Absolutely atunning property nestled within Taroko gorge. There are no restaurants or stores in the area to speak of, but no need for these at this
Gorgeous resort with outstanding dining options and wellness activities such as yoga, spa services, and hiking. My advice to travelers: stay two nights rather than one because of the limited arrival and departure times. Also, review and plan your activities before arrival.

We had a wonderful stay. Our room was facing the gorge side and we could hear the sounds of the stream outside of our room. The hotel is peaceful and quiet. We took a guided tour from the hotel. Asser and Jiru were our guide. They were knowledgeable, informative and very thoughtful. They provided us bottled water and snacks. We visited a local farm and a nearby school. The students were all shipped out due to the earthquake last year but they would be returning soon. Our meals at the hotel was excellent. We were treated with the locally grown vegetables. So fresh and delicious. Will definitely return again

The property was clean and relaxing. We were especially impressed by the service provided by the staff. We were greeted by several staff members when we got off the shuttle and they took the time to wave goodbye as we were leaving. We would like to specifically mention Dorcas, Cindy, Alan, and Cece for their outstanding service. We do not have a single negative thing to say about our stay. Cannot recommend it more for people looking for a relaxing time surrounded by amazing nature.

Very relaxing and beautiful stay. All of the staff were wonderful and so helpful. Very family friendly - from the play areas to the pools to meals. Amazing to be able to have the gorge almost to oneself to explore in the morning.

Best stay of our 2+ week trip staying in luxury hotels. Wish we had booked a longer trip and we look forward to returning for another relaxing stay!

This was a 5-star property. The service was reflective of a high caliber resort. But it’s truly the grounds and view that are amazing. There is nothing like a swim and hot tub on the roof while surrounded by the amazing gorge with the background sound of a rushing river. Not to be missed.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area. Staffs are amazing. The only drawback is the dinner options. There are 2 seating times and you must make reservations. If you don’t they will put you in the waiting list. They won’t just take you in even if there are empty tables. And all 3 restaurants close at 9pm. There isn’t anything opened near by the hotel at that time. So you will only have room service. And room service only open until 10pm. Although it’s inconvenient to our timing during our stay, the foods are pretty good.

A truly luxurious experience. We took the hotel shuttle from the train station and then on arrival at the (beautiful) hotel we were greeted with tea while we completed our check-in. The room was clean and large. Snacks and drinks in the room are complimentary. We did the tours with the hotel as well which was worth the money. The outdoor infinity pool and hot tubs are against a gorgeous mountain backdrop. The breakfast buffet was incredible. Cannot say enough great things about the whole experience!

Overall is excellent except moldy smell at the hall way going to the room. Also toilet seat and toilet doesn’t match, it’s smaller than toilet.

Service and experience were excellent except property is ran down required some remodel. Comforter and the bed runner seem to be quite low end for a high end hotel like this.

I would highly recommend this hotel, hoping they would upgrade their amenities.

we arrived late and left early, and was very disappointed that we didn't just spend the entire time with the hotel.

They also contacted me the day before to confirm everything - which would be nicer if i wasn't roaming. But I do appreciate the quality of service - no one else has done so.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to spend a night in Hualien/Taroko Gorge. Hualien city itself is rather boring, so there isn't much point spending time there if you had come from Taipei. Just go straight to the hotel and hang out

Beautiful location right in Taroko Gorge! There is a nice rooftop pool and 3 jacuzzis. Rooms are ok but nothing spectacular except the view which is worth the price. The beds are very firm but we slept well anyway. We booked a driver through the hotel to pick us up at the train station and give us a 4 hour tour of the gorge. Our driver, Eric, was very nice and informative. Not sure why the bar wasn't opened by the pool during our stay. I asked the front desk if they had a bar and they said no. Not much to do at night other than have dinner at 7:30. The dinner buffet was pretty good but gets very busy as their are no other options at night. Do not go here if you expect a normal bar or anything to do at night. Good for families. There is a huge indoor pool and recreation room for kids.We would stay here again.

Stay in the middle of nature!

The hotel is in a great location to explore the park. Our room had a gorgeous view of the gorge. The toilet had some issues with flushing as you had to release the handle immediately or the water tank wouldn’t fill. It took the plumber twice to figure out what the problem was.

They had fancy electric light controls which were great, except when they malfunctioned. After our daughter went to sleep, we stayed up for a bit. When we were ready to go to bed and trying to turn off all the lights, they suddenly all turned on and wouldn’t turn off. We struggled for almost 10 minutes and called housekeeping who was able to finally turn everything off. Sometimes, manual is just better.

The food was excellent. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the staff was very helpful.

The best hideaway spot for retreats.

This hotel is at an exceptionally location within the Taroko National Park. It locates right above the convergence of two rivers and it is surrounded by mountains. Hotel staffs have been exceptionally caring, they did their best to make it feel like home for me. All my needs have been met with swift response. Beautiful pool with the view of the mountains. The guided tours around the area has been amazing too. Their restaurants cater to vegans - which is awesome. I will definitely be back when I need space and time away from the city!

This is an incredible hotel in an incredible setting. Our room had a huge window with a stunning view overlooking the river and gorge. The rooftop with hot tubs, pool, and fire pit was one of our favorite features. Excellent food and great service with good attention to detail. A few minor criticisms: The front desk was nice but not super friendly. The bellhop asked for our room number every time we walked in the door. I understand this is to keep people from wandering in who are not guests at the hotel, but after awhile it is slightly off putting. Also I got a great massage but was unable to use the jacuzzi afterwards because the water was too hot (44C or 111F) and I burned my feet trying. They tried hard to cool my feet and offered to use another jacuzzi room but the water in the other room was not adequately heated so I had to pass. They gave me a discount only after I asked for it. Overall, though, it was a luxurious stay and we did not want to leave.

Taroko being a very touristy place for mostly Taiwanese travellers, Silks Place Taroko is a luxurious retreat that lets you unwind in nature.

Staff is very friendly and helpful with varying levels of English knowledge.

The hotel makes a good effort to acknowledge the local aboriginal community and local foods and traditions.

Our room (Honeymoon Studio) was big, comfortable and nicely appointed.

Food is ok and there is a wide selection of local and western food.

We really enjoy our stay at the hotel. It is a very pleasant experience. Overall, Silks Place Taroko is a top ranked hotel per our traveling experience. The hotel design is outstanding, impressive, and very unique, such as the swimming pool on the hotel roof with surrounding mountains at the national park. Every guest will feel comfortable and elegant. Also, the performance events scheduled at evening are very special and of high quality.

Luxury in the heart of Taroko

If you're going to Taroko and can spend a few extra dollars, this is the place to stay. All of the park's breathtaking wonders are easily accessible either by foot or by tourist bus. After day hikes, you can come back and relax in the hotel's incredible swimming pools, both indoor and outdoor, and gorge yourself at the restaurants. Especially happy about real coffee (not instant!!!) in the guest rooms, which, for a coffee-loving Seattelite in Taiwan, was a luxury. The hotel has a shuttle bus from the Hualien train station for a very reasonable fee.

Silks Place was wonderful. The surroundings are breath taking and the hotel is very pleasant, offering delicious food, performances, free classes and an amazing swimming pool and jacuzzis. The only disappointment was to find out that our \"room with a view\" had in fact a view of the courtyard.

At three times the price of a 4-star hotel I stayed in Da'an area in Taipei, I expected the very best. The gorge view bedroom was superb. Night lighting of the cliff added a sense of awe and mystique. The staff was professional and friendly. Taking a dip in the rooftop hot water pool at 33C while the air was 11C was magnificent, all while immersed in a misty mountainous environment.

Althoug I only stayed at the hotel for one day, I could manage to go to famous hiking path and beach by bicycle, which was provided by the host for free. Their breakfast was very delicious. The couple worked together to make a combined Chinese and Westin healthy food in a very quick way.

dirty, overrated hotel with only two restaurants

This hotel way exceeded my expectation. There is no place to eat except for two restaurants inside the hotel. When you venture outside of the hotel, there are a few hole-in-the wall eateries and a convenience store.

The first restaurant offers Chinese menu and had some odd dishes that are not tasty.

The other restaurant has western style food. We had both breakfast and dinner buffet there. The first time I swung the restaurant I saw bugs flying around and on the cheese. The second time we ate there because there is no other choice. The flies were still there. My family vomited severely and had diarrhrea all night long. I also felt sick the next day. I told the hotel at checkout that my family got sick, and they would not give me a refund for the dinner and said that said that it could be due to other reasons.

My family and I also had the spa treatment there for 1 hr and 45 min. It was not impressive.

For the rate this hotel charges, it is overrated.

The hotel is situated in a great location within the Gorges, and they organized some ok tours - the tour guide was helpful and good. The hotel could have made it easier for the guests to do more exploration of the various trails without being to the tours. It was hard to get around outside of the hotel without a car.

We spent 3 days and enjoyed them very much. Obviously not (and thank you for that) the 5 stars hotel chain type, a very customized stay, friendly staff, always trying their best and happy to explain Taroko to us. Definitely recommend it for few days vacation ..

Luxury hotel in Taroko - great experience

This is a beautiful hotel located inside the park, with great views, especially from the rooftop outdoor pool and jacuzzi. The hotel inside looks great - it has been remodeled with a lot of taste. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel has two pools, the indoor pool is at 29 degrees, so no reason not to swim! The hotel also tries to offer entertainment and activities, like a daily aboriginal show after dinner and a late movie showing. Overall, very nice, highly recommended. The morning breakfast buffets are very pleasant, evening buffet was OK but we were disappointed by the Chinese restaurant that served a set meal with many dishes that was basically tasteless.
