Hotel is pretty old and not well maintained, bathroom was quite dirty with black mold and staining. The walls and ventilation points full of dust. Bedsheets were stained with black and yellow markings. General lack of cleaning across the room with old stained furniture.

The hot water was none existent.

Hotel is in need of some TLC.

The staff is the best part of the experience. Rama and the rest of the front desk staff were excellent. The front door men, the staff at breakfast, the staff at Oro restaurant and Christian and the staff at 1920s. Truly kind and hardworking.

The facilities itself were not that great. Small cockroaches in the room. Bedding and towels smelled odd. Corners and crevices caked with old guck from over the years. Definitely needs to be updated.

This property probably was a 4-star hotel a long time ago but now it’s a 3. The hallway carpet is torn and the AC in my room didn’t get to the low temperature I wanted even after the maintenance crew adjusted it. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful!

This is a really nice hotel for the price! The staff are friendly. The rooms are clean. The breakfast buffet is pretty good and pool area is spacious and relaxing. The shower in our room was a little slow to drain and the shower head could be upgraded, but this is a minor issue! Highly Recommend for anyone traveling in South Jakarta! ^_^

Hotel was good enough / bed was comfortable. Got 2 free drink vouchers on arrival but when I went to use them and pay they told me I couldn’t use them for those types of drinks even though I had asked specifically to use them. Had to pay full price - was a little frustrating. Overall a one night stay was ok. I will look for alternatives next time.

Have always been frequenting this hotel whenever we're in Kemang. Love the homey atmosphere it gives. Staffs were very pleasant and polite. An array of breakfast selection to choose from. It's always nice to relax by the pool but it does get quite crowded during the weekends and on holidays. Very convenient location, walking distance to a number of eateries and Kemang Village mall. The entrance of the hotel was under construction during our visit, which made it a little difficult for the taxi to drop us off. But other than that, everything was great and we had an enjoyable stay.

Reasonble choice if you stay in South Jakarta area

Bigger size of building that my expectation with cozy swimming pool and big restaurant. Location is pretty good but should bear traffic jam at rush hour. Breakfast and overall service level made me satisfied. Especially, there are some blue bird tax in hotel every time so very easy to go out without any waiting time. Only one thing I want to call out is there room condition. I ran air-condition for a long time but the bedding was damp and safe didn't work and shower head shoot the water into random direction.

Personnel- thumbs up to the warmth shown by the Cleaners, security and waiters in the breakfast area, you can sense that they are genuinely happy to see and welcome guests.

However, the same can’t be said about the front desk, from the point of check-in the lady made me feel rather unwelcome, perhaps I’m being sensitive here. Also, a more meticulous method of tracking the foreign currency paid for deposit would be good for your hotel. This is because I was issued USD$100 when I placed a SGD $100 deposit. Being honest, I alerted the counter to the error :)

Facilities - the free shuttle bus needs to be punctual as advertised, on 22nd I waited from 10:55am till 11:30am and the first shuttle bus did not arrive. Despite notifying the staff who proceeded to call, giving me the reason that the traffic was jammed, I was able to get a Gojek car within 1 minute and it arrived within 2 mins.

As for the spa, it was disappointing on two occasions. On 23rd Sunday night 9pm we went to the spa to try their service. (It isn’t very easy to find the way there since the arrows on the poster signalling the direction is at the bottom of it) The spa lady told us there were no more masseurs, that all went home. I told her that it’s ok and I would like to make an appointment for Monday morning. She told me that I wouldn’t have to, just need to walk in at 10am. I did that at 9.50am the next day and was turned away by another lady saying they were full. How are you full before you open?

A typically good stay at the Grand Kemang.

The only, small, issue was that I could not get the AC to do anything other than very cold on high fan speed. Fine during the day if I happened to be in the room, but I turned the AC off at night.

Room was clean and comfortable, a good spread of food at the breakfast buffet and, as usual, an interesting and eclectic art collection in the lobby.

Spacious and relaxing ambience. Design is contemporary but quite elegant. Excellent, deep, pool. Excellent breakfast, with eating area overlooking the pool. In-house \"English\" pub with happy hours, although very quiet when I looked in. Also another bar with regular live bands. Overall very good value for money.

Very convenient for Lipo Mall Kemang, which is a medium sized and fairly up-market mall with an attractive outdoor seating area, big screen, and adjacent food/refreshment outlets. Free hourly shuttle takes only 10-15 mins to go there or return.

Spent one night here and saw lots of families with kids. There were only 4 floors so there is no grand view from hotel room. The twin room was spacious but it smelled moldy. Bed sheets and towels smelled bad, too. There were only two bath towels (one of each person) and no face towels at all. No slippers provided. Aircon is not working properly. Could not sleep well because it was too hot. Expedia gave us free mini bar but when we checked with hotel staff, they said only certain drinks were free.

The best staff in the world

I often stay at Grandkemang for my stay in Jakarta simply I feel home, especially when staying for work.

Everyone smiles and say good morning in a heartfelt and warm manner, especially after a day at work or braving the Jakarta traffic. It begins with the security, concierge front desk and all the way to Front Desk staff when one arrives, friendly and professional.

Yes, some rooms in the hotel are in need of a revamp, especially the bathrooms and internet connectivity but having experienced newer hotels without warm and care from the staff, I can live with some of these.

Once again, I hope the management keep these good folks and familiar faces for without them, Grandkemang is but like all the rest of the hotels.

Ideal hotel for business trip

Plenty of space in main lounge, coffee lounge, reception area & bar - ideal ambiance for casual business meetings. The bedrooms are also quite spacious, if a little dated. Staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. Restaurant is very nice and the breakfast buffet is excellent. The integral pub is handy at night, although lacking a little in atmosphere. I have stayed in this hotel many times and will certainly recommend it to business travelers & tourists.

Great value. The gym and pool were better than expected. Room service was decent but overpriced; that is because the area is heavy in foreigners though, not a fault of the hotel. The only issue is the soundproofing of the room. I don't hear other guests but from 10pm till 2am it is loud due to a club or bar nearby. If I didn't stay up till 4am working I would've left this hotel. Other than that, it is a great value for $45-60.

This time, we stayed for three nights. Every time I come to Jakarta, I always come back to this hotel.
Location is great, lots of good restaurants and cafes, there is big mall behind the hotel and safe location. Lots of ATM opposite the hotel. The room is very spacious - grand deluxe type. Staff are super friendly and accommodate our needs.
No hassle on anything and just loved it!!!
Highly recommended.

Low rise hotel in an exclusive neighborhood in Jakarta. Nice lobby and restaurant but my opinion is that the hotel is tired and needs a revamp. Probably a top hotel in its heyday. Rooms are small but comfortable. There was no bath but a shower which was spoiled. To be fair it was replaced fast. Great location.

Good value for money in a nice area of town

This hotel is suitable both for business- and holiday travelers. I stayed six days for holiday. I had a regular room, which was nice and spacious. If your room - like mine - has a backyard view, what you see is concrete and rubble, so better keeping the curtains closed. The room, bed, bathroom, mini bar and TV is everything you'd expect from a good, but not luxurious, hotel. WiFi is free, pretty fast and stable.

The pool area is nice and has a separate children's pool. The lounge areas are spacious.

The hotel is located in the Kemang area, which is one of the nicer parts of Jakarta. There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. There is a multitude of places to shop, including a shopping mall about 10 minutes walk away.

Breakfast includes a fine selection of Indonesian and Western food. The buffet is good but not exceptional.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

POSITIVE
- Good value for money.
- Functional Internet connection.
- Spacious.
- Nice pool area.
- Located in a nice area of town.

NEGATIVE
- Overpriced hotel restaurant (twice as much as comparable restaurants in the area, three to five times as much as local food courts).
- Some overpriced mini bar items (up to 10 times the price in the grocery store).

CONCLUSION
Good value for money in a nice area of town. I'd stay here again.
