Most of the employers were friendly and helpful. Night shift was very knowledgeable and accommodative. Restaurant staff provided great service.
It was called , but there are no portable heaters . Swimming pool and spa , but no robes or slippers in the rooms and not available upon request. That was disappointing.
Good location. Quiet , safe . Easy parking. Good food choices . Some front desk gals could use attitude adjustment.

Coffee provision in our room

On going to the reception on Sunday evening, I asked where we could get two more capsules of coffee for the coffee machine in our room. The reply we received from the receptionist was very poor and not what we would expect fron this hotel. The reply we received was 'There is no more free coffee, you will need to buy any further coffee from the bar. A very disappointing experience indeed.

I was there for 4 nights, for work, and it was great.
There is a nice park behind the hotel where you can run bike or walk. The gym and pool are great.
My room was nice, spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant at the hotel is great as well.

Stayed here for one night in a triple room on a road trip: clean refurbished room, good bed, nice bathroom, friendly staff. The rooms are a little walk from the check-in area. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant and a nice coffee in the bar on our way out.

Pleasant and Spacious Hotel

Right beside the A28 highway, this hotel was surprisingly calm with nicely appointed rooms and pleasant, welcoming staff. Van der Valk is a Dutch chain, but the quality of this hotel was way better than other chains. The restaurant was excellent, one of the best meals I have had for a long time and there was a choice of decent wine and local craft beers. I would definitely stay at a Van der Valk hotel again and look forward to doing so.

BSB in Assen

We went to watch BSB Superbikes in Assen, this hotel is in a great location. Walkable distance to Assen which is a lovely town. We drove to the TT circuit which is well signposted and has ample parking, I wouldn't walk as pavements are few ..but I would hire a bicycle to get to the circuit as the cycle paths are excellent .However parking was abs no problem so easy to take the car.
The Van Der Valk Assen is lovely very comfortable, rooms spacious spotless and very comfortable. Tea and coffee provided but not the best as only powdered crema provided and not enough if you want more than 1 cup each, you can get more when you ask for it! I had a small jug of milk which was perfect but the next couple of times I asked they gave little single pots which again don't hold enough for one cup so you never get enough.
Bar was very comfortable and the food very nice but a more limited menu however if you ask for something like soup which is on the main restaurant menu you can get it but u didn't discover this til our last night!. I feel they should.offer more options in the restaurant as it is a set deal at €29.50 pp for 3 courses, if you don't want 3 courses you can't eat in there, Buffet Breakfast is the same but €14.50. Whilst the evening meal.is not to bad value wise it is expensive if you don't want 3 courses! The breakfast is plentiful but I feel a little expensive especially if you don't eat a lot!

Lovely hotel with a free gym (from 10am to 10pm). The only downside is that breakfast was not included in the cost and was quite expensive to pay for it seperately in my opinion if you wanted it. Good bathroom with powerful seperate shower. Bed was comfortable. Ample free parking. Friendly staff.

Amazing Place to stay, Best Breakfast in Europe

This is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, well furnished and designed and the quality of the linens and bedding are top notch. Rounding out the accommodation is a fantastic bar for cocktails and coffee with a fireplace and great ambiance. Also a respectable restaurant which has some exceptional offerings. The breakfast Buffett is not to be missed as it is honestly the best breakfast I have had in ANY stay, ANYWHERE in the world. Staff is very helpful.

The only cons, asked for a wake up call which never happened and missed an important meeting. I was not cautious this trip and got a room with 2 single beds rather than a larger one.

This was a favorite stop for us on a small music tour of Holland. Compared to the other hotels we stayed at on our tour this was at the top of the list.The rooms are spacious, quiet and spotless,excellent wifi, free parking, and a killer breakfast buffet with eggs made to order and a large variety of options. Very helpful staff, we were allowed a late checkout, easy in and out and room to walk around outside. Highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here on a business trip. The location is just off the main freeway which was convenient. The room was very nice with a large bathroom, shower and tub were separate. Toiletries (shampoo, body wash, shower caps, soap) were included. The room was spacious and included a small patio. We also had the breakfast which was delicious. They had a chef making eggs to order, a variety of fruits, veggies, meats, pancakes, breads and yogurts. Coffee, tea and juice were also available. The only annoyance could be the freeway traffic if you are a light sleeper but the hotel provides earplugs if you ask. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others.

Probably the best in Assen

I have stayed here several times. On previous trips the décor was utilitarian, with very drab corridors and uninspired rooms. However, on my most recent trip it was very clear that a lot of work had been done to update and improve the hotel. The bathrooms and restaurant, in particular, were a great improvement and the food was excellent.

After riding 10 hours to get to assen for the motogp with a miss firing bike the hotel was a site for sore eyes! but when we got in to our room it was something else! the beds were huge and extremely comfy the bathrooms where spotless and a huge bath was just what was needed!

Make sure you check the bill

The hotel was generally good but marred by the fact that they overcharged me a whole day which was ammended but I failed to check the bill again. They put on items I had not consumed. Checking once is bad enough but having to re check bills I may as well do the job myself. This caused expenses claim problems once back to the office and wasted time.

Lovely hotel, good restaurant and bar. The only difficulty we had was actually finding the hotel as the hotel sign reads Hotel Assen and does not mention Van der Valk! Several guests that we spoke to during our stay had the same problem.

Not as good as we'd hoped

The room & bathroom were both spacious with plenty of storage space but the tiles in the bathroom needed re grouting and the room was in need of redecoration. Despite there being a full wall of window, the room was extremely dark as was the entire hotel - I can understand the subdued lighting in a restaurant at night but why in the rooms and corridors? The room supposedly had air conditioning but we couldn't find the control panel as described in the in room guide, resulting in an uncomfortably warm room at night - the sliding doors opened onto a communal balcony that ran the length of the building, so you couldn't leave it open in case some one came in. Although you couldn't hear anyone in the adjoining rooms ie the TV or people talking, the door mechanisms were extremely noisy - you just simply couldn't close them quietly and disturbed our sleep every night. Location of the hotel was excellent - near to the motorway exit & the Assen circuit which was the reason for our stay. Disappointing breakfast choice on the Monday compared with over the weekend, as some dishes were unavailable and the price was expensive

Assen - quiet town

We stayed in Assen to attend the Assen TT - MotoGP. Location to the track was great - it was an easy walk back to the hotel. The hotel is quiet, despite being a surprisingly large hotel. Besides the MotoGP there did not seem to be a lot to do in Assen and the town itself is not within easy walking distance. But the hotel was great - comfortable, clean, good breakfast.

Roomservice is good, rooms are very clean and nicely decorated!

Zoals bij eerdere overnachtingen bij Van der Valk hotels zijn de kamers prima en comfortabel. Het ontbijt is echt prima verzorgd met vriendelijke bediening. Personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Bij binnenkomst van het hotel voelt het al meteen goed aan. Locaties zijn ook altijd gunstig.

First time staying at a Van der Valk and was pleasantly suprised. High standard, clean and well-apointed rooms (apart from glass bathroom door - no one ever liked that).

Nette kamer met hele mooie badkamer. Alleen de bedden voor kleine kinderen zijn niet heel veilig. Lag wel een soort hekje voor het bovenste bed maar ook uit het onderste bed kan je van redelijk hoogte vallen. Verder tophotel met mooie wellness!

Prima hotel! Nette kamer en vooral een prachtige Spa met gratis toegang voor hotelgasten. Diverse sauna’s zwembad en zelfs een sneeuwdouche. Mooie omgeving en het personeel was altijd vriendelijk bij vragen. Ontbijt zoals gewend bij van de Valk helemaal top.

Na ons ontbijt 10.50 uur konden we niet meer de kamer in. We moesten naar de receptie om de deurcard te laten deblokkeren. Als je slecht ter been bent loop je niet zomaar op en neer naar de receptie.

Helt okej hotell, det gav dock inte den lyxiga känslan som bilderna visar. Vi bokade en svit som var fint inredd men det var en del saker som krånglade, bl.a. fungerade inte hårfönen eller uppkoppling till tv:n och det rann ut massvis med vatten från duschen ut i rummet när man duschade. Städningen var inte heller på topp då det låg hårstrån från tidigare gäster kvar på golv/ i handfat, och det lämnades kvar skräp i rummet vid den dagliga städningen. Det stod även vagnar med gammal disk från room service kvar i korridorerna utanför rummen.

Läget på hotellet var dock perfekt särskilt om man vill ha nära till både TT Circuit Assen och stan. Det gick att hyra cyklar på hotellet vilket gjorde det smidigt att ta sig runt.

Havde skrevet og bedt om et værelse i stue etagen og m udsigt til haven.
Da vi tjekkede ind viste det sig “pludseligt” at alle værelser i stue etagen var lukket pga renovation.
Det kunne hotellet bestemt godt havde skrevet til mig i nogle af deres mails.
Det var larm fra kl 0800-1900 hver dag pga renovation. Det valgte hotellet heller ikke at oplyse noget som helst om

I unfortunately had a very bad experience at the hotel.
The reason being : the staff allowed itself to displace my belongings from my room without my permission. As a consequence, my arm clock got lost in the process. This is a huge violation of my privacy.

The reasoning behind their action was, as told by them, that I didn’t pay for my stay yet.

Whereas in fact it was one of their staff members that told me not to pay at my check-in and that I would be contacted during the week by one of his colleagues.

However I wasn’t contacted at all during my stay. Up to the moment when they decided to simply block my access card and displace my belongings.

When I went to the lobby, I, for sure immediately paid. But wondered why they didn’t contact me at all, but instead they chose to directly take my belongings out of the room. The staff person at the desk pretended that she had called me several times (when we checked at the call history of their devices, we could see that my number wasn’t called a single time nor did they try to contact me in any other way).

However, the manager contacted me a few days after my stay to apologize and to reimburse my lost clock.
