Overall a great stay. Fabulous location, kids loved the pool. The greenery is so good! Much better than most hotels. Breakfast was nice (not amazing, though). Some things are getting a bit run down, but I imagine maintenance in the tropics is pretty challenging.

We love Hotel Diuwak! Great location in such a cute and friendly town. Feels very private, yet it's just a short walk to nice restaurants and shops and steps to the beach. Rooms are clean, air conditioning and water works well, the pool is lovely, breakfast is plentiful and delicious. This was our 2nd time staying there, and we'll be back.

Infested with bedbugs. I’m nice. I forgave them and offered to just refund my money because no way I pay to be infested with hundreds of bites. Anyone want to see disgusting? Happy to post some gross photos. The staff is sweet. The grounds are adorable. They are all nice besides obviously the absolute worst owner who couldn’t even apologize.

The location is convenient and the room was comfortable. The internet service was not good. The breakfast service was limited and only ok. The pool looked dirty and there were construction workers all the time. The hotel is a nice hotel but the lack of attention to details and lack of quality make the experience only average.

It was the best. WE had one issue with hot water, and they immediately moved us to another room. The room was clean and the improvements being done to the property look like it's going to be even better. The staff worked long hours without complaint and were so positive. The property felt secure to the outside world.

The windows don't lock and can be opened from the outside. Someone tried to get into our room in the middle of the night multiple times. No staff is available during night time hours.

Lovely location, room was comfortable, but stand out was the friendly staff at breakfast. We didn't catch his name, but he was an excellent, told us about all the birds and showed us video of them and a sloth on his phone. Pool was nice too.

Convenient walk to beach. Enough parking, though might be crowded if everyone had a car. Room was big enough and fridge worked well.
Expected only continental breakfast from listing, but had pineapple, watermelon, then omelet one day, and the others rice/beans, scrambled eggs, plantains.
Did not make it for dinner. Brewery next door was good.
Pool was clean and refreshing. Not many chairs around it though.
The front area was probably nice when it was new.

The hotel location is very convenient, the staff is very kind, the green areas and pool is well maintained. Breakfast was good. However my only big complaint will be the mattress. I have never slept in a harder mattress than the one in here. It was like sleeping in the floor and the two nights my bf and I slept here were pretty rough.

Refund due to landslide and road closure.

We were stranded due to weather condition and landslide, it was impossible to reach the area. We tried two routes and drove 13hrs but still we couldn’t make it to the hotel. I would like them to refund me just like the other hotels in the area affected by the flooding and road closure.

This property has no staff in down time . They are not willing to open dining room and cook dinner as offered . They have no ice even when asked for ice the next day they still had no ice . Lazy staff . Not willing to check on things or offer any kind of help .

Location is superb! Walking distance to beach, restaurants and shopping. Pool was also nice. The property could use updating and repairs. Room was average and very dark with one window. The room bedding definitely needs updating. A/C worked great. Priced a bit high, but overall had a good stay and can't beat the great location.

The beach is quite rocky. The pool isn’t very clean full of debris and bugs from the trees. The wifi cuts out often. The rooms are super small, very dated and the “standard room” does not come With a fridge. The restaurant is also grossly overpriced for a salad.

The staff was very friendly and helpful at check in ((Alexander ✔️). The pool was lovely and the location is great for the beach and walkable into main area for multiple restaurant choices
I was very disappointed that there was no WiFi in my room and I had to leave my area to use my phone. I would have appreciated being able to access WiFi in a cool room instead of intense heat outside. Some rooms were within range of WiFi so you may want to request if needed.
I couldn’t adjust the shower temp as the control was out of my reach…..and I’m 5’4”.
The music from the pool area bar kept me awake most of the night but possibly this is a weekend issue.

Not bad, but not great. Pretty good for being by Dominical beach. Aren't many options. The rooms are very basic and dated. The grounds are okay. Restaurant is okay. Very short walk to the beach. Also not far to the main shopping area. So it's convenient.

May be years ago the property was nice, but now the territory is dirty, the wooden tables in restaurant are black of dirty. We have stayed three nights, and nobody cleaned the room and changed the towels, but the envelope “for tips” was laying on the table from the first day. Mattress on the bed was collapsed, sleeping in this bed was like sleeping on the floor. We were unhappy choosing this hotel and don’t recommend it to anybody. We have stayed in different hotels in Costa Rica, and this one was the worst.

This place tries to bill itself as a resort, but its on the lower end of a resort. They do have a pool, but not that great. There are a lot of birds here, so its a little noisy in the morning. The room was just a basic room, nothing to talk about, just a place to sleep. The free breakfast was just plain, compared to other places that I stayed at in CR. They had plenty of parking here and we felt safe.

Can’t wait to go back!

First of all, if you’re looking for an airport Hilton this isn’t it. If your looking for a Costa Rican adventure in the jungle when book your stay immediately! Grounds are beautiful, pool is epic, breakfast is great, proximity to the beach is premium. Like pretty much everywhere I’ve stayed in Costa Rica (outside San Jose) you might find the occasional lizard or crab patrolling nearby, but that’s because you’re surrounded by jungle and beach. And maybe all the plumbing doesn’t work perfectly, that’s nothing to be bothered by. We absolutely loved hanging out in their beautiful pool, shopping the market a few steps away, walking to dinner at a nearby soda, and enjoying a short walk to the beach. Plus close drives to Uvita and Nauyaca waterfalls. The staff in pleasant and welcoming. We were so impressed, our next trip will include a longer stay.

If you're looking for a traditional \"Hotel\", this is likely not the bet option for you. This is more like staying at someone's family estate. Very homely. The owners and family live on the property, although they don't interact very much with guests. The place is quiet during the day, evening hours are louder b/c of the nearby bar which hosts live band. The location is great, close access to beach and town. The property must have been beautiful when it was newer, the grounds have so much potential, it's in need of some consistent maintenance and landscaping staff. I'd stay here again for the location. Morning breakfast is consistent and good.

Friendly, helpful staff and convenient location near Dominical Beach made this a pleasant stay for me. Dominical is a \"Bohemian\" destination with an organic food store, a \"healthy options\" (including vegan) restaurant, a yoga studio, a fruit and smoothie shop, a dive shop, surf and adventure excursion shops, and more traditional Costa Rican restaurants and gift shops. Sunsets on Dominical Beach are not to be missed.

Won’t stay here.

We arrived and they placed us in a room that there were people working right outside our window. Right when we got there a worker started to discuss with the person checking us in how it may have water seeping into the bedroom by the window. Which explains why the inside smelt like mold. And because they were working right outside, we decided to head out from the hotel to try to see if there was anywhere else to stay. Which luckily we found a different place and cancelled the other nights we would have stayed here (we still paid for the first night). When we returned to the hotel to pack up, we tried to find where the mold smell was coming from. There was dust and mold on the hangers, mold in the bathroom and we lifted the sheets to find the mattresses to be disgusting. We then found a roach in the coffee maker. And then as we were packing up to move somewhere else, the kitchen sink started gurgling and then the whole room smelt like sewer. So glad we got another place to stay.
I usually don’t write reviews, but don’t want anyone to have the same experience we had. It was by far the worst place I have ever been in for the price they are charging. Hopefully they clean up the place because it is a great location in dominical.

As Lonely Planet says, this property is sorely in need of an update. The grounds are nice, but in need of care. Rooms are badly in need of renovation. if you want backpacker accommodations at premium price, this is your place. We saw the original room and were ready to eat the cost of the hotel and go somewhere else. We accepted an upgrade, but were still underwhelmed. Breakfast was good.

The lady who checked us in was jovial and made the process hassle free. She escorted us to our room, which was a nice touch. The reviews mentioned to stay away from the standard rooms, so we did. Our room was clean, comfortable and basic — not too small; beds were comfortable and squeak free. Pool setting is nice for a night swim.

On-site restaurant has good food, nice setting. Complimentary breakfast has a wonderful spread. Hotel is basically in the beach and in the center of Dominical. No need for a car because everything is in walk in walking distance.

Only complaint: they had water issues — sometimes no water came from the shower or taps. This was a temporary issue we unfortunately had to experience — ask for extra towels.

Very poor service and cleanliness

Nice grounds and pool. Dominical beach is right next door but quite dirty due to the amount of litter left by people camping.
However the room was very small and had not been cleaned properly. Our room was not changed and clean towels not given for 3 days until we asked. Apparently we were not given the door sign required to request cleaning - after we complained and our room finally cleaned we were still not given the door sign and had to request it. A polyester mix single sheet used on double bed as cover. Shower has wires exposed and have an electric shock when touched. Terrible water pressure, and the water cut out for a short while during our stay.
Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful - at odds with rest of Costa Rica who go out of their way to help. The reception staff do not seem to know any local info about transport or tour options and their is attitude is as if they are doing you a huge favour in bothering to respond to any questions.
Breakfast very small portions. If you are sat too near the bathrooms there is an unpleasant smell of drains.

Some of the staff was not friendly enough, Sol and the bar tender were the best.
The room was not ready at 2:00 pm. We had to wait an hour and a half to get it.
We lost our day checking in. The staff did not care much.
Restaurant super expensive.
Hotel is ok but too expensive for what it is.
We booked a quadruple room, but they charged us 48 dollars for the fouth bed! I didn't understand that.
The air conditioning dripped on top of my head.
They should work on staff traning and organizing when is high season.

Avoid standard room

Oof. First of all, if you have any issues with very, very strong scents, good luck. Walking into the room and leaving after ten seconds, the scents lingered on me for an hour after. The fan made noise. The bed was uncomfortable. There was a water pipe loudly spewing outside our door. Things kept falling on the roof or animals were walking, waking us up around three am and then around seven (it wasn't short sounds, they lasted a few min). The room was also extremely humid, and we couldn't see out the window (humidity was trapped be the panes). I woke up at least ten times throughout the night and it was a restless sleep. WiFi was spotty and only available in the room (which we avoided spending time in).

Pros- breakfast was decent. Location right next to the beach. Receptionist and breakfast lady were super nice. Grounds are quite nice.

The resort was awesome.. clean... beautiful... We LOVE Dominical.. and the restaurant and free breakfast was amazing.
The bed was on the harder side however and I do not sleep well on a hard bed.
I wish they would offer pillow toppers for the mattress.

Great Location, Not Great Service

Love Dominical and the hotel is a block from the beach and in a great location. Unfortunately the service, comfort and food is mediocre at best. The mattresses bottom out when you sit on them. The rooms were clean but smell a bit funky. The breakfast wasn't good. The real downer though is the service. Check in was good with Orlando the GM but breakfast wasn't very good and the lady running the kitchen is not friendly. She seems put out if you just walk in which is an issue when breakfast is included with your stay.
I don't think I'd stay there again. Could be a great place with a friendlier staff and some minor upgrades.

Nice pleasant hotel in a very good location close to the beach.

The rooms themselves are basic (no fridge, no safe and basic amenities, but no surprises based on the web description). The grounds and the pool area are quite pleasant and well maintained and a nice spot to spend some down time in with or without kids.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to address a paperwork issue that was not their fault). Chrystal and Fabien at the front desk in particular were very helpful in resolving our issue and throughout our stay and extremely patient. Great customer service.

No WIFI as advertised unless you sit in office or restaurant. Never cleaned rooms. Rooms are VERY small compared to posted pictures and nothing as nice. Office staff helpful but knew they lied in ads. Falling almond pods hitting steel roof will wake you many times in the night. Can't be helped but added to already being disappointed. Surfers very noisy early mornings outside your door. You won't sleep in. Restaurant staff very good. I never right negative reviews but this place was not worth the price.

The grounds were excellent and the location was perfect. 2 minute walk to the beach and Main Street businesses right around the corner. Wonderful pool. The negatives were the very small rooms, with no upgrade available despite only 25 per cent occupancy when we were there. Also the included breakfast was marginal at best. When we return we will choose another option despite the wonderful location

Went upgraded to a better room because all of the other ones were not avliable. The room was very nice and the property was beautiful. The room had a kitchen to use and a living room with a futon. The bedroom had a full and twin mattress and a door to close off the living room. The shower was not hot but like warm, good enough to take a shower. The pool was really nice and refreshing. There is a lot of wildlife on the grounds. We saw lots of iguanas and even a Tucan feasting on fruit in one of the palm trees. Overall I would definitely stay here again. You even recieve a free breakfast every morning which is very good.

Hotel has a very nice pool, comfortable bed and a nice bathroom but the the shower was cold.

hotel grounds are set in a tropical garden with a swimming pool/waterfall at the end of the hotel premise road;.... good breakfast every morning provided by hotel staff;.... close to bus stop to nauyaca falls, or to Quepos direction or to Uvita direction......five minute walk to main beach area at lifeguard tower....all the restaurants, tourist shops, local supermarket just minutes away.......this hotel will cost higher than the many hostels nearby, but with the comfort at either the cabanas or the 2 story type rooms I've seen on the hotel grounds, this is worth the price of admission

Dominical Pacific Coast charmer

An excellent hotel close to the beach. A little hard to find but worth the effort. Front desk efficient and helpful. English only not a problem. Nice pool and ocean swimming -- great breakfast. Very close to paved Route 243 if going to Route 2. Excellent restaurant recommendation.

Great hotel! Perfect location

Had a really great stay in Dominical at Hotel Diuwak! Location was fantastic, just a couple minutes walking distance from the small town center and from the beach. Very nice, clean rooms. Breakfast area was super inviting with a high-ceilinged building and ambient music. Service was excellent. Pool was great and the seating area in the common areas were comfortable near the pond and bridge/garden area. If anything, the only issue was the WiFi, which was very poor in the room, but worked well near the reception area

Pictures are much nicer than the real thing

We stayed two nights. A lot of little things happened. Had to ask for a bulb for the lamp , no hot water first night, electricity went out several times, internet was very spotty. We had a coffeemaker and coffee the next morning, but had to buy the coffee after the first one. Housekeeping was very slow. There were maybe 5 rooms occupied. Grounds were in need of much maintenance.

Good choice for a stay on the coast

The room was great, the breskfast omelette was made freshly, the location was central and the staff really nice. If the weather had neen nicer i could also have enjoyed the pool. Dominical didn't seem to have alot to offer, but it was rather low season.
