner. When we went to make reservation we were told that stopped a long time ago. That was one of the reasons we picked this hotel.

We did not have breakfast or visit the bar during this stay but our room was clean and spacious and we enjoyed a good night’s rest. The staff is lovely as always.

Located in historic Staunton! Walkable with shops all around and wonderful restaurant Mill Tavern! Staff was so welcoming!!
Alan
Noise level from nearby rooms louder than similar properties.
The in-room refrigerator was a small stand-alone one, plugged into the corner.
No fan or fan switch in the bathroom.
Sub-par bathroom tissues.

We were somewhat disappointed w/ the size of the room. It was tiny. Also, given the price of the room, and especially compared to others in the area, the continental breakfast should have been free. The parking garage was not well lit. We did enjoy the easy, walkable access to shops and restaurants.
Edward M
Great. Breakfast great

Hotel 24 S., formally the Stonewall Jackson Hotel, in Staunton, Virginia never fails to satisfy.

Perfect location for enjoying the activities, shops, and restaurants of Staunton on foot and without needing a car. Friendly staff, very clean rooms. WE will return.

The 100 year old hotel is in very good shape. Our room was clean and quiet. The hotel is right at Staunton's downtown for shopping and dining. The hotel breakfast was okay, but not outstanding. The staff was courteous and helpful. The free parking garage was adjacent and easy to use.
Carol
Lovely historic hotel with a great location and all the amenities. Walking distances to so many restaurants, shops, the Shakespeare Theatre, and other attractions. Breakfast bar was delicious and had so many choices. Only downside was it was short staffed and there was a wait for a table.
debora
Always enjoy staying at 24 South. It is conveniently located in downtown Staunton and has a good breakfast buffet as well as being very near other excellent restaurants.
Julianne
Nice hotel. Convenient location easy to walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Free parking. Bathroom could use a fan and a door hook for towels and toiletry bags. We’ve stayed here 3 times Easter weekends when visiting our DD at JMU.
Susan and Albert
Hotel is within walking distance of everything and the hot breakfast buffet was very good.
