Stayed here for 6 nights. Room clean and as only used as a place to sleep and shower was perfect. Amenities all working in the room. Staff polite and helpful. We had breakfast once and were not impressed, hot food was luke warm and all the fruit was tinned fruit nothing fresh. We ate out every day other than that. Hotel in walking distance to many attractions and if not front desk can order a taxi which was no more than a 4 min wait. We suggest you take a card from the Hotel with you to show taxis for coming back as only one knew where it was. Had a great stay and Rome was wonderful. Would stay here again

It was obvious that the room wasn't cleaned before we arrived. The sheets weren't changed from previous guests, makeup on bedding and mini shower gels half used. After complaining twice, they changed the bedding 2 days later. Generally unclean. The hotel decoration of old and grand does not excuse the lack of maintenance and general feeling of the place being neglected. The expedia advert showed the cost of the breakfast but didn't mention the cost of the Spa at 75 euros per person for 2 hours. If affordable, I would be reluctant to use it based on the cleanliness of the room we had been given. The advert stated a restaurant but they only sold snacks. The bar was unmanned, if you wanted a drink you had to go to reception and they would call someone to get you a drink. The location was good but the hotel itself is no way luxury so don't be misled by the name Romanico Palace luxury hotel and spa as you will be disappointed.

We booked this hotel based upon Expedia's description. What you see and what you get is somewhat different. The result seems to suggest you were somewhat misled and something you would wish to take action on. We could not fail to miss that the hotel displays your certificate which caused us some surprise.
It would be somewhat fairer to also display what you do not get in addition to what you do get.
We booked 3 deluxe rooms and asked in advance that they were in close proximity because 2 of the rooms were for young children who had some life long difficulties. Their response was to offer 3 rooms on DIFFERENT FLOORS. All three romms were small in size and not customer friendly when it came to space and provision for cases and desk room etc.
We did complain of course but the front desk insisted that they could do nothing unless we paid for better rooms and that they were not authorised to make any exceptions. I then asked who owned the hotel. The reponse, when I asked whether it was a company or consortium I was told that it was owned by an individual. When I asked for details so I could discuss the situation I was told that they were not allowed to divulge any information. My wife and I were granted an upgrade for the first night only and were told they could not do any better. You will appreciate that with our entourage it was important that we were in close proximity.
We were further disappointed that the hotel only served breakfast since it meant finding restaurants for

I have to admit , this is a different kind of property , not for all , very unique , the location is great , the staff were friendly, the rooms are what they show online , hard to describe but functional , comfy bed , the heat pump is very noisy in my room 637 should get serviced for a good night sleep , the shower which I prefer to take would not be everyone cup of tea , does the job , lots of hot water which is important to me , roof top view are beautiful at night

This property was very well situated for walking into the city. However, we booked on the basis of there being outside seating and a roof terrace. Thi swas not open and there was building work going on att the time we were there which we were never offered any apolgies over. The lifts were small yet were dominated by staff and builders taking cement up to the top floor which did indeed break one of the lifts. I have a leg injury but was forced to climb multiple flights of stairs to get to my room. The gym facilities which we used were small and the air con was not working. They also smelt, as did the spa which we viewed but decided not to pay the extortionate extra charge for to use the pool. All in all a disappointment.

Location was very good. 15 min to spanish steps.5 mintues to park. It was a bit pricey for what they offered. I was surprised that breakfast wasn't included for that price. Also, beds weren't really queen sized. More like 2 double beds. The gym downstairs were only 2 machines and it was inconvenient to use. I had to ask a staff to come down and open door. Spa portion of gym wasn't included but it was just a small pool and a lounge chair. Would not pay for spa there.

Our room was much smaller than we anticipated, based on the photos. We asked for twin beds but it w 2 singles pushed almost together, with barely room on either side. The cover on the wall of the toilet flush button came off a few times when we flushed. The aircon also sounded like an airplane ready for take. We called reception & they sent a man up to look. He said the aircon was just too high, but it was clear one side of the swing vents had come away from the aircon. He climbed a ladder & fiddled with it & said it was fixed. Then he looked at the toilet & despite the fact that each time he flushed it, the cover fell off, he said it was ok. I said the cover is going to fall in the toilet & I shouldn’t have to hold it on to flush it, so it doesn't fall off the wall. I asked about being moved to another room. He said there was no room. He left the cover off the toilet button & said to press the little lever handle to flush it & then raise the lever back up. He said it would be fixed by the next day. The next day, the cover was on the wall again but when we flushed the toilet, the cover fell off again…we didn’t bother moving rooms because we were only there for one more night.
Regardless, the customer service wasn’t fabulous. They arranged a private driver & quoted me a price & arranged it. At the end of our hire, the driver told me the hotel under quoted by €20. This recommended by Luxury Escapes but in my opinion, not even worth 3 stars.

When we arrived we were supposed to have transportation at the airport we had to go back-and-forth with the front desk he did not seem to care at all we had to keep calling to let him know we had to have someone pick us up very rude this hotel is a bit of smoke and mirrors on what they have and how the rooms are they claim to have a restaurant in a bar there’s a bar no one‘s ever in it and the restaurant we only had breakfast and it was very mediocre cold eggs uncooked bacon some fruit and some pastries nothing to write home about all and all the location really wasn’t great it’s kind of far from everything very outdated they have a fountain in the lobby that doesn’t even work they have fake ornaments hanging off of it to look like water they do have some pretty pieces in the hotel lobby area otherwise would not go back

Clean room, nice views of the city.
Fantastic roof top terrace which was open some of the evenings with skyline views of Rome.

We had room with maybe 50 cm widealso in side this closet fridge and safe. No shelf’s or drowse. We aske for Irone and the answer was no Irone . We paid extra 480€ to room that can accommodate us for 4 night. True was our choice but we had no other’s choice but that.breakfast is extremely bad . Very limited choice all pastries are from day old and this is not one day but every day after choking that hoping will find something better but was only a drea.

Hotel is tired and like a rabbit warren, with tiny corridors leading to rooms with limited natural light. Breakfast was chaotic, overbooked and while the food was fine, I could have done without the hassle. If the hotel was rated as 3* and price was 30% less I would have left a favorable review. This hotel is completely run down, when I questioned why the room I paid for looked nothing like online I was told none of our rooms do they are photoshopped!
The first room we were given reeked of cigarettes we were moved to a disgusting room were we had to take a elevator to floor 1, walked a long zigzag corridor to another elevator which made no sense.
We had no toilet paper, soap, tissues for two days despite calling and telling the front desk, never got tissues.
The breakfast was nothing but cold coffees no orange juice, pastries cut into pieces and was poor at best.
This really is a dirty, dingy hotel who has no business being rated 4 stars, I wouldn’t board a rat here less alone guests who pay a high price to stay.

My family consists of two white males and a brother and sister of Mexican heritage. The brother was up in the early morning and ordered a drink from the bar and the attendent refused him, saying the bar was closed. Yet some little time later 4 Irishmen came in and were immediately served. We will not go back!

BEWARE of this hotel's refund policy!

I made a reservation Paid in Full on a Visa credit card with Hotel Romanico Palace, Rome for an extra night before our tour with a travel company started. This hotel refused to issue a refund after the tour dates and hotel were changed. Very poor public relations on their part and needless to say, I will not recommend this hotel.

Despite the cold and unceasing rain my wife and I had a good city break in Rome and the Hotel Romanico Palace. The location was good enough for us to get to buses and Metro when we wanted. The hotel was warm and welcoming. It's strength is its staff since all, without exception, were knowledgeable and keen to help. We felt that the restaurant prices were overly high considering the prices of other restaurants in the neighbourhood however, the view from the 7th Floor Restaurant are excellent.
We will return one day.

The Hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the nearest tourist attraction. The room was quite basic. Apart from a wardrobe there was nowhere to put your clothes. No kettle in room so unable to make hot drinks. Bathroom was fine with excellent rainfall shower. Breakfast was held in the rooftop restaurant with a beautiful view over the city. Sadly our trip was ruined as we were mugged in a road 5 minutes from hotel. Police were not interested. Someone tried it again the next day but I stood my ground.

Great location, but very dirty!

This hotel was situated in a great location. It was easy walking distance to most major attractions, however the front desk staff was very rude and the room was extremely dirty and uncomfortable. The shower was covered in black mold and when I reported it to the front desk they assured me they would clean it, but never did. We turned on the fan in the room on the last night and thick black dust started flying around the room. Additionally, we arrived late to the hotel as our passports had been stolen earlier at the airport and the concierge at the front desk proceeded to scold us for not having our passports in such a tone for all the other guests to hear (we had ID and photo copies of our passports). Finally, our bed was essentially as soft as the tiled floor. Overall, Rome was gorgeous, but the hotel was awful!

Great base from which to explore the Eternal City. 4th floor room, small but clean. Back facing, view to the inner courtyard, into other people's rooms. Better view from the terrace where breakfast is served. Good espresso, prompt and polite service. Limited choice of cold cuts and one non descriptive type of cheese - this in a city that justly prides itself on fabulous food!
Overall, satisfactory for a long weekend away.

Negative; As this was my wife's 50th I paid a £260 upgrade for a suite, primarily as facilities included, a jacuzzi and multi function massage shower. Unfortunately neither fully worked ( most of the jets ). After 3 trips to concierge and promise of repair, I was then informed that the jacuzzi wasn't faulty, it was just never fully installed to work ?! Likewise the shower.
I am loathed to pick fault, but these were offered as key features of the upgrade and really were not fit for purpose!

The room was pleasant with the added bonus of having a tub in the bathroom (did not see another during our 3 weeks in Italy). We were able to walk to most of the main attractions (15-35 minutes) and the staff was extremely helpful with directions and gave us a map. Because of the structure of the building, we had to take two separate elevators to get to our room but outside of that and a randomly noisy A/C unit, our experience was very positive and we would recommend it to others.

Easy to check in & out, neighborhood appeared to be pretty quiet; AC worked great (we were there during a heat wave) - but only when you are in your room. You can't leave the AC on without your key in it which was kind of annoying; no parking available. Website says there is parking & also a valet available but actually they call someone from another facility to come & get your car & the price is based on the size of your car/ When we checked out, the paperwork had not been completed & no one at the front desk knew where my car was but luckily someone finally found it. That was a tense few minutes!

Good hotel reasonably close to city centre.

Really enjoyable stay. Centre of Rome about 20 mins walk. Bus stops right outside. Air con works very well. Comfortable beds and rooms. Nice all you can eat breakfast.

Overall, a good experience

The hotel was nice, clean, and in a good location. It is within a good walk from the attractions. The last night, as we were packing up, the lights in the room went out in the hotel but we were able to hang out in the lobby that was lit until all the lights came back on. Most of the staff was amazing, but some seemed to never smile. My biggest complaint from being an American was that I missed having a nearby ice machine. I know most of Europe drink room temperature drinks, but I do not enjoy that. It was an unusually hot week and it was a chore to get ice from anyone, anywhere you went. It would have been a nice relief if the hotel had an ice machine for it's tourists to use. We are helping your tourism industry and i don't believe ICE should be a luxury item. Still, an enjoyable experience that I would recommend.

Unhappy stay at Romanico Palace

When we checked in we were given a smaller room than the one booked. We were moved the next morning but the TV did not work properly, it did not work in the room we had the previous night either.
Different members of staff kept telling us very different stories things about the problem.
We complained several times and told nothing they could do, bad luck!
We stayed an additional two days as part of a tour in the same room with no TV. The Hotel were not really interested in trying to deal with the problem, or provide any compensation except an offer to us to move on the last afternoon of our stay just before going out with a group for the evening!

All very unsatisfactory.

First time to Rome

I would recommend this hotel, but I would also warn the person that the front desk staff are of no help. So try to plan your tours through someone else or research before you go. The room was small but clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast on the 7th floor was amazing. Fresh fruit and juices, pastries, eggs, cheese, and ham. So much to choose from. The staff in the restaurant was friendly and great. My overall experience was very good.
