The location can’t be beat and the staff is wonderful. The pool and common areas are nice.
The shower situation isn’t great, it takes a long time to get hot water and water pressure is poor. I would still stay at this hotel again because everything else was great. But I wanted to mention the shower because I know some people would be annoyed.

Rather tired decor and variable quality towels. Bathroom needs updates. Some issues with the breakfast options - hotel and linked restaurant need to explain this better but otherwise tasty and staff do try. In room safe not fixed flat battery, room doesn’t have any chest of draws to unpack . Mosquito spray for room needed. Best aspect is location and overall god value.

Left after 1 night. 1 outlet working that the tv was plugged into, no lamp light only the big ceiling light. Curtains were a wood door. Soap dish and hanger falling off the wall. No solution except okay leave. Very disappointing. Went and spent my remainder 11 nights at San Juan hotel sister property with no credits and paid full price in a sister property. Management is misguided

There were so many mosquitoes in my room that it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. I realized the next day that my room was the only one that did not have a screen to the window so they had to have been hearing the room out for my arrival.
Also the air conditioner was not working properly. I had it at the very lowest setting and the vent door would not open. Finally, I stuck a empty water bottle inside the vent when I turned it on and off keep the vent open to cool the room down. There was also a leak in the bathroom. It was water coming out of the light fixture in the shower. Avoid room 201 at all cost. The hotel itself is lovely and it is a great location. I think I just got the worst room in the building.

The front desk staff seemed disinterested upon our arrival. We weren’t greeted or given any explanation about our rooms, and I had to ask several questions to get basic information. At the end of the check-in, I even had to confirm whether we were finished, as there was no acknowledgment or closing courtesy. It left us feeling a bit uncertain about the process.

The rooms were large and comfortable, which we appreciated, though there was limited storage space in the room — only a few small shelves. The water pressure was also quite low, which made showering a bit inconvenient.

Overall, while the location is excellent — very close to downtown and the major parks — the service and room amenities could definitely be improved.

A fountain not a pool

We stayed here for two nights and the best part is the location. The room was small but clean. It woukd have been nice to have the ac on prior to our arrival as Merida is so hot in the summer but it didnt take long to cool off. Not the best room for older people or those with probpems woth sreos as we had a very high step into the bathroom and had to keep the light on all nihht to avoid a fall.

The gentlemen that helped us were nice and did the check-in quickly, so that was a plus. The room itself was not what we expected. ZERO outlets to charge phones. The restroom was very tiny with no shower door. Water spread all around the restroom. Because its right in the middle of the busy street, it was very noisy. Maybe a different room would have been better because ours just wasn't good.

The room I stayed at ran out of water. I was given a key to another room just to shower but I told them i wanted a different room which the did switch me to. However, that room also ran out of water. I complained to the front desk and asked for an adjustment in price. I was told they couldn't do that. I will not stay here again!

We got a room that looked unfinished as the floor didn’t have tiles. (Room 100), but we didn’t mind. the receptionist man never smiled nor welcomed us in. He was in a bad mood. However the man in the morning was the opposite. He was friendly and helpful. We even bought a nice lunch and surprised him! The area is loud since it is where the route of the horse rides.

This colonial style hotel has character! We loved our balcony in room 319 that overlooked the street! We were a 5 minute walk to the Gran Plaza, 5 minutes to the restaurant Chaya Maya, a 10 minute walk to the giant city market, and about a 20 minute walk to Paseo De Montejo and Parque De La Plancha! We enjoyed cooling off in the aberca/picina/pool! It was about 5 feet deep and 20 feet long. The room had a mini fridge that we kept stocked with cold drinks and there was a lot of stores and restaurants all around us! We enjoyed the hotel’s excellent coffee shop, but never did try their restaurant. All the staff were very friendly, welcoming, helpful and smiled a lot. Thanks to everyone! Muchas gracias todos!

El hotel es muy bonito, la habitación es cómoda y la alberca fue un plus que se agradece por el calor que hacía. El staff es super amable y me encantó que el cuarto tenga frigobar. El único detalle es que, como tal, no tienen estacionamiento propio sino que tienen un convenio con un estacionamiento público y solo te hacen un descuento pero no es gratis. Deberían de quitar de su descripción que sí ofrecen este servicio porque en realidad uno termina pagando casi 10 horas de estacionamiento extra a lo que se paga del hospedaje. Fuera de eso, todo fue excelente

Worst service in Merida!

Heat in Merida is high. Well, the only AC in the room didnt cool at all. Never fixed it, just offered to downgrade our room. Even asked for a fan and said no because the receptionist uses it. Parking available in the hotel is pure BS. The closest one is block and a half away and you have to pay extra for it. When complaining to Hotels.com they gave no solution at all. Horrible experience. Spend a little bit more and stay at a much better place.

The room failed to meet expectations on multiple fronts – not only did it lack furniture, but the sheets and pillowcases were stained. To compound matters, the phone was nonfunctional, we had to navigate the TV using two remotes. Moreover, the absence of a mosquito net on the small bathroom window resulted in an uncomfortable encounter with mosquitos. Faced with these issues, we made the decision to switch hotels after enduring two nights of inconvenience.

The location is excellent, plus free parking just a couple doors down. Right between the main squares with lots of activities and places to eat and shop. Hotel was quiet. AC worked well, which is very important in Merida. My disappointment was with some of the staff. Some were helpful, but a lot sat behind the desk playing on their phones. When I checked in, the toilet in my room was not clean at all. I needed to get to a meeting shortly after checking in, so I left and told the front desk. When I got back at least four hours later, it had not been cleaned. I asked the bell hop to bring me cleaning supplies, and I cleaned it myself. The same bellhop gave me the wrong time for the Mayan ball game exhibit in the square, so I missed it. Overall, it was just a lack of being attentive by staff with some exceptions of a couple who were quite helpful.

Toilet plugged up immediately. No soap, no hand towels. No reading light, just a dim light high up near the high ceiling. Bathroom smelled ancient and moldy. The room was full of tiny 'tiger' mosquitos that had a vicious bite that was painful for 40 minutes. I was bitten many times through a miserable night. 'Cheesecake' in the coffee shop was a kind of semi-solid foam that had never seen a cow. The 'swimming pool' is one stroke in length. Plenty of hot water though.

This hotel is very close to Centro, so many locations are walkable. Rooms were very clean and relatively quiet considering closeness to the street. Beds were very, very, very firm. Parking was available nearby. The pool was chilly but pleasant when we needed a cool-down. Restaurant/coffee shop in the building was pricey and we didn't experience good service, but the Restaurant directly across the street was excellent.

Like the home from the Disney movie Encanto. It’s open setting so it’s beautiful to see the outside especially when you get the pool view. January weather was perfect not hot yet chilly in the morning and the afternoon so it was extremely convenient since it’s a block away from downtown! Gift shops, restaurants are all very close by!

Such a beautiful place! We were fortunate enough to have stayed in the sole room with a balcony. The view is excellent for having a glass of wine and seeing the people and cars pass by. The area is not too noisy so you can rest easy in the king bed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay at Hotel Mérida again.

Lovely, convenient and updated hotel

The hotel is conveniently located just off the main plaza in a classic building that has been recently renovated. The room was comfortable and quiet and the bathroom was very nice with a large rainfall shower head and modern fixtures. The included breakfast came with juice, coffee, bread and jam, plus a choice of main dish and was very good.

My main qualm is that the bathroom sinks are only plumbed with cold water. No idea why. The showers are fine, plenty of both hot and cold water.

Cleaning staff is way too noisy in the mornings. Yelling down the halls to each other. Thin doors don’t offer much defense against the sound. Shower head was partially ripped out of the wall and sprayed water all over the floor while bathing. Bathroom also randomly smelled like sewage for spans of time. Had to keep the door closed and the exhaust fan on. Bedding is cheap and uncomfortable. WiFi was spotty. Air conditioning was not really working. It was like having a fan.
