We stayed at the Maitai for 4 days. The hotel is outdated, broken floor and windows. It’s pretty close to the airport and you can hear all the airplane noise due to the broken windows. The staff told us they could find us a better room from the second date but never come back to us for any updates. Will never go back again! Not recommended at all!!!

We loved staying here. Absolutely gorgeous location and very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are a little dated but I like the retro Polynesian vibe. We greatly enjoyed breakfast and the meals we had at the restaurant.

Great hotel in Rangiroa

Maitai was an awesome place to stay in Rangiroa! The views were amazing and the bungalow we stayed in was great! The food was tasty at the restaurant and it was more affordable than other places in French Polynesia. Also added bonus that breakfast was included. Service at the front desk was great while service during meals would have been better if the servers were more attentive. Like other reviews mentioned, Wi-Fi was not good in our bungalow. Regardless of those small issues, I would recommend Maitai to anyone looking for a place to stay in Rangiroa.

The food is delicious. I love the little tiny pool more than I thought I would.
There were ants in the room, but what can you expect, it’s in the tropics!
Just keep all your food in the little fridge!

Really cute property and food was excellent (which is good because there are few local options otherwise). Grounds are very well maintained and create a very nice atmosphere. AC worked very well--a plus and sometimes rarity on the islands. Internet not available in all rooms (needs some signal extenders most likely), which was a problem for me as I had to work a bit regrettably. Rooms are comfy but minimally appointed. I would definitely stay here again.

The property was beautiful. The waterfront bungalow we stayed in was spacious and clean. We enjoyed our porch overlooking the lagoon, even on the rainy days because the porch was nicely covered! The snorkeling off the pontoon was amazing, with lists of fish and healthy coral in many spots. The staff at the front desk went above and beyond to help us work with tour operators when our tours were cancelled due to weather conditions. Most of the staff spoke at least a little English and were patient with our terrible French! Great spot to stay in a beautiful place!

Hotel upgraded us from Tapa to Vini bungalow which was larger & had an ocean view with daily house keeping service. Our beds & pillows were our only complaint....not the most comfy. Open air restaurant on the water was nice. Pool is nice & was redone while we were there. Shuttle service was waiting on us at airport. Hotel staff was very nice. after checking out the competition we hope to return to Le Maitai Rangiroa in Feb 2024.

Lovely snorkeling from the dock. The pool was okay. The bed was not very comfortable and the sheets rode up leaving us touching a bare mattress (ick!). Lots of scary dogs in the area, including the abutting property. Restaurant menu is very limited. One waitress answered every question with \"no.\" Asked for cocounut, \"no,\" but they have some! Okay. Asked for ketchup \"no,\" the next waitress said yes of course. Seemed like she didn't want to work, like we were an annoyance.

Struttura in se\" bella con bungalow in legno ma ci sono vari problemi:
1) il wifi non arriva in camera ma solo zona reception e pool e funziona male 2)colazione non inclusa e costa 30 euro a persona 3) spiaggia inesistente al suo posto c'era una striscia di 2 m di sassetti
4)intorno non c'era nulla (come inn tutta l'isola) se non un mini supermercato costosissimo

Snorkeling 10meters in front of resort was excellent with tons of fish. Resort is small as expected, but peaceful and perfect for us. Rooms had a/c and ceiling fan. Restaurant and bar onsite were good with excellent waterfront location. Small infinity pool was great. Some ants But generally very clean and modern for such a remote location. Wifi is 2 G, was adequate for getting emails once per day but Rangiora does not have highspeed internet anywhere. Fishing charter (Emmanuel) dropped us off at resort dock , which was handy. I’d stay here again. Kia ora hotel is nearby, bigger and more expensive but both resorts seemed appropriately priced given location.

This hotel was an excellent value and a very pleasant stay. It is centrally located in Vaitape, where the airport shuttle boat docks...walking distance to restaurants, shops, and grocery store. There’s a nice infinity pool, but better to jump right into the ocean from the hotel dock. There’s a good restaurant and even a boat trip available adjacent to the hotel. My only gripe was the lack of air conditioning...I would’ve paid $50-60 more a night for the comfort.

It is a wonderful hotel, with location. Not much of a sandy beach area, but soft sand is rare on Rangiroa.
The restaurant is a bit pricey. The bedding and wash clothes are worn out, but the sheets were clean and fine. The service it great here, and they help with tours, which is sthe only way to see the wonders of this place. The tours are worth it. We recommend the Reef Island Tour.

Rangiroa has a dozen or so small pensions that are not found on internet sites, and only two international class hotels. We chose Le Maitai based on price and were not disappointed. We got a clean, comfortable and spacious bungalow with air conditioning and pleasant ambiance where we slept well at night. We enjoyed interacting with warm and friendly hotel staff who took good care of arranging our special tours. The restaurant staff always knew our room number without asking. Food was good, authentic, and expensive as everywhere in Tahiti. We spent casual hours every day at the beautiful lagoon-facing indoor/outdoor dining area, bar, and lounge area that's often visited by locals and makes fabulous photos. The dock over the water gives good fish-viewing from above as well as access to snorkeling among said fish right in front of the dock. They provided good snorkel gear.

All that being said, the entire complex is squeezed into a rather small parcel of land, so the atmosphere was more that of a built environment than a shack on the beach. No lawn area. The space between bungalows is pretty narrow so you get to know your neighbors. The \"beach\" is rocks not sand, but if you're swimming off the dock that doesn't matter. The deck is meant for lounging not sunbathing.

It's near the airport, but the off-site shopping and restaurant options are mostly 2-3 miles away. They have bicycles to use and there are taxi options. Rangi is flat and bicycles are popular.

Nice stay on remote island

Spent a night here before joining a yacht charter . The resort is simple, but nice. Room overlooked the lagoon and the resort was intimate and well maintained. We hadn't dinner at the restaurant, which was ok - but many of the menu items were not available, perhaps because we arrived just after the busy new year period. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Nice option in Rangiroa

Nice bungalows, with spacious bathroom and living space. The best place if you want the convenience and service of a hotel (restaurant on site, daily cleaning of room, etc) without the exorbitant prices of the Kia Ora. There isn't really a beach for sitting on. The snorkelling is decent off the pier or the beach. They are good to arrange excursions if you like.

The service at the hotel was mixed. There were staff that were lovely and helpful, and there was staff that seemed annoyed that we were asking to order dinner at the restaurant or rent bikes.

The room service did little more than make the bed, never changed the sheets or the towels.

Just what we wanted

Quiet, clean bungalows,on site restaurant excellent food the three times we ate there (prices standard for a Tahiti hotel-a bit pricey) Pool area with beautiful view of lagoon and their pier. Pool not big enough for laps, but there is a beautiful lagoon out front with warm clear water and that's what we came for. Just outside and 50 yards from the hotel, a store (with no sign) had basic supplies, but most importantly fresh baked baguettes delivered there at 5:30am every morning. There were also several snack cafe's walking distance for lunch and dinner. Restaurant Vaimao across the street serves good pizza for dinner, besides other dishes. Good service. Internet card must be purchased, $5 for 1 hour etc. (sign off to save minutes) was sufficient for me to check my emails. Airport just down the street about 15-20 minute walk and expect a charge to get a ride to and from there- about $38 for two people. For snorkeling, out front of the hotel under their pier there is plenty of reef fish to see, scattered coral heads otherwise coral trying to make a comeback, black tip reef sharks like to swim around here also along with other reef fish. The \"aquarium\" for snorkeling by the mouth of Tiputa pass is excellent for variety of fish and some black tip reef sharks.

Dive Trip at Rangiroa

The MaiTai turned out to be an excellent choice for accommodations. The service was terrific with very helpful and friendly employees always willing to help. The resort is small but very clean and well appointed for a three star rating. . It only rates that low because the place had no entertainment events or luxury activities such as on-site massages but no one staying there really cared much for that anyway. The food was good and there was a small market store just outside the gate for convenience items and food if you chose to save on costs. The front desk arrange pick ups to all locations if you chose not to walk or bike. THe bungalows all had both fans and air conditioning were cleaned daily. Grounds were well kept. I couldn't be better pleased with the staff there. Definitely would stay there again.Best bang for buck on the atoll,

Excellente localisation. Le petit déjeuner est varié et délicieux; nous arrivions de Tikehau où les possibilités de se nourrir étaient plutôt limitées, donc nous étions 100% satisfaits. Les bungalows avec accès à la plage sont en rénovation, mais le site n’était pas bruyant. Nous avons apprécié notre séjour.

Chambre en bungalow double un peu étroite, propre.
Occultation loin d’être parfaite avec des spots dans le jardin braqués sur la baie vitrée.
Bon buffet au petit déjeuner. Personnel sympathique sans collier de coquillages en partant après un séjour de 3 jours. Les traditions se perdent…

Service sans sourires et plutôt stressé, un couple à côté est resté une bonne demi heure sans que les assiettes soient débarrassées.
L’endroit est joli mais le reste est au maximum entre 2 et 3 étoiles.
Dommage, une instruction et des recommandations feraient merveille.

Big renovation of the resort, management and Staff are longe overdue. Poor rooms, with lots of mold, rotten Floor, terrible bathroom and paperthin walls, so you get to enjoy all nightly activities of your neighbour and hear the snoring afterwards.
Lots of mice and other uninvited guests in the resort and even in the bar and restaurant.
I encountered 2 members of Staff who like to work in the hospitality business, so feel sorry for them and appreciatie their efforts, but all the others were tired and not interested.
Wifi was not working during the whole stay. Breakfast is very underwhelming and don’t have your dinner in the restaurant, because they seriously overcook everything, and a beautifull fresh fish is made unedible. Including the cost of a return with a taxi you will eat much better and cheaper somewhere else on the island. Avoid at all costs!

(Her) Hop in, I will drive you.

And then she drove me to the end of the world, while telling me all about the island. Well, it is a small island, so the end of the world was not that far away, but it was very kind of her, to give me a lift.

And this is just one example of that true Polynesien island spirit, I experienced throughout my stay at Maitai.

The resort needs a few repairs. Overall however very good considering how remote and small the island is. Make sure you have a booking with breakfast as breakfast booked locally is very expensive.
The staff is not very flexible, for divers which have a early pickup (like 7:10 or similar) breakfast starts at 6:45. the staff will not open the door one minute earlier despite several people standing in line waiting....

Globalement tout s'est bien déroulé, les bungalows sont très bien. Je trouve que le service de navette est très cher comparé à la distance parcourue. De même l’hôtel propose des excursions ou la com prise est un peu forte. Enfin, au restaurant, on nous a dit que le petit dej était compris dans la nuitée et au départ, on a eu la bonne surprise de devoir le payer.

Hôtel bien situé avec accès au lagon très facile.
Bungalow agréable mais situé bord de route donc moins sympa. Location des vélos avec prix excessifs et en mauvaise état. Réservation d’activités avec l hôtel avec un coût très important par rapport aux autres personnes venant d autres hôtels ne prenant pas de surcoût. Personnel à l accueil très désagréable et moyennement compétent … c’est anormal par rapport standing…je ne recommande pas cet hôtel.
