This hotel is in a very picturesque location, with a view to the mountains. It was converted from an old school and, thanks to that, has got some interesting features. We stayed in a Family Quadruple Room on the 1st floor (or 2nd floor, as it is referred to in Iceland).

There is no lift at the property, so be prepared to drag your bags across the staircase. The staff were very helpful in this regard.

We found the room clean and well presented. The \"room\" physically comprises of 2 separate bedrooms: one with a double bed and another with a single bed which can be extended to cater for 2 children. There was also an adjacent wc/bathroom, with a separate entrance.

There were several minor inconveniences. The smaller (children's) room can't be closed when the bed is extended. The wc/shower is rather small and without sufficient hangers/storage for one's clothes. Its doors are creaky and, given that the small room can't be closed, it led to the persons staying in the small room being woken up when someone was using the wc.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile when it came to after-dinner refreshment or local sightseeing tips. This hotel is on a convenient location for anyone travelling the Ring Road and looking for a base to stay for a few days while exploring the East fjords.

this hotel has very basic facility, bed room has no bed head and your head will touch the cold wall whe sleeping. no hot breakfast and very low quality, few variety of cold breakfast. When check-in, we are told breakfast time is from 7 to 10 am. so when we woke up early for breakfast of 7 am, we were told that breakfast started at 8am. one couple had to leave becasue 8am was late for them. we stayed for breakfast, the breakfast was the worst in Iceland I have. location is very remote and check-in ends at 8pm, etc. and relatively, price is too high based on its quality. Avoid it if possible

Eric at the reception was very friendly and helpful.
The jacuzzi and sauna are a good addition. It has a cost but worth it after long hours of driving.
I would recommend the place. Basic room, no tea or coffee in the room which would have been nice. There is a kettle though. Just plan ahead. Overall a good experience.

We stayed for one night in a cabin/chalet behind the hotel. The concierge was extremely helpful and polite, despite clearly being alone at work (it was a Sunday night). Check in from a reservation was smooth and convenient. There is not much to do in the area, so we had a couple of beers in the bar/restaurant area and went to bed. The chalet was clean and well-equipped for a longer stay, with appliances, tableware, towels, and a comfortable sleeping arrangement. I would highly recommend this option for singles or couples who want to explore the nearby area for a few days and have a cozy cabin to return to at night.

The good: Excellent service and friendly staff. The location is ideal if you're traveling the eastern fjords and need a place to stay along the way. Rooms are clean. Lots of electrical outlets.

The bad: I'm not necessarily rating it down for this but the building is antiquated. It has some charm to it but as a result, the rooms are bit tight, and the furniture is dated. Again, this shouldn't prevent anyone from considering staying there but just a warning for someone who wants a modern hotel.

The ugly: So this the only reason I can't give it a 5/5. The bathroom situation (or at least mine) is the shower isn't enclosed and shares the same floor as the rest of the room. Only thing separating it is a curtain. There's a drainage but for this type of bathroom to work effectively, the shower floor needs to be built at an angle to which the water naturally flows into it. The floor in this bathroom is flat so it ends up going everywhere. It's a first world problem, but ultimately you'll want to have slippers because the entire bathroom floor will stay wet until it has time to dry.

Very bad value for the money. The room was run down and looked worse than in the pictures but it was the condition of the bathroom that was the real problem there. A fixed shower like in a pool from the 70s, so dirty with limescale the water was barely dripping. It was impossible to take a shower. There were no nightstands by the bed, WiFi didn't work and there was a loud noise coming from adjacent loundry room. Beware, the restaurant menu item \"skyr with bluberries\" is a supermarket blueberry flavoured skyr covered with milk. For 2k... The rest of the dinner was tasty. Breakfast was basic. It seems to be a place ran by a family trying to make a living, so I didn't want to make a fuss but I definitely felt taken advantage of and I wouldn't stay there again.

We picked this hotel as it was on route for our ring road tour. The hotel is an old concrete school converted into rooms with two wooden cabins in the grounds. The location is stunning and the small village is only 10 minutes drive away. I’d tried to e mail before arrival but never got a reply but on arrive it seems the staff are Spanish with no English spoken which probably explains the lack of response. The dining room was closed as the windows were being repaired but we found great pizza in the local cafe. Breakfast wasn’t included in our stay and the language barrier meant we didn’t find out if it was available and the price. The cabin was fine and warm the bathroom was as you’d expect tiny and needed a climb over the toilet to enter the shower. Friendly staff but the lack of communication let the stay down slightly. Handy if you are on the highway 1 route.

Even though the property was listed as \"handicap accessible\" on Expedia, it was NOT at all accessible. There isn't even a handrail on the front steps. The porch railings on the chalets are totally unstable. Overall, quite unsafe for able-bodied travelers, almost impossible for handicapped folks.

We stayed in one of the cabins available which meant we had a kitchen we could use. The cabin is behind the main building which was ok since you could go through the bar to get into the main hotel. The beds are narrow and the shower cubicle is a bit tight to get into but for a night or two, it was perfectly acceptable.

The hotel is clean, tidy, and quite comfortable. The building was previously a school so, not being purpose-built, some of the rooms - particularly the bathrooms were very small, but functional.

We had a little “chalet”- a small cabin. It has a kitchenette, private bath and a little deck. We will eat in their restaurant so do not need the kitchenette and since it’s raining the deck/porch is out. The kitchenette has a kettle, hot plate, microwave, toaster, a half sized refrigerator, two frying pans, one pot and two each of plates, bowls, cups and glasses.
The refrigerator is noisy and since we had nothing in it I unplugged it.
The shower is fine. It’s a small enclosed stall so no water leaks out onto the bathroom floor. The conditioning shampoo/body wash dispenser is mounted outside of the stall so you wet yourself, turn the water off and open the door to soap up.
For dinner we ate in the Hotel Stadarborg’s restaurant. They have a limited menu with a choice of one soup and three main courses- lamb, fish and chicken. We had the fish which was good. It is actually two fish stacked with cod on the bottom and plaice on top. It comes with some salad and a half of a baked potato (I would have liked a whole potato). There is one wine by the glass and many bottle choices. They have a good local beer on tap as well as national brands.
The waiter (from Honduras) was friendly and efficient. He speaks perfect accentless American English.
A good breakfast is served from 8:00-10:00.

Nice place to spend a night on the ring road.

This Hotel is a pretty isolated adapted house, about 5km to the next village. It is situated in a lovely valley with nice views. So you might end up eating there if like us you don't feel like driving around to find a place. No problem as it has a restaurant with really great food (pricey as per Iceland).

The room was pretty basic setup. We got a \"family room\" which actually had the kids room separated from the other one. This was nice as it gave some privacy and extra room space. The bathroom was tiny.
Rooms I think were all (or mostly) on the second floor. Which might be an issue for someone with accessibility concerns.

The big plus for us at this hotel was the staff which was very friendly and nice. It is \"family run\" and you can tell that they care.

Overall this is a nice place to spend a night on the ring road.
