Kind of okay, but some of the staff were really bothered if you need anything or ask them a question. At the pub the staff were a bit weird and made us feel not welcomed. Most of them looked very tense and wanted you to get out of their faces quickly. Some of them were good. They should leave more milk bags in the rooms.

Such a warm, fun and friendly atmosphere, with a great bar/restaurant and personal service. The building has that old, coastal charm, an interesting history and a great location near the Red Funnel ferry. Enjoyed walking the city and taking the chain ferry to Osbourne House and the Needles. Would love to go back and spend more time there and would choose the same hotel.

A caution to anyone with mobility issues. The rooms are on the 1st to 3rd floors, the steps are steep and there is no lift. The staff were very obliging helping me with my bag, but it was still a bit difficult manging two flights of stairs. Plumbing in my bedroom was a bit dicey, but I guess it's an old building

What a great find .. great location . Staff amazing go above and beyond.
As many places these days all needs a bit of upgrade to building and rooms BUT the comfort especially the beds !! And the friendly hard working staff more than make up for it ..we felt relaxed, welcome and valued . Especially our not so well dog skye who was truly spoilt ...

This is not the first time we have stayed at a Greenking pub amd hope as a company you reward your staff .. they are amaxing ....

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious, with a large double bed, wardrobe, desk and chair and a large tv. The bathroom was a bit small but functional. Our room had no view of the water, which was disappointing as this pub is located at the ferry dock. The location is great! Right on the High street of Cowes.

Badly need of a refurb

Room itself was clean, but the shower area was very bad. The grouting in the tiles was stained brown as was the silicone around the shower base. We would not shower in there. The communal areas are badly in need of refurbishment. We complained to the manager next morning about the shower and he told us that the hotel was due to shut for a refurbishment, but it had been delayed by Greene King who own it. He apologised and offered a full refund to his credit. It was not just our room, as my brother also had a room in which the shower was in the same state, after paying for an upgraded room. He also got a refund.

Dog friendly pub with fabulous friendly staff

The rooms are comfortable and had all the facilities you would want. The rooms are a little tired but with such a busy island you’ll only be sleeping and showering in it. Staff extremely helpful and welcoming including to our dog who they treated like royalty. Evening meal very good and breakfast which I paid for in advance was impressive. Great location. A little noisy at pub closing time but should be expected as I booked a hotel above a pub!!! Would recommend for all

We were greeted with a friendly welcome by the host whom also offered to carry bags up to our room, greatly appreciated.
The room and bathroom had a magnificent view over the harbour and we then realise this is a gem of a place to have a weekend break from it all.
That evening we relaxed with a wonderful meal, excellent wine and local music.
That night slept exceedingly well in a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was beyond expectation and seriously spoilt for choice, although it was busy we did not have to wait too long for our feast.
We really appreciated the service provided by the staff, always happy, attentive and above all … friendly.
Thank you so much for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable.
We will no doubt return soon for another weekend away

Convenient but tired hotel with comfortable beds

It gave me everything I needed. A comfortable bed and a quiet, clean room to stay in whilst visiting a poorly friend. The staff were pleasant, kind and helpful and my room was moved when I pointed out the difficulty with the bath tap. One young person behind the bar was somewhat off-hand when we thought we might have a meal but changed our minds because the table in the bar was dirty and two glasses had lipstick still on them. I feel proper training is needed here. The hotel itself was very tired - a hot tap that was furred up on the bath/shower that I couldn't turn on, the chain missing from bath and sink plugs making it very difficult to drain the bath - it would have been impossible for even slightly arthritic hands. I was also disconcerted to find that there was no fire exit route map displayed in the room and if there had been a fire, and the stairwell filled with smoke, I am uncertain how I would have got out. I understand that a refurbishment is happening soon and I presume that most of these matters will be addressed.

Lovely old building right in the heart of Cowes. Rather faded glory and needs some attention to things like grouting and pitted chrome taps, and the window would only open a small way, meaning the room was very hot.
There is NO parking with this property, so don’t travel with heavy cases! Parking is 8-10 mins away. Food was good and me in host was lovely.

The room was dirty when I checked in - the bathroom, in particular was filthy, there was mould in the shower, the fittings and shower screen have clearly not been cleaned for a long time and had considerable build up of water marks and calcium. Other shower fittings were disgusting and the light fitting directly above the shower was hanging loose. The carpet had not been hoovered in the room and the kettle was not clean.

I reported this to reception, Emily who was working was the only saving grace in this issue and she upgraded me to a larger room which was cleaner but still not particularly clean.

The whole hotel is looking very run down and sorry for itself and needs updating.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left all the staff we helpful and kind and friendly. The dining room is beautiful and dog friendly (not that we had our dogs but it was so nice to see them snuggled on their beds <3) there is even a food menu for dogs! Our dinners were delicious and cooked fresh to order. The bedroom was elegantly furnished and we had a lovely view of the harbour. The bathroom could use an update but all perfectly functional. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great view from room 20 however the room was in poor condition, with paint flaking everywhere, wall caving in, rusty things in the bathroom, loose windows, shower head, light shades and desk dirty. Whilst the sheets and towels were really clean, the room just felt less so and a bit run down and unloved. It was the cheapest room in Cowes for that night and very quiet overnight, despite the ferry terminal, so very 50/50!

The hotel accommodation was attached to a busy pub, rooms were very outdated and corridors leading to rooms upstairs were dirty, big mucky prints on doors. Actual room was very small, hot and stuffy, had just enough space to walk around the bed. A tiny fan was provided but the window needed to be open which caused lots of noise. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls and ceiling. The door to the room was not very secure when locked and could easily have been opened with a strong enough nudge. After a weekend staying at a fesitval we had hoped for a relaxing and restful night before a long journey home, this was not the right place for us. We were woken by beer delivery very early. Got up and left, no reception around this morning to express our disappointment to. Food and staff in the pub were good but would not stay again.

The Fountain is convenient and centrally located for everything in West Cowes. Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room faced the street and some noisy late night bars. There were two fans provided, much needed as there was little natural airflow from the one window. A little dated but bathroom was more modern.

This hotel is in a great location in the centre of the town. Some noise from outside but not too bad. No onsite parking but a couple of payable carparks nearby. The room was very big, a bit dated but very clean. It had tea, coffee & a nice touch of a biscuit too! The staff were all very very nice, friendly & helpful. The breakfast was lovely & plentiful. Overall a nice place to stay.

The staff here are absolutely fantastic, so friendly and helpful. We could not get our room to lock, so they immediately changed rooms for us.
It is an old building, so dont expect ultra modern and it could probably do with some decoration, but that is not what you go for. Very handy for red jet ove4 to Southampton. As our visit was during covid times, the place is being constantly cleaned, so we did feel safe.
We had breakfast, and i think we managed to work our way through most of the extensive options available, and they were great about accommodating changes. A couple evening meals in and had fantastis steak there. For gin lovers it would take some effort to work through the 40+ versions available.

I’ve been staying here for many years and have sadly decided not to book a stay there again. The guest rooms and corridors/landings are in an appalling state of neglect. The place has recently reopened after 3 month of enforced closure; this would have been a perfect opportunity to spruce it up. An opportunity not taken.
