Very nice full service hotel. The concierge was very helpful in giving us advice on the Oxi pass (which was an easy drive in late September). Breakfast was a feast compared to other places. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Highly recommend!

After reading the reviews, we were curious what we would get, as there seems to be 2 divergent types of reviews.
We were housed in the 2nd building in the ground floor (1st), with the breakfast room down below. Decor best described as old age home-ish…functional but not new.
Half the double electrical sockets in the room didn’t work, the bathroom put out a strong unpleasant smell (not sure if it was the toilet sewer gases or the shower drain).
Otherwise the room was comfortable but the walls (and ceiling) are thin, sounded like our upstairs neighbors were rearranging the furniture until past 1030pm. Good shower pressure, but a bath mat would be appreciated as water goes under the glass shower ‘door’ and into the rest of the space.
Breakfast included was a good sized buffet, kept stocked and fresh. Hot dishes include: bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, potato cakes, oatmeal) and cold dishes included: assorted breads, pastries, salad ingredients, cottage cheese, jams, etc.
we took a miss on the evening buffet, which was very expensive, even for here.
Resident calico cat makes her presence known occasionally in the main lobby/lounge area. Happy hour prices are really good for Iceland.
Overall a good stay for 2 nights with hiking and nice falls in the area.

The place is a bit outside of the city, so be aware it is not convenient for restaurants and quick store stops.
Overall great experience, would recommend to anyone.

We arrived after a long drive from Kirkjubæjarklaustur, checkin was fast and we were given the room immediately. Room was clean and spacious. Being vegetarians, we did not find enough options in the restaurant in the hotel. so we had to drive to Egilsstaðir which is a 20 mins drive from the hotel which had some decent places to eat. Hotel breakfast was good next day morning. Overall, stay was satisfactory and highly recommend.

This is my least favourite hotel during our 10 days Iceland trip back in July. The bed mattress is very saggy, and the sheets are old and feeling rough. All of these is fine as we are really staying for just one night. Almost all the hotels in Iceland offer breakfast from 7-10am and we saw guests triggering in even near 10am and.no one has ever rushed us. However, this is the only hotel that was telling us to leave at 10am sharp because they need to “clean” it. And it is the only hotel too that did not offer fancy coffee from the fancy coffee machines in all the other Icelandic hotels we have been to. And they also charge extra if you want fruits. Like what? Not worth the money I paid for at all.

This was our 1st hotel in Iceland, however we were a little underwhelmed. The grounds looked a little neglected and our room, although nice enough, lacked meaningful ventilation (just a tiny window and warm temperatures). There was only a kettle and instant coffee/tea. The hot tub was also a bit disappointing.

Peaceful stay.

A wee bit of a drive from Eglisstadir and Route 1 in a peaceful and secluded location. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and an obvious asset. The room was large and comfortable with a lovely view of the lake and a decent sized bathroom with huge shower. To be picky hotel could do with bit of modernising and breakfast could be better quality - think both things could enable them to charge higher prices.

Property was nicely laid out. We booked a lake view room which also ended up looking out over the hot tub so you couldn’t actually enjoy the view without people thinking you were watching them. Also the noise from the hot tub wasn’t enjoyable although it didn’t go on late.

Dinner at restaurant was limited to a buffet which we weren’t interested in.

The property is about 20 minutes from Eglisstadir, beautiful area but nothing really around. We had a lake view room and the room is outdated. We had a running toilet issue late evening, we could not make it to stop, it happened at late night so we could not call for help, we reported it the next morning and the front desk staff unapologetically told us that we should try to fix it by pressing the button a few times! They did not at least admit the mistake or try to make up for it. Unbelievable!
BTW, Do not pay for 8500 for the buffet, the quality of food was ok, the restaurant was crowded with tour package customers, the dining experience was poor..

Set in a wonderful location, with a majestic view over the lake. We had a comfortable stay and a delicious dinner with cheerful and prompt, but not rushed, service. The buffet breakfast is very generous, with a better and more extensive variety of choices than we have found elsewhere. If you are happy with being in this peaceful and somewhat out of the way destination, this is a delightful choice. A few tiny issues: The TV didnt work, but we didnt care. The handicap lift from the first floor to the breakfast room dudnt work, but the stairs were quite manageable and the main lift worked well. We were glad we chose the hotel.

We stayed here 2 nights during our 14 days ring to trip. The room was clean and modern. However, the shower didn’t work properly- lukewarm towards cool water. Other than that, everything was great. Good breakfast buffet. We dined at the buffet restaurant twice . The food was decent and the service was excellent. Highly recommended this hotel.

I stayed her for 2 nights and really enjoyed my stay. It is about a 20 minutes drive from Egilsstaðir and nice and quiet location near the lake. Comfortable room for a solo traveler.

Breakfast was really good with lots of choices including scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Breakfast staff is really friendly and makes you feel welcome.

Reasonably priced when I stayed there. Would stay there again for sure.

We arrived just before 9pm and thankfully the restaurant Kol Bar&Bistro and dinner buffet downstairs were still open until 10pm. The male waiter made it clear he wanted us to check out the dinner buffet downstairs but I’m glad we didn’t because the seafood pasta at Kol Bar&Bistro was delicious !!
The room was clean and the lobby area was really welcoming. The receptionists both during the evening and morning were very sweet and helpful! Beautiful area!! I was sad we had to get going because they have a lot to do around that area, definitely a place to spend a couple nights going hiking, ATV tours etc,

However, the dinner buffet was quite poor quality and it seemed as if everything had been left out for a very long time and that part of it is NOT worth it. Nice place but not outstanding. Rooms are dated but very clean and bathrooms are great but like most places in Iceland, the sinks are tiny - not sure why. No convenient way to charge electronic devices. No blackout curtains for those summer nights with no darkness. Bar, restaurant were good with friendly staff.

Important point: Hotels.com shows this hotel as being in Egilsstadir when it is not. The clue is in the name of the hotel which is 25 minutes outside of Egilsstadir.

From 8 hotels we stayed in our trip to Island (same price range), this was no doubt the best one. Very new hotel with modern and clean rooms.
Very helpful staff; the front desk lady (from Portugal) was so helpful with several requests we had (late night and also in the morning).
The breakfast was an actual restaurant experience, not just a b&b experience. Extensive variety, high quality food, with wonderful views of the restaurant.
We definitely recommend everyone to stay here if they visit East Island.

The nicest Hotel in the Austurland

This is a hidden gem in the East of Iceland. I had no idea what to expect when I booked here. The Eastern part of iceland is beautiful and the hotel is located in the beautiful forrest that is the hallmark of this region. The hotel is actually more of a resort than just a place to sleep! The room was beautiful and the view even better. The dinner buffet was excellent and the shower amazing. We also took advantage of an ATV tour being operated off their property. East Highlanders was the name - AMAZING experience on their 2 hour tour.

Easy check in and out. Plenty of parking. Rooms were clean and spacious. Had a desk and chair in the room and also a water boiler and cups with coffee and tea sachets. Location was nice, if only weather would have cooperated. Check in & check out disappointing. Had to ask about amenities & locations within property at check-in. If i had not, staff would not have offered. She seemed to be pre-occupied with some other priority than checking in. No one was present at check out. Waited 7 minutes, dialed the bell as indicated with no answer, located another staff member cleaning rooms who attempted to help by calling, but then gave up & said they usually are not gone long & walked away. I waited another 10 minutes, no one came, so i left.

Hotel was a little further out than I thought but it’s location is beautiful right by the lake. Hotel was busy when we arrived with your groups.
We quickly got our room and it was nice. Couple of things to mention is that if your room is by the reception and in hallway from exit you will hear lots of outside noise.
Overall the hotel is good.
