Set in beautiful surroundings with lovely pool and gardens. Handy evening shuttle to town. Helpful staff provided massage and transport suggestions. Bungalows are somewhat dated and showing age, especially the bathrooms.

Terrible maintainance.

The room was not well maintained, probably not used a long time during Covid. We heard rats running around on the ceiling having their own 'party' at night, and we could not sleep.

The property is gorgeously rampant with beautiful vegetation. Manager Som and Nuria and staff make you feel like you have personal attendants. Restaurant is excellent. This place deserves a Ten Star rating on a scale of 1-5.
It’s the real thing. It’s why you came to Thailand.

We fall in love with Fern Resort

Amazing resort surrounded by nature. A private bungalow is spacious and well appointed but nothing fancy. Just simple, clean and very comfortable. We had a very good night sleep. We met the owner and she’s very friendly. We stayed there on Christmas Eve and she offered us complimentary fruit cake which was very delicious. The resort also arranged a Bonfire which used to grill fresh sweet corn and sweet yam. We really had a great time that night. Staffs were also friendly and helpful. Plenty of selections for breakfast (we opted for breakfast when booked). Overall I would recommend Fern Resort either for a couples or family with kids for those who plan to visit Mae Hong Son. Forgot to mention that they have 2 swimming pools. One located in the middle of the resort and another one that overlook the resort’s vegetable farm with Mountain View.

Serene, nature Eco setting located at edge of large national park. Beautifully landscaped with lush fauna, tropical trees and ferns. This is a resort to relax, rest and replenish the soul. Great nature trail to hike on adjacent to resort.

Magnifique situation dans un jardin luxuriant. Calme absolu près d’un cours d’eau et au milieu de rizières.
Les pavillons sont par contre vieillissants, surtout au niveau des sanitaires qui sont limites. La literie elle aussi est très en deçà de se que l’on trouve habituellement en Thaïlande.
Par contre très bonne cuisine sur place.

This resort is an eco resort just outside of the main town situated on the edge of a nature reserve. A lovely place very relaxing and a good place to stay for further trips. There is also a shuttle bus into town which is well worth a visit

Dont pass up your chance to stay here

This resort is amazing. We just stumbled upon it while riding motorcycles and instantly fell in love. This is a true gem that you shouldn't pass up. There is something wrong with the rating system showing 2.5 stars. This resort is at least a solid 4+ star.

Our rooms are fine but amenities look cheap with poor quality. The egg station and rice soup at breakfast are good but other dishes and selections for coffeee and tea need significant improvement.

Most beautiful resort ever.

Great place to stay when in Mae Hong Son. You feel like you’re in a different world, but a nice one that is! If you’re not a good walker, then request a cabin close to the lobby. Would definitely recommend this to my friends.

Lovely eco hotel situated 10 minutes outside if Mae Hong Song down a small village road. Beautifully landscaped with two pools, the second an infinity pool newly inaugurated which uses a state of the rt filtration system that is eco friendly to the adjacent rice farm.

Excellent staff, literally in the jungle.

Fern Resort has the sweetest staff and wonderful food at their on site restaurant, however if you get squeamish from bugs and lizards, this may not be the place for you. The rooms are huts in the thick of the jungle on the Mae Hong Son loop, they do a good job of making you comfortable but there is only so much a staff can do to keep these creatures out.

Overall beautiful resort with plenty of space and views for great photos and memories.

My stay at Fern Resort was incredible. The food, service and scenery was spectacular. This was my second visit and I plan to come again! The view of the sunset over the rice paddy fields is picture perfect!

The hotel is located quite far from town, however, there is a free shuttle service 3 times a day. If you want some quiet, relaxing time then this is the place, it's very peaceful and the surrounding area is very beautiful. The staff are delightful, especially the lady who owns the place (who's name I didn't get) and they obviously take pride in the resort. Breakfast was good, a little more selection would be nice, but it wasn't an issue. Overall, very good and I would stay here again.

Great getaway!

The Fern Resort isn't hard to access from Mae Hong Son, but it's far enough away that you feel totally removed. At first I was irritated that I had to go to reception, the bar, or the restaurant to get wifi (and I didn't have cell reception on DTAC when I was there) ...but then I realized that's *exactly* the point. It was relaxing to wake up without messages or emails. It rained when I was there, and even when it wasn't raining, there was almost constant thunder. It was lovely and peaceful. I can't wait to go back.

Gorgeous grounds, fun activities, friendly staff.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful! My only regret was not being able to enjoy it longer. My boyfriend and I drove up from Mae Sariang and the hotel was not clearly marked from the main hwy coming in to town from that direction. After much driving around we arrived at our destination. The hotel is about 5-10 km out of the town. The room was amazing and we enjoyed the sunset bar. However, we wished that it stayed open a little later than 7pm.

We loved our two-night stay at Fern Resort and Mae Hong Son in general. It was simply so refreshing to come to Fern Resort. The best part about the resort is set in the loveliest surroundings - a rice field in front of our cottage, the mountains far ahead always misty in the morning - everything was verdant. You will always hear the sound of water flowing in this resort, which we found to be soothing. Moreover, the place was so natural and unpretentious, but excellent in all regards.

Service was great. Everyone was friendly and warm. Even the driver they hired for us to see the sunflower fields (2.5 hours away) was kind and helpful.

Just two things to remember before you book:
- There's limited shuttle service to town, but we found this adequate. After you've explored MHS (which takes a day), it's far more pleasurable to stay in the resort (that's what resorts are for, aren't they?). You'll appreciate the shuttle when you want to eat outside the resort. It costs about THB200 to go to town (6km away).
- No wifi in the room. Wifi is only available in the lobby and the restaurant. If you have a data plan on your mobile and you don't care about internet access, then it shouldn't be a problem.

Keeping these things in mind, you know what to expect. I highly, highly recommend Fern Resort. I told myself I'd go back to MHS (but taking Kan Air, not the minivan from Chiang Mai anymore haha) in the next two years. Go book, try to stay longer than 2 nights, and enjoy! :)

Remote, comfortable, and friendly

Fern is supposed to be an \"eco-resort\" and apparently was build with subsidies. It is 7 kilometers out of Mae Hong Song and in a large lush jungle setting but not luxurious. The cabin was quite large, the bed was comfortable and large, the AC was strong enough to reduce both the humidity and temperature, and it had a nice porch (but not screened in); it had no refrigerator, and the light bulbs were too weak to overcome the dark interior. The wifi was weak or non-existent in most places. The staff was friendly and helpful. Food was average. The \"welcome\" drink was not free but only priced lower. Overall, the few days and nights there were relaxing and away from a city's noise.

Relaxed down time

I spent 4 days at this resort in low season (March) in a double creekside bungalow for single occupancy. Clean, simply furnished rooms with private balcony under shade of trees but, as an ecoresort, no TV, landline or minibar in room. Air-con, drinking water and basic lobby Wifi provided free. About 5km from town of Mae Hong Son but free transfer from local bus station (or airport) and a shuttle to and from town 3 times a day if needed. Staff happy to help with ticketing for onward bus travel. Resort in lovely setting with rooms widely spaced amongst native Thai forest plants, ponds and streams, sounds of frogs and birds, lots of butterflies and dragonflies, almost no traffic noise. Nature trails in forest behind resort. Relaxing pool area with towels and sunbeds provided. Friendly, helpful staff; good English spoken on reception, resort employs local Karen people who, whilst not as polished as staff in larger resorts, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. On site restaurant serving complimentary breakfast and simple, reasonably priced Thai dishes at lunch, dinner. Tours to hill tribe villages etc. and/or trekking available but the main attraction is a quiet place to recharge.

Wonderful retreat in the mountains.

So nice sitting outside our suite, wandering the grounds, sipping beers in the terrace bar and hiking up the trail that it was difficult to leave the compound! The women who run everything are extremely attentive and always smiling. E stayed for a week, and could have stayed a month!

Note that the cabins themselves are not the four seasons: they are sparsely furnished, but they are beautiful and clean and comfortable.

Spent three nights at Fern Resort. Bungalows are clean and comfortable. Lots of hot water in the bathroom! Restaurant serves good buffet breakfast with Western or Asian choices. Resort is tucked in an idyllic little valley in the jungle. You can walk to nearby National park.
Free shuttle bus to airport and town of Maehongson.

This resort is a little out of the town, however, a free shuttle service is provided. The rooms are clean and comfortable and amenities are also great. The food is much better than you usually expect for hotel food and the rice bar is a great way to end the evening overlooking the rice fields. Service was amazing from the hill tribe people who run the facility.

Lovely retreat

Loved our stay here. Rooms are showing some signs of age and the beds were a bit hard but the place is a real natural gem. Beautifully maintained grounds, clean pool, polite staff, great service, and decent food. The hotel transfer service was very reliable but could have done with a late afternoon return. Not a major problem though and we actually split our time between sightseeing and relaxing at the resort. Probably the highlight of our recent three week Thailand trip.
