Absolutely gorgeous place to stay. We both loved it. Beautiful room, beautiful scenery, great shower, huge bed. Views in an upper room with private balcony across the mountains. Staff are amazing, Rain was incredibly helpful. Our breakfast was included. Dinner is also available from menu choices at extra (very reasonable fee), good food in a lovely onsite restaurant overlooking the infinity swimming pool. Free car transfers back and forth to the west gate of Zhangjiajie National Park. Set up WeChat so you can text them and they come immediately to pick you up. This is for west gate park entrance only/free car. Other car services at a fee. Airport pick up was CNY200, it’s an hour away. Can’t recommend this place enough, much more fun than staying in a big westernised hotel. We stayed 4 nights. Absolutely fantastic experience!

The most perfect hotel ever. So gorgeous, with an infinity pool, teahouse and amazing restaurant - the hotel is so helpful to get you to the national park. Only issue is that it is quite far from certain areas, however if you're looking for a peaceful retreat and want to visit the Avatar Mountains, this is the place to stay.

Keep it’s tiered, the cold pool didn’t look usable and no comfy loungers. I would stay again apart from for the food. None of it was good and due to the remote nature of the property that is what you are stuck with. So property in nature lovely, food awful.

The reception greeted us upon check in with tea, and immediately preordered dinner for us(which was delicious). The staff’s level of care and attention was wonderful. They helped us arrange a perfect day in the national park. Breakfast was fresh and varied from local congee to traditional western breakfast staples. The rooms and property are gorgeous and seamlessly intwined in the mountainside. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place to catch your breath. The views of the valley are magical.

We spent 4 nights at No.5 at the end of April and it exceeded expectations in every possible way.

There are no amount of pictures available to do this property justice and the service was impeccable, Rain and his team did an amazing job of making our stay feel Bespoke and Personal.

We were upgraded to a tree house on our arrival, which was luxurious, spacious and had unimaginably good views, however from what we could see around the property, ALL of the rooms looked fantastic.

If you stay here, I would reccomend a couple of hours one evening relaxing in the tea room, we had a special night playing music and learning about the various teas grown local to the property.

If I was going to reccomend any improvement (and I am clutching at straws to find one), it would be nice to see a few different options on the menu, or an alternating menu, as if you stay at the lodge, there is a 90% chance you are going to be eating there nightly.
We will absolutely be returning to this hotel, and we will be reccomending it to any of our friends visiting the area.

We had the best time at No.5 Valley. The rooms were amazing, the ladies at breakfast/dinner room were the sweetest. I'm vegetarian and they made me a yummy noodle dish. Rain went over and beyond for us, got us the National park tickets, sorted out transport, drew us a route and it meant we avoided queues. I cannot recommend them enough. Olivia was also great and helped us throughout and kept in touch via Wechat. Mango our driver.... bless him stayed till we were done late at Tianmen mountain as we wanted to see the lights. My favourite...Max the dog....it was an emotional goodbye because he is the goodest boy. If in Zhangjiajie - you HAVE to stay here!!!

No. 5 Valley Lodge was one of the most memorable places I stayed in China. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, tucked into the mountains with a very calm, nature-focused atmosphere. It feels much more special than a normal hotel because the whole property has a sense of place — quiet paths, greenery, mountain views, and a slower rhythm that makes it feel like a real escape.

The staff were also extremely kind and thoughtful. One of the highlights was the tea experience: the tea master was generous, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel personal rather than touristy. She even prepared calligraphy pieces and shared tea with genuine care, which made the stay feel much more meaningful.

All staffs are very friendly and helpful from checkin staff Xiao Wu, hotel manager, restaurant staffs & all the drivers.

Xiao Wu very patiently went through the tour routes based on how much time we have with a lovely hand-drawn cute map.

We had a lovely stay despite the unexpected road works. But hotel had proactively arranged the pickup at road work section to provide us a worry free experience.

We are very lucky to have a free upgrade to a lovely 270 degree Mountain View lodge, No 11 Jian Shan. We loved it. It is so spacious with a stunning mountain view and a perfect spot to watch Sunset.

Hotel location is very conveniently close to West Gate of Zhangjiajie National Park, the quietest gate of all five gates. It is perfect for me as I am not great with long queues and walking along big tour groups.

Overall, I would highlight recommend No 5 Vally Lodge.

No.5 Valley Lodge was the absolute highlight of our honeymoon. My wife and I stayed here during our visit to Zhangjiajie, and nothing else came close. You wake up surrounded by mountains and rice fields — literally inside the national park. Breathtaking and unforgettable.
This isn’t a luxury hotel — it’s a mountain lodge, and that’s its charm. Rustic, big, built entirely out of wood. The staff are the heart of this place. Shoutout to Frankie for making us feel at home, and to the Tea Master for her warmth, incredible tea ceremonies, and gifts we’ll treasure forever. Luggage help was always there without asking — service here puts many luxury hotels to shame.
For our honeymoon, the staff decorated our entire room with balloons and messages — one of the most thoughtful gestures of our trip. Breakfast was fantastic, served right next to our room. The hotel also provides free transport to the Avatar Mountains, which are incredibly close.
Things to know: the wooden construction means sound travels between rooms. The lodge is remote — the city, Grand Canyon, and other attractions require a ride, and hotel transport is pricey (we used DiDi). But we came wanting a deep nature experience, and that’s exactly what we got.
Not for everyone, but for us it was perfection. The best stay of our honeymoon, no question.

The lodge is in the middle of mountain, there is no restaurants, no social activities nearby. The lodge offers free breakfast, but you will have to pay double or triple the price for lunch and dinner if you want to eat inside lodge. The room is exactly same as old village type in China. If you are looking for a quiet place, this could suit you well. Otherwise think twice before booking. Lodge staffs are very nice and helpful.

Lovely and homely stay at the lodge. We were pleasantly upgraded to a cabin room which we loved. Rain was extremely welcoming and helped us with all our luggage and even brought out a heater to our room as soon as we asked.

Great communication, amazing location for the Zhangjaijei mountains, and Rain even dropped us and picked us up.

There is a tea master as well who makes home made teas and some cute pets. Truly feels like a lovely family run cosy home.

Would definitely recommend!

Unreal stay — a hidden gem in Zhangjiajie!

We had an amazing two-night stay at No.5 Valley Lodge, and Frankie and the team went above and beyond to look after us. They arranged our airport and train station transfers seamlessly, and the complimentary shuttle to the national park entrance was super convenient.

Dinner each night was lovely — simple but tasty — and the lodge itself has an incredible ambience: peaceful, natural, and slightly rustic in the best way. Our room was absolutely sublime, spacious, and beautifully designed. The Wi-Fi was a little slow, but honestly, that only added to the charm — it’s the perfect place to disconnect and unwind.

Frankie speaks excellent English, which made communication effortless. He even helped us plan our route through Zhangjiajie National Park and came to the rescue when we got lost!

It’s not close to the city, but that’s part of what makes it so special — you’re surrounded by nature and tranquility. Highly recommend staying here before the area gets overrun by Western tourists. A truly unforgettable experience!

I recently just went on a big China trip and visited the beautiful Zhangjiajie region. Staying at No. 5 Valley was an incredible experience. The host Frankie was super helpful and hospitable. The property is in a very scenic, remote area. Around 1 hour from Zhangjiajie Train Station.

The food options were vast and very accommodative and the resort. Had several activities going on throughout the day. Arts and crafts, tea ceremonies and much more.

I really enjoyed my stay and I'm looking forward to coming back. This is an excellent place to stay and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great place to stay in Zhangjiajie.

Accessibility to the Zhangjiajie park is about 10 mins away and about 1 hour from the Tianmenshan park. The hotel provides transportation for anywhere you need to go in Zhangjiajie.

Highly recommend for anyone looking to have an amazing experience at a beautiful stay in Zhangjiajie

It was a very memorable stay for our family here. The view was exceptional. The best part about our stay is having Frankie coordinate everything for us from pick up at train station, dinning, tickets to Zhangjaijei National park to the ins and outs of the area. You can bake your own cookies and we had the best tea experience I have gone to tea houses in Japan and this lady , her tea which she makes herself is one of the best teas I ever tried. Our 5-night stay at No.5 Valley Resort in mid-March 2025 was truly remarkable, thanks in large part to the exceptional hospitality and personalized service provided by the entire staff, especially the Manager, Rain, & tea master, Yang Mei.
From the moment we arrived, Rain ensured our stay was seamless & enjoyable, demonstrating a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. He went above & beyond to provide us with all the information we needed to explore the Wulingyuan National Park, even helping us purchase tickets & offering insider tips to make our visit truly memorable.
The beautiful & elegant Yang Mei made our experience even more special, treating my husband & me like old friends. Her calligraphy lessons were both engaging & inspiring, while her vast knowledge of tea allowed us to appreciate the delicate flavors and nuances of each variety she prepared for us. We will always cherish the thoughtful gifts she bestowed upon us.
After 2 days of exploring the stunning landscapes of Wulingyuan National Park, we were able to unwind and rejuvenate at the resort for the remainder of our stay. The serene atmosphere and picturesque surroundings allowed us to connect with nature, breathe in the fresh air, and truly relax.

Beautiful property and amazing hospitality. We were only here for 2 nights but felt right at home. Frankie took care of everything even before we arrived to Zhangjiajie and arranged for our entire trip from start to finish, including daily transport in and out of the park, and our wonderful dinner one of the nights. We even sang karaoke on our last night. Its a lot of fun! I highly recommend if anyone is considering. The west entrance is also quiet and away from the crowds for a quiet retreat.

We had a wonderful time at No. 5 from beginning to end. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and modern whilst being right in nature. We were very well looked after by the staff especially Frankie who went above and beyond every day even helping us organise trips and buy tickets and driving us to the entrance of the national park. He was even on hand over Alipay chat to answer questions we had whilst on day trips. Frankie’s dog was also very sweet and warmly greeted us whenever she saw us :) Yama served us wonderful tea and was fascinating to speak to. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place. The surrounding area is amazing and we so enjoyed the national park, ancient town and “Grand Canyon”.

It was amazing and beyond what you see in photos. From the time of arrival, we were greeted warmly and professionally by Frank. The comfort of the room, the delicious meals, serene and beautiful setting made it a comfortable retreat after long days in the National park. We were pleasantly surprised by the tea master who is often available to serve up a variety of teas. It was delicious and educational. You are better off with car as it is some distance from town and the main park entrance, but it’s worth it to stay away from the crowds. I’d stay there again!

We had a great stay at the No. 5 Valley Lodge! The staff are very accommodating and welcoming. The hotel is located very close to the West Entrance of the park and offers rides to the entrance on days you wish to explore. On our day at the resort, there were fun activities organized by the hotel, a beautiful pool overlooking the valley, and rice fields you could walk along! If we ever return to Zhangjiajie, we will be sure to return!

The hotel is far from downtown (if you want to go to other destinations) but very close to Zhangjiajie NP. Highly recommend this place and we would absolutely book again if we come back.

We had a fantastic stay at No.5 Valley Lodge. The accommodation was fabulous, great infinity swimming pool with Mountain Views, hotel restaurant serves authentic delicious dishes.

The receptionist was extremely helpful :)
He contacted my via WeChat ahead of the trip to help arrange a pick up from the airport. He also arranged 2 days of tours for us with driver and guide. This was all last minute ! Thank you again, we will recommend this hotel to friends and family. Zhangjiajie is one of the most impressive scenery in China. Must visit !

The resort is in a beautiful, natural location with easy access to the National Park and great views across the valley. The staff are super attentive and at least two speak very good English if needed - Rain in particular was extremely helpful. We really enjoyed the food in the Chinese restaurant (less so in the Western one) and the infinity pool is a great spot to relax if you want to give your legs a rest from hiking. The rooms are a generous size and well maintained. Overall a really enjoyable stay but maybe just a little overpriced.

The perfect green scenery for a nature refill

Our experience was awesome! we took a small honeymoon without kids and was a lovely stay. The hotel is really clean, the rooms were in excellent conditions. All really clean, the bed was perfect, the TV with great movies selection.
Not to mention the overall place that was amazing, so much nature around us.
Also the hospitality of all the people was lovely, Rain help us with everything, very nice, friendly and very helpful.
The food was delicious and home made.
We are looking forward to go back with our children there to enjoy that warm infinity pool over the mountains.

This place was a dream. I’ve never had such a good experience at a place. Johnathon was SO helpful every step of the way, everyone was so kind and the food was phenomenal, the lady who cooks the food in incredible. The place is expensive but if you’re on the fence, do it. This place goes above and beyond. I chose a room with the bathtub on the balcony, and the ONLY problem I had with the whole stay is that the bathtub was too perfect and I didn’t want to get out. I had to force myself to get out and go see the sights.
