Loved my visit of 2 nights. The slots were paying., the rooms were great, staff very helpful, music in casino was awesome. Wish Labonne vi was open. Only big Al's was open at 8:30 pm when we wanted to eat. It was good but would have liked to try something new . Can't wait to go back.

I really liked the thought of being in the same property as the casino for my one night birthday trip. I did get one room for five people so I thought there would be accommodations for five people.they where going to give only two keys then I got to the room only two washcloths and two towels and we had to call down for a blanket.

Room was good and staff was courteous. The only reason why I rated good instead of excellent is because the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke when you first walk-in the hotel. I've stayed there before and it was never this bad! My husband, on the other hand would rate is less desirable for the same reason and may impact our decision of staying there again.

The building is a little aged, but maintained. It's direct access to the casino. Food is done at 3pm, and door dash isn't consistent here. It was very empty when I was there. Very unlike other large casinos. Small table play, and surprisingly well kept up.

The room was clean and comfortable. Had to use the same towels and wash clothes for our 2 night stay. BUT housekeeping was out everywhere when we were checking out. The floor was quiet. I feel the hotel could offer free breakfast especially with a $40 RESORT FEE tacked on to the bill.

Glaring lights outside made a sound sleep difficult.
Room faced the highway and at 1:00 AM a line of trucks (semi-trailer transport type) lasting about 40 minutes went by making a lot of noise.
So, okay not great.

Everything you need for a nice getaway

It was a nice get away for the evening we checked in and from that point my girlfriend got a full body massage we had dinner we played slots. After that we had a comfortable bed right down the hallway perfect example of a all in one place to stay. Cant wait to do it again

Last night I stayed at a Clarion for $83 that was perfectly acceptable (and even included breakfast).

Tonight I stayed at Mountaineer for $121 (without breakfast) and it was equally acceptable - pretty close to identical rooms/amenities despite the nearly 50% price increase.

But when I checked in, I was informed that I owed them an additional $19.07 for a “resort fee”.

A what?

When asked, the gentleman at the counter explained that Mountaineer is not a hotel but is, instead, a resort.

When asked to explain the difference between a hotel and a resort he seemed to indicate that somehow a resort is, indeed, different from a hotel. Somehow.

Caveat emptor.

Check in was horrible they told me if I didn’t like it leave. They were trying to overcharge me and I just wanted an explanation of the charges. They did not want to give me an explanation but eventually they did. Sat the keys on the counter and said nothing no direction on how to get to my room nothing. Room did not smell good.

My bathroom has some wall paper issues. Minor. The Fiestaware factory outlet was great. The hotel was a little overpriced but the best place in the northern WV panhandle.

I was charged $40 for an extra person. There was only 2 of us and neither Expedia nor Mountaineer refunded me which I was told I would be refunded. I have reported this issue to The Federal Commission, hopefully they shut down Expedia.

ROOM - No electronic capabilities. At the least a power strip with USB would have been nice. Very small TV. There was no ice on my floor and when I went downstairs to get ice, there was black slime floating in water in tray on bottom of ice machine. No microwave anywhere, not even in hall or vending area. Ran out of facial tissue 1st day. Set dirty towels outside door after 1st day and they didn't restock them. Had to call for more towels and they did bring them.
CASINO - Nothing that would make me want to go there again.
