The pool and waterpark were fully open during our stay and were definitely the highlight for our kids. The amenities were great and kept them entertained the entire trip.

Unfortunately, the food and service throughout the hotel were extremely disappointing. On our first night, there was no restaurant availability, leaving room service as our only option. When we were finally able to eat at Forte, the food quality was very poor for the price. We also tried Woody’s Pub, where the staff were rude and the food was terrible, the soup was even curdled.

We would return for the amenities alone, but next time we would absolutely plan to drive the 45 minutes to Canmore for meals, as the food at the hotel was consistently disappointing.

You’re paying a premium to stay at this hotel. At over $800 a night, I expected a lot more, and unfortunately it didn’t deliver.

Our room had visible water damage, baseboards coming off the wall, badly stained lampshades, holes in the wallpaper, and worn furniture. It was a single king room that was obviously converted from a double queen, and it felt very bare. There was no artwork, no extra seating or furniture, and none of the small touches I’d expect from a higher-end property like bottled water, mints, chocolates, etc.

The view from our room was of a woodpile and a utility road, and it was noisy from staff taking garbage out. I understand not every room can have an amazing view, but the hotel didn’t appear to be full, so I would have expected a better room placement.

We brought these concerns forward and were given a discount, which was appreciated. That said, for the price being charged, these issues really shouldn’t have needed to be addressed after the fact.

There were also noticeable exterior maintenance issues. From our window we could see missing siding, exposed piping, and a fence falling over.

None of this would be a major issue at a budget hotel, but for the level this property markets itself at, they need to do better.

The room was very clean and had everything we needed. I loved the extra mirror outside of the bathroom to do makeup or hair without taking up the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I loved the body wash and the body lotion.

The toilets are very old and look unclean, as if they haven’t been flushed properly. It’s very unpleasant. This issue is not only in one room but in our group room as well.

For a resort that charges premium prices, this is unacceptable. The resort has been under maintenance since last year, and there is a very strong chemical smell in the entertainment room, gym, and changing rooms. The smell feels overwhelming and potentially harmful. I did not notice any proper ventilation, filters, or fans in these areas.

I hope management will carefully review these concerns and make necessary improvements. This used to be our family’s favorite resort because of its beautiful setting, but unfortunately, the overall quality seems to be declining.

The hotel was great, but the amount of children running and jumping on furniture in lobby was outrageous. It felt like I was at the playground while sitting in the lounge. It definitely was relaxing or an enjoyable experience from that perspective. The staff needs to get a handle on this and set some basic rules.

We have stayed here a number of times a this is the first time we have been disappointed in a number of things. One huge one was the restaurant where the buffet is held - infested with flies! So many black and fruit flies all over the food - in January! Another negative was that we were skating and right beside the skating rink along the gingerbread path for kids is a smoking area - so kids were forced to be in and amongst the adults smoking. It ruined the overall mountain fresh experience that we had come to love.

A beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting, decorated for Christmas. Food is captive audience; two pubs, two restaurants, coffee shop, all very expensive. Interesting activities for children, make your own s'mores every evening! The spa is fabulous! It was extremely busy, so service was usually slow. It was quite crowded over Christmas, but still a favorite destination.

Unfortunately, we did not realize that we needed to book the spa and restaurant weeks in advance. We planned a one night spa getaway last minute here and that was not a wise choice. When we checked into the hotel, the room was great, but we discovered that the spa was full for the next two days as well as the restaurant there is limited options as it is a small village and 30 minutes drive to Canmore. We thought we would try the hot tub and it was broken and the heated pool was full with lots of kids, so not a relaxing atmosphere. We were very disappointed and communicated to the staff, who fully refunded us our stay and we ended up going to Canmore later in the evening instead although the staff were trying to make our stay better, we were disappointed and just want to let everyone else know if you plan to go here to make sure you book everything in advance, including the restaurant otherwise you will be stuck in your expensive room for the duration of your stay.

There was no mention of the hot tub and swimming pool renovation on expedia when I was booking, but the amenities were unavailable when we checked in but the hotel still charged us the full $35/night. The hotel website mentioned that the outdoor hot tub was available but it wasnt available neither so the website was misleading. I messaged the hotel through expedia and I’m not hearing anything about it. Poor customer service.

Hotel was not very clean. Elevators carpets had a lot of smell even the corridors of the hotel rooms were dirty and the paint was peeling off breakfast room was too overcrowded and the waiting time was 20 to 30 minutes for one family. They were not a lot of vegetarian choices. there are no dining choices nearby the hotel very isolated place.

Excellent stay! Gorgeous facilities, friendly staff, excellent food and drink available! The outdoor hot tub was the perfect temperature. The balcony overlooking the trees and with a view of the mountains was top notch. Only issue is upon check-out I wasn’t told I would still need my room key to leave the underground parking. Usually, you scan to get in only, and when you leave, the doors are simply motion detecting. Thus, I gave both keys back at the front desk and was stuck inside the underground. I called the front desk, they said they’d send someone down in 5 minutes. I waited about 15 before another guest had to leave the hotel and let me follow them out. So, if you plan to use underground parking, keep one key with you! There is a slot to roll down your window and drop it in after you exit. All in all, had a lovely time and will for sure be staying again

However, the waterpark wasn't open and the current pool is not that kid friendly. Came with my father who is handicapped and they no longer allow handicapped parking by the entrance- you have to park underground. There is a lot of false signage to the elevator underground and our room was very far away. It was difficult to tote my toddler, push a wheel chair, and pile all the bags on my back with no luggage carts and several wrong turns to false \"elevators\" on the way to our rooms

Really lovely property. Scenic views . We attended a wedding and it was beautiful . There is a kids play room which I think could be expanded with more games for the kids but it was helpful to have a ping pong table and a few videogames. The waterslide was not open but the activities at the resort were great!

We’ve got unready room at 4 m , I was waiting to receive messages when the room gets ready but I didn’t and checked with reception at 4:15 and she found room was ready .
When we moved to the room people were working on windows so due to miscommunication They changed our room and we carried our stuff again to the new room , AC was noisy and in 2nd day they didn’t refill the coffee and tea in the room when we called for refill they brought double qty 👍, by the way we expected better services from Kananaskis Lodge.

For those who have never experienced Banff, Canmore or Kananaskis expect a 5 star experience on all levels. Kananaskis Mountain Lodge is amazing period, food was great at all restaurants, master chefs, top notch service staff. My only let down was the rooms and bathrooms are in serious need of upgrades for the price.

We called in advance to confirm the pool/water park would be open and was assured that the outdoor pool was open but the indoor was closed for construction. Upon arrival, we were told that the pool was closed for a special function - outdoor cinema and that it would be $25/person, to float in a tube and watch a movie. So we did not have access to the pool.

They also use pictures of the nordic spa (extra cost) to advertise the pool area, instead of the actual pool area itself.

Asides from the great service and hospitality, the property has an amazing nordik spa along with amazing view points. I found myself going on the view trails every sunrise and sunset. Really recommend the stay here it’s not like anything else.
