The room was immaculate, check-in was fantastic, however it went down hill from there.
The service in the lounge/bar area fell short for what you would expect from a hotel of this caliber.
Anytime we needed anything we had to flag down the bartenders as they never looked in our direction. I felt it was intentional. (Perhaps because we are American?)
I could figure no other reason as we were polite and friendly. (Some readers may assume that we were acting inappropriately.)
We were also misinformed by the front desk when we called down to confirm whether clocks were to be pushed forward overnight for DLS. They said it was to take place the following day!
(Good thing we didn’t take their word for it!)
The topper was upon calling for a bellhop the morning of check out we waited for 25 mins and ended up bringing our bags down ourselves, so as not to miss our flight.
The hotel did show goodwill by taking off the previous nights food and beverage bill, but I would have much preferred the service I paid for by staying in a hotel of that level.

From check in to check out, our experience at Anantara was so positive! We arrived to AMS super early, and we got so lucky they accommodated us and had a room ready! We took advantage of their amazing buffet breakfast. This is NOT to be missed! It’s a great way to start your day, the have literally everything and do a wonderful job replenishing and keeping spaces nice and orderly, all their staff are wonderful. Rooms were very nice size, with daily stocked water and amenities. Every single employee we passed or interacted with were so friendly and helpful.

The lobby and on site restaurant and bar were beautiful. The location is extremely central to all public transport and main zones you’d want to explore. While we didn’t LOVE Dan Square because it felt very touristy, I’d avoid any restaurants right outside of hotel!!!

However there was a grocery store steps away, we loved our evening treats from Rene’s right down the bloc and there were plenty of late night snack options!

Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect central location. The restaurants were great and the service gracious. The room was comfortable. What made it spectacular was that I fell and injured myself on the ice (record cold during my stay), a member of the bell staff found out, and the night manager called me, and everyone on the staff was very helpful. They even sent a messenger out to purchase Ibuprofen for me, and delivered ice packs to my room. Thy made the stay very personal. It was not my best trip to Amsterdam, but one of the most caring hotel experiences I've ever had.

The staff were excellent throughout my stay—very professional, welcoming, and attentive. Breakfast was very good, with a wide selection and good quality.
However, there were a few drawbacks. In the breakfast area, the cooking smells tended to stick to clothes, which was uncomfortable. Additionally, the air conditioning in the room was not cooling properly and felt warm. Our room also had a limited view, and there was some noticeable noise at times.
Overall, it was a good stay, mainly due to the quality of service and breakfast, but addressing these issues would significantly improve the guest experience.

Overall a lovely and busy hotel in a great location. Enjoyed the spa treatment I had as well. Rooms were clean and modern with all usual extras you would expect.
Breakfast- unfortunately the biggest disappointment. Had to queue and wait for a table to become free every morning. The omelette station was extremely slow and waited 20 minutes every morning. Staff were stressed out, I heard them arguing between each other and saying Jesus Christ several times. Waited 15 mins for more bacon to arrive and no pork sausages.

The room was very clean and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. We finally enjoyed our stay. The only issue I had was once we got home. It took five days to get the pending money back into my account and I had to ring the hotel as they had overcharged me by £150 which if I hadn’t of queered it I wouldn’t have got it back it was just aggro. I didn’t need once we got home.

First of all, the location !
From the hotel entrance, the doormen/bellboys, and the luxurious atmosphere of the lobby to the female staff member who assisted me at check-in, everything was wonderful.
The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable.
I was satisfied with every aspect of my stay, and this is definitely a place I want to come back :)

Excellent hotel. We had some delays on room availability by around 20 mins on checkout but we were fairly compensated (€150 bar voucher) and after checking we realised one of the two sinks was blocked. Upon raising this to hotel staff they gave us more compensation (€150 bar voucher) for the inconvenience. All in all very positive experience and professional hospitality. Breakfast was also delicious and freshly made options available rather than just buffet services like most hotels which was a plus.

The first night we had no AC and it was extremely hot. A fan was brought at 12:38 a.m., but it was loud, dirty, and had a 2-hour timer, so we had to wake up constantly to turn it back on. The dam view was beautiful but very noisy, and we couldn’t sleep any of the four nights. Amenities and staff were great, and everything was clean, but overall the stay was uncomfortable.

This hotel rates itself as 5*. It is not a 5* hotel. To be fair the staff - from reservations to bellmen to reception are excellent. They are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. However the layout of the hotel is awkward and very inconvenient - three separate buildings cobbled together which makes getting to and from some rooms very cumbersome. The hotel is located in a heavily touristed neighborhood so street noises can be a problem. The rooms are adequate but basic. The bathroom was particularly inadequate with extremely low level lighting and zero counter space at the sink. This is a tourist hotel, not a 5* hotel.

I don't think you can get a better place to stay in Amsterdam. The location is amazing, right across dam Square and the palace. The cafes outside a perfect for starting your day. The staff and service are 10/10, this was my second stay at the Anantara and third time in the city. I will go back and definitely not even a question will be staying here again.

I recently stayed at this hotel and found the room to be clean and well-maintained. However, the surrounding area was quite noisy due to the nearby bars and restaurants, which made it difficult to get a good rest.
Additionally, I was disappointed with the level of service provided by the staff. As a five-star hotel, I expected a more proactive approach to addressing guest concerns, but unfortunately, that was not the case during my stay.
Considering the price of over €300 per night, I feel that the overall experience did not meet my expectations. The location was certainly a highlight, but I believe there are better options available for the price.

I was promised an email from the reception manager regarding the results of an investigation into my concerns, but it has now been two weeks without any response.

The staff was 5 stars amazing, but showed up 1.5 hours after the earliest check-in to discover our room was undergoing maintenance and they had no equivalent room available!

Ultimately, they put us in two connecting rooms instead of the family suite but it was not as expected.

Breakfast was amazing! And again, the front desk, concierge and everyone was encountered was fantastic!

The hotel is in a great location and the staff are lovely. The room was dusty, had spiders. The bed headboard was tatty and peeling. I find it absurd that a 5* hotel only has one mirror in the room, which was in the bathroom. No full length mirror, and no where to get ready to do hair/makeup if someone is using the bathroom.

The location was great, but the room was extremely noisy as it backed up to a busy street and there was so sound proofing on the windows. So it was loud throughout the night and then garbage was on the streets in the morning with loud birds after the garbage. Needless to say for an expensive hotel I did not get a lot of sleep. However the staff was friendly.

We arrived early (like 9AM) and the hotel was \"under pressure\" to give us our room ASAP. So we booked two beds in a room, we reminded them about the two beds, yet we got the single king bed setup in our room. They made good on the bed configuration relatively quickly and from then on, the stay was perfect. We liked the room, the luxury toiletries provided, the concierge service was extremely helpful, and we dined in all three restaurants, and the experience was really 5 start plus. Will stay again and highly recommend!!! Great location, easy to walk to most landmarks, restaurants and shopping.

The sauna required an extra charge, which was disappointing for a 5-star hotel. Our first room was extremely noisy, and we had to ask to be moved. While the second room was an improvement, it still wasn’t particularly quiet. Overall, the experience didn’t meet the expectations of a 5-star stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

One was the complete other end of the hotel then they ended up telling us to release one of the rooms and they would refund it but then I spent three days trying to get that hotels.com. I had reached out to them. They emailed me back that they couldn’t get in touch with the hotel and then on check out it was quite an ordeal. Also, definitely not a five star. I would suggest four star quality.
