This hotel is well located and reasonably priced. Don’t come here expecting the Ritz, it is priced for the decor, quality and style. It’s a good home base option for a few days. 5 minute walk from the airport bus and la rambler. Recommended, yet manage expectations because it’s a cheap hotel and you’re getting that.

The hotel is in a really good location. The room we stayed in was small and basic, but clean and comfortable, and the service we received for most of the stay was excellent. On the final day we were hurried out of the room - the cleaner knocked shortly before checkout time and conveyed that we needed to leave quickly (we were due to leave before checkout time anyway). We were also a bit surprised to be charged 6 euros to leave three bags at the hotel for a couple of hours after checkout.

This is a great location! The front desk staff is friendly. The housekeeping staff is very serious and isn’t the friendliest person there. The room and bathroom are very small. The AC works fast and great! There are no small refrigerators in the rooms. TV gets a lot of channels and lots of shopping and dining options. This is a great low cost option with limited amenities.The elevator worked well during our stay.

The 2 stars on Staff and Service is not because they were not friendly and courteous. They are very nice and always said hello when I came in and out. When I checked in they told me the city taxes portion of the bill had to be paid in cash. I knew ahead of time this would be extra fee that wasn't included in the bill, so that was fine. I didn't know that it HAD to be paid in cash. All of the hotels my friends stayed at, they all just added to the charges and paid with their credit cards (I found that out later). But...I was going to need cash anyway so I worked it out. THEN....I asked for a safe and was told it would be $2 extra. Fine. But I WASN'T told at the time that it ALSO had to be in cash. So the night before checkout I was told about it having to be in cash when I had already spent all my Euros! So the next morning I had to waste more upcharges and fees to take out just the $8 I needed. I had to spend $20 to get 8 euros when they should have told me the first night the safe fees were also cash. This was the only reason I gave such a low rating. It's a very simple hotel with value for the low cost, but that was not cool doing that. They need to be upfront with everything.

Very basic 1 star hotel, with a huge price ($250/night) because of the yearly, huge
( 80,000 people) tech conference in early March. Best thing was the wonderful location. It was clean, front desk staff were very helpful. Room was extremely small, with a singlebed next to the wall. You have to carry your bag up many steps, before the elevator, but staff carried it for me up to the next floor, to my room. The outdoor bell, on the right with all the buzzers, to open the street level door, is directly under the Hotel sign on the left, immediately below it, but it doesn't look like a buzzer! Starbucks is a 2 min walk, and Placa Catalunya is 5 mins.

This is a great value hotel in the perfect location in the heart of Barcelona. Steps from Aerobus, Metro, La Rambla, Pl. Catalunya, shops, restaurants, convenience stores etc etc. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My room was small, but this is Europe, and is to be expected. It was very clean and had AC. There are stairs, but an elevator goes part way. The area is safe. I would definitely stay here again!

I booked this place thinking that they had a lift because that’s what their listing says, but was surprised to see that you need to climb flights of stairs to get to their lobby, and that is where the lift is. It was very inconvenient for us who had lots of luggages. We arrived very late at night and we were very tired so we were so disappointed with what we had to go through. The staff who was there that night kindly let us use the ramp for PWD to move our luggages and he helped carry our luggages, but the other staff the next day was the exact opposite. He did not allow us to use the ramp. He then asked if we’d like him to book us a cab and we politely declined because we were booking an Uber. When we asked if we could ask for his help to bring down our luggages, he said no. He probably was pissed that we didn’t want to take the taxi service. He even said that if we book the taxi service, the driver will go up to help us with our luggages lol. So I think that because we declined, he didn’t want to help us.

As for the room, it is very basic but a bit spacious. We only stayed for one night so can’t say much. Overall, we did not have a good stay. This may be okay for backpackers but definitely not for travellers with luggages. I just hope the hotel updates their description about the lift because it’s very deceiving.

The hotel overall was decent because we got what we paid for. It was at “point zero” of Barcelona and the price we paid was under 100€ for August. Yes it is old, it has not got lift or breakfast, but it was so clean that you could not find any dirt anywhere. Towels were changed daily and sheets every second day. I would stay there again if I return to Barcelona sometime

Hotel Pelayo, great for Barcelona stay!

Was surprised to see a flight of staircase as we were having four medium suitcases! No kettle avail for boiling water too.

Apart from the above, we are very very happy with this hotel! Friendly staff, shopping starts literally right at hotel's opp street, taxi stand right opposite too which is so convenient for us to get to the airport without any hassle. Cost about Euro 30 for three of us to get there.

Thumbs up! Will certainly go back to this Hotel for my next Barcelona trip!

This is not a fancy hotel. You get a (very small) room and not much else. There is little ambiance. But, it is great for what it is -- an inexpensive and nice room in a great tourist location. The room is fine, even if the (double)bed pretty much filled it up. I will stay here again but some people may want something a little more posh.

Worst hotel experience ever

Absolutely one of the worst stays in any hotel. Even though we booked a \"guaranteed room with 3 single beds with a view of the city\" two months ahead of time, we were given a room that is literally a closet behind the reception area upon our arrival. My husband and I probably had three hours of sleep combined all night with the constant buzzing, people chatting, office chairs rolling through the night. When I asked the gentleman at the reception desk about the discrepancy the next morning, he basically shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do. This is the worst $100 dollars I spent on this trip. I cancelled my reservation at this place on my return trip. Take my advice: even if you want to stay at the heart of town, you can find much better place than this one at lower rate. For example, the Jazz hotel right
next door is actually a real hotel with a lower rate. I definitely have made a very very poor choice in going along with pelayo because of a friend.

Given the hotel is off La Rambla at the Placa Cataluña, you won't need to walk much to find bars, restaurants, shops, city sightseeing bus stop from which to start exploring all this beautiful city has to offer. Even though the hotel is just one star and does not offer breakfast, the location, price and friendliness of staff is what counts. Would stay again on my next visit.

The hotel is a simple place, but has very good service. I had a problem with my room on the first night, and I had to keep the room since the hotel was full. They moved my room the next morning while I was out in the City. Very, very helpful and friendly. The rooms are small, but for a 2 night stay, it was perfect.

If you travel with heavy luggage, beware. From ground floor, you must walk up one flight of stairs to reach hotel elevator. Elevator takes you to a door which leads to hotel lobby. From there you must walk up stairs to your floor. No elevator from lobby to rooms. When I walked in room, it had a smell like spicy food was cooked in there. But smell went away in 5 minutes (I think I just got used to it). Room very small even for European standards. No shampoo in bathroom and 1 tiny bar of soap. Bed situated with walls on either end (head/foot). So if youre a really tall guy you might not fit in there. There is a safe in room but to get key for that you need to pay 2 euros per day (should be included). WIFI worked, air conditioner worked. Close to Ramblas and metro station. Airport bus also 1 block away.

For the price, I cannot complain: great location, private (if tiny) bathroom, good housekeeping (clean and new towels, a shower curtain which doesn't smell of mold, etc.), high ceilings making for a fair volume, up-to-date Sharp AC, LCD TV, hot pot, coffee, and tea.

I was in a second floor room facing a ventilation shaft, and thus spared traffic noise. However noise transmission in those old buildings will disturb light sleepers (I brought earplugs having read previous reviews :)

The wifi signal in my room, located one floor above the reception, was very strong.

The worst hotel experience

Booked this hotel through hotels.com choosing the option that the hotel would be paid in cash for the length of stay. Arrived at 1:30 AM in Barcelona to find out that my hotel reservation had been given away because of my very late check in and they had not heard from me though I gave in the details when booking my phone number and my email address. They never contacted me. So I had nowhere to go at 1:30 AM in the morning since all the hotels on that road were fully booked. It was a Saturday and Barcelona is a very packed tourist city. Thought I was going to end up sleeping in the street with all my luggage. Luckily there was one hotel on that street with only one room available which was a triple room and cost 139 Euros which was not in my budget but I had no choice but to take it. I went back to Hotel Pelayo the next day to see if I could stay there for the duration of my stay in Barcelona since that is what I budgeted for. They said yes there was room available. Put me in a room where there was really loud dance music coming from the apartments above, that went on from 2 PM until about 11 PM. The next day they made me switch rooms for some reason which was fine with me. The day before I was to check out, I asked the reception guy named Oscar to phone my shuttle service to find out what time they would pick me up. Oscar said he could not do that because it was against hotel policy and that I can call them myself on my mobile or go on the street. That is the rudest thing I have ever heard a hotel tell a guest and I have stayed at plenty of hotels. I don't want anyone else to have to go through what I did.

For a Barcelona hotel near Ramblas, this was an acceptable hotel. We were staying only one night as we were coming from France to make an outbound flight, so we wanted something that was OK and wouldn't break the bank. We also needed to triple, so that cuts down on availability. The room was reasonably sized, clean and had good strong AC. Staff we helpful especially helping with bags from front desk to room. Hotel is large old building that is extensively sub divided and has a lot of office / commercial space. This leads to only complaint which is ourtside control of hotel but due to location. In the floor above us, they were doing some type of commerial remodel that started at 11 pm and went on until 230 - 300 am. Sounded like they were floor or carpet. Definitey not a good night sleep but this probably a one off issue.

Great location if you want to walk to mayor tourist sites.
Metro stations nearby.
The room too small, and you can hear all what is going on at the reception and hallway.
The window opens to an indoor patio, no views at all.
Because of the size of the space two persons can't circulate at the same time .
There is no space to manipulate the baggage.
The bathroom is very small and no ventilation system.

2泊お世話になりました。地下鉄ウニベルシタット駅まで徒歩2分位、カタルーニャ広場へ5分位のとても便利な場所にありました。古い施設ですので、やや壁が薄くて、物音は聞こえますが、お値段や便利さを考えると許容範囲内です。ツインの部屋2泊で37,000円位でした。この値段はバルセロナではお値打ちだと思います。

Atendimento do Leo foi excelente.
O único problema é que nao tem frigobar no quarto. Tem cafeterias bem próximas, para o cafe da manhã, tem o Café Florida que fica a uma quadra do hotel e é uma otima opção. Se for de carro, tem que cuidar com a zona de trafego limitada. O hotel temnuma excelente localização, da para fazer muita coisa a pé.

O hotel é bem simples, mas entrega o que precisa.
Os funcionários foram bem simpáticos, check-in bom e limpeza boa.
Importante pontuar que as taxas devem ser pagas em dinheiro apenas.
