The front staff were amazing. We had a difficult time teaching Como as the trains were on strike and they had extreme weather with lots of flooding. We were very wet when we arrived and they had our rooms ready. We were able to change into dry clothes as soon as we arrived. Great advice on dinner options.

We loved the lovely, quaint, historic hotel. The service was the best and our accommodations were comfortable. We were walking distance to the pier, funicular and restaurants. The hotel was a little tricky to find (better signage would have helped) and the public parking was not convenient, but we know that is often the trade off when staying in the Old Town centers in Europe.

Hidden Gem! And Close to fantastic food

From checkin to checkout, the Hotel Borgo Antico was the perfect stay. We were happily pleased when buzzed in as it was like stepping into an unexpected sanctuary from the somewhat \"blah\" street. And a huge plus is that just doors down were two very good restaurants, one a casual pub style with traditional Italian food and the other an enchanting gourmet garden restaurant with great ambiance, food and wine. The Terrace garden is a big plus, a relaxing place to unwind. The entire hotel was immaculate. So impressed at how clean everything was. Our room was on the back side so we had views of beautiful rock formations and it was really quiet. Our bathroom was large and boasted a fantastic shower. The receptionist checking us in took the time to draw on the local map and recommended several restaurants. This place is in walking distance from the Lake Como, the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta - Duomo. and the funicular and Old Town... all within 30 minutes. Breakfast was included with a coffee bar where you could get tasty specialty coffees (also included). I'd stay here again. It's a fantastic base camp to explore Como.

The hotel is a lovely small place on a quiet street, about 10min walk from the train station. 5min walk to the lake and the centre. It is clean and very well mantanined. The bed was comfortable and the shower just great. The staff were amazing! They went out of their way to help you and always with a smile. The breakfast was continental with plenty of choice of cheese and meats, cereal, fresh fruit, croissants etc and even a cute little machine to boil your eggs so they are warm and just as you like them. Thank you Ilenia, Luka and Alessandra for looking after us. We'll definitely stay there again.

The rooms are very small, there was no chest or drawers to put clothes in, I asked for extra pillows and was refused. The pillows were wafer thin. There was no hair conditioner in the shower which was tiny and had a dangerously slippery floor. There was no parking and we had to pay an exorbitant amount to park elsewhere.

6 of us (3 couples) had a lovely stay last week, mid October. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were bigger than you would expect. The closest train station is Como San Giovani and when you come out of the station you go down the steps directly in front of you into the park and find your way from there, it's not far. It's an easy walk into Como and to the lake, the hotel is in a very convenient location.

Very basic amenities, faulty sink in one room

There was a hitch in the check in since the hotel wasn’t able to update their records that I canceled the 4th room for my booking. Thankfully, it was quickly settled.

We booked 3 rooms and in one of the rooms, the sink did not drain properly. It wasn’t fixed during the duration of our stay. My family members staying in the room were not able to use the sink. The hotel did offer another room but by then it was already too inconvenient to transfer,

The breakfast had limited options. There was no free bottled water in the rooms.

Beautifuly decorated and quaint hotel with lovely access to the evening garden terrace to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. Hotel has an authentic, Italian ambiance and was about a 7-minute walk from the train station and about a 10-15 minute walk to Lake Como - perfect for meandering the streets of Como and taking in their historical architecture. Ilenia, the hotel manager, went out of her way to assist our small group of four was very accommodating. She even booked our dinner reservations to the Gazzetto Osteria a couple of doors down. (Highly recommend their house red wine as well as the Focaccia bread for an appetizer and either the Ravioli or the Gnocchetti - delizioso! We ate there two nights in a row!)

Continental breakfast was elegantly provided and, once again, the hotel provided more than what we as Americans culturally understand as \"continental breakfast\" (only a few pieces of fruit and pastries). We had a wide selection of Italian delicious Italian pastries, fruit that was whole or freshly cut and presented well, selection of cheeses, meats, yogurts and various spreads; freshly made hard-boiled eggs and toast available as self-serve, too. Fresh espresso, cappuccino, latte or macchiato available to order as part of the breakfast as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at Hotel Borgo Antico. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect for taking day trips around Lake Como and to other lakes and cities. It is only a 6 min walk to the train station and bus stop. It is also a 15 min walk to the ferry terminal and a 10-15 min walk to the old town. The street that the hotel is on is very historical with lots of interesting restaurants. Breakfast was delicious with one of the best fruit selections I have ever seen in a hotel breakfast. The rooftop terrace is a lovely place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Overall, this hotel is an excellent home base for exploring Lake Como and the surrounding areas.

The hotel is in an interesting and less touristy part of Como.

We had an unusually bad experience at this hotel. We had two rooms, one of which was fine. The other stank of garbage and sewage. We mentioned this to the late afternoon staff, who said they would tell their manager. Nothing happened. No follow up and no attempt to remedy or apology.

My daughters couldn't sleep due to the smell, even with the window open. When I mentioned the issue, the morning hotel receptionist nodded and said that was because of the construction being done outside by someone. She also said it was our fault because she claimed we had refused to have the room cleaned the day before. We hadn't and it was cleaned.The stench was clearly a known problem, and was well beyond any minor odor issues in a hotel of staleness or disinfectant that one might expect.

In addition, the phone in my room did not work. the first night, the phone rang twice but nobody could be heard. Someone knocked on the door a few minutes later; it was the late afternoon/night receptionist who said I had had hairstyling done that day at a place in town and had not paid. She didn't believe me when I assure her I hadn't. My daughters pointed out the state of my hair, which had clearly not been styled, and she finally left the room, clearly not convinced. All in all, it was an odd stay.

The location is away from the more touristy spots and in an old section, which we liked. Also close to the train station, so convenient.

Beware if you’re sensitive to chemica air scents

We were hit with an everwhelming suffocating artificial air smell upon entering the lobby of this property. Apparently they sell these sprays and scented sticks (big display in lobby). So our two nights here were unpleasant. The rooms are outfitted with old fashioned furnishings that provide few places for the guests’ items. The nightingale isn’t bright so our room was a bit depressing. The beds were comfortable and supportive, which we really appreciated. A full breakfast is served daily.

Exceptional stay! This was my best stay through Greek and Italy over the past 2 months. Great location, an easy walk to San Giovanni Train Station, the lake and the town centre.
Both the room and the were exceptionally clean and nice and spacious. Shower had good pressure and hot water. Bed and pillows very comfortable, very quiet, great sleep. Charging points and light switches in good convenient locations.

Our check-in experience at the Hotel Borgo Antica was initially ok. The room wasn’t ready, which was fine. We requested 3 separate beds at check-in, which the attendant confirmed. On return that afternoon, the room wasn’t set up as requested and we were told it would be changed in the morning. The front desk people went to great lengths to “prove” that my request wasn’t in the reservation. Then, the attendant reiterated that the room would be change in the morning and offered a bottle of Prosecco for the trouble. A few minutes later, I received a telephone call saying the room set-up would be changed but there would be no Prosecco. “The customer is always wrong,” I guess. Realizing the absurdity of that statement, the attendant did offer a glass (not a bottle) in the end as the room set-up was being changed. One more thing… I have traveled extensively worldwide for business and pleasure and never was asked to “pay the bill” at check-in.

It was slightly noisy at times and the cleaner was back and forth to the cupboard near our room a lot which was noisy especially first thing. The front desk had three attendants. Ilia and Luca specifically were very helpful. The Expedia website advertised lake view from the hotel property with a photo labeled as such. Illia believes Expedia posted the photo in error. We based our booking decision to a large extent on that photo. Ilia made sure it was removed from the Expedia website.
A few suggestions: There should be a refrigerator in the room. There should be more than one one chair in the room, as there is no place to sit but the bed. Lack of soundproofing which we discovered via lots of noise from above every night. The advertised “Terrace” was closed for renovation.
Positives:
-The hotel and room were very clean
-The breakfast was good and the breakfast staff were very efficient.
The air conditioning worked well.
The front desk staff, specifically Ilia and Luca, were great and they gave us some complimentary drinks due to the lake view confusion.
The room was well decorated.

Arrived to find no fridge in the room, which for a diabetic partner who needs medication refrigerated is disappointing. Had to chase up toilet paper on the third day. Nearby restaurants not open on Sunday and Monday. Worst was the proposed 200 Euro taxi fare to Milan airport which steadily grew as our day progressed. That’s $331 AUD on today’s rates. Left early and caught the train costing us a night’s accommodation. No thanks!!

A modest hotel on the outskirts of Como - some fifteen minutes from the Duomo, which is a long way by local standards. The services are very basic and breakfast rudimentary, but it is handy for the railway station, and the rooms facing away from the street are very quiet. Air-conditioning works well, so you do get a good night's sleep.

Disappointing experince; compared to other 4 hotels I stayed in Italy, it is the worst!
I saw many walking ants on the floor of my room, they had only one small garbge bin (located in the bathroom), the towels are old, one of them even is wearing off and had cuts on it, no table to put your luggage on (had to put my luggage on the floor to open it), no safe locker,... and other!

The only good thing about this hotel, it is close to the train station, like 8 mins!

Easy to get to and from the train

We chose this hotel because it was reasonable and close to the train station. It was also only a ten minute walk into the center of Como, so very convenient. The air conditioning was wonderful and the shower was also great. There were some areas that had cobwebs in our room and some mold around the corners in the bathroom. The staff at the front desk were wonderful and so helpful! The breakfast was good and worth the money. Great cappuccino!

3 nights in Como

Very nice hotel just a short walk down from Como S Giovanni railway station down a flight of steps and then turn left.Plenty of restaurants near or you can stroll down to water front which is not far.Dont need a car ferry pier on front .Enjoyed this hotel,staff very helpful good breakfast Italian style.

Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The staff was very helpful with recommendations around the area. They were also accommodating at all hours which was nice. The breakfast was perfect and just what you need to start the day. The room was super clean, charming and had a lot of Italian character which made us feel like we were really on vacation. Can’t say enough good things and really hope that we are back in the future.

10 min walk to ferry and all the shops, restaurants etc but on a quiet street and close to train station. Great breakfast and front desk staff very nice and helpful. Clean room with good showers.

Amazing stay.

It was amazing stay. The hotel is coviniently located and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I would recommend anyone who goes to lake cook to stay there given its proximity to the station and ferry station.

Fun spot. Smallish boutique hotel and quaint. Not in old city but a few blocks away, quiet, with a surprising number of restaurants nearby. Staff Cheery and very helpful. Highly recommend

We enjoyed our 2 day stay. It is close to the train station, yet an easy walk to Lake Como and the shopping/restaurant areas of downtown Como. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well air conditioned. The breakfast was excellent.
