My wife and I have discussed how we should respond.
We could not wish for a better, central location. Everything was just a stroll away. First, we thought the staff we met - the young ladies at the reception desk - were polite and immensely helpful, although the one who showed us on arrival the \"upgraded\" room carefully avoided its drawbacks. An example was the toilet which was located in a cupboard. Otherwise the room was comfortable with a good view of the square outside. We were only on the first floor but the lift was a bit temperamental, yet it took us down to excellent breakfasts each morning.

We loved our recent 5 night stay ,a perfect location with helpful friendly staff. The hotel rooms are small and would benefit from a little update but the one we booked had a beautiful ocean view which was amazing. The only thing we would recommend is a kettle in the room so that guests could make a tea or coffee when they wanted.

Our stay was perfect! We were a family of 4 traveling together and the girls had their own space in the room. The staff was extremely helpful. Parking was just beneath the plaza and priced reasonably. The plaza offered many dining options and shopping was just up the hill. We were close to the beaches so the car could stay parked for the entire weekend. Definitely would stay there again!

Wonderful staff and great service, the front desk ladies along with the restaurant downstairs are lovely and will ensure all your needs are met. The rooms are typical European hotel rooms, very tiny with minimal amenities. I was surprised to find no water, water glasses and basic bathroom amenities (we did not request them and sourced them ourselves).

Hotel is in the perfect location, right in the heart of Biarritz. Parking is right nearby and they will give you a pass to use it for a day-rate. Overall, great experience, would just suggest adding more amenities to the rooms.

\"Superior\" room anything but superior. Read on...

VERY DISAPPOINTED with our room. Booked 2 nights 'Superior Double Room with Balcony', but the room was DEFINITELY NOT \"SUPERIOR\";

Paper thin walls / no sound proofing (very disturbed sleep), small bathroom (mouldy shower cubicle), Ridiculous open wardrobe (no door), portable clothes rail located in front of wall mirror, missing bedside table, VERY TINY TV with only 5 working channels (all local French) and no sat channels.

CONCLUSION; hotel location is great, but room quality questionable. There are certainly much better hotel options in Biarritz.

There are no on-site parking in France, however parking is very close by. Bit of a pain in the a—s since you must lugg your bags up stairs to the landing. Great location and beautiful views. Great restaurants and ice cream close by. Easy walk to beach and great Golf nearby. Room is clean and bed was comfortable. I’ll stay longer next time.

Great views and excellent location for a trip to Biarritz. The parking garage is beneath the hotel with perfect access to the ocean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Several to go restaurants near by. Because of curfew we had a great dinner on our balcony.

The location was fantastic. Right in the main square and 5 min walk to the beach. There are ocean views available
Annoyingly, the air con is controlled at the main reception so you need to tell them what temp you want. If you wake up hot / cold in the night, you would have to call down to reception to change the temp, or turn it off in the room.
There was no bottled water included which felt very tight for a $260 room! We really are paying for location.
When I was standing on a stool to put my hand over the vent to see if the AC was working, I could see heaps of dust, so my thoughts on cleanliness were divided. Clean bed and surfaces that are visible but not a lot of attention to detail.

You also need to book parking in advance which we didn’t realise so that was full but the underground parking in public car park is only €16 for 24 hours, and this is the same car park for the hotel anyway.

We had a simple breakfast which was nice and fresh so no complaints here and overall we enjoyed our stay.

As a regular hotel guest I have experienced many standards and for the price I just get it packet that... “Je ne sais quoi’

No car Sunday in Biarritz which the hotel didn’t tell us prior to our stay, even though it happens the first Sunday of every month. Took us over an house to find the hotel & car park, in the end we parked elsewhere & walked. Hotel reception was in the middle of a building site as was our bedroom, which we later found out. Building work didn’t finish until gone 11pm on Sunday evening & started again at 8.30 the following morning. Right outside our room door. This went on all day and Involved the water supply to our room being shut off. Apparently the whole hotel had no water. There was no mention of the building works on their website and it wasn’t mentioned in any of their emails prior to our stay. This wasn’t acceptable and if we had known we wouldn’t have booked here.

Great location, so close to the sea and the city centre, in a lovely square. However, the room and bathroom are quite small and the hotel a bit old - which makes it quite cute but you can hear everything in the other rooms. It’s a great option for one or a couple of nights, but probably wouldn’t recommend for a longer stay due to the lack of space and the noise.

Great experience at this hotel!

The service was amazing here! The front desk was staffed professionally with 2 or 3 multilingual receptionists. They helped me print out tickets, and freely shared their knowledge of Biarritz and the bus system.
The room was the nicest we stayed in during our 3 week European vacation. It was clean and had a nice little balcony with a view of the square and the ocean. My wife loved the bath tub a rarity in the area.
I felt they really did their best to make us feel welcome and our stay enjoyable.

We stayed for 4 nights and particularly enjoyed being close to the centre and beautiful beaches of Biarritz. We had a sea view room with small balcony which was lovely. Comfortable bed and mainly helpful staff. Would have appreciated more information on directions to nearby underground car park before booking in. Be warned. One way system on way in! It's before you see the hotel on the square. You just miss it if not careful!

Perfect boutique hotel to see Biarritz

This hotel was perfect for a quick visit to Biarritz. We were upgraded to an ocean view room without extra charges. There was a balcony overlooking the bay with a table and chairs. The bed and bedding were superb. The staff were very accommodating, and spoke excellent English, pleasantly tolerating our French. The location could not have been better to see the town.

A great location on the square with lots of restaurants, the ocean, the church and shopping all right at your doorstep.
The staff were very helpful, getting us a cab and answering questions.
The floors were warped in some areas and uneven to walk on.
The bath/shower was too high for my 85 year old father to step over. They offered to change him to a room with walk in shower for 40 euro more but we didn't want to pay the extra. So he took sponge baths instead. Also the show/bath has no curtain or door so we were restricted in our movements so as not to get water all over the bathroom because we weren't sure if the floors were ok getting wet.

Small, cute & tidy

This hotel is right in the town square, next to the cathedral. Though I had quite a big room this time, most of the rooms are on the small side. The hotel is very idyllic, playing on a nautical theme. Being next to the cathedral you will hear church bells during the late morning and during the day, but you can't ask for a more central location than this. Having breakfast outside, next to the cathedral, with the ocean as a backdrop, is just magnificent.

Location, Views and reception

This was our second holiday in Biarritz. We picked Hotel de l'Ocean because of its location. It is a 3 star hotel. We stayed 10 days. Biarritz, because of its location, architecture, beaches, surfing, restaurants and higher-class shops commands an extra premium. The views from balcony were great, especially in the morning. Our bed and pillows were really comfortable. Room well insulated. The toilet is off the hall and has no washbasin. You have to go through the bedroom to get to the sink. If you get up during the night you have to open and close three doors and two of them make a lot of noise A hand held shower is in the bath. Bah is high and towels flimsy. Wi-fi is erratic and times out . Username and password change every 24 hours. The lift was not working for the first two days and for the last day, Receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful. La Verina spoke fluent English and was a top class receptionist. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Biarritz and the location of the Hotel really helped in that regard.

Great Location...But Tough to Get To

The hotel is a solid 3-star hotel in an excellent location in Biaritz. However, it is bit hard to get to and there is absolutely no hotel parking. Guests arriving must pull into the public parking lot near the hotel and approach the hotel from there. If you miss it, it is necessary to negotiate a series of one way streets, traffic and pedestrians in order to get back to it. Took us about 20 minutes to get back to the hotel. Parking is 13 Euro per 24 hours. Air conditioning is a bit loud and is controlled from the front desk. Although there is no view I would suggest asking for a room away from the front of the hotel if you have trouble sleeping as things go late and start early in the square in front of the hotel.

Our room was very small as per the description given by the hotel but it was perfect for our one night stay.

It was clean and tidy, the wifi was working just fine. The decor in the reception area was nice.

The view from the window was lovely, old church and some of the sea side..

Staff were really pleasant except for the restaurant at the front. The guy who served us at lunch time was quite rude so we ended up leaving after he seemed annoyed that we'd asked for an English menu (they didn't have one) and he seemed more interested in setting tables.

Pour une chambre prestige, l’hébergement était très médiocre : odeur de remontées d’égout, confort sommaire, wc avec portes saloon (bonjour l’intimité !!), petit déjeuner passable, seule la vue sur l’océan était convenable.
Le pompom : le dîner festif du 31/12 (facture 100€/ personne et n’en valant pas plus que 30€ !!!) à peine digne d’un restaurant en bordure de nationale, …(salle de restaurant chauffée à 12• pour un réveillon, passé en doudoune)
Bref, séjour à oublier, passez votre chemin ….

Accueil très sympathique. Hôtel propre, calme. Chambre confort et propre, un +++ pour la salle de bien superbe. Bon petit déjeuner sucrée et salée, j'aurai juste aimé avoir plus de choix côté salé. L'hôtel est très bien placé et bon rapport qualité prix.

Jaime bcp le lieu mais l’hôtel est qd même un peu bruyant (salle de bain du voisin donne sur la tête de lit de la chambre occupée)
