Overall a beautiful place to stay but there are a few issues that keep this from being a great hotel. Mainly the mattress (which is cheap and very uncomfortable) and the shower, which is barely there and does not even give enough water pressure to wash your hair. It just could have been such a fabulous place to stay.

Graves mountain lodges is cozy, down to earth and has plenty to do. An area rich in history and natural beauty with none of the commercialization of typical resorts. We loved our cabin stay at wild wind - a refurbished old school house along the river. Very peaceful and had everything you could need. Great location close to Shenandoah and Rapidan River. There are plenty of activities and we loved the farm animals and the ability to hike around the grounds. The only critique would be that the bathroom heater didnt work so it was quite cold in that room. Food is a bit pricey for what you get but we liked the dedication to sourcing locally. We would definitely reccomend and would go back!

The room was not clean and smelled moldy. The ceiling had multiple stains and splatter throughout. The baseboards were filthy as was the tub fixtures. There was duct tape holding down the carpet at the entrance to the room. The best thing was the view, breakfast and festival.

First time visiting and will be back. Staff was friendly, and welcoming. Food was delicious. The night we stayed they had a blue grass band playing. Lot of things to do here! There's a great winery/brewery down the road, called Blue Quartz. Food and Music were great there too!

At first, I wasn't so sure. But the staff were amazing, our accommodation was fine but lacked a dresser - we only had 1 night stand and 1 chair. Although, we made our way. The food was excellent and the selection at the buffet gave lots of healthy choices and the chef was so helpful on the gluten free options! We are looking forward to going back and taking more advantage of the activities including horse back riding and hiking! they even had yoga classes and other fun activities.

The lodge is charming and has beautiful views. Our old farmhouse suite 2 AC wasn’t working, and their maintenance team tried their best to fix it. As they weren’t able to, they installed a window unit for us. We would come back here!

Bucolic hidden gem near hiking, and a pool!

Wonderful lowkey, rustic lodge. Everything you need to relax and get away from it all. Wonderful food, apple and peach wine, made on the farm was delectable. The buffet dinners were 5 star i thought. Balcony off room and a rocking chair every morning and night was a wonderful place to drink my coffee.

We are from right outside of DC so this was a few day getaway for us. It was just what we had been looking for and just as you would think. It is rustic on a large piece of land with a working farm, etc.. But at the same time there is a very nice, large, outdoor pool, picnic tables, outdoor games, trails for walking and nearby hiking. The farmhouse restaurant was nice dinner for us. We enjoyed the views and the local wine. One night we went to the DeCard Vineyard just down the road on one of the farm's former apple orchards - and that was just lovely. On our way back at just dusk, we had a show put on for us by all the local deer in the meadows. We stayed in the Itty Bitty room in the lodge - yes, it is rustic as it should be, a little musty and nothing fancy. But on the plus side, the AC in the room cranked and worked very well, the hot water worked well, and the TV worked well with a ton of stations available. There is a little deli / store just down the road from the property where we had awesome sandwiches, shakes, and any supplies we needed. Check the hours as it closes on the early side so you'll want to bring your own water, etc.. if you are arriving too late to stop by. We will go back for sure. If you are looking to get away, relax, get close to nature and enjoy the mountains and nearby trails, you will love this place.

It is indeed a very quiet and beautiful place, it was our first trip to a place like this, my kids really enjoyed visiting the farm, walking by the river and sleeping in a wood house! The bed downstairs really needs an upgrade, the matress is no longer good for a quality rest. The kitchen is really well equiped with almost everything you may need. The place was really clean, the TV works great and having our own real fireplace inside was almost magic! Overall a great experience, we will for sure come back!

Relaxing stay surrounding beautiful mountains

This was my second trip to the Graves Lodge and I enjoyed the quiet environment, beautiful fall colors all around, and delicious (and generous) breakfast and dinner at the lodge restaurant. Would suggest to walk around this beautiful multiple acre farm and some orchids and try their Apple pie milkshake at the Graves Dali just 2 minutes drive from the lodge. Would certainly visit again.

A gorgeous property in the side of the mountains. I was extremely impressed with how big and beautiful the property is, as well as how many activities they have. There's a creek cutting through the property, and multiple areas of lodging. While it is right below Skyline Drive, it is about an hour to get to the entrance. The hotel provides a handy booklet and binder on information on the property and I love the inclusions about the wildlife in the area.

We weren't impressed with the limited buffet they had during our stay, but as we left and couldn't find anywhere else to go at the base of the mountain, we came back. It was a busy night and they squeezed us in, I believe the local schools were celebrating Prom, so we didn't complain. Our waitress was friendly, but very busy. The rest of the staff that we interacted with wasn't particularly friendly.

Our room was on the furthest back lot and the road really needs a lot of work. Unfortunately one of our tires was ruined leaving, we couldn't dodge multiple pot holes/roots at once. The room was nice, but small. It's really just enough room for a bed and side tables. I loved the aesthetic with the wooden logs on the interior, and appreciated that they provided basic shower necessities in a nice organza bag.

The people in our building were in a fishing trip together, and they were loud, rude, and woke us up around 6am. Not the hotel's fault, but it didn't help our experience. We'll try them again in the future and will update.

Definitely would stay here again

We had a wonderful time here. The house had everything we needed. The family really enjoyed the ability to go horseback riding. Hotels.com said this was 15 mi from the caverns it's actually an hour away but it was an unexpected pleasure, beautiful countryside, and many things that you can partake of especially in the weekends but we quite enjoyed ourselves.

The staff was excellent friendly, helpful and we enjoyed staying there. We did not eat at the restaurant as we were in the area for a function. The rooms were rustic which was what we were expecting and the view spectacular. The only areas that were a tad bit disappointing were the grounds of the orchard, store, and extended areas were rundown. I believe that bouncing from the pandemic may have hit a little hard. The place and the people were definitely worth a revisit and I pray the extended grounds get face lift.

The property is excellent. Lots to do! The room was clean and nice. Area is quiet. We ate breakfast which was excellent and dinner which was ok. The wait staff was forgetful (plates, etc.) and would walk right past you as you waited to be seated. They were young and perhaps could use more training. The staff was not very friendly with the exception of one lady who we saw at breakfast! She was wonderful! Very personable! After we were served the waitstaff disappeared. All in all a great place for families, great pool and an endless list of things to do!

This was my second stay here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Accommodations are modest but clean and the views are amazing. Many breweries, wineries within a 30 minute drive- most less. On site hiking that can actually go into the Shenandoah Mountains if you have the stamina. Great couple spot- fantastic family spot- a little slow this time of year but many Holiday events in the area. I especially love the fire pits outside most of the lodges where guests gather.

The office staff were wonderful and friendly. The restaurant staff, not so much. The buffet was okay. We loved the little store down the street! Best breakfast sandwiches and coffee!

We loved being out in the heart of the country surrounded by mountains. We felt very welcomed and so cosy. The rooms were clean, well stocked with plenty of soaps, towels and an added addition was the cute towel bear on the bed. Beds were comfortable and heat worked well. We arrived at around 6.30pm & there was live music, and a firepit at the main lodge with cornhole boards. The price to eat at the buffet restaurant was a little out of our price range so had to dash down to the deli as we were told it closed at 7pm but when we got there it only closed at 9pm. Had the best chicken salad sandwich there! The only negetives were that We struggled to get into our room, key unlocked fine but latch was a battle to open, took us about 5 min to eventually get it open, then left it ajar when unloading our car. Also when we went to check out at 6.45am the office did not open until 7.30am so had to wait. Finally had to give the keys to one of the restaurant workers. Would have been nice to have a lockbox outside to put them in for those checking out early. We would definitely stay here again and found it much better than staying in a busy town. Lots of farm activities for kids to do and beautiful surroundings.

They were a bit do dah ,,not much explanation of how the property was run . Upon arrival we had to go up a flight of steps to register . There is a handicap entrance but was clearly marked for handicap. There was only buffet and no menu was offered . No hours posted and when we checked out the office was to be open and we had to leave our keys in a doorway .It was ,clean ,,quiet ,,safe and the room was nice .. We did like the setting and was happy to have the experience . The cost was fair except the dining which was totally overpriced considering the service and food we had .

Graves Mountain is in a beautiful location. The property is family owned and they do a nice job of maintaining all areas. There are a few activities on the site to participate in if you choose to stay close the lodge such as hiking, swimming, or horseback riding to name a few. Dad and daughter enjoyed their visit!!

Beautiful pastoral location... we just sat in the rocking chairs and enjoyed the peacefulness. The Saturday evening live bluegrass music was perfect background and evening bonfire and smores a great touch. Dinner buffet a little pricey, but food was plentiful and good.
Thanks for a great visit...we'll be back.

I absolutely loved the staff and the area of this place. The home style cooking was some of the best we have ever had. The surroundings were very scenic and we loved it! However, the room itself was overrun by stink bugs and ladybugs. My husband and I have been all over the world and have never seen such an unfortunate infestation of stink bugs. We spent two nights with our scared 12 year old daughter killing over 100 bugs which were everywhere including our beds, clothes, bathroom, the lights, everywhere! Our wonderful housekeeper tried to help by coming in the first night to vacuum the dead bugs and left us a handheld vacuum for the live ones which was quickly filled. For only this reason we will never go back to stay but we would return for the food and the beautiful scenery and the area itself.
