It was an okay place to stay for a few nights. Most people working here are really nice and helpful. Beds were quite hard and the bedding is not especially comfortable. We moved rooms because they were doing renovations including the roof and pool and it was loud. I would recommend a garden view because it is pretty, and more quiet than the pool and road facing rooms. Food was fine if you’re not picky. They play old music videos for entertainment at the one restaurant, but there is some live music in the lobby later on. Great location if you want to explore, with easy access to the marina, and there is a nearby path to walk and check out the town. The beach at the club is a quick walk if you don’t want to wait for the shuttle. The beach is not very swimmable and the pool is busy and not very relaxing. Overall we found it good value due to the location and people.

The rooms were clean and decent with fantastic air conditioning. I wish I had known that there was no fridge or coffee maker in the room.

Buffet 7-11 am at the resort and then 7pm for supper. Near the end of our stay, we found we could order a snack in between this time.

There was a shuttle to the beach club starting at 9:30 am but there were no drinks served until 11:00 and no food until 1:00. It would’ve been nice to know these things ahead of time.

This was our 6th year at Hotel Castillo. Unfortunately this year was the worst...major renovations all over the hotel with loud, construction noise throughout the day. The dinning room was closed for few days and meals were served in conference hall...not very pleasing while on vacation. On our last day you could hardly talk during the breakfast due to the hammer noise. They were also doing pool repairs while guests were swimming and eventually the closed the kids area of the pool completely. Similar situation at the Beach Club...plus, major construction on the property next to the Castillo Beach Club. The other issue was the closure of the beach due to a larger wedding with almost 100+ guests. The noise again was unacceptable when one is trying relax on vacation. Horrible!!!

Over all decent. My review is very limited as I never used the beach club, and only used the restaurant for 3 breakfast meals. I used Castillo as a hub. There are way too many other options for meals, beaches, etc. to go to. The staff was nice. My room was clean. They need to change the carpet in the elevators because they are full of mould. Just climb the stairs and all is good.

Our room was quiet, clean and had a view of the garden area, a small balcony was included.
The staff were the best part of our stay they were always smiling and happy to help from Anna at the front desk to our favourite cleaners, shuttle drivers, servers as well as the concierge. All of our inquiries were answered and any issues were immediately taken care of.
The food was okay, we did not go hungry.
The beach club was a nice bonus however, located on a beautiful beach swimming in the ocean was risky most days but the view was incredible including seeing whales some days. The pool was clean and relaxing and the hotel shuttle was a big bonus.
The hotel location is great, walk to Santa Cruise beach or shops or a quick trip in a taxi to La Cruceta for more restaurants and shops.
Don’t forget to tip the staff. At times it was difficult to get smaller bills from the front desk, we were more successful asking the servers to make change.

A perfect family resort, though we realized we are probably not resort travelers. All inclusive means buffet food, which is as good as can be implied and unlimited beverages, though i doubt there was ever much alcohol in any of the drinks. But thats individual taste. Our only real issue was, even though we had booked months in advance, we were given the worst room in the hotel, at the farthest end of the hall, on the ground floor and sticking up against the main street, complete with party buses going by until midnight. When we asked to change, we were told they were sold out, but in the morning we could see. The next morning we were told, yes they could move us to a garden or pool view. But we would have to pack, move out and leave our bags until 4p with no room until then. At 4p we returned. This time they gave us a room over looking the parking lot courtyard and where the main exhaust fans for the kitchen and AC system blated away. After complaining again, we were finally given a room with 2 double beds, we had booked a queen, overlooking the back garden. At lot of effort to finally get an ok room. Other than all that, it was clean, the beach club was nice and we enjoyed ourselves.

I found the hotel and street noise quite bad till midnight, the waitressesreally didnt speak much English, it was often challenging to get what we ordered for breakfast even with ggogle translate. This traditional Mexican style hotel, is located in a great Santa Cruz location. The beach, marina, tour operators, restaurants, vendors, convenience stores, etc, are just across the street. The city bus also runs right past the hotel, which is convenient, if you plan to explore centro Huatulco. Additional restaurants and the ever popular Chedraui grocery store, is a 12-15 min walk away. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful. As a bonus, all guests have access to the hotel’s beach club at Playa Chahue. A dedicated shuttle service, operates every day from 9:30am - 6pm.

Two negative aspects of this location are, the traffic noise if your room faces the street, and the very poor wifi service on the hotel property.

Spent 2 great nights in this hotel, would consider 3 but they were sold out - I understand why - very good spot and very cordial people and value service, all across the board. Supburb beach club, super good friendly staff, Frederico beach club driver soooooo like a family (we miss this place because of him also), very professional and observant staff at the beach club (I dropped my bag and they found me at my lunch table to bring it back to me), can’t say enough about wonderful people that make this place grand. Food was also really good, way better than expected. Happy to spend our time here and would recommend to consider at least 2-3 night if you are exploring the area and are on a go. Very good value, too. We are leaving this place with a great warm feeling and longing for more one day.

This hotel had great service, especially Ricardo, and the food was very tasty. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only reason I would not stay here again is the facilities. It was very busy and the pool is very small. The beach that you are bussed to is beautiful but there is very few places that have shade and the beach is flagged as a red flag and unswimable. The amenities for us just didn’t work well but if you are looking for a clean, safe place with tasty food and not the amenities then this is your place.

We booked this hotel same day , we arrived it was okay , there was a strong smell similar to car oil at our room from the AC . The furniture was run down and the balcony too. They have live music in the lobby every night , I was not aware of this till we heard it. So definitely not a place to relax.

We stayed here because it was close to my sister’s condo. The hotel is older but very sweet looking from the street. The pool was always used but we sir not try the restaurant. The halls and rooms are plain and basic and show their age. Some bright Mexican paint would help the visual impact. The beds were comfortable.
The staff was always so accommodating. The location to the terminal for shopping is great.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Castillo Huatulco! It was our first time in Huatulco and wasn't sure what to expect, with a beach club and shuttle, but it was great. Also we asked for an upgrade with our room and Alejandro at the front desk was so great. All the staff are so friendly and professional. Big shout out to the team at the Beach Club especially Roody, Cyralini and Roal. If you are used to big 5 star resorts and the mile long buffets, you will not find that here, however the food is really good at the Beach Club. Good variety of dishes and can't go wrong with breakfast. We liked all the different Mexican dishes. As for dinner, we always went out into town where there are an abundance of great restaurants. We love Santa Cruz and will definitely be back.

Feb, 2024. Having stayed for 4 weeks, I'd say we have a worthy opinion. We knew this was a 3 1/2 (ish) star hotel but the food every night was terrific. There is lots of variety; you'll definitely find something for your appetite. The booze probably isn't top end but there was plenty of different drinks and the bartenders were fun personnel. We were in the hotel's newer area and our wifi and hot water were fine. Our balcony could fit two chairs and our safe was large and easy to operate. There's maybe two English tv stations but that was of little concern to us. The grounds, halls, food areas, lobby and pool were cleaned continually. The staff was very cordial and helpful. We had two issues (a noisy neighbour and the a/c) which were resolved immediately. Hotel Castillo is very close to everything in Santa Cruz and a 20 minute walk into La Crucecita. Many excursions are organized right out of the lobby.
The Beach Club on Playa Chahue has a nice pool area and terrific food. The chairs are actually comfortable in the dining area - not the usual straight back, uncomfortable wooden chairs typical to Mexico. However, Playa Chahue is not for you if you're not a good swimmer - maybe just sit out in the waves near shore. We always managed to get shade, chairs and a lounger on the beach. (The loungers could use some padding for comfort.) We would definitely go back.

Property is in easy walking distance of the beach, shopping and some amazing dining. Staff was friendly, helpful and many were bilingual. Rooms are very clean, pool is a decent size, breakfasts were great. Downside, no fridges in the room, and rooms on the streetside could be quite noisy. Drinks at the bar were a wee bit pricey for what you get.
All in all, would definitely recommend for it’s cleanliness, location and helpful staff.

The restaurant offers a nice buffet for breakfast and themed dinner options (Sunday was Spain dishes, and the paella was great!). The place also offers live music for a relaxing evening at the bar next to the lobby. The swimming pool was nice and clean.

This all-inclusive is great because, rather than being far from a town or amenities or shopping, the Castillo is right in Santa Cruz and within walking distance of the nearby town of La Crucecita. The added bonus is the Beach Club (also walkable) but with a shuttle every 20 minutes or so. The staff is remarkable - friendly and knowledgeable.

It was not bad, the beds are confortable, the hotel have good cleaning standars, the restaurant was great. What was not so good was the noise from the bar they had karoke avery night until pass midnight, I could get to sleep earlier, lost of noise from people (drunk?) two days we didn't have hot water until after 7 pm because of broken pipes, they never advise us. The club the playa was great!!! And the beach was great. They didn't gave me the discount card for the restaurant until after the 5th day of my stay!
