I feel lucky to have found this hotel. Check in was a breeze with a code - perfect as I arrived very late after a long drive. Parking was right out front and it’s a very well laid out hotel, all rooms I saw were ground floor so perfect for anyone with mobility issues or just tired from a long day and lugging bags inside. The room was clean and warm. The best find for me was the restaurant - cosy and warm, a wide menu, friendly and efficient staff .. a real pleasure with the gas fire place and large windows.

The Black Gold Motel is outstanding! It is clean, well-maintained, the staff are excellent, the service is great! And the best part is the on-site restaurant and bar. I thought it would be just pub food, but oh no, they have taken what could have been pub food and brought it up to a whole new level. The chilli prawn linguini, the calamari with spicy mustard cream, fresh mushroom soup, all magnificent! And the service is outstanding, well done to all their staff! This has to be one of the best places to stay over once you're west of the blue mountains. Highly recommend!

The room (unit 42) also ticked all the boxes - in great condition, clean, and with helpful attention the detail such as 2 built in USB ports for the wall outlet next to the desk. Only the possibly less than perfect soundproofing could be of one’s concern - far from a deal breaker as it was quiet when we visited, and we did not hear much else besides the occasional vehicles arriving and departing, and the rolling in (and out) of luggage.

I was impressed with the accommodation, the bed was comfortable, love having the little kitchen also having real milk not long life milk was a happy surprise plus having biscuits provided was a nice extra. Have stayed at this motel 5 times now because the rooms are a good size, plus you have all the cutlery you need if cooking in your room, nice and quiet too.the motel also has different kinds of rooms, from 1 bedrooms to 3 bedrooms for families, plus restaurant and plenty of parking. Not to far from lithgow.

We had a good two nights stay at the Black Gold motel as part of a central west trip. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable and the shower hot, however there was no luggage racks in the room so bags had to be placed on the floor. The area round the motel was quiet at night with a generous parking spot right at your door. We had dinner at the very good onsite restaurant both nights.Would recommend this motel if you are in the area of Wallerawang.

We arrived after a debacle with the rental car company (Budget Rental, a story for another day) needles to say not in a great mood. The reception staff were very friendly & helpful. This proved consistent throughout our stay with all staff. The room was very clean & well appointed. The beds were very comfy & were made for us each morning & towels etc replaced where necessary.The restaurant & bar were very nice with a rustic feel & the food & coffee were great. We came for the Bathurst 1000 & found the 30 - 35 minute drive to the track no problem & would recommend The Black Gold Motel to other race fans.

We stayed for the inaugural Ridgy Didge trail run event which was 20 mins from the motel. We were just expecting a convenient bed for the night but we loved the motel. We had a 3 bedroom unit for our group of 5, and whilst the property style is ‘historic’ having been the old school, it was big, comfortable and had everything we needed, including heaters and warmth on what was a 0C winter weekend. The highlight was The Crib restaurant where we had our pre-race meal which totally punched above its weight. We had booked the latest table as we were driving from Sydney that evening, and expected it to be quiet and ‘waiting’ for us but no, it was almost full still, buzzing and we were greeted by lovely staff and delicious food. We wished we’d stayed a second night post-race rather than driving back to Sydney, and we are planning to come back to next years event as much to stay at the lovely motel as to enjoy the great trail running in the area.
