Picked based on previous positive reviews and price. Never been to the huge resort and did not know what to expect. It was OK at best. Room was clean and had essentials for overnight, in and out stay, and for the price. But, if you like the sound of people in other rooms thru the walls, the smell of marijuana, a guest in the parking lot smoking dope, big dogs barking, and the joy of somebody puking their guts out at 730am, this place is for you. Other reviews had better experiences sounds like but I would not stay here again. It served its purpose I suppose. Cheap, clean and a place to sleep and leave in the AM.

We were offered a larger room (on the first floor) upon check in. I had inquired about getting a second floor room, but was told that there were non available. We were put in a handicapped accessible room that was not clean. There were whit dog hairs all over the small navy blue sofa. Additionally, there were multiple hairs (human ones) all over the wet bar /counter area & the tub. The shower curtain liner was stained with God know what. There were bars all over the place. I requested a room change on Saturday morning and “all of a sudden “ there was a sector room available. This is when I got upset. I had been lied to the night before. My husband did not think that the place was that full. It ended causing stress to us and we got into a fight over this. Thus ruining our first ski getaway together in over 33 years. The staff did try to make it right with a cute hearts shaped out of towels and some candy that was left in our new room along with an apology note.

We had difficulty using the heater. Bathroom floor was dirty, also on the second day the shower water didn’t drain. Couch upholstery was ripped, could be fixed with a sewing kit. There was a lovely hot tub and fire pits on a new deck and some of the carpeting has been replaced.

Cool lodge and common areas. Basic rooms that have all that you need. Economical Inn for the budget friendly. Morning muffins and ample kuerig coffee to get you going. Nice patieo with multiple Breo Wood pits and a large hit tube were nice. Great view of White Heat to get you motivated every morning. Would stay again

Loved our stay here. The common spaces are great for hanging out, the hot tub was wonderful, nice fire pits. Fresh cookies were delicious and they set up marshmallows for roasting and a hot cocoa station. The filtered water stations were a huge perk! Shuttle was convenient but only if you're going to south ridge, any stops after that took so long. The room was quite small with a tiny bathroom but luckily we didn't need the room much.

Great find just a couple of minutes drive from the White Cap base lodge. Had to check in at the Grand Summit, as there was no desk service when we arrived. Maintenance fixed our running toilet very promptly. Great hot tub. Very convenient location. Apres ski cookies and marshmallows were a nice touch. Tough to beat the price we paid for (almost) on mountain accommodations!

This Inn is minimalistic- good proximity to the mountain and it was clean. No staff at the front desk which is strange- you check in and out at the grand lodge across the street. No one around to refill coffee pods and the lobby ran out fast.

Came up here for a long-weekend trip at Sunday River. This place is right near the mountain, and has a shuttle bus from the parking lot to the mountain that runs every 30 min or so. We were there from a Friday-the following Tuesday. There was a nice \"hang-out\" spot on the 2nd floor, stocked with board games, books, and had a nice fire going. There is also a locker to put your skis, but unfortunately, the boots do not fit into the lockers. From Friday-Sunday, there were numerous staff around to assist guests, as well as a promptly re-stocked hot drink station, along with muffins in the morning and cookies in the afternoon. From Monday-Tuesday, there was not front desk staff present, and you had to call a different numbner in order to get assistance. The hot drink station was also barren, and there were no muffins or cookies as previously mentioned. I would have liked for those treats to have been present during the weekdays as well as the weekend days. I would have also liked more frequent housekeeping services, since they only came 1x throughout our 4-night stay.

We really enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and fire put, morning coffee and blueberry muffins and afternoon hot cocoa bar, chocolate chip cookies and smores. The lobby areas are very warm and inviting with fire places, comfy furniture and games and the area shuttle is extremely convenient.

The snow cap inn is some of the most affordable resort adjacent lodging you can find in Maine, only. A 10 minute walk to South ridge and a free shuttle that runs every half hour, the hot tub is amazing, they also have gear lockers and a common area with a fireplace and games. They do seem to be suffering from understaffing and budget cuts as there was no front desk person for most of our visit and they did not have the usual baked goods, hot chocolate and water stations kept up with that I experienced on previous visits.

Here for ski competition. Easily assessable to slopes. There was an altercation at the hotel soon after we arrived and was a little under it the safety patrol and police handled efficiently. We had been told it can get rowdy at this hotel which we didn’t know about when booking. But ended up having no issues through the evening.

The electronic keys didn't work while all my ski things were with me, and there was no one on duty in the Inn to let me in! They had sent a text that if I arrived after 4 pm to go to a different hotel to check in -- but no one was there earlier, either, both days I stayed there, so when the keys wouldn't open the door, someone had to come from the other hotel to let me in...TWICE!! And then my neighbor was locked out for the same reason. I stayed at this Inn years ago, but will not be returning, ever again. Avoid at all costs. You do not get what you pay for.

It was ok. Price was good, they have a shuttle to the mountain, and the location was fine. The lobby area was a bit messy. To be fair it was a holiday weekend, but still, the place was messy. Also, the upholstered chairs in room 311 were stained. It was kinda gross. Check in and out was very pleasant.

Good service overall, but check in was entirely too late (past 5pm) with an early check out than most places (most are 11am). In addition, I would not recommend staying here if you want to sleep. We were woken up at 5am each day by stomping above us and around us. Also had a family staying next to us constantly screaming at each other so needless to say a sleepless vacation. We appreciated the daily cookies and hot chocolate and friendly staff.

The facility was clean and well maintained. We arrived early evening and the front desk had closed. It was necessary to drive to another property to get our room keys. They did not work so we had to go back for another set. They were very polite but it was inconvenient. Also, it is a multilevel property without an elevator. They had tasty muffins for breakfast.

The carpet had a strong odor. We had to check in after 8pm in the grand hotel, the front desk person although helpful seemed to be very stressed. There should be clear information of how to get to the Snow Cap Inn from the hotel. The room was very warm and the thermostat did not function correctly.

The property itself does not have a lot of the extra amenities some people might need if they are staying long (breakfast, pool etc) but it is perfect for a weekend getaway or stop during a road trip. We went during peak foliage season but I can imagine if going during ski season, you'd be in a perfect location without the hefty costs of the local resorts.

Our first impression was not great as when we arrived at the hotel there was no one at the desk just a sign to go to one of their other hotels down the road to check in. So we got back in the car and drove down the road to check in during which I had the surprise dropped on me that even though I had paid for our room in full when I booked it that there was a $50 hold that needed to put on the room for incidentals which would be totally fine if I had known about this when booking the room. Then I was told it would be put back on my card after checking out but there could be a 7-10 day hold on the refund depending on the bank. The room was nice just as pictured on the site. The beds were just a little uncomfortable and we couldn’t get the ac to keep the room cool. The next morning when we went to check out again no one at the desk just a few room keys other guest had left on the counter. I normally like to check out with someone so I know they have received my key back. The area was very pretty. So over all I guess it was about a 60/40 stay. I think if in the area again maybe we would give this hotel another chance.

When we reached the hotel, there was no one at front desk. Luckily there was a hotel guest passing by and I asked and he mentioned I had to go to the main hotel Grand Summit hotel. The staff at the main hotel was friendly. But it almost seems they receive guests that already know where everything is at. I felt a bit lost. you have to get in the car to drive to the main hotel, but how was I supposed to know that? if it wasn't for the hotel guest, I don't know what would've happened. The phones I had were not responding.

Snow Cap Inn was perfect!! My husband and I stayed here for one night in March for a last minute ski trip to Sunday River. The rooms were clean and cute. Loved the hot chocolate station and the warm choc chip cookies! Staff was so friendly and nice, will definitely be back!
