We love staying at the e Madonna! Staying at the property is so unique, colorful and fun. The view you get at the pool it’s just pictures. Having the option to eat at the property. It’s extremely convenient and everything they serve is amazingly delicious. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We will be returning as always!

It was fabulous just like we’d always imagined! So kitschy and camp, just gorgeous craftsmanship. My wife & I came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were surprised with a free bottle of champagne in our room and a free slice of their famous pink champagne cake at dinner. Very classy & so appreciated. The staff were all excellent, helpful, and genuinely so hospitable. Can’t wait to return and try out the spa!

For over a decade now, it has been my dream to stay at the Madonna Inn. My husband took me for my birthday this year. We had the most wonderful time. We had breakfast in the café and dinner at the steakhouse. We stayed in room 146 called the Mini Maxi. The purple sparkly walls were so fun. The fireplace worked well and we used it the entire time we were in the room. Food in the restaurant was spectacular. I had the pork chops and my husband had the rib eye. For dessert they gave me a slice of carrot cake. You can pick any cake you like. We’ve already tried the pink champagne cake, which was also wonderful. We had a great time laying out by the pool and ordered their signature cocktail. Overall, the stay exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to come back again to try a different room.

After staying at the Madonna Inn 46 years ago on our honeymoon, we always return to the same high standards & friendly staff. We were in the Elegance Room, 1sr floor which has a king & queen to accomodate 4 people. Comfy beds. Great premium steak house. Reasonable premiymMartini's at the bar before dinner. Try there champagne cake, so delicous, enough for 2. We love Madonna Inn and Expedia foe a great value pricing.

A huge property with different themed rooms. Quite unique.

The pool bar attendant was unhelpful and disappeared when we wanted to order drinks. He also refused to make a reservation for us for the restaurant.

The bar/cafe area was lovely. The staff were helpful and the food was reasonable and delicious. The main dining area had a 12 piece old style dance band that lended well to the overall decor and atmosphere.

Although registration, who were pleasant and helpful, offered to have a porter help us with the luggage, as a nearly 80 yo, I landed up carrying heavy cases up 3 levels of stairs. Not good! Overall the experience was wonderful.

This was such a fun place to stay! It was a bucket list item for sure! We loved the restaurant and shops! The only thing I was disappointed with was how many kids were at the pool! I know it’s not an adults only hotel I just wasn’t expecting so many families and small kids to be there. Like shoulder to shoulder 5 year olds in the hot tub.

I always wanted to stay here because it looks like a cool quirky property. However, it’s really outdated and run down. The grounds are beautiful and the property is clean but its smells of old motel. The upholstery on the furniture is worn out and the restaurant is very over priced. The portions are generous but the quality of the food is poor. Overall the staff was friendly but when I checked in I was not warned that there would be construction immediately outside my door starting at 7:30 am. There were jack hammers and drills and it was extremely disruptive. The hotel was not sold out and they could have warned me and given me the option of another room when I checked in but they did not do that. Overall it was ok but not for me.

this is a review for room 117 (vintage).

perhaps it's unavoidable because it's a roll-in shower, but the fixed showerhead is so powerful that water sprays EVERYWHERE. strong water pressure is usually an excellent thing, but here, it's so strong that it results in the entire bathroom floor getting wet. if you're mobile and not in a wheelchair (and particularly if you're mobility-impaired), this is incredibly slippery, dangerous, and messy. there must be a fix that can be employed. steeper drain basin? longer shower curtain? lower water pressure?

additionally, a lot of mineral build-up on the fixed showerhead, which is just sort of gross.

also, as a heads up, there is no desk or table surface to use for writing/a laptop. and the tv is limited to digital cable only. we brought our own streaming device but the remote provided didn't allow for switching inputs and there are no physical buttons on the tv. the front desk confirmed that indeed this room has an older tv and using your own device was not an option. i'm not into paying $300+ for a room AND being subjected to commercial tv.

housecleaning was at it bright and early in the neighboring rooms, and you can hear alllll the vacuuming, moving furniture, etc. a bummer. but maybe unavoidable (and yes, we had our 'do not disturb' sign on the door).

all of this said, the staff was excellent - from front desk to golf cart 'shuttle' driver to pool bar bartender. we'll return and be more prepared for the above.

We stayed in the pick and shovel around and when water was spilled on the floor, I went to wipe it up with a towel and the floor was completely black so they need to really clean those floors in the rooms. It was really filthy dirty.

Room was dirty like it hadn’t been mopped in years. The room wasn’t the same room as photos on Expedia. The food at the steak house was disgusting and the service was horrible. Steak was chuck roast…….. outrageous. The cake is the only good thing and bakery!!!!!! Do recommend that. Other than the pretty vintage views I give it a 5/10

The husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend Memorial Day weekend 2026. While I can appreciate the kitchy feel of all the rooms and the dining areas, I feel that its too pricey for the dating of the rooms. I would probably stay here again for the steak restaurant but I didn’t like that the rooms are up hill, so it’s a bit of a trek to and from the dining, shops and pool area. There’s also doesn’t seem to be enough parking immediately in front of our room,(stayed in the Anniversary Room #147). The ice machine is in front of this room!

You go for the experience and ambiance but depending maybe on your room you can hear your neighbors talking so this place isn’t practical. Rooms with a connecting door is where we experienced this but we didn’t know the room had a connecting door as it wasn’t listed in the room info. I imagine a room with no connecting door might not have this issue. But you do hear people when they pass by in the hallways.

If you are looking for a unique place to stay, I would highly recommend the Madonna Inn. I would also recommend booking way in advance if you want a particular room. My only criticism is that the bed was extremely uncomfortable and so were the pillows (in the Yahoo room). As for the shower, the cave theme is great, but water gets all over the entire bathroom floor and does not dry for hours.

We stay here every chance we get because we LOVE everything about this beautiful place! We pick a new room every month and have a family get away since February! It is peaceful and beautiful. We love the restaurants copper café is a wonderful place to have a good lunch, but we love our breakfast there . Alex‘s steakhouse is a perfect place to have an elegant dinner beautiful atmosphere amazing food. I suggest the ribeye 1000% is worth it. Absolutely love this place. It’s been a gift. Each room has its features, le flur has beautiful atmosphere and heated toilet seats that my daughters loved lol … Italy room was awesome bottom floor and close to the pool! Staying in Holland Dutch and old mill this weekend… can’t wait ! 💗 Got to get my new wine glass 🍷 I have a collection building 💕

The pool and hot tub were completely crowded. Why not have one kids do not get in. I don't think a lot of people had rooms or spa booked. One reservation agent was abrupt and one super nice. We asked to check in early and pre- registered and supposedly had a guaranteed 4 o clock check in and still at 4:20-our room was not available. We called earlier in the week and than at noon as suggested. I got violently ill and was unable to take part in any part of the hotel. It's nice place I adore but really fell short.

The horses in the field were delightful.

CONS:
For paying the price of this place, the fact that they charge you for a continental breakfast is WILD. It's $14 for their breakfast. The breakfast consists of 2 beverages (a juice and a coffee or tea) and a pastry item, hardly would call that a breakfast. $14 for that??? Crazy. And if you want a bagel or anything else that they offer, it will be an additional $15+. Again, CRAZY.

Also, the fact that my husband and I sat on the end of our bed and the entire thing starts FLIPPING UP TOWARDS US is CRAZYYYYYYYYYY.

Also also, one of the reservation desk employees is rude. I came in to check out and give my keys back and she yawned in my face and was not hospitable at all. No thank you for choosing us or hope you enjoyed your stay. Blonde woman, should not be working with the public. She must hate her job because we can all tell by how she acts with the guests.

This is a must do stopover, if only for 1 night. Indescribably extravagant, but so unique. It is a popular restaurant with guests and locals. Make a reservation to ensure you get a table. Californian pricing but worth it just for the spectacle. We would do it again.

I stayed with my 10yr old for a weekend baseball tournament and we had the Cabin Still room. He loved the look and we did stay fin it for 2 nights, but there was no fan or working air. It was hot and we were under the stairs, so it was loud without a fan to drown out the other patrons passing to and from at night. For $299 per night, I feel the air needs to be working. Other than that, the food was great and the staff were all very helpful and friendly.

We had a wonderful stay at the Madonna Inn. Even on a weekday, the hotel was nearly full, which speaks to its popularity. Our family of three loved the unique antique decorations in the room—it felt very special compared to a standard hotel.
The amenities are top-notch; the luxury pool is beautiful, and we spent a lot of time exploring the secret garden. While the on-site restaurant is a visual treat and worth a visit for the vibe, it is a bit overpriced. Luckily, the location is convenient to other dining options like Denny's and Olive Garden if you want to save a little on meals. Highly recommend for a unique California experience!

The pool is nice but very crowded, you can also get drinks up there but they had only one, very overwhelmed, bartender working. The rooms are always lovely and quirky, but the walls must be paper thin, as we could hear EVERYTHING from the room above us. Staff was welcoming and helpful.

The property was excellent. The room was old very dark and outdated. The air conditioning was extremely noisy. One of the bathroom sinks is ready to fall down and there are very few electrical outlets in the room. The room is on the third floor with no elevators to get you, or your luggage up a windy staircase.

Popular and famous destination BUT is it worth the $$$??? We were told we would LOVE this place and we KINDA did… but for the $$$$ money you pay i expected FAR MORE! We were charged for EACH person in the room! The room we were in (FOx & Hound) was OLD and worn down. No bathroom in bedroom upstairs so had to wake up people in master bedroom to go pee at night. ONE shower to share for 4 people. The staff is GREAT and the food is AMAZING (steak OMG wow)… but listen NO NEED to charge this amount. We did a 5-day wine tour and we paid the same for ONE night at Madonna Inn as we paid for our other 4 nights in other cities! WOW! Plus we had no extra charges like parking or resort fees BUT Madonna DOES!!!! Madonna needs to update for the rates they charge!!!

The rooms are pretty run down, smell gross and definitely need some new carpet. The beds are awfully uncomfortable. Ice machine broken. We did love the pool but wish the jacuzzi was a bit warmer!

I grew up a few miles from the Madonna Inn and have always enjoyed it. We had a pretend splurge this weekend and stayed the night. I have to admit that a lot of areas felt old and dirty and look pretty haggard . And as a walrus the womens bahroom smells of hot wet sewage. Assuming as always it’s because of the mens waterfall urinal well. The vinyl cushioning on the wall and doors is black in a lot of areas. Just worn and old and filthy looking. The cushy vinyl chairs in the bar are all cracked. Things like this. They look awful, and are easy to redo. Taking nothing away. Just refreshing. It’s looking old and dirty. And very disappointed. It’s a lot of money, and people’s experiences aren’t going to be positive.
