Place is clean and nice. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Loved the breakfast.

HOWEVER......There was loud music and thumping bass until 4 am across the street. I book hotels so I can get a good SLEEP and function the next day. There was also vomit all up and down the sidewalks outside the hotel...totally gross! Wish they would refund my money.

Wouldn't stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was wonderful and we enjoyed a pizza dinner in the restaurant as well. The dining area is especially beautiful with large windows overlooking the street. The rooms were quiet and comfortable; the staff accommodated us with adjoining rooms. The location is convenient, within walking distance of the train station and harbor.

The hotel had a lot of character and charm in line with the theater motif. For instance, my room was the \"makeup room.\" True to its name, it had a very nice dressing table, with a mirror lined with bulbs--perfect for doing makeup! The hotel was in a great central location, by the theater, by the waterfront, lots of restaurants nearby. It was a relatively short walk to the train station. The walk up Johannes Gate is lots of fun.

The included breakfast was phenomenal! Top of the line way to start your day. Convenience stores nearby and downtown all in walking distances. Upon check out, Alex did amazing helping with directions to the train station with great English! The check in staff (Brant I think was his name) was also very welcoming and helpful. Amazing food and places to eat, but breakfast at the hotel i could not stress enough!

Likely part of the decor in theme with a Theatre but the rooms could use a refresh. There is a scented smell in the hallways that is very strong. It was nice at first but became too much.

I loved this property for the money. It’s rare you find something that is lovely, yet not over priced. It’s not a luxury hotel, rather it’s a lovely stay. We lucked out and got a very large corner room in the back of the hotel on the 4th floor. I think Rm 412. There was a view of a neighboring building small courtyard, but it was soo quiet back there. The hotel is a 6 min walk from the Airport FlytoGet Teatro train stop. It’s in front of a gorgeous lovely park. On the other side of the park-a 2 min walk is a stop for the Hop on Hop Off Bus. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. The complimentary buffet in the morning was the star of the show. This is not one of those typical ones where you turn your nose up or begrudgingly eat it because it’s free. I made 2 triple espresso lattes daily and my son made fresh squeezed orange juice from the machine daily. It’s centrally located to many areas that tourists would like to go (10 -15 min walk to the Munch museum). Might have been our favorite stay in 17 days of our trip. Again, it’s not luxury, just lovely.

The hotel is located near many attractions and right across from the a train station with super easy access to airport (20-25 mins) which was convenient and significant less expensive than a taxi from the airport. (under $20 vs $100 for a taxi). Our room was not ready upon arrival early, but the team was super helpful. Taken care of our bags for us while we started our day. Also, anytime we needed tips of where to go and what to see, Mathilde at the front desk was super helpful! she had great ideas and was more than willing to spend the time giving us options which made our stay all the more enjoyable. She also arranged a To Go snack bag for our early AM check out heading to the airport which Aleks had ready for us at 530 am!!! really enjoyed the stay here and highly recommend.

Loud music from club right under our room. Unfortunately, a room move was not possible. We ended up going for a walk at 2:30 AM as it was impossible to sleep/be in the room. While not expecting compensation, the hotel invited us for pizza; however, we received a bill for a glass of wine. A room move was offered the next day, but we had to stay in close proximity from the hotel because the move could only be done at noon. Once again, I had to change the plans so we could sleep on the second night. Upon check out, while Henry was apologetic,his empowerment for resolution was very limited.

We had an amazing stay. The hotel is new and contemporary and very comfortable. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. We visited during a Norwegian heat wave and the air conditioning was very welcome. We recommend eating at the hotel pizza restaurant. Everything is made fresh on site including the gelato with unique Norwegian flavors.

Hotel is loud & lies to guests about room charges

Very loud. There was pounding music until 2AM both nights of our stay. We also heard every Tram that passed on the rails in front of the hotel. We could have tolerated those things, but the worst was that we were lied to by the hotel about room charges. Unacceptable. When we checked in, we were told we could cancel the third night of our stay without penalty. This turned out to be a lie. When we checked out after our second night, we were told we were required to pay for the third night. We contested this decision but hotel management insisted on charging us anyway. Very deceptive practices. Do not stay here. Stay at the Karl Johan hotel across the park where we stayed a few nights before our terrible experience at Christiania Teater. Karl Johan is a beautiful hotel, comparable rates, much quieter, and they don't lie to you about room charges.

Likes: As central Oslo as one can be. The bar downstairs is very good although quiet. Some of the art is good but thats where the line is drawn.
Dislikes: I booked Deluxe room but got a disabled equipped room in what appeared to be a construction area. I had hoped to sample classic old Oslo but this appeared to be a storeroom or some sort of conversion. No view whatsoever of Oslo, it had zero atmosphere and was expensive. All very disappointing but perhaps when booking with Expedia the hotels tend to choose such rooms, this has happened before. A warning about breakfast, it can get hectic and tables get reserved. The staff looked overwhelmed but the demanding public. On the whole the staff were friendly and helpful but it was not what I had hoped for and ironically the cheap hotel at the airport was a better experience (it was 1/5th of the price!).

We had an absolutely amazing stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating, check in was easy, and they handled us receiving bags that we shipped through a luggage porter service days ahead. They also let us store bags on our check out day. The room was well appointed and very comfortable with lots of light (and curtains). The shower was huge. The location is perfect for exploring Oslo. But our favorite part about the hotel was the breakfast buffet, which is free for hotel guests. It was outstanding and had anything you could dream of. Highly recommend staying here!

Nice, but inadequate elevator

I had a broken ankle at the time, and was unable to use the stairs. There was only one very small elevator, and I often had to wait 5+ minutes to use it, especially during breakfast rush. For a hotel of its size, and for such a high price, it seemed really inadequate. For anyone with mobility issues, be advised.

We stayed one night over a weekend for a family trip to explore Oslo. We selected this hotel because of the excellent walking location to downtown landmarks and shopping. The included breakfast was incredible and the hotel staff’s service was top notch.

Parking is a challenge - it’s not on-site and they do not have valet. You have to check in then drive to the nearest garage a few blocks away (cost $58 USD for 24 hours). Our room was nice but had some dysfunction. The bathroom has a step up that you could easily trip on in the middle of the night and there isn’t a counter to put toiletries upon.

The reason for my 4 star review instead of 5 was the excessive nighttime noise from the adjacent nightclub. We were awakened by loud bass coming through the walls that lasted over 2 hours. From what I’ve read on other reviews, this is not an isolated incident and they have tried to mitigate sound as best as possible. One solution may be to provide disposable earplugs on the nightstand for guests like they do in downtown Nashville hotels.
