We recently stayed at Sea Horse Resort and overall had a very pleasant experience.

Before our trip, I contacted the hotel to ask about the possibility of an early check-in. To my surprise, they had a room ready when we arrived around 12:30 PM, which was greatly appreciated after our drive.

Unfortunately, the room we were initially given had not been cleaned due to a hotel mistake. We were able to leave our luggage and spend some time outside while they took care of it. However, the staff sincerely apologized, and their genuine concern made the situation much easier to accept. It did not negatively affect our overall experience.

Although the ocean view was partially blocked by trees, the balcony was spacious, and the room itself was large and comfortable. After housekeeping finished, the room was spotless and felt almost brand new.

What stood out the most was the friendliness of the staff. Every request we made was handled quickly and professionally, which made our stay very convenient and enjoyable.

Most importantly, thank you for helping create such a positive experience and wonderful memories for our family. Small moments of kindness and great service can make a trip truly special, and your team did exactly that.

While the check-in issue was a minor inconvenience, the excellent customer service, cleanliness, and comfortable accommodations more than made up for it. We would happily stay here again and would gladly recommend Sea Horse Resort to others.

The location is a 10. The property is updated but still dingy. Bedding was clean, Murphy bed was a nice addition. Kitchen was clean and nice. Carpets, walls and chairs were stained. Floor was dirty… even the blinds were dirty. I don’t think we’d stay here again. Definitely airbnbs that are better for the price…

The location is excellent! The staff and amenities were great, with beach chairs and umbrellas for the beach in your room, plus beach towels and toys in the office. The kitchen was nicely stocked and the beds were comfortable. Plus a nice deck to Lou he on. Everything was very clean and seemed newly remodeled. Would definitely stay there again!!! My only complaint is the WiFi is not reliable or strong, so if you are planning to do any work while you are there, don’t plan to do it in the room.

We used to stay at this hotel at least once a year, to have a weekend with a glorious beachfront view, and we could always request the same room. Coming back now, it’s a totally different vibe. Seems like it has been bought out, and the new company only cares about profit, not the actual guests. We requested our same room and didnt get it, and instead we were berated at check-in for booking through a third party. We wanted to do laundry (which they used to have), but they no longer have it. And we requested to stay just 30 min late, so we could relax until our train departure, and they gave me a hard time. Overall it felt like they were not the least bit interested in accommodating us, but were annoyed we were taking up space there. This hotel is a very special part of our past, but maybe it should stay that way.

Great view of the beach, the facility was clean, however the shower heads seem to have quite a bit of scaling so water pressure is diminished. Also if you're sensitive to train noise this could be an issue since the trains come through frequently and the noise of the crossing is quite loud. My wife kept a running count of the trains with as many as 28 between 4am and 11am. Ear plugs help. 😁. Other than that, we'd probably stay here again.

This is a beautiful place. super close to the pier and a gorgeous view. Lots of nearby restaurants, beautiful area. Only negative for us was that the walls seem to be pretty thin. You can hear people closing doors and walking up and down stairs easily.

You could be pleasantly entertained all day long with the people watching opportunities from the patio- whether they be walking their dogs, surfing the waves, or onboarding or off boarding the Amtrack Surfliner that conveniently whizzes past. Shopping & dining is abundant & only a stroll away. This was an awesome hotel. The view alone was worth the price. The room was spacious it has a small kitchen with large fridge. The balcony overlooks the beach and is directly across from the pier. The only downside is the trains but considering how close the tracks are it still isn't very loud it didn't keep us awake or disturb our sleep. We would definitely stay again

We had a 3rd level room with “obstructed” view and no balcony. It was perfect! We had a terrific, full view of the beach and pier, no balcony but the living room had comfy chairs we turned to face the window and we were warm and relaxed. The whole apartment was very comfortable and well equipped for us and our dog. The beach is right there, the train noise is minimal and pleasant.

The room was spacious and even had a convenient spot to park our three bicycles. The ocean view was stunning, and the balcony made it easy to enjoy the fresh air. While the Amtrak train passes through periodically, it’s simply part of the San Clemente beach experience. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I’ll definitely be returning.

This hotel is a small older hotel but it has cute charm. The location great, across from the beach. Room is kept up, clean and spacious. If you’re looking for a modern hotel this isn’t it but it’s still a great hotel. Several cafe’s to eat at are below the hotel at street level. Room comes with kitchen with fridge. Would stay again.

We stayed here in March of 2025. We had a nice room with an ocean front balcony view on the top level booked through Expedia. About $170 a night. We booked another stay in June 2025 for September 2025, used the previous booking as the reference for our new booking. The price was nearly double $300 because it is in season. I was ok with that. We showed up on check in day, and they put us in a ground floor with only a deck view right on the street. I objected vehemently( told them it was BS) to the room choice and they blamed it on Expedia. Saying it was because we booked through Expedia and not directly with them. I told them we had booked through Expedia in March and had the room up on the top level and used the same reference for the booking.The room we got is a converted office, turned into a studio room. Scarcely decorated, with no view at all from the bedroom(a 7ft partition wall separates the foyer(they call it a sitting area) from the bedroom . The shower is a 40\"X40\" water closet and is on the opposite side of the room from the bathroom. The doors that enter the room are office doors with blinds inside the glass. It sits right on the street, and we had 3 incidences where people came trying to open our door as though it was the office. One woman actually walked in and asked us if this was the office.We will not be staying there again, but expect Expedia to contact us and refund us some of the room charges. I took pictures for reference. Terrible experience.

I am giving this property a 10 it’s probably very underrated, but it is the number one location in San Clemente right across from the pier. The rooms are very spacious and large and clean. The view is a 10+ unbelievable what a great value at the seahorse resort, thank you team.

We booked for two nights and were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel and proximity to the pier. The partial ocean view was better than many hotels with full ocean views (the room was spacious with a full size refrigerator and nice kitchenette), with a direct view of the pier and beach.
Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
The only negative comments I have are the parking, which is limited and extremely tight, and the narrow stairs which lead to the office and rooms. People with injuries or disabilities might have issues accessing the rooms because the hotel is built into the hillside (as all of them in the area are).
Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Seahorse Resort.

We had an amazing stay at the Sea Horse Resort in San Clemente! The room view was absolutely stunning, with a breathtaking view of the ocean waves and the San Clemente pier. We also enjoyed watching the Amtrak train and the trolley pass by.

The check-in process was seamless, and parking was a breeze. The ladies in the office were super friendly and made us feel welcome.

The room was spotless and comfortable, and we loved the cozy atmosphere. However, we made the mistake of sleeping with the balcony door open and the fan on, which didn't quite work out as planned since the train noise woke us up in the middle of the night.

Despite that minor hiccup, everything else was perfect. The resort's location is unbeatable, with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. We even took the trolley to a popular Mexican spot, which was a fantastic experience.

The sound of the waves was like music to our ears, and we felt so lucky to be able to listen to it all night. We're already looking forward to our next visit and can't wait to explore more of San Clemente. Highly recommend the Sea Horse Resort to anyone looking for a relaxing coastal getaway!

Perfect location for getting to know the area. Right across the street from the pier, Amtrak stop and lots of places to eat plus a convenience store at the end of the block. Downtown is about a 25 minute uphill walk. The trolley stop is across the street which will take you several places within San Clemente.

Amazing location and view!

I had a wonderful stay. A lot of space and my room had an awesome view of the beach and the pier. Was a quick walk to the beach and they offer beach towels and chairs for you to use. Also close to a small store and a couple of places to grab a quick bite to eat. It is a bit of an older property but it is well maintained. The staff is very friendly. I hesitate to review this too well because it’s a relatively small property and I don’t want it to sell out the next time I want to visit.

What a wonderful vacation! We loved the spacious room and small kitchen, though we never cooked…there are too many great options for dining in the area. We especially enjoyed having breakfast at Frenchies Café on the lower level of our building and dinner at Fisherman's Restaurant on the pier. Having a dedicated parking space was a real treat. Our room was ocean view, so we loved sitting on the patio, people watching and hearing the waves crashing. You do hear the trains throughout the day, not at night, but they go through quickly. We definitely plan to stay here again!

Funky older property but nice to be near the beach and have a kitchen. It's a pretty active spot with a lot going on (train crossing that frequently blows train whistle, a trolly bus stop right in front, lots of people accessing the pier and beach. Good food options and great beach access make it mostly worth it.

The best location in San Clemente! We stayed in a studio, ocean view and it was perfect - spacious, clean, modern. It has 2 ceiling fans to keep it cool. Great patio and priceless view of the ocean and pier. Yes - it’s a busy spot and can get loud with traffic, train, and people - but we expected it given the location - so no complaints here… (just a warning if you’re looking for peace and quiet by the ocean)

Pros: The room was clean and seemed to be somewhat recently renovated. The view was amazing and the villa we stayed in had a nice sized balcony to enjoy the ocean view. There is a stairway right next to the rooms leading directly to the shops and cafes, then just cross the street to reach the beach and pier. I loved having the kitchenette to store and reheat leftovers. The staff was very friendly.
Con’s: My main and biggest complaint was the bed. I have a lot of back/hip pain and prefer a more plush mattress and this one was very hard. There were 4 pillows on the king bed but I tend to sleep with a couple extra. When I requested a few extra pillows I was told they had no more as the rooms were supplied with the allotted amount. After waking up at 3am in pain we ended up running to Target the next morning to buy a foam mattress topper and extra pillows. There is also a train track on the opposite side of the road that we did hear at least once in the middle of the night. There is a barn door for the bathroom that is not sealed so I would not recommend this room for newer couples. You can definitely hear everything that goes on behind that door and even make eye contact with someone on the toilet if you’re at the right angle (my husband likes to make things awkward). My only other minor complaint is the TV. It is hung in the living space with 2 chairs in front of it. The bed is around the corner. It would be nice to have a place to snuggle up and watch a movie/show.

love that it is walkable to pier and beach and a few eateries. cute and comfy decor. Parking is easy as long as you have a compact car. A BBQ or community BBQ is not offered. so the kitchen is limited. Only cooking available with the kitchen is a microwave and a very small cooktop. No oven.The bed could definitely use an upgrade. Staff was very inviting and courteous. The loudness around the property can make it hard to relax and or read a book along with sleeping.
