Clean, Good location, but not 4 star IMO.

Breakfast “ok”. Rooms are NOT as big the images. Major Kudos to the photographer for making the place look big. Another group we talked with shared the same view as us. Pool is tiny, bathroom was tiny, toilet separate but around the closet? Would have been a lot more logical to have updated in a more integrated way.

Very nice hotel located in the heart of Bayeux. The only issue we experienced was no air conditioning in 90 degree weather. Apparently it is very unusual for it to be that hot. Other than that, it was a very nice hotel and the employees went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

The grand Hotel Luxembourg was absolutely amazing. The property itself was beautiful our room which had a private patio and Jacuzzi was wonderful. All of the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. We were given two of the most wonderful restaurants to eat at and the next time we come to France, we will stay there much longer and not spend so much time in Paris. Normandy is amazing and so are all the people at the hotel.

We appreciated coffee in our room. We didn’t do the breakfast because it was just going to be too much food for us. We did order some food in the bar and I would say that could be upgraded. Just bringing us an entrée that was in a jar and warmed up was not very good. Maybe add some soups to the menu.

I was put in an annex area of the hotel. Up two fights of very steep stairs . Very musty smell in hallway . Very dingy and I uninviting Very difficult to get up the stairs with my heavy luggage. No warning of this in reservation. The staff trying to help were not strong enough. The room was a good size but worn and dated. The bed was poor quality . Very soft and low . The bathroom had good hot water and pressure but it was a tub with a hand head and no shower curtain…the toilette paper was issued as in a public washroom . One piece at a time. I could not get the safe to work. There was no mini fridge. The public areas of the main building were really dated and worn and unattractive.

Our room was sufficient size for 2 travelers. However, we had 2 issues, one minor the second significant. First, the pillows were small and every time we turned over, we had to wake up enough to adjust our pillows. More problematic was the safety issue with the tub/shower facilities. As seniors, we found getting in and out of the tub/shower unsettling as the level of the tub bottom is higher than the bathroom floor. Moreover, there are no safety measures inside the tub/shower. First, no anti-slip items on the tub bottom, so footing was/is a constant concern. Second, the shower walls lacked any handles or grab bars so with a slick tub bottom and no way to hold on, showering was a risk every morning.

We absolutely loved our stay at this intimate and lovely hotel. The staff was so friendly and had wonderful recommendations for restaurants and directions to attractions.
The only problem for me was the lighting in our room was so dim it was hard to do my face. We will definitely be back if possible!

Cons: dated and not what you would expect for a 4-star hotel. Our room was located up a narrow flight of stairs (no elevator) that smelled musty at the top and in the hall; from our room we could hear everyone going up and down the stairs to the floor above; no AC in the room and the provided fan was caked with dust; the room was very sparse with no decoration and didn’t include amenities like a robe to wear to the pool, or a steamer or iron. The bathroom was the most modern part of the room but badly planned with a huge sink, but no counter space or shelf and a shower where you had to squeeze into a corner, where the faucet was, in order to not flood the whole space. We were also over the entrance to the garage and on several occasions people would just sit under the room and rev their motorcycles, creating a lot of noise.

The hotel is beautiful, in an old mansion that was once inhabited by writer Gustave Flaubert. The rooms were nicely sized, and room amenities (water, coffee, etc) were replenished everyday of need be. Staff were So friendly and helpful. Our only constructive criticism is that the WiFi was not very strong: it was in and out. However everything else was wonderful!

Historic gem in the center of Bayeux

This was our base during our visit to Normandy. Located in a central location to restaurants and shopping, it was a lovely historic hotel. There was no air conditioning, but there was a fan - which was great. Staff was courteous and helped with all our questions. Taxis are readily available to get to the train station. Will stay there again should we ever find ourselves in Bayeux. Exactly as described.

The room was nice and quiet but I didn’t find the mattress comfortable. The room had a fan which kept it cool as it had no A/C. We did not have a good experience during our stay. There was no heat in our room with temperature in the 50s. Room seas too small and does not compare to others at the same rate. Wonderful staff that was very friendly and helpful. We booked 2 superior rooms. One was beautiful and clean. The other had hair in the drain and the garbage had not been dumped and a stain on the carpet. The breakfast was food, excellent croissants. Pool was heated but the hot tub wasn’t hot enough to sit in the cold weather. I believe they said 100. It needed to be at least 105. I do recommend this hotel. The massage therapist isn’t always on site so I don’t know of you have to book that in advance. I wish we had known that.

This was a beautiful old hotel, the staff tried very hard to accommodate and overcome any language barriers. The bar was small and cute and the heated pool and spa looked beautiful.
Our room had no lifts only a narrow set of old stairs, that was a struggle with our luggage. The room itself was very noisy at night we both woke up on several occasions due to the sounds of the old building. But this felt like you were staying in a place of history so it was interesting and fun.
It was clean, had a comfortable bed, modern amenities and parking.

We arrived really late due some issues with a hire car and lady who welcomed us (I am so sorry, I have forgotten her name) was fantastic. An absolute credit to this hotel. She was so friendly and helped us set up the charging of our car when we were ready to fall apart. Our room was a good size, and very comfortable, with a window looking out to the car park. No fridge in room. On-site parking for a fee. Most hire cars in France are Hybrids, so charging station at the hotel was a plus. There is a small lift, but there are stairs as well after the lift if on a upper floor. There is a bar in the hotel. The hotel is walking distance to many eateries. This is a great hotel and we would definitely stay again.

The location of this hotel is perfect. The people are fabulous and friendly. We did not use any of the spa services so we can't speak to that, but the location is ideal and walkable to everything. Easy trips from here to the Normandy beaches / area. We would stay here again time and again when visiting Bayeux...this was about as close to perfect as one can hope.

We were warmly welcomed in the evening the gentleman on reception recommended a local French restaurant which served traditional food. He booked a table on our behalf. Throughout our staff were helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend this hotel. Perfect for exploring Bayeux. All shops and restaurants in walking distance. A beautiful cathedral that reflected the advent season with it arrangement of purple lights on the walls and a nativity scene pointing the way to birth of Jesus. A lovely town to visit particularly at the pre Christmas time. All shops beautifully decorated in true traditional French style

The staff was friendly and very helpful. One challenge was that some rooms were not accessible by elevator. Once the elevator reached a floor, the rooms were up another half flight of steps. It was challenging for me who is a senior adult to get a suitcase up that half flight. I had to take it slow but managed okay. The onsight parking spaces were very tight and some were difficult to get into.

Everything else was great! Hotel breakfast had a nice assortment of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, yogurts and cereals....all the normal offerings of many hotel breakfasts.

We had a very nice 2 night stay. Our room was a mini suite for 3 of us. Queen bed and a single bed that had its own space. The bathroom was quite large with a walk-in shower, no tub and all quite new. I liked that the floor was a laminate throughout the suite. The beds were quite comfortable. The pool and hot tub were a nice feature but did not use due to weather. Our daughter did sit in the hot tub which was warm and could have been a little hotter but not a big deal. The location was perfect for walking around Bayeux. The staff were very accommodating and helpful in getting us a taxi when needed and storing our bags on day of check out. We did not use the spa but did have the breakfast one morning and it was good. Lovely stay!

The staff was fantastic when we needed help getting our train reservation printed out. They also gave us advice about tours in the area. The pool and jetted spa was a welcome respite after our long day of exploring the town and surrounding historic sites. They’re lobby had a cozy bar area to have a glass of wine and talk to other travelers. We enjoyed our time there.

Our stay at the Grand Hotel was very enjoyable. It is unquestionably a beautiful and well-maintained facility. The location is very convenient to shopping and dining options, plus less than 1 mile from the Bayeux train station. The staff were consistently responsive, going out of their way to ensure an enjoyable stay. The room was very comfortable, provided all the necessary amenities, and was well maintained by housekeeping during our stay. We will absolutely return to this establishment. Initially I was concerned about the size of the room 709. Not much closet space. However, we got over that and enjoyed our time. The bar and adjacent pool patio were excellent in the warm weather. At the end of each day we had a swim and a cold beer. Is there another hotel so close to everything with such an amenity? We walked 500m to bus station Saint Patrice where we caught the 121 to Juno Beach which was the target of our visit. A most comfortable bus there and back. The Luxemburg is also walking distance to Bayeux’s three principal museums. I would recommend the Luxemburg to others.

Absolutely stunning hotel, in the heart of Bayeux. Walkable to a few museums, lovely market towns, and shops and restaurants.
We opted for the room with the terrace and hottub as it was booked for my husbamds 40th birthday. Being able to come back after a long day and get into the hottub was amazing.
I requested wine and sweets on arrival, and this was done, what a lovely spread it was.

Probably the only downfall is the towels, they need to be bigger, plus if you have the suite with the hottub or spa bath I think extra towels should be provided. However wasnt the end of the world just had to use one towel for everything thats all.

Parking at the hotel was easy, first night there were loads of spaces, 2nd night not so many but either way if it is full there are plenty of car parks around the area walking distance.

I would definitely come back to this hotel.
