Horrific hotel experience, couldn’t stay due to a personal emergency, the hotel decided to keep all of the money despite us encountering a personal tragedy and not actually being able to stay, no compassion, robotic Inhuman response to a guests at a personally sad time. The hotel itself also is not desirable, dirty, stained furniture. The river view room, neglects to mention that you can see the river but the view predominately is of the coach and car park, the room is above a food court so the smell if you choose to use the balcony is overbearing and festering, if you suffer from asthma or breathing difficulties this Could be a problem. Tourist trap with no care for guests.

This hotel is well situated to visit the cave as it is right next door. You get to park for 10 euros during the stay so that’s a plus. Breakfast was fine. However, some minor issues to note. There are no amenities to speak of in the room. No coffee/ tea maker, no tissue, no lotions. The shower drain was clogged but they fixed it. There is no gym, nothing but one restaurant. Seems odd for a 4 star hotel.

All the nearby food places close at about 6 and stop serving food even earlier as they cater to the tourists for the cave, you must eat at the restaurant or drive.
Would recommend but with the above in mind.

Overpriced for what you get. Rooms are super small washroom is not private buffet is mediocre and overpriced for what you’re getting. I recommend eating at one of the restaurants close to the castle will be 1/3 of the cost and 100% more enjoyable.

Staff wasn’t my friendly. A dirty tablecloth was in change for two days and the area where breakfast was served, possibly even longer.

Great place, fantastic rooms, very friendly staff. There were a couple of glitches with the front desk which could have been avoided. On departure it wasn’t possible to drive up with the car and we had to bring our luggage without any help to the parking lot. Not too far, but not pleasant to do in the rain.

Excellent location, of course, and the hotel was renovated in 2016. The air conditioning couldn’t quite keep up with the summer heatwave of early Jul 2025. Breakfast buffet and amenities were basic at best. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, we had a room on the top most floor facing the front - amazing view the hills and sunset and reasonably dark skies for star gazing.

The hotel has been fitted out very well but this hides some issues around standards of service and amenities. The choice of dinner was awful most places around the hotel close early but we were excited to try the hotel dinner. Unfortunately this was a buffet at 32 euros and the previous reviews have been less than favourable so we gave this a miss. There are some nice restaurants in the town nearby (not many). The first morning we looked forward to the hotel breakfast only to be bitterly disappointed. The breakfast was okay but they put us in an event room at the back despite there being a beautiful terrace, This was due to a convention happening which bumped us down to a back room so the convention could use the nice terrace. We did ask reception about the possibility of sitting on the terrace the next day and also about our air conditioning in the room as it was extremely hot but the staff member was extremely rude, disrespectful and dismissive of us! It was such a shame as all the other staff were lovely. Also a must is the secret rooms it was very well executed and very interesting. For some reason the hotel has not kettle/tea/coffee facilities in the room. Also to do any ironing you have to attend their ironing room…. Very strange setup for a hotel. Overall our experience was ruined by the attitude of one staff member with zero people skills and the hotel was style over substance.

Staff very helpful and listed restaurants in the town.

A stunningly gorgeous hotel! Whoever did the design deserves an award. It was clearly designed to be utilitarian, as there was a spot for everything, not just random rooms thrown into a building and then letting guests figure out where to put their belongings. The balcony was spacious, the bathrooms were nearly perfect, although I would have liked a bit more water pressure in the shower, the bed was comfortable with pillows that were not too flat, not too firm. I would without question stay at Hotel Jama again if I am in the region!

This hotel shares its property with Postojna Cave which makes it very convenient for spending a day at the cave and its other attractions like the vivarium. The hotel is classy, has clean rooms, and has its own attraction: a tour through secret rooms in the hotel used by spies. This hotel is also only a 30-minute drive from the Skocjan caves.

Lovely hotel at the Postojna Caves

Beautiful hotel, clean and pleasant room; fairly small room. Friendly front desk staff. All guests required to register with passport at front desk. Excellent breakfast buffet. Stayed here with kids, visited the amazing caves just steps away from the hotel. Room did not have a mini fridge. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel with beautiful view and very nice staff. However the air conditioning will not let u put it lower that 21c. Which was wayyyy to hit for us. There also was no sheet only a heavy comforter. So did not get good sleep. Also no shower. Large bathtub with a shower head you have to hold. Also parking is not free. Which was a big disappointment. The breakfast was very nice and staff very polite and helpful for information with tours.

Postojna is a great location for daily trips in Slovenia.
The hotel itself is within few hundred feet of one of Slovenia’s main landmarks, The Postojna Cave. The hotel is beautifully incorporated into the surroundings and has picturesque view of the local mountains and villages. The restaurant on site is also a very high quality. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to go many extra miles to make sure the customers are happy and enjoying their visit.

On arrival we were given a voucher for a free drink, but when checking what ‘free drink’ was available I was told Prosecco, house red or white wine or juice. Not exactly a drink of your choice! Very misleading!

The hotel is beautiful and has a really interesting history. I can thoroughly recommend the Secret Rooms tour with a very entertaining host. Reception and restaurant staff were fantastic. The restaurant was excellent and not too expensive. Good when there are not many options nearby. Really nice to have a complementary drink on arrival, you must try Slovenian sparking wine! Overall, we loved the hotel and would definitely visit again.

If going to the Postojna cave complex this hotel is ideal (100 yards to the cave entrance ). Unless eating in the hotel restaurant you may need to walk some distance and or drive to find somewhere to eat though ( the parade of shops in which the hotel sits are tourist souvenir and or convenience food outlets) but the dinner we had in the hotel was excellent.

We had a large , comfortable room but don’t expect a view ( car park out front , rocky landscape at the back ). Service and the friendliness of the staff was great and if you book tickets at be hotel you can get a discount on entrance to the caves and Predjama castle ( both well worth a visit).

Check with the hotel before booking if and when tours of Tito’s secret rooms are going to be available if that’s important to you ( wn optional tour extra but run less frequently once past high summer)

A free welcome drink voucher at the hotel bar was a nice touch but to avoid embarrassment it could make clear that the free drink option is actually just a very small number of options.

Beautiful hotel but unpleasant smell in rooms

The hotel itself is very beautiful and in a perfect location for visiting the nearby attractions. However, upon checking into our room there was a terrible smell. We hoped that leaving the balcony doors open would help air out the room, though it helped very little. As we were only staying one night we pushed through the unpleasantness.

When checking out, I heard a couple ahead of me complain about a smell in their room as well. The hotel agent did not seemed surprised and even suggested that the smell was coming from the pipes in the bathroom. Clearly, this smell is something the hotel is aware of and many guests have complained about. Too bad that this is the case for such a lovely hotel.

I have kids. Stayed here with kids. Never heard other kids scream so long or loud. Oh, and the barking dogs... nonstop...all night long. Could have been the thin doors. Calls to reception proved no help.

Comfortable stay and good service

The best place to stay for exploring Postojna Cave (3 min walk away), Predjama Castle (10 min drive away) and Skocjan Caves (half-hour drive away). Service was excellent and efficient, breakfast and dinner were both delicious, and room comfortable. The hotel reception can even help you to reserve tickets for Postojna Cave (+tour timing) and Predjama Castle. Overall it was a lovely stay and made my Slovenia trip a memorable one.

Convenient for Postojna Caves

The hotel is conveniently situated 100 metres from the entrance to the Postojna caves which meant we were able to book onto the first tour of the day which was a real bonus as we were in a group of 10 English speakers - sometimes the groups can be up to 100. The check in was swift and friendly but unfortunately the hotel didn’t have record that we had booked a superior room with balcony and we were allocated one without a balcony. When we brought it to the attention of the receptionist, he tried to move us but as they were fully booked could only offer us the suite which seemed a little excessive for two of us. As a compromise, and given that we had already paid for the room, we accepted a credit for the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was excellent but the service rather slow. This was not the fault of the waiting staff, who worked extremely hard, but caused by the number of tour groups who were booked into a separate area and all needed feeding at once. The actual room was clean and comfortable and I would recommend staying here if visiting the caves as it makes it so easy.

Really nice, reasonable hotel right on the grounds of the Caves. If you're going to see the caves, this is the place to stay. The design is great, the bar and restaurant are very nice, and you feel like you're in a luxury enclave secreted away from all the tourists. Rooms, bed, shower, etc. all first rate.

Very nice hotel - could not be more convenient to the Postojna cave. A few minor points:
1. Check-in and unloading / loading of luggage is awkward, as there is restricted access in front of the hotel. There was no indication that we would not be able to pull up; we arrived at a late hour and we found from another hotel guest that we could buzz and be allowed to pull up for a few minutes. (I did call reception ahead of time, but the phone rang many times and was not picked up). In the morning the next day, we brought our luggage down to the parking lot (which requires crossing the street and negotiating steps)- fine for us, but not suitable for folks with physical limitations.
2. toilets are strangely high- I am 5’4” but felt like my feet were almost dangling.
3. room temp would not budge above 24C (was 15C outside, and I felt the need for a little warmer room). The reception attendant did assist me with the room temperature control from her computer, but the temp never actually went up.
4. Things that would be nice to have, but not necessary - a sign indicating that the water in the mini fridge is 3 Euro / bottle (I didn’t drink it, but I did call the front to ask about it). Hand towels or washcloths. Lotion.
Great things:
1. Helpful staff
2. Restaurant is excellent - loved my grilled fish dinner. Breakfast is a great deal and lots of great selection. Was very impressed
3. Nicely laid out triple room- third bed was not an afterthought.

We received a free upgrade, which we greatly appreciated. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we had a nice view from the balcony. We ordered room service one night and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and wine; it was actually one of the best meals we had on our trip!

Entering the hotel upon arrival can be a bit tricky, as the entrance is on the second level of the building. Overall, though, this is a great option for exploring the immediate sites and jumping off to Vipava, etc.

We arrived very late and the power was out in the hotel. It was out of there control as the city was doing something to the power grid. The hotel staff was very accommodating. They even gave us a flashlight and had someone walk with us and offer to carry our bags. They even have us free breakfast which was great. I would recommend this hotel especially if you are planning to visit the cave.

Vi ankom på hotellet og købte billetter i receptionen til grotten inden vi skulle checke ind og det var en rigtig god oplevelse. Da vi kommer på værelset var det ikke ordentligt rengjort og uden udsigt og det rettede receptionen op på Lie med det samme med et nyt værelse med god udsigt, uden problemer. På hotels.com hjemmeside er der et billede af borgen og der står beskrevet på billedet “udsigt fra overnatningsstedet” hvilket er helt forkert da billedet er fra en kaffe bar ved slottet ca 9-10 km. Væk fra hotellet og vi bookede hotellet pga vi troede den havde den udsigt og seværdigheder lige ved hotellet, så meget ærgeligt. Vi blev lidt overrasket over alt nede foran hotellet lukkede så tidligt ca. kl 18 så ingen spise mulighed udover på hotellet, hvilket var noget dyrt og forholdsvis kedelig buffet men et mindre udvalg.

Super Hotel! Die Mitarbeiter sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel selber ist super schon, Frühstück sehr groß und vielfältig. Ich kann das nur empfehlen

Praktisk å bo her hvis du skal besøke grottene og slottet. Kort vei til sentrum.
Litt ekstra med de hemmelige rommene på hotellet.

Hunde erlaubt, jedoch nur in Zimmer und Lobby, nicht im Restaurant, auch im Außenbereich im Restaurant keine Hunde erlaubt
Zimmer unter dem Bett nicht gewischt, viel Staub
Ausblick mit Flussblick und Balkon gebucht - Fluss nur an einer kleinen Ecke zu sehen, sonst eher Parkplatz Blick. Beschreibung daher irreführend
